Guest Reviews

- David (8/5): Perfect for our short break in the area and would stay again - Great location, easy to find, good parking facilities and exceptional welcome / check in with very friendly staff There are signs saying “under maintenance” and this will be a good thing as it could do with some updating

- Lynda (8/5): -
- Justine (8/5): Comfy stay - Staff were friendly and room was comfortable Room a bit tired and could do with decorating to make it fresh.
- Blue (7/5): I would possibly stay there again for all the positive reasons listed above. - Very Helpful and suitably friendly staff, good privacy, quiet enough, decent private en-suite, room big enough and good outlook onto garden, easy to come and go, parking available, close to family so good place to offer when larger family gatherings require more accommodation, warm room and easy to alter room temperature and light levels, simple unfussy arrangements, booking was easy, cleanliness, choice of bedding, facilities in room fine. Decent price for the stay. The persistent bad smell of cigarettes in the en-suite, - maybe due to ineffective vent -Axia and a previous guest not observing no smoking inside rule despite clear signs, - bedroom was thankfully free of this odour. Bed was hard under not great (old?)mattress and glad I brought my own pillow.
- Anna (10/5): - Lovely quiet location, comfortable room, soft beds, I had a great night's sleep. The shower was good, everything was clean. The owner is absolutely lovely and helpful, very kindly accommodated my request for later check-in on the day even though she didn't have to.

- kevin (5/5): - Location Beds were so uncomfortable and shower was painfull, was told to leave upside down to build pressure but didn't really work.
- JK (7/5): - It was cheap and close to places for an evening meal. We stayed there before travelling to the airport in the morning. The owner was friendly. The bar area was nice. The room could do a little spruce up but it did the job
- Rebecca Waterman (9/5): -
- Maria (8/5): -
- Andrea (6/5): Convenient for Sale. - Staff friendly and helpful. Very dated room. Shower only seemed to work when nobody else in the building was using water.
- Samuel Bennett (10/5): - Neatness of the room and we'll stocked of things No access to Netflix, YouTube on the television

- William (7/5): An interesting visit during Storm David over Easter 2026. - Greeted by a happy and friendly host. I arrived on Easter Saturday evening and it looked the hotel was being refurbished and updated. I stayed in a large comfortable room with a cozy double bed which had a decent bathroom and shower. Situated in a quiet suburban area of Sale, there was a good view of the gardens beyond from the bedroom window. An evening stroll to the local church a few hundred yards away was very pleasant, as was the evening birdsong. I think the hotel was under refurbishment, and I arrived just as Storm David was approaching during the Easter weekend. I felt that some of the hotel facilities were not in place. Not helped by the Manchester tram network in the region being down for the weekend for upgrades and repairs, so I had to walk more, and use busses and Uber to get around, but this is not any fault of the hotel. I had an early train, so I had to skip the breakfast, therefore I have no opinion to offer on breakfast.
- Andrew (10/5): - The friendly host and a quiet location. Good value for money.
- David (10/5): Great value and comfortable accommodation. - Excellent large rooms and well equipped with everything to make a comfortable stay .

- antony (9/5): easy, comfortable, stress-free, helpful - The Eskdale is a beautiful old building. It is comfortable and clean. No issues with plenty of hot water and soap and shower gel available. I have had issues in other hotels where they constantly run out of hot water so it's something I'm picky about! There is free tea and coffee facilities in the room. Very simple but everything I needed. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and very accomodating. I arrived at midnight due to my flight being delayed but the staff were there to meet me outside their check in hours with no complaints. I needed an iron in the morning for my suit. I asked a member of staff and within 5 minutes had an iron and ironing board in my room. It is a simple, cosy hotel with staff who try and look after you and give you what yuo actually want rather than provide pointless gimmicks and if that is what you're looking for it's perfect.
- Nikki (3/5): Don't do it! - The lady who worked there was lovely, friendly and helpful It was not clean. The throw on the bed was full of stains. The curtains in the bedroom and dining area were thick with dust and falling down. There were holes in the walls and the bedroom ceiling cracked and falling down.
The whole place is dusty, worn and in need of a good revamp.
- David (6/5): - Uncomfortable mattress
- Jason (8/5): -
- Julie (8/5): Good location - Location
- Cleo (8/5): - Close to my venue Nothing
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- Adam (8/5): -
- Danniella (10/5): Lovely, friendly, homely atmosphere. - I loved the friendly, warm welcome we recieved even though we got there late in the evening. The room was a lot larger than expected, and the tea/coffee station was a perfect touch. I also loved meeting Bobby the dog, he was a perfect addition to the lovely pub atmosphere. The only thing that bothered us was the squeaky bed. The mattress was perfectly comfortable, the pillows were plump, but the bed itself squeaked so loudly anytime we moved haha. Once your asleep you don't notice it though. I loved my experience at Eskdale Lodge and will absolutely be coming back in the future.
- Danielle (9/5): Fantastic location, fantastic staff. Will definitely book again. - Super helpful/kind owners. Location was perfect for our stay. Beds were very comfortable. Would have liked to have breakfast at hotel as dining area looked lovely, but knew before stay it wouldn’t be available so was already aware.
- eimear (8/5): -
- Carolyn (10/5): Great stay - It was perfect. Great location and lovely continental breakfast Nothing
- Ammi (7/5): Very good value for money - Big bedroom and nice bar area No staff available on check out
- Moyse (4/5): Dissapointing - Room very dated…. the place was closed when we arrived! Dated, and not very clean
- Tracey (6/5): - Good location
- Regina (7/5): Comfortable stay -
- Ross (5/5): - Friendly staff and dog . Location Poor shower no power , noisy busy road
- simon (1/5): -
- Peter (9/5): it was everything I expected -
- Alice (7/5): Not bad st all - Room was warm, clean and spacious in a quiet area Bit further out than I thought
- Katelyn (8/5): -
- Theresa (5/5): I can't envisage returning. - A fairly good sleep in a comfortable bed and the bathroom was okay The climb up the stairs to the second floor was difficult and meals weren't provided. Breakfast, probably continental, could be booked beforehand but we weren't told that.
- Paul (7/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): -
- Leon (7/5): It served its purpose. -

- S (8/5): -
- Diana Evs (7/5): Fine for a short stay. - We stayed for one night [Christmas day] and we were given a door key/ room key so that we could come and go as we pleased. The Eskdale Lodge was clean and the bed was comfortable. Although clean and comfortable the Eskdale Lodge was quite old fashioned and dated. We were told before arriving that breakfast would not be available as it was Boxing day and would have preferred to have known this at the booking stage.
- Ian (8/5): -
- velmari (10/5): - Very friendly staff
- Janette (10/5): -
- Lorna (8/5): A comfortable stay. - The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Parking was easy. The handrail at the top of the stairs wasn’t easy to use.
- Oby (6/5): Overall, will use you again because of the warm reception staff on duty gave us - The reception we received from the staff on duty was awesome I guess it’s because it’s an old house, wasn’t warm enough, didn’t like dogs in the premises: I heard them barking
- Regina (8/5): - Good location
- GARY (5/5): - Comfortable bed. Bin not emptied..bar never open. Never seen any breakfast.
- Catherine (7/5): -
- Silvie (7/5): Příjemné ubytování za rozumnou cenu, velmi milá paní majitelka. - Dostupná lokalita, 10 min.chůze od tram Trošku hlučné u cesty
- Peter (1/5): Frustrating! - I arrived in the evening and they claimed my booking was not confirmed and they were fully booked. I had to find alternative accomodation at short notice at a much higher price. They claimed the fault lay entirely with Booking.com. Apparently two other people had the same problem that evening.
