Natasza (10/5): Beyond my expectations - SPA is incredible- we thought that it will be regular hotel room with some possibilities of relax, but it’s full SPA with great attractions. Staff is really helpful and always alerted (in good way) ready to answer your questions. Property is felling like home with a lot of mystery rooms. Great fun to discover all possibilities. Rooms are great and well equipped.

Torben (9/5): Great, relaxed weekend with the friendliest service I've experienced in years - The staff members were super friendly. We had a little emergency and needed an ambulance. The hotel's employees could not have handled the situation any better. Excellent service! The food in the restaurant was great. Breakfast good as well! Arrival by car and train is easy. It's perfect for a relaxed few days. Espescially if you like to use a sauna. Everything was great. The place is especially great for senior people. That's why I would not recommend it for longer stays with children. They might get bored and the pool is more for relaxed calm swimming that for fun chases. But that's obvious from the hotel's description. While we were staying there, there was no family with kids and I think that makes sense. So if I had children I would try to find a place with more action, I guess.
Michail (6/5): Good enough hotel in a small village and just few minutes away from our working area. - The room was OK with a balcony and little terrace. Rooms relatively small. Breakfast buffet only basic staff and not variety Hotel`s restaurant was very good, although it happened two times to delay our meals (in first case we were waiting for almost 1 hour the main course) we did not any compensation about it and of course were not informed. Only after complaining we had some explanation about it.

Anonymous (7/5): Good - Location. Staff is okay but you need to look for them to help you, as they might be doing different jobs at the same time (like receptionist AND waitress). We were there to visit family so for that purpose the hotel was okay. Room was a good size but I wasn't impressed with how the room was cleaned and there was an odd smell in the room. For example: there were 4 toilet rolls all of different sizes stacked up which looks unwelcoming and like someone else just left the room. Stains on the shower, mirror etc. Hairs in drawers.. all these little things may not seem big but for a 4 star hotel I really expect a higher standard of cleaning.

Anonymous (8/5): Four night stay - Convenient location for stay whilst visiting relatives nearby. Room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. Staff helpful and friendly. Found the pillow really uncomfortable. The biggest negative was the breakfast room. It was incredibly busy so we had to go into the annexe where there was insufficient space for all the diners, tables and chairs. It wasn’t a good experience. The hotel needs to think about the furnishings and how they are arranged. In fairness, we had no problem the next morning but only because we had an earlier breakfast and the room was virtually empty.

Elvira (8/5): Spa relaxing weekend - The Spa and Wellness facility: the sauna, jacuzzi, pool and the scrub salt provided in the shower were really great part of the relaxing weekend trip. We also appreciate that they considered our request of room/view. The new building has big rooms and bath, clean and modern. Accommodating and helpful staffs. The bed is quite soft that hurts the back and the topper moves easily out from bed, need to be adjusted everytime, can be uncomfortable. The balcony is nice but was not cleaned, we have to clean dust on table and chairs and remove some spiderwebs.

Mckenna (8/5): Comfortable bed, friendly staff - Room was spacious but with a lot of storage, staff were all very friendly and helpful. The air conditioning in the room seemed to reset to 20 degrees and the room was always hot during the night. Never went to staff with the issue as it was not a long stay but I’d expect they would assist without issue.
Dennis (10/5): Zeer tevreden! - Ondanks het korte verblijf, kunnen wij alleen maar positief zijn over het hotel. Ligging is perfect vlak bij een station. Wij waren te vroeg, toch was de kamer al beschikbaar. En het ontbijt was ook helemaal goed. Netjes en schoon hotel.
Sandra (8/5): - Wir haben dort nicht gefrühstückt, weil wir den Preis für völlig überteuert hielten. Leider haben wir eine leere Minibar vorgefunden und Löcher im Bettlaken. Die Rezeption war morgens zum aus checken nicht besetzt, nur ein Briefkasten um die Schlüssekarte einzuwenden. Sehr schade für den Übernachtungspreis. Aber für die eine Nacht war es in Ordnung, für einen längeren Aufenthalt würden wir das Hotel nicht buchen. Sehr schade!
Mr R D (10/5): UK couple with 30 year old daughter - Ignore the old reviews on this hotel. My daughter was very worried about it after reading some reviews.We had 2 rooms in the new block above the Breakfast area, they were roomy, very modern and super clean. Went into Groningen on the train 100 metres from the hotel, again very good service and super local train. Parked on the street opposite hotel, no problems as this is a very small, quiet and safe German village. We all loved it.

Verified traveler (6/5): - De accommodatie is door een recente verbouwing in top conditie, het vriendelijke personeel is alleen niet goed ingewerkt en loopt mijlen ver achter de feiten aan waardoor je overal op moet wachten, verkeerde bestellingen krijgt en dat is zwaar onder de maat. Eten ziet er netjes opgemaakt uit maar smaakt naar niets, kamer werd niet opgemaakt, allemaal omdat er via enjoy hotels grote groepen tegelijk arriveren waardoor het personeel het niet aan kan en reguliere hotelgasten op de 2e plaats komen. Als ik dit geweten had, was ik niet gekomen, want de huidige dienstregeling is het geld niet waard.
Derk van der (4/5): - Wat was er goed? Het bed , de badkamer en de omgeving. Wat was er minder goed? Voor minder validen heel erg slecht. Mijn mindervalide vriend moest een steile trap op. Tegen betaling van € 50 voor 2 dagen was er een andere kamer. Het hotel is een doolhof en heel onvriendelijk voor minder validen. Een ontbijt voor € 17.50 per persoon was voor mij te absurd voor woorden. Bij Van der Valk is het beter voor minder geld. Onder het bed is het al jaren niet schoongemaakt. Op het koelkastje heb ik geschreven hoe smerig het was. Voor dit hotel is 2 sterren nog teveel voor de prijzen die ze vragen. Bij het uitchecken was de receptie gesloten. Ik had een bevestiging voor € 201,00 maar ik kreeg een rekening voor € 250. "Oh sorry". Geen enkele aanbeveling.
Manli (7/5): it’s clean and newly renovated and modern. but not worth the $ and didn’t get to use the spa. - it was newly renovated and clean the price is $ for what you get, the spa was additional cost actually and not very clear on the website, also there are naked days which was only told when we arrived.
M (6/5): Pleasant - Location near train station. Easy to reach Groningen. Room needed some maintenance. One kitchen door under the bed. Beds were not comfy to seat on.. Top mattress kept sliding.
Gerhard (6/5): - Ständige Probleme mit dem Zimmerschlüssel und oftmals nicht verfügbares Personal, da Rezeption erst ab 10 uhr besetzt ist. Sehr sauber, jedoch kein Room- service. Bettenmachen und Bad säubern selbstständig. Das finde ich doof, da der Übernachtungspreis ja nicht niedrig war. Selbst bei Abreise war niemand da, außer den Reinigungsdamen und der Küchenfrau. Nö, das gefiel mir nicht. Mehr Führsorge wäre schon angenehm. Dann kann ich auch ein Ferienhaus mieten.

Annemieke (7/5): Good location, limited service - we visted the hotel because we had a meeting there next morning. The hotel provided us a simple dinner in the evening, wine was good. Rooms are clean, beds sleep well. There is a shortage of staff. Next morning we had a meeting with a large group of guests. There was no staff to clean up the meeting room, neither to clean up after lunch. We had to do that ourselves. After complaining we heard a colleague was ill, but that may not be the reason not to serve 30 guests. We think proper leadership may professionalize the process and the hospitality.

Lisa (10/5): - Tolles modernes Hotel mit leckerem Frühstück und sehr schönem Sauna Bereich. Ca. 20 Minuten von Groningen entfernt. Ansonsten befindet sich nicht viel in umliegender Umgebung. Perfekter Ort zum entspannen und genießen. Zur Weihnachtszeit einen Besuch zur Festung Bourtange lohnt sich. Fahrtzeit allerdings 1 Stunde.

The hotel/restaurant is located in a monumental building in the village of Loppersum. We enjoyed good service, a nice lunch with a view over the mainstreet of Loppersum.
Verified traveler (8/5): Good place to stay in the North-East. - I stayed here for 2 nights on business. Having stayed in quite a few hotels in the north east I found this to be comfortable. Downsides are that rooms do not have any facilities for making tea/coffee.

elfriedeheijen (8/5): Pleasantly surprised - Loppersum is a little town in Groningen. Although the hotel looks oldfashioned, the people are very kind, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is good. There is a very nice SPA you can use. You can take the train easely to the city of Groningen. Groningen is a nice city . Appingendam is a nice little old town you can visit. You can visit the Wadden Sea, a special place to be.

Diemel (6/5): Oke 3* hotel in the countryside of Groningen - The hotel is in a small village about 20 minutes by car from the city of Groningen. The monumental building only hosts the lunch/diner restaurant. The hotel is actually in a newer building behind the restaurant. The reception is combined hotel/SPA next to the restaurant. If nobody is at reception just ring the bell. Parking is free. We booked a deluxe twin room. The room was oke with some stained carpet and overall some damage to furniture. Beds are low. Might be a problem for the elderly. Mattress on the soft side. Small LCD TV with a limited channel choice. Bathroom oke. No toiletries only soap dispensor. Very quiet at night. Dinner at the restaurant was sufficient. Main course comes with french fries and a small salad on the side. 2 remarks: chairs are very uncomfortable due to the small seating area. Special for people with longer legs. The waiting staff has to serve 2 restaurants (hotel and SPA) and the terrace in front of te hotel. With only 2 servers you have to wait a while. Breakfast next morning is served in the SPA restaurant in continental buffet style. You can press your own fresh orange juice. For €12.50 the breakfast is oke. Assorted breads - condiments - limited choice of cheese/cold cuts - cereal - yoghurt- boiled egg - unattractive scrambled eggs/bacon from a hotpot.
VincenzoH1962 (6/5): Quiet place 20 minutes from Groningen - I booked this hotel because of its proximity to the city of Groningen (train station at 200 m, 20 minutes trip), where I had some work to do next morning. And also because of its wellness (sauna and indoor pool). On arrival at a Sunday afternoon, things were very quiet. Reception was friendly. The wellness facilities are not big, but OK and clean. But on Sundays they appeared to close as early as 21.00 (as did the restaurant). The village itself has nothing to offer, except for a bistro (which was closed.). So, reading in my room was the best option left. Good: simple, clean room, restaurant downstairs. Not so good: use of the sauna was not included (extra charge 10,-, plus10,- extra charges for use of gown and slippers).
