• Jara (10/5): The True Bali - a place where heart meets nature :) - Words can hardly express how deeply grateful I am to have experienced Clove Tree Hill. From the very first moment, Dian and her husband welcomed me with such warmth and genuine kindness that I instantly felt at home. There is something rare about this place, not just a resort, but a space filled with heart. The villa itself was a dream: beautifully designed, fully equipped, and with an open-air bathroom that made every moment feel connected to nature. One of the most special parts of my stay was meeting the owner. Such a kind and grounded soul, it was a true joy to speak with him about yoga and life. My personal highlight was the rainforest walk. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing insights about the surrounding nature, and at the end even gifted me fresh fruit, a small gesture that meant so much. Thank you for everything. I leave with a full heart and one simple reminder I will carry with me: always follow your dreams. If you are even slightly considering visiting Clove Tree Hill !do it. You won’t just have a stay, you will experience a level of warmth and authenticity that is truly unforgettable.

De eigenares is heel betrokken en regelde voor ons het vervoer naar en van het hotel. Het avondeten was heerlijk. Tip: de groentensoep. Niets.

• Claudia (8/5): Très belle découverte au cœur de la forêt et des rizières. - L’emplacement est fabuleux dans la forêt et les rizières. Endroit calme et paisible. Villa magnifique, très propre et très bien équipée. Nourriture variée et de bonne qualité. Le personnel est souriant et agréable. Très bonne prestation de massage. Des balades en forêt accessible à tous les niveaux autour de l’établissement. La situation géographique de l’établissement est éloignée et nécessite des déplacements en taxi assez long.

La végétation entourant les villas est tout simplement magnifique ( superbes fleurs) accompagnée de chants d oiseaux et de geckos, ainsi que la petite cascade non loin de la . Nous avons également très bien mangé et eu un magnifique massage . Une étape qu il faut aller chercher car un peu isolée . Nous avons fait une balade très sympa de l hôtel pour découvrir les bananiers , arbres à café et à cacao.

• Brian (10/5): Beautiful location and a beautiful property in the heart of rural Bali - Clove Tree Hill was in an absolute stunning location, overlooking rice terraces and a surrounding forest. It was very peaceful with the sounds of nature all around you. The individual bungalows were beautiful. We stayed in "Manggis", and we loved everything about it, from the design to the main deck, where I enjoyed having a coffee and watching sunrise every morning (see attached photo of sunrise from the Manggis bungalow. We stayed for 10 days and could have easily stayed longer. Dian, and Bram were great hosts - strong communication skills, never had to worry about a request, it was always done, whether it was organizing a driver, a tour, or renting a scooter. The staff were all very nice, and a great selection of Indonesian/Balinese and Western food. If you are into nightlife and parties, perhaps Clove Tree Hill is not for you. If you enjoy a beautiful property, spa, swimming pool, exploring nearby waterfalls, rice terraces, and getting out and seeing authentic Balinese life, than I can't think of a better place. We would definitely come back if we return to Bali. Thank you again, Dian, Bram and Bert. Having to leave!

Pour la premiere fois nous avons retrouvé des cours d eau sans plastiques !! La nourriture est excellente et Mrs Dyan manager en charge de la gestion de cette perle est absolument fantastique ! Son efficacité empreinte de gentillesse est absolument fantastique. Enfin la piscine est de taille tout à fait convenable et très agréable, ainsi que le jardin superbement entretenu et superbement fleuri !

• Sandrine (10/5): - Magnifique petit hotel ( 6 villa bungalo) en plein coeur de la montagne balinaise, au milieu des rizières. L'endroit respire la sérénité. Tout le personnel est aux petits soins pour nous faire passer 1 agréable moment. La nourriture proposée est variée et de très bonne qualité. Les prix sont très très raisonnables pour nous , belges. Le trajet pour accéder à l'hotel constitue 1 excursion en lui-même! Il est possible d'aller se promener jusqu'à 1 cascade oû l'on peut nager, top! L'hotel propose plusieurs chemins de randonnées, de 1 à +-3h. Les massages proposés étaient parfaits et très qualitatifs pour le petit prix. Je conseille de demander à l'hôtel le service taxi depuis l'aéroport ou ailleurs dans Bali, car ils sont habitués aux petits chemins sinueux et pentus. Nous y avons passé 2 nuits avec mon mari et nos enfants 4 jeunes adultes, tous avons adorés cette expérience. Rien, tout était parfait

De rust, de gastvrijheid en de prachtige ligging waren onvergetelijk. Het team stond altijd klaar – niets was te veel gevraagd. En het eten… eigenlijk te veel lekkers om op te noemen. Als je wilt overnachten midden in de rijstvelden, ver weg van het massatoerisme: niet twijfelen, gewoon boeken! Minpuntjes? Tja… als je er hier nog één weet te vinden, kun je beter thuisblijven, want ik zou het écht niet weten. Misschien da de vogels te vrolijk zongen? Haha

Super appréciables Ajouter un système de formulaire web/ site pour la sélection des repas, ça serai plus simple. C’est un plus. Whatsapp fait déjà le travail cela dit.
• Mathilde (9/5): Fantastische bungalows op een prachtige locatie, voor rustzoekers - Het uitzicht op de rijstvelden Prachtige bungalows in een fantastische tuin Rust Vriendelijke medewerkers die echt hun best voor je doen Uitgebreide kaart met Europees en Indonesisch eten Super schoon, ook de badkamers (met regendouche!) Hier moest ik heel lang over nadenken. Als je snel verveeld bent, zijn een of twee dagen verblijf waarschijnlijk genoeg, want er is niets in de buurt. In onze groep waren er ook mensen die hier juist om die reden wel makkelijk een week hadden willen verblijven. Wij waren er vier nachten, een mooi gemiddelde. De klamboe was prachtig, maar een ronde is een beetje onhandig omdat die minder goed om het bed past dan een vierkante. Maar dat is echt een detail. In de toekomst zal het hier wel wat drukker worden met toeristen, want er wordt flink gebouwd in de omgeving. Geniet nu dus van de afgelegen locatie. Eet gerust een hapje in de warung in het dorp, als je daar tijdens een wandeling langs komt. Laat je ophalen door de accommodatie: de weg erheen is smal, steil en soms niet al te best.
• Mark (10/5): Peace and tranquility in the scenic hills of Bali - Four of the five villas have fabulous views looking south over the paddy fields and to the sea. Beautiful garden with lots of flora and fauna. Restaurant has a good variety of food at reasonable prices. Good walks (long and short) for those who don't mind some steep slopes and steps. Only 10 to 15 minute walk to a nice waterfall. Not much to dislike, but if I was being picky I would have liked comfortable easy chairs in the villas rather than bench seats and upright chairs at the table.

We liked the food, it was healthy, well prepared, and a wide range menu. The food was not exceptional though, unlike the rest of the property.

The personnel was incredibly kind and very friendly. Every detail was well thought. It was clean and comfy. Nothing at all.

The view of the rice fields is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is calm and rejuvenating. What truly sets the experience apart is the warmth of the staff — incredibly friendly and welcoming, it genuinely felt like being among family. While none of the drawbacks are due to the staff or the hotel itself, they are worth mentioning for better trip planning for everyone. The villas are designed with relaxation in mind, so if you're looking to explore many of Bali's popular tourist spots — like Ubud, Nusa Penida, or various beaches — the location can be a challenge due to its remoteness. The property offers a lovely mix of on-site activities, including a nearby waterfall, which helps make staying in more appealing. However, if extensive sightseeing is part of your plan, you may want to consider accommodations closer to your intended destinations. Also, the place might not be ideal for families with young children (under 5), as it involves a lot of stairs and walking. As expected in a natural rice field setting, insects and mosquitoes are common. The hotel does provide natural repellent, which helps, but it's part of the authentic Bali experience — and not something to complain about.

• Bernadine (10/5): Paradise found. - Beautiful villas surrounded by lush gardens, with fabulous views of rice terraces. The purpose of our trip was photography, and this was a photographer’s paradise. The rice terraces immediately surrounding the property are lovely, and there are even more extensive ones not far along one of the walks from the property and the local waterfall gave even more opportunity for photos. The pool was refreshingly cool (a blessing in Bali). Food was fabulous, staff lovely. I had a wonderful massage and the local driver they organised for us was great. All in all an outstanding experience. While there is a local town walking distance away, it only had the tiniest of shops, so if you wanted or needed to buy anything, you really had to drive somewhere.

We will be back n - We’ve loved to be in the nature and feel the real atmosphere of traditional Bali. Dian, the manager of the hotel, did everything to make us feel like at home. The staff were very friendly and also took care of my children when needed. The food was very tasty and we’ve enjoyed all of our meals we’ve tried. There was nothing to complain about.

The walking tracks close by are great to get amongst the food forest and meanderings by the rice fields. Thoroughly recommend. Nothing not to like, although there are some steep steps at the rear of the property to get to the Waterfall below, although if you are fit and able, this should not be a problem for most.

• Tom (10/5): Absolute gem off the beaten track - This secluded property is an absolute gem - the rice paddy field view is unforgettable, the villas comfortable and the staff are lovely. We also loved the fact that it is run by a local family that also looks after the paddies you are surrounded by. The walks (marked trails by Clove Tree Hill!) around the property are stunning: Bali like it was 25 years ago without the tourists, touts and parties. All perfect!

• Anne (10/5): We can highly recommend that place and would always come back! - Clove Tree Hill is truly a precious place and an oasis to relax and unwind in between the rice fields. The villas have a great architecture and everything you need, the view is fantastic and everything is spotless clean. We took a walk along the rice fields and farming with Bram, which was a nice experience. He explained a lot about all the plants in the forest and the rice farming. The entire staff is super friendly. Our driver Alit was also super nice and acclaimed a lot about the rice and the Balinese culture. In general, the food is improvable. The lassies and fruit juices are very good. For breakfast, fruit platter and the black rice as well as the poached eggs are good. It’s a bit sad that you can only chose one item per category only (especially fruit platter or juice). The pancakes are a bit to heavy. For lunch and dinner, a wide variety is offered. Tomato soup and Indonesian chicken soup are good. Tuna and fried rice, we had much better ones during our travel. Everything on the menu is quite expensive compared to the rest of Bali. Although we understand, it’s a remote area and you need to bring everything there. If you stay longer, you might consider that there is no alternative for lunch and dinner. To sum it up: although the food was not the best we had during our Bali trip, that doesn’t impact the experience in Clove Tree Hill.

• Mariam (6/5): Rice terrace view hotel good ! - I really loved the rice field terrace view of the hotel ! From our rooms and restaurant ! It was best relaxing 😎 ! Plus we could see many roosters eating near the rice fields and workers who were harvesting the rice ! It was magical ! Well, even though I found the stay correct, I really would like to give some key improvements that would make stay even better: staff need to understand and speak better English because sometimes it was very hard to communicate… I did not enjoy at all the food over there… I think it should really be improved as the location does not allow us to eat elsewhere since it is a remote hotel. Also, we kinda sometimes felt alone, I really thought we would have a hotel staff close to us to share some Balinese traditions or stories, we were also the only hotel residents which did not disturbed us. But I only felt having interaction with the hotel when it was to go eat nothing more. Still I was happy that the hotel provided activities even if they were paid activities. I think it would be good to improve this link with customers. Also I think people should know that this hotel is really nature remote hotel so it means living with all kinds of insects that can sometimes terrify us, but I thank Dian for her reactivity when we have issues related to insects (rooms were cleaned so it is not because of this).
• Jemma (10/5): The perfect place to relax, soak up the zen atmosphere and just enjoy an authentic Bali - Everything was so beautiful and private. Breathtaking views, gorgeous room, delicious food and scenic walks around the area. Nothing we didn’t like!

• Bronwyn (10/5): Unforgettable. - The location- spectacular views, peaceful surrounds and gorgeous bungalows. The place is clean, lush and tranquil. Did I mention the VIEWS! The food-delicious, fresh and satisfying (we ate all the Balinese dishes). The activities available- unforgettable. The staff-exceptional, kind and so generous with their time. Also all the free-lance drivers, guides and massage therapists they use were so knowledgeable, reliable and skilled. Special shout-out to Dian and Bram for making us feel so welcome in their beautiful Clove tree hill family. This family run business IS the point of difference anyone should be looking for in exceptional accommodation. We do not have a single complaint!

• Shelly (10/5): Really picturesque views out over the rice fields and mountains. Lovely Hosts. Beautiful room. - We loved the little houses and the cool under house bed bit. Loved the walk down to the waterfall, and the pool was great. I loved how the garden was like a magical little exploration. Really developed gardens. I'd never been to Bali before, So i didn't understand how far out we were going. It was quite the drive out from Ubud. But, we are from the beach, so we wanted to explore deep inland, and thats what we did!

Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Absolutly magical. Waterfall very close. Would have liked to stay much longer without doubt. Will return if possible... Nothing... only wifi could be better...
• Benjamin (10/5): - Hidden gem! Great small and boutique hotel in a beautiful area. Staff are extremely nice, the view is unreal, the fresh water pool is amazing, the bedrooms are good size. Perfect place to relax, to meditate and to enjoy serenity! I will be back!
• Olivier (10/5): Exceptional - We decided to start our holidays in Bali with 2 nights at Clove Tree Hill and it couldn't have been a better choice. I have only good comments about our stay.. The location is far from the crowed touristic places, you really feel to discover the real Bali. The place is amazing, surrounded with rice field and a sea view on the background. The bungalows/rooms are very comfortable and clean. It is very private and you cannot see other bungalows from your balcony. The staff is so friendly, helpful and professional. The food was amazing. We also really enjoyed the trekking. it is very easy to orientate with all color signage along the way. The kids also very liked fishing in the rice fields. Thank you so much Bram and the team. we will definitely visit you again. Nothing

• Pascale (10/5): excellent stay - All the staff is really very nice. The hotel is small, and you can feel at home. The 'villas' are great, very clean. The swimming pool is a real paradise (the water is just cool as you like it, just great!) The meals are delicious. You will want to stay there all the time! nothing.
• Dante (10/5): If you think Bali is full of bogans, you're in the wrong Bali. - This is my third time visiting Clove Tree Hill and will definitely not be my last. As it's been three years since my last visit, the gradens have grown so much and you really do feel like you're in a tropical rainforest. The Timpu Sampi waterfall is it's usually gorgeous self now with better stairs and path leading to it, and while we there nearly an hour, there not a single other person there. Bliss! The food is carefully and beautifully prepared - my new favourite is the tomato burschetta - definitely worth trying! The villas are exactly as I recall - beautifully designed and perfectly positioned over the rice fields. Nothing. This is my paradise!
• Belinda (10/5): Wish we stayed longer and can’t wait to return! - Very quiet location not too far from airport, set amongst the hills with views over the rice paddies and down to the ocean which are incredible from the villa and the restaurant. Dian was a wonderful, proactive communicator and the ability to pre-order for lunch and dinner was awesome, which meant we had plenty of time to obsess over the amazing food options. The accommodation and all facilities were meticulously maintained. All staff were genuinely helpful, friendly and kind. Villa was serviced during breakfast which meant that there was no interruption. We had a guided walk (the green walk), which was fun and informative. We had Bram as our driver for pick up and to our next stay and he was a safe and comfortable driver. We stayed 3 nights and wish we had stayed twice as long with more to explore around the property and more to try on the brilliant menu. Nothing, everything was great.
• Hoi (10/5): Exceptional - Clove Tree Hill will absolutely be one of our memorable stay, spectacular view from the villa, the whole site is so well managed and clean, staff are very helpful and cheerful, food are nice too! The driver arranged for us is so professional and kind, we tried to visit a place called Bababan Crystal Water, it’s obviously not a promoted tourist spot and not easy to find during Bali new year period. Our driver always put on a smile and keen to ask people on the way and finally he asked the owner of the shop who’s on the way back from temple ceremony and we’ve a wonderful floating experience along the river while enjoying the beautiful rice paddies around us. • Emily (10/5): Really beautiful and peaceful place - This place is SO beautiful and peaceful. If you are looking for a little escape, stay here!! We loved our stay, doing yoga and going on walks everyday (highly recommend the longer one, along the rice fields). The massages were lovely as well. Lastly, the people were incredibly nice. The international food was okay - not great. The Indonesian food was really good.
• Catherine (10/5): Great memories, beautiful snapshots of nature and good time to detox. - You feel very welcomed here and the place is very well taken care of! There is a wide selection of food and beverages to choose from for lunch and dinner and we love the serenity of our villa. Wonderful service and great surroundings! If you are looking for digital detox, this might be the place for you as the internet here is not too fast. This deters you from looking too frequently up different things on the internet. Bring a couple of good books and a pair of good walking shoes and that’s all you will need around here! None.
