- Andy (7/5): The onsen was terrific everything else average. - The Onsen setup with private family booking and awesome view were great. View of Mount Fuji from the bedroom window was terrific as we got to see the whole snow capped mountain and room size was good. Plenty of parking and explanation of protocohls in the ryokan and onsen. The place is dated. The duvets were looking a bit tatty. Not much room around the bath and shower. Recommend a car as it as out of town

- ATHIT (8/5): good view from room, nice homemade umeshu, very private and peaceful stays. - room is not very small, dinners is nice (recommending fish and beef, also add extra rice for ¥100) didnt try the onsen though. the location is too difficult to walk around or go to any convenient store(not any anyway). the property provides drinks vending machine but with limited amounts. the toilet is not electrical type.

- Philippe (8/5): Short trip but good enough to appreciate the hospitality of the owner. We recommend! - Owners were very nice and were taking very nice care of all our needs

- Adriana (10/5): Amazing place to stay, highly recommend, although a bit difficult to reach. - The view on mount Fuji in the morning was amazing, cosy indoor onsen, tattoo friendly. Dinner was amazing and the staff was very friendly as well (one spoke Englisch as well) and provided a ride to the nearest bus stop in the morning. One of my most favourite places I stayed in all of Japan. With a lot of heavy baggage, it's a bit hard to reach since the last part had to be reached on foot. The buses only go till around 6pm.

- Md Sirajus (10/5): Great view from room -
- Timorpheus (1/5): - already feeling unwelcome, my wife said hello and the female staff would just walk away.
Second day my wife was feeling unwell so I asked for an extension and she said it’s already fully booked, while there’s still vacancy looking at the website.
- Justine (8/5): - Secluded guesthouse with great views of Fujisan (when its clear). Cozy and homelike atmosphere. It is quite far away from the main attractions of Lake Kawaguchi.
- Maxx (10/5): -
- Alexis (10/5): -
- CYOng10 (7/5): Comfortable guesthouse. Near attractions. - Situated in a nice village. Few minutes drive only from the Oishi Park. Clean and comfortable guesthouse. Didn't use the on-sen. Breakfast room could catch a glimpse of Mount. Fuji on clear day. Breakfast was below expectation. Fish a bit salty. No fresh vege.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - We couldn't be more pleased. Hosts Taka and Elisa are extremely gracious and helpful. They have a large van to take you to transit stops. Taka is also the chef and his dinner and breakfast score highly for both taste and photogenics. We are vegan and that was not an issue for them. The location is very peaceful and has great views of Fujisan. It isn't too remote from sightseeing locations which are easily reached by a good network of local buses.
- Bijeta (10/5): - We had a lovely experience staying in Sakuya hotel. The owners were very kind and helpful, offered us shuttle van to go to town. Offered us private onsen which was very relaxing. Rooms were futon bed with a view of Mt Fuji, breakfast was so yum. Would definitely come next time.
- Eser (4/5): Disappointing -
- Farhatun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ammar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ramiro (9/5): Superb - It is a bit further from the usual area so there are limited bus options, but the accomodation provides a shuttle to the nearest bus stop. The place itself is beautiful and has an excellent view of Mount Fuji. It was very cozy and relaxing with, staff was super friendly, food was good and the restaurant had a nice cozy ambiance. I definitely recommend this place for a stay at Kawaguchiko.
- Bhavika (6/5): Pleasant - The place is a real tale of two halves, it could be absolutely incredible. They have thought of so much, especially families with children. Providing toys, children's slipper and even a cot in the onsen room!
The views are incredible, mount fuji from everywhere, the bedroom, breakfast and the onsen!
The husband is really lovely and provides a lift to and from the local bus stop as the accommodation is up hill. The wife seems like she really no longer want a guesthouse and made us feel uncomfortable in everything we did.
You must order dinner by 5pm, we arrived at 5.20 pm with 2 children and they refused to provide dinner, later offering us to buy some ready pots of noodle. She then made us sit in the restaurant in the dark.
Consistently providing rules and scornful looks.
The restaurant area is 'closed' for most of the day. Breakfast can be at 7.30 or 8. No other options.
We kept going in there to play with the toys and she would come in and close the blinds, turn off lights etc, her husband would then come and open them again!
Every day she would tell us we need to leave at 9.20am, including check out day when check out is at 10. Weird. We didn't, we wanted to relax.
If you want to relax don't stay here.
- Arpaporn (9/5): Valuable price for Fuji view - Excellent guest house for staying overnight to see Mt.Fuji when you wake up from the window.
There’s private onsen for free for 40 mins per group.
Delicious dinner and breakfast are also available at the place so just ask the host when you reserve.
There’s also free pick up service from Oishi park.
- Elinor (10/5): Exceptional - Tattoos were accepted in the Onsen
- Mamta (10/5): Exceptional - Homestyle inn
- Zhiyuan (10/5): - wery good.
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joyce (10/5): Highlight of Our Trip! - We arrived after dark via taxi and were surprised at the incredible location and architecture. This is an authentic Japanese experience— tatami floors and comfortable futon mats!! We knew we would be magically surprised in the morning and we were! It’s nestled up on the hillside with an incredible view of Mt Fuji! It was a treat to be able to privately soak before bed in an ofuro (we imagine it too has a view of Mt Fuji in the day). Sunrise view in the room of Mt Fuji was unreal! Framed in the most beautiful natural setting. The guesthouse is clean, and the hosts are very friendly and well knowledgable in the area. And fluent in English! Breakfast was delicious and so healthy! A absolute must! The owner was kind enough to drive us to our 9:30 am sake brewery tour in town. We definitely want to stay at Sakuya Guesthouse again and hopefully also climb Fuji San!
- Chermann (5/5): Passable -
- Guilherme (9/5): nice staff. great views of mt fuji. - wake up with a mt. fuji’s view is priceless. dinner and breakfast were tasty.
- Pravit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sun (6/5): The room is quiet. - The room needs to renovate.
- Issara (8/5): Very good -
- Kittipong (7/5): Good -
- Marianna (5/5): Passable - The onsen was really nice. We were told to request breakfast upon our arrival but when we did the lady said they were too busy. We only saw one family having breakfast the next day.
- Hlaing (8/5): Very good -
- Josef (8/5): Very good - Mt Fuji view from the room and the private bath The traditional Japanese beds. A week later and I'm still bruised on the hips haha
- Antonio (10/5): - Todo chingon
- Jonathan (6/5): Moyen!
- Sanjeeta (6/5): Pleasant - I really like the place it was clean and warm. Host were not flexible. We were three people with one child who is three years old. They didn't even inform early that we have to order breakfast ta day before. They didn't even offer us breakfast stating that we have to inform them early. There were no any restaurents around. Child was hungry till morning 09:30am. I would have not said anything if it was just two adults. I believe host should learn to be kind with people.
- Swati (8/5): Pleasant stay at traditional Japanese room. Great experience. - The view of Mount Fuji from the room. Had to pay extra for Futon bed
- Martin (8/5): Very good - We spent one night at this guesthouse while travelling from Kyoto to Tokyo by car.
Very nice owners, friendly and flexible with our wishes. Communication in English was possible without problems. The Onsen usage was free and the Japanese dinner that we ordered spontaneously was very nice.
If the weather permits it, you will see Mount Fuji directly from the eating room and possibly (depending on your room) even from your bed.
Would clearly recommend this.
- Isabella (9/5): Peaceful stay with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. - Lovely location with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji and an onsen. Amazing hosts that drove us to to the bus stop in the morning after check-out so we could get to the bus in time. Would stay here again!
- Agatep (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (10/5): Comfortable room with a beautiful view. - A beautiful family home, with comfortable, practical and quiet rooms. The onsen is gorgeous, and we were able to book a private session. The breakfast (for extra cost) was excellent value - it’s huge! The views are amazing - we could see Mount Fuji from our window. Nothing - however without a car it would have been difficult to get to.
- Jan (8/5): Hiking trip to lake Saiko - Great location, calm neighborhood and wonderful views to Fuji. No complaints
- Julien (10/5): Exceptional - The owners were very kind and helpfull, they let us go on the terrace to shot photos on Fujisan at sunset.
A nice meal at dinner.
Private onsen included with large bathtube.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Amazing view from the onsen
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is our 2nd time staying here, somethings have changed. We arrived at Kawaguchiko station lately evening due to bus problem from Oshino Hakkai. Then bus services around Kawaguchiko were no longer available. We called to hotel but there was no pick-up service anymore. We had to take a taxi to go to hotel that very expensive. As we arrived late, there was no dinner service either. We had to buy something to eat from lawson. In the morining we had to check out early. The owner helped find the bus time and dropped us off at the bus stop. The room is quite old but clean. I like we can reserve a private onsen.
- Rajendra (7/5): Good -
- Sanchez (9/5): Enjoyable - View of Fujisan/ private use of Bath in the evening/dinner and breakfast was good value for the price :)
- Holly (6/5): Wonderful views but staff don’t give the personal touch, lacking amenities - The view is amazing and we really liked the use of the onsen in private. The room was clean and the food served was nice. Unfortunately we were disappointed by this hotel. It was our final hotel of our trip and I really was looking forward to this experience. The view of Fuji is breathtaking but sadly I felt the owners didn’t really make us feel that welcome.
I felt like I was burdensome to them when asking for a lift (the property is not near any public transport and buses to the main town end around 6pm)
They also had no washing machine, and the fridge was out of service. For the property being so far away from any amenities you’d think this would be a priority to have a working fridge and somewhere for guests to wash their clothes.
I wished the staff had been a little more friendly and gotten to know us. We were tired and just wanted the homely feeling which sadly we didn’t get.
- Camille (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely People
Speaks english very well
Always available to help
Magnificent emplacement
Private bath
Delicious and affordable breakfast and dîner
We would recommand for sure
- Yodpiriya (9/5): Superb - See mountain Fuji from room's window
- Ranit (8/5): Very good -
- Passana (7/5): Good - nice feel like home staff
- Raphael (10/5): Perfect - Fantastic bath and good rooms
- Hannah (10/5): Would recommend to everyone! Super for families or couples. - Super cozy place, nice rooms, very good food made by the familiy, the common areas were nice and the onsen was very relaxing. would definitively recommend!
- Dr.luecha (10/5): Wonderful View - Great one Amazing location up hill
- Laura (10/5): Amazing views, great onsen and facilities. A MUST IF YOU GO TO SEE MOUNT FUJI. - One of the best places i´ve stayed in my one month trip in Japan. The view of the Mount Fuji from the room and from the private onsen were breathtaking. I stayed in a traditional style room and it was so great!
They can accomodate the menu if you ask for it as vegan. The breakfast was delicious. The onsen is amazing.
I went without a car and the staff pick me up from the station and drove me also to the closest bus stops without problem. The staff was great and helpfull. The guesthouse was GREAT. The next time I would rent a car to have more independence.
- Napamas (8/5): Very good -
- Max (9/5): Superb - The owner and staff were very nice and accomodating and the meals were reasonably priced and delicious! The lodging has a very cosy and homey feeling so it will feel like a second home.
Not to mention you will get a great view of Fuji from your room if the weather conditions are favorable. The lodging can be a bit hard to access if you do not have a car. It is a fairly long and uphill walk from the main road, and the path is dark at night, so you will have to rely on the owner to drive you in and out from the property to the main road for your sightseeing activities.
