Guest Reviews
- RAJESH (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Will return - Great place to stay Great staff
- Ian (10/5): Brilliant stay - Everything, owner fantastic đ Nothing
- Carol (10/5): Comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings - Clean and comfortable
Good location
Well equipped
Good continental breakfast selection , liked the fact that breakfast is ready in the room , it makes for a nice leisurely breakfast.
Beautiful gardens and surroundings
Friendly, helpful host Nothing to dislike
- SJ Dutton (10/5): Worth a stay at this beautiful place - Lovely room, comfortable bed and everything you need for a great stay.
The selection and quantity for breakfast was excellent, with a toaster and microwave in the room is a brilliant touch.
Location is beautiful and close enough but far enough from everything. Nothing
- Tracey (10/5): - The breakfast in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the lovely lady who gave me toothpaste nothing
- Lord Shaun Thornton (8/5): Great little B&B with outstanding owner - The owner was really friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
Quiet and perfect for what we wanted allowing us to chill out after a friend's passing.
Nice breakfast box in the morning to start your day. The only negative thing I could say is the family room looks a little worn and could do with some colour on the walls (woodland canvasses etc)
But that's the only thing.
- david (8/5): Convenient and pleasant - Spacious. Warm welcome N/a
- Jones (10/5): Excellent. We are planning to come again. - The room and bathroom were both very spacious and comfortable. Shower was good and the water was hot. Easy parking and access. Friendly, helpful owner. nothing to say here.
- Steve (10/5): - Friendly well appointed and very pleasant room Had to leave!!!!
- MICHAEL (9/5): -
- David (6/5): OK for a short visit. - Bed, Pillows Carpets in bathroom? Breakfast.
- Donna (10/5): Would 100% stay again - Easy to find, very warm welcome, lovely property and setting. Great size room (room 1) with an en-suite. Everything I could possibly need was there. A fridge, a dining table for 2, a wardrobe, large bed, tv, microwave, kettle, toaster.
- Matthew (9/5): - Very clean, very friendly host took time have a natter before leaving despite getting there late evening. If there is one small thing I would of liked a hand towel.
- Maurice (10/5): Wonderful - Second stay at this excellent B&B Nothing
- Diane (9/5): Great little stay - The whole property and room size Nothing
- Christopher Jolyon (8/5): - Room spacious with a lot of furniture and all the facilities you might need for a relaxed stay. A place I could have happily lived in for a few days, though we only came for one night
- Christelle (3/5): I definitely wouldnât recommend to anyone as not my idea of a decent break and very disappointing - The room was comfortable and big enough. In my 35 years of staying at various Beds and Breakfasts throughout the UK I have never experienced what passed for a meal like the one provided. Not only there wasnât an English breakfast or a dining room to have it in which wasnât mentioned on the description but the ownerâs idea of food was a box left outside the room containing a sugar filled prepackaged sad looking croissant, pain au chocolat and two slices each of wholemeal/white bread. Individual packs of sugary cereals were also available. Even though I wouldnât have eaten it there was no chocolate for the guests as specified in the description.
Not a single fruit was available and I had to ask for all the stuff above to be swapped for some which I was provided with the next morning eventually.
The host is hardly ever around and out working so this may explain the set up above but again this was not specified and had I been made aware of it I would have never booked it. Booking.com really needs to step up and provide accurate information for their customers.
- Sophie (10/5): Mike was very welcoming! Lovely bed and breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay - Welcoming host, lovely grounds and the breakfast in the morning
- Farzana (9/5): - Itâs a very beautiful house, set on a private corner plot. We met the host Mike and he was a lovely person. Very welcoming, it felt like weâd known him all our life. We stayed there for one night due to a driving test booked locally. Iâd love to stay there again. Itâs very peaceful.
The bed was super comfy, pillows were lovely and soft. Towels were just like home. I travel a lot and I hardly feel comfortable in hotels. At Beightons I felt like I was at home. For the money I paid, I thought it was a bargain. Itâs not a modern property, but itâs clean, and I loved the old style things I saw there. Thereâs a main rd nearby. We had the windows open slightly as it was a bit warm and you can hear the cars zoom by. I think an ac or a fan would help, and then you can jerk the windows closed.
- Jo-Ann (9/5): Friendly and welcoming - Home from home and lovely surroundings. The room was lovely. We had our own bathroom but not ensuite. Owner was really welcoming and helpfull. Breakfast was left outside your room so you eat in your room. Nothing
- anna (7/5): -
- Tracy (8/5): Very good - Very friendly owner, good continental breakfast, large room. Traffic noise from a busy road nearby.
- Freeman (8/5): To the point B and B great value for money - Very comfortable bed and a massive room and bathroom. Loads of parking. Very warm welcome from the host Mike and family . Nothing too much trouble. I w
Xas made to feel very welcome in his home. Good continental breakfast delivered to the door with a microwave fridge and toaster in the room plus tea and coffee facilities.
- Molly (10/5): Lovely comfortable stay - Mike the host was friendly and welcoming, the room was lovely and the location fantastic.
- Victoria (1/5): Check your payment amount, we were tricked! - Nice and spacious, quiet location, easy to find, spotlessly clean. Stayed here after an event at Thetford forest and was very easy to get back to. Mike was very pleasant and we really enjoyed our stay, until he charged us twice and did not refund! Was surprised that bathroom was not en-suite but across the landing. Not really a problem but would have preferred to know this before booking. One room does have en-suite, so book that one if this is important to you! Charged twice, he acknowledged it was wrong then did not refund. Had to go via a fraud claim with bank.
- Gillian (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Perfect for our one night stay whilst attending a passing out parade near by, beautiful house and grounds with a very we - Beautiful place! The room was a good size with a Very comfy bed!
Breakfast was nice, plenty for us.
Lovely friendly owner. The only thing is it would have been useful to have a dressing table to do hair etc and a full length mirror but as we only stayed one night it wasnât really a big deal we just compromised with the dining table and mirror that was there.
- Russell (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely place to stay, very clean and tidy, mike the host was very polite and helpful Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Absolutely wonderful - Everything Nothing
- Carol (8/5): Enjoyable and would definitely return. - Great setting
Cleanliness, well appointed and comfy.
Welcoming host.
Nice continental breakfast N/A
- Glennis (8/5): Overall pleasant stay - Good continental breakfast, had it in your own room at your leisur Road noise, started early
- Samantha (8/5): Very nice host and very comfortable stay - Decor and furnishings very tasteful yet comfortable Nothing
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - The en-suite room I was in was lovely, very tranquil, looking out onto the gardens of the property. Ideal location for an event I was attending at Euston Hall. Plus, Mike, the host, is a lovely chap. Very friendly. Nothing.
- David (10/5): - friendly welcome and helpful
beautiful house
- Callum (10/5): Worth staying at! Excellent host and lovely venue - Excellent venue, comfy room, good parking
- Charlie (10/5): I could live here <3 - This was honestly the nicest place I've ever stayed. Everything was so cozy, so comfy. The building and rooms are stunning with lovely attention to detail. Comfy bed and pillows. The facilities were impeccable and great selection of brekkie bits. Host was welcoming and friendly. I could live here. Could not ask for more! We liked everything!!
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Everything breakfast yo die for Nothing
- Robert (9/5): Nice property and location, be prepared for continental breakfast. - Large, comfortable room, nice large ensuite with shower over the bath. The room had a good sized meal table, kettle, microwave, toaster and mini fridge. The house is in quite a quiet wooded area and is set in spacious grounds with plenty of parking. The owner, Mike, texted with details for us to find the house. Good value for money and a lucky find. We were expecting a traditional B & B breakfast but instead there is a basic continental breakfast provided to eat in the room. I'm sure this suits a lot of people but you might need to plan your other meals around this. Perhaps a call to the owner would be useful to check details.
- Maurice (10/5): Wonderful - What a fantastic find, lovely room with exceptional facilities, excellent breakfast, Mike is by far the best host ever. Nothing
- Ian (10/5): Comfy -
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Edwina (1/5): Disappointing stay the B&B did not reflect its reviews! - Property on the whole was in a nice setting but the main road traffic at night was very noisy!
The secondary glazing was missing from a sash window probably why it was so noisy at night ! No staff or owner on site B&B is very dated and tired much below an expected basic standard of cleanliness and hygiene. All appliances need replacing rusty microwave ,the unusable kettle was thick with limescale and the toaster appeared never cleaned Continental breakfast was served in a box the slices of mixed bread had been placed in a faded re used bag was not appealing!
And a very mouldy grubby bathroom not en-suite especially the window the shower did not look safe the doors was mouldy and rusty but the bath was clean though dusty!
- Georgina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (9/5): Superb - Very helpful and friendly host, with extremely clean and well presented Accomodation, the in room continental breakfast worked well for us, as did having a fridge in the room. Bed was comfortable. Host made us feel welcome and happy to share local
Knowledge.
- Alison (10/5): A very comfortable place to stay with a very helpful host - Convenient, comfortable and v helpful host
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good - Location. Friendly host.
- Patricia (9/5): Lovely host, spacious room, great bathroom lighting, all amenities supplied - A little distance from town which made it quiet with a country feel and able to take lovely walks on quiet road.
- Steve (10/5): Very comfortable, nice host - Very good all round All good
- Mandy (8/5): Very good - A very nice property with great communication from our host. All in all a very pleasant stay that was much enjoyed. Thank you.
- Stella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Williams (8/5): Very good - Clean and very comfortable especially the bed. All good.
- Brenda (5/5): Great for a one night stop over - Could do with a little bit of tender loving care
Lovely host, great for a one night stop over
- Phoebe (8/5): Very good -
- Davies (8/5): Great location and spacious room - Lovely room and friendly helpful owner there to welcome us. Great location not far from Bury St Edmunds town. Only improvement could be some protein options in the continental breakfast, perhaps cheese portions in the fridge. We don't really eat cereals/bread/pastries.
- Carly (10/5): Excellent B&B, lots of charm and lovely host! - We had the family room, it was spacious, had everything you needed. Breakfast was served in our room, with a continental breakfast parcel delivered to your room door. The B&B is a charming house with lots of land, so feels quite remote but you are only approx 8 mins for everything and was very easy to get a taxi to places, I would recommend Getaway Cars, they were very reliable. Mike is a fabulous host, made us feel very welcome. We will definitely stay again.
- Brenda (10/5): Very comfortable relaxing quiet country setting close to a beautiful historic town . - Continental breakfast was plentiful and tasty was left outside your room to have at your leisure which we took full advantage of by sitting at a lovely laid table in our pyjamas. The small fridge in the room allowed the advantage of the provided fresh milk yogurts and assorted butters, jams, marmalade ect. one minor thing was that there was only one comfy wicker chair in the room apart from the two dining chairs.
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional - Great location close to Bury St Edmunds. Mike was a great host. Very comfortable room and lovely breakfast.
- Carol (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely place to stay. Mike was helpful with booking in and showing us where everything was. Bed comfy, nice and quiet, slept well, room spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good. Would definitely stay again.
- Helen (10/5): My husband visited to attend his motherâs funeral- every detail was taken care of to make the stay perfect. Thank you x - Clean, peaceful, friendly. Perfect All great
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (10/5): Lovely setting - A lovely location, a very short drive/taxi from the town centre. Only there a night but saw deers in the garden and such a beautiful setting.
Host was there to welcome us, and easily accessible if needed.
- Mark (8/5): location to see the area - Comfortable
Value for Money
Location more condiments to choose from
- Gina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maynard (7/5): Good -
- Colin (7/5): Good -
- David (7/5): Good -
- Moe (7/5): If there was an option to choose ensuite bathroom, it would have been better - We had a lovely stay for 2 nights and ours was not attached to bathroom but it was OK. -
- Gillian (8/5): V pleasant - Our room was lovely v comfy beds and Mike was really helpful giving us useful
directions as Sat nav near property not gr8 We didnât realise till we got there and that the private bathroom was not ensuite and we came with young child who needs to use loo in the night but in the end it was all ok
- Michael (9/5): comfortable, good value for the price. - Great breakfast, lovely hot water, warm.
- Tony (9/5): Superb - Host was fantastic, really friendly and supplied all that was needed. Nothing
- Mary (8/5): Comfortable stay with good breakfast. - Beautiful house and lovely location - very comfortable beds and a good breakfast. Mike was very helpful. The room was cold when we arrived, but did warm up once we turned the radiator on. There was noise from traffic in the room we stayed in (although it didnât bother us personally as we stayed only one night, but there were quite a few large noisy vehicles driving past).
- Jack (8/5): Very good -
- Alan (9/5): Very enjoyable and will definitely be back again đđđđđ - Piece and quite lovely location Nothing
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ncky (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and quiet There was nothing wrong with the property
- Jureleen (9/5): Superb - Location and the private bathroom. Friendly owner. Good breakfast with daily fresh milk and juice supply. Unable to open the window to let the fresh air in.
- Roy (10/5): Excellent B&B - Great location. Easy parking. Spacious, comfortable room. Very good facilities. Everything worked. Great host (Mike). Nothing
- Fredrick (10/5): A little gem just outside Bury St. Edmunds . Highly recommended - A little gem with all the amenities one would need
The host Mike was extra attentive to our needs and was very thoughtful
Highly recommended The stairs up to the bedroom âšď¸ a little hard on a 79 yr old
Would chose the room with the ensuite
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (7/5): Good -
- Suzann (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (10/5): As usual everything was good short drive to the Apex - It is a good place to stay
- Joanne (9/5): Would recommend and use again. - Very friendly and helpful host. Fantastic spacious room. The shower! Clean but not powerful enough to stay warm under it.
- Mike (10/5): Great hospitality and comfort - Owner went above and beyond
- Anna (6/5): Pleasant - The room was clean and spacious and the bed very comfortable. It was a very cold day and the heating wasn't initially turned on. It took quite a while for the room to warm up, so I spent the first hour sitting in my coat.
- Chris (10/5): Great place, very clean ,friendly and interesting host, location perfect. - It was a painless transaction and the host was helpful and friendly, I loved the location and the added touches such as the Microwave, Kettle and toaster, milk and breakfast. It was well positioned for my trips into Bury Sy Edmonds and quiet.
The heating was controllable as I like it cool and you can open the windows this is a must in such a lovely location so you can hear the wildlife Bathroom in the room was great and the shower was hot not miserable. Overall just great and I travel a lot and know what I like . For me everything was perfect , only the tv caused me stress as I couldn't work it , should have read the manual in the drawer really, as a result though I did watch a documentary that I hadn't seen so not all bad , just couldn't muster the main TV menu.
- Harry (10/5): Excellent in all areas and very good location to go into Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas - The room was excellent, very good price, every where was very clean, host was friendly, breakfast was good and there was a good brew station.
- Lance (9/5): Superb - Nice spacious, well equipped room in nice location. There was no juice in the breakfast package for some reason.
- Clarissa (10/5): Would 100% recommend! - The owner was really friendly and accommodating, calling me beforehand to let me know they wouldnât be there on my arrival to greet me and explained how to access the property. When I returned that evening, he made a point of coming to say hello as I came through the door, was really friendly and offered me bread and pastries for the morning. The room was lovely, the bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spotless. Lovely range of breakfast items and overall a lovely stay. Iâll definitely be staying again next time Iâm visiting family there!! :)
- Bigjimmy71 (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, comfortable, friendly, and as a business traveller a great place yo come back to after a long day.
- Jo (9/5): Superb - Spacious bedroom, great facilities, friendly staff
- Laura (4/5): Disappointing - Size of room It looked a bit tired - a few cobwebs and paint needed a freshen up. There was a constant drip sound overnight
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Hilary (8/5): We needed a convenient location for various visits, this was ideal. Comfortable, warm and welcoming. -
- Derek (8/5): Everything was OK just a little problem the post code (through no fault of Beightons). - Everything was fine very helpful "Mein Host". Nothing was wrong with the room etc.
- Carl (10/5): Superlative, this is how to run a bed and breakfast - It was secluded, ample parking, with a beautiful garden. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city (I work in London). Ample
sized room, with a bath and shower to compliment, piping hot water with powerful pressure to match. The owner of this property, interacted prior to arrival, nothing was too much trouble, in fact, he was amiable, and made my stay despite a bad week with events beyond my control at home and work enjoyable. If you should wish to extract yourself from the hustle and bustle of city life, with comfort, WiFi and tv with breakfast to boot, donât look to much further than Beightons. In terms of competition and cost, there are many more central, at âdouble the costâ, however, if you want a quiet location without the hassle
Of parking and enjoy the countryside, this is the place to stay. I am humbled by the way I was welcomed by the owner, who despite having a busy lifestyle, made me feel at ease and comfortable. I unreservedly recommend Beightons Bed and Breakfast. This was my first stay, and I shall be booking again. As critical as I could be, there are no faults in respect to this property.
- Clare (10/5): Excellent accommodation, plenty of parking, an amazing shower and a lovely owner. - Breakfast left by your front door so you knew it was fresh. Mike the owner was so welcoming we instantly felt at home. The whole house was exceptionally clean. We had a private bathroom, but it wasnât in our room. (We knew this before booking and it wasnât a problem at all) but that is the only thing I would change.
