• Eichelberg (9/5): A great place to relax and get ready for your hike on the Pekoe Trail. - Short distance to Ceylon Tea Museum and the Pekoe Trail (3 km). Quit area, surrounded by nature. Friendly owners. They gave a bigger room for the same amount. Very good spicy dinner. Exactly as I ordered it. Everything was good. Just note, it's an uphill road with some distance from the main road. Better to come with a tuktuk/taxi.

• Richa (9/5): - This property is amid kush greenery, and is quite posh for the price charged. You can see beautiful sunrise from the balcony.. The glass walls in the room offer scenic views as well. The host and the family were quite cooperative and down to earth. Would highly recommend this place.

• ann (10/5): - Situated in the hills above Kandy. Ananda and his wife welcomed us to their beautiful peaceful home. Each room had a balcony looking onto the forest and all very comfortable and quiet. The home cooking was superb. Ananda delighted in sourcing delicacies and traditional foods for us to try . The buffalo curd with local honey was my absolute favourite. They will cater to your needs and preferences. If i am lucky enough to revisit Sri Kanka i will definitely stay at Hanthana Villa again.

• 么旎旎 (10/5): 非常好的住宿！ - 主人非常热情，去的比较晚，也在等我们。早餐也很不错。父母吃的很开心。第一次儿子吃了早饭日常我们在吃他都在玩。重点一大早醒来就看到猴子在吃窗户前面的菠萝蜜。非常可爱。大家都很开心。当然关于住宿我们非常满意。床很大很宽敞。窗明几净。整个住宿条件都非常好。很好的别墅。这样的生活就幸福指数很高。能感觉出来住宿的主人是个很会生活的人。当时孩子在房间吃黑莓，滴到床上，晚上严厉的批评了孩子，也一大早找到机会和主人说，并且要求赔偿。但是主人完全没有要。让我们也很惭愧但是也真的能感觉出来主人真的非常非常的好。非常感谢，是我们斯里兰卡之旅最快乐的一天。谢谢 没有任何的不满意。

• Elisabetta (10/5): - La struttura è posizionata su una collina facilmente raggiungibile in tuk tuk (10 minuti dal centro), la zona è stupenda e tranquilla, immersa nel verde e nella tranquillità (dopo tutto il giorno nel caos di Kandy ci vuole😅). I proprietari sono delle persone meravigliose, ci hanno preparato colazione e cena, entrambe deliziose! Grazie dell’esperienza, speriamo di tornare a trovarvi presto😊👋🏻

• Annika (10/5): Amazing Family and Location! - The host family are so kind and accommodating to your every need. They made sure we were always comfortable and were quick at communicating. The breakfast was delicious! Especially the Sri Lankan pancakes, which we still talk about a week later. The view from the Livingroom is breath-taking, you can hardly believe you are in a city! Only a short walk away is a view over Kandy. The family also arranged for us to have a wonderful driver named Ravi who took us to see various sites in Kandy that both tourists and locals enjoy. He was the best driver on our whole holiday and went out of his way to give us a memorable experience. Thank you so much for such an excellent stay and we would recommend this family and their home to anyone visiting Kandy. Everything was great, no complaints!

• Mariska (10/5): Lovely guesthouse in nature - We loved our stay in this beautiful villa. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. It's a short tuktuk ride up the hill into the jungle, so we made sure to arrange our tuk tuk pick ups the night before. Such a beautiful place to escape the busyness of Kandy at the end of the day. Highly recommend staying here.
• Tharaka (10/5): - Best place to stay near Pekoe Trail stage 1! This was a home stay which actually felt like home from the beginning till we checked out the next day. The uncle who lives here is wonderful. We felt at home from the moment we stepped into the villa. He really goes the extra mile to take care of his guests like a father. The dinner he prepared was amazing. He packed a picnic breakfast for us to take on our pekoe trail walk the next day. I really liked his company too! Not intrusive and very friendly! He has two cute doggos I absolutely loved! N/A

• Sven Leo (10/5): - The Hanthana Villa was the best accommodation we had during our holidays in Sri Lanka. It is just amazing! Located at the top of the hill, it's super green, quiet and perfect to relax and this is just the building. Our host Ananda is a great soul. It is really no exaggeration saying he is the best host I have ever had! He was so helpful and caring and also helped a lot solving a problem related to Tuk tuk rentals and invested so much time for us. Ananda really cared about us as persons, not profit oriented. We would love to come again and again and can definitely recommend this villa to everyone!

The overall ambiance was beyond perfect and felt like home. It’s definitely a home away from home. Nothing to dislike! Quite literally!

• Laura (10/5): Hermosa casa en lo alto de Kandy! - Habitacion muy limpia, bonita y espaciosa, el dueño gentil y agradable. El lugar en lo alto de Kandy una casa grande y bien arreglada con vistas. La comida y desayuno bien, nos gestionaron un guía con tuk tuk que hablaba muy bien ingles y nos paseó toda la tarde por los templos y otros lugares, precio correcto. Nos llevo al otro dia a la estación de tren. Está bastante lejos del centro, muy arriba en la montaña, no se puede ir caminando, tuk tuk obligatorio.
• Petra (8/5): Sehr herzliche Gastgeber! - Wir reisten spät an und bekamen noch ein leckeres Abendessen gezaubert. Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und hat uns bei all unseren Unternehmungen unterstützt (Tuk-Tuk Fahrer für eine Tagestour, Fahrer zur Weiterreise nach Sigiriya). Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, das Zimmer ausreichend von der Größe und die Dusche hatte eine Duschwand, worüber ich mich sehr gefreut habe. Die Betten waren okay, wir haben gut geschlafen. Ein kleiner Balkon neben dem Wohnzimmer konnte von uns genutzt werden. Das Haus liegt ziemlich abseits von Kandy, mitten im "Dschungel", neben einem Waldstück. Am besten nimmt man ein Tuk-Tuk oder Uber, um dorthin zu gelangen. Einmal sind wir auch nach Kandy runter gelaufen... am Tag. Im Dunkeln sollte man dies besser nicht tun, es wird vor Leoparden im Waldgebiet gewarnt. Wir haben 3 Nächte dort verbracht und bedanken uns für die Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber. Das Bad hätte "in den Ecken" etwas sauberer sein können. Außerdem kam nur ein Rinnsal aus der Dusche. Das hat die Gesamtbewertung aber nicht getrübt, da Preis-Leistung hier passte.
• Marco (8/5): Ottima esperienza! - La casa si trova in un quartiere residenziale su una collina lontana dal trambusto di Kandy, si raggiunge comunque in 5/10 minuti di Tuktuk. Avevamo di fatto a disposizione un intero piano con zona pranzo, salotto e una camera con tutto il necessario. L’host è una persona estremamente disponibile e piacevole con cui parlare. Ottima sia la cena che la colazione I servizi accessori mi sembrano un po’ costosi rispetto ai prezzi medi dell’isola che abbiamo incontrato durante il viaggio. 5 dollari per la colazione sono il costo di un pranzo o una cena al ristorante, per quanto sia ottima e abbondante. Forse avrei evitato di far pagare 3 dollari per una birra bevuta a cena. In ogni caso è un posto che consiglierei e il prezzo basso per il soggiorno compensa 🙂

• Alissa (9/5): - Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit in der Hanthana Villa! Der Host war sehr freundlich, hat uns abends nach Ankunft noch ein Abendessen gezaubert und war auch sonst sehr zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und bestand aus typischen Spezialitäten aus Sri Lanka. Die Lage ist zwar etwas außerhalb, dafür sehr ruhig und kühl am Rande des Waldes gelegen. Die Klimaanlage hat nicht funktioniert, da wir sie aber aufgrund der angenehmen Temperaturen nicht gebraucht haben, haben wir diesbezüglich auch nicht nachgefragt. Aufgrund der Lage war es teilweise schwierig ein Tuktuk zu bekommen, der Host hilft jedoch gerne bei der Organisation.

Abbiamo fatto colazione e cena, tutto squisito. La casa, stupenda, si trova un po' fuori da Kandy ma l'host ci ha organizzato i tuk tuk.e le macchine per cui non abbiamo avuto nessun problema. L'host si è anche offerto di accompagnarci in giornata a Matale lasciando a noi la scelta della tip. Ci ha anche regalato delle calamite a fine permanenza. Tutto veramente perfetto, lui il valore aggiunto

• Luis (8/5): Quiet, cool, house in the hills near Kandy - This family lives in a large house, and they are renting out some of their rooms, so it really is a kind of homestay. They also have some rooms that are not attached to the house, if you prefer more independence. I like how they have opened up their house to guests, so you can experience how a local family lives. Anander speaks English well, so we were really able to converse with him about all kinds of things. They are a very kind, gracious couple. They arranged a guide/tuk-tuk driver for us. The house is outside of the city, up the hill a bit. The area is very quiet and cool, so that was great. But, it is a pretty far walk. You will need to use tuk tuks.

• Ramya (10/5): Welcoming Homestay - This homestay is located in a hilltop. The room is spacious clean and overlooking luscious green trees. The hosts were very friendly, would go over and above to make the guests feel homely and comfortable. Everything was perfect.
• Marta (10/5): Perfect stay with a formidable host - The host was very accommodating. He helped us was whatever request we had (laundry, dinner, tour or Tuk Tuk arrangement). The service was outstanding, going above and beyond our expectations. The room was very clean, with lots of space and light, very comfortable, with a nice view and in a green and quiet area. The bed was very comfortable. We were feeling so great that we extended our stay. The location was a bit tricky, but could be easily arranged with a Tuk Tuk for between 400 or 800 rupees (depending if you get a Pickup ride or not) We were very grateful for the special arrangements for our daughter’s birthday and would recommend the place to anyone with children A bit far from the city center, but could be easily arrange a ride

• Amitava (4/5): I would advise the people that booking should not be made in this lodge, if yo don’t have any transport of your own. I s - Hotel is located on a hilltop. It’s an isolated place and local transport is not available at this location. This Hotel doesn’t not have any food arrangements, whereas Hotel by the side of it serve foods. Moreover, it doesn’t have any front desk reception for reception. I didn’t meet the owner during my stay over there. It was agreed during booking that payment can be made by Credit Card. But it was not accepted during stay and I was insisted for LKR payment. However, later on payment made by Card in adjacent hotel. The conversation was, however, not pleasant.

• Biljana (10/5): Exceptional - The host was amazing. He offered to help us for transport to railway station in early morning. Everything was so clean and spacious. Very much recommended! We came late at night and the road had no street lights so it was hard to find the place.

• Jurij (9/5): Homely atmosphere - I recommend it! - Mr. Ananda is very friendly, he always waits upon arrival and asks how we spent the day and if we need anything. He gave us a free ride into town upon departure as it was too early (5 AM) for the tuk-tuk drivers - thank you again! The location is nice and quiet, but it's quite uphill - you need a tuk-tuk to get around, but you can also take a more active walk (about 35 minutes walking down, a little more uphill). For an additional fee, the staff also prepares a delicious local breakfast. Everything ok!

Everybofy must trgy a place like this. Wonderful.
• Sarah (10/5): Beautiful location and hosts - The most tranquil location away from the business of Kandy. Our room had incredible views and beautiful soundscape from the balcony. Ananda was an amazing host, so incredibly kind and attentive, we felt so welcome and the breakfast was just amazing! The egg hoppers and pancakes were the best! We really enjoyed our stay!
• Desirai (9/5): Superb - We had an absolutely fantastic stay with Mr. Ananda. He was incredibly accommodating, kind and generous. The dinners at the homestay were delicious and also gave us the opportunity to meet other travellers. The place is tucked away from the noise of Kandy, very peaceful and a short walk from the Pekoe trailhead. We were concerned about getting there by tuktuk, but we were easily able to arrange rides with uber or pickme. Mr. Anander very kindly gave us a lift to the train station when we departed. Not a minus, but if you want to be in the hustle and bustle of Kandy, this is not really the place for you. The beauty of it is really being away from all of the noise and having a really 'home' feeling.
• Viktor (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the house, the hospitable host Ananda, and I loved the breakfasts and dinners cooked by Ananda's wife! HHR is located on the hill outside the city, surrounded by luscious green. I slept like a baby and listened to birds' voices. It's a pleasure to take a walk in the area. The Pekoe Trail is near by meandering along the slopes covered with tea plantations. The house and the rooms are meticulously clean and very comfortable. Ananda is eager to help and takes every measure to make your stay enjoyable. He took me around in his car and gave me his sarong to go to the Temple (you need to cover your knees). He is a very warm and supportive person. If you use the services of Ravi, the tuk-tuk driver (and you'll need rides to the city and back), I suggest that you discuss the prices with him beforehand or pay him per ride - otherwise you may be in for an unpleasant surprise like I was when, at the very end, he asked for an amount that was nearly double what I projected (based on reasonable prices well surpassing the PickMe offers). And I didn't have time to discuss as I was rushing to the train. Unfortunately, I was left with the impression that Ravi takes advantage of Ananda's brilliant rapport with his guests. This was the only negative about my stay in HHR.

• Hilary (10/5): Exceptional - It was such an amazing house and experience. Anand and his wife were so welcoming and treated us like their family. We had the run of the house and could use the kitchen when we wanted tea etc. Gorgeous spacious rooms with balconies and views over the trees. It was way up in the forests with such clean fresh air. Ravi the tuk tuk driver was great for hiring for trips. He was very knowledgeable and well known and liked in town. Food was delicious and home cooked. They couldn't do wnough for us. Felt sad to leave. Anand even drove us to the station at 4am just because he wanted to! Highly recommend for a lovely Sri lankan home experience. Thank you so much! Nothing
• Broadhurst (7/5): Good - Owner was very friendly and willing to help, though the tuk tuk driver he arranged only wanted to do things he got commission for and not take us where we wanted to go Home was clean and food was okay Located very far from Kandy center (~5-6km) despite saying less on the app, prices of food were different than advertised
• Anjala (10/5): Great stay with friendly service! - The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner and staff were friendly and accommodating, and the location was convenient. Everything met our expectations. We didn’t have any issues during our stay.
• Davide (10/5): Exceptional - Ananda and his wife are fantastic hosts, they were always available to help in any occasion. For example, My girlfriend was sick for a few days and Ananda was so kind that he scheduled an appointment with a doctor to get some advice and medicines. The location is also beautiful, in front of a huge forest in which a wild.leopard resides. Fantastic experience, definitely recommended.
• Wanasinghe (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed like own home, got fantastic hospitality service with delicious foods. Ample space for the living and dining room. Well friendly echo environment. Highly recommended who's willing to escape with nature.. 👍

• Jehan (3/5): Poor - Nice spacious rooms. Everything was clean. Quiet area. Location is a bit out of the way. The main problem, however, is that the owner is dishonest and overcharges his rooms. I wasn't paying attention when he asked me to pay for our stay because we were in a hurry, but we were supposed to pay 70$, which is about 20000 lkrs according to google. On our bill, he wrote 70$ and changed it to 33750 lkrs, basically overcharging us 13750 Lkrs, which is 46$!!! So instead of getting 3 rooms for 70$ for one night, we paid 116$!. So if you decide to stay at his place please be careful. I am very dissappinted with the owner. You can see a picture of the bill in question attached to my comment.
• Michael (10/5): Great Experience!! - Quiet, spacious room with an amazing view of the jungle just outside of busy and dusty kandy. Andana, his wife are such warm and welcoming people. They prepared amazing food for us and even taught us how to cook it :) Ravi, the Tuc Tuc driver who picked us up and drove us to great spots and temples was a great company! They all gave us good recommendations and helped us getting tickets for the train. We would definitely recommend everybody to stay here for an outstanding experience :) The sanitary facilities are a bit older, but that didn't bother us at all as they were still on a solid level.

• Siyagunekosgodage (9/5): Superb - The friendly hospitality of the entire staff, including the aides. Excellent breakfasts we enjoyed. Quiet setting with a fantastic view. The host was very kind enough to offer us a free ride to the bus station on the day of our departure. The washroom is not modern (outdated fittings but functional, though).

• Rok (10/5): An amazing place - Probably the best budget accommodation we had in Sri Lanka! The room was absolutely amazing, huge with great views all around. And exceptionaly clean. The location is good too, its right at the start of the forest, meaning great sights and sounds, but less than 10 minutes by tuk tuk from Kandy central. And the hosts are so so friendly and helpful. Wholy recommend!
• Prageeth (10/5): Exceptional - First and foremost, the owner (Sorry, I couldn't get his name 🫣) welcomed us & showed everything in a very heartfelt manner. Facilities & cleanliness were superb. Location is so calm & during the stay, I actually had the thought of even extending the period of stay. When we go to Kandy, there are no second thoughts of choosing the same place.
• Agata (10/5): The best place to stay in Sri Lanka! ❤️ - Everything was perfect! ❤️ big space, comfortable beds, very clean. And the most important the greatest hosta in the world, we feel like they were our family so it was really hard to say goodbye. They are so kind and helpful with everything. Take breakfast! It was the best breakfast during our trip in Sri Lanka 😋

• Mateusz (9/5): Superb - The breakfasts and dinners were great and pretty cheap as breakfast was 3$ and 4$ for dinner. The host was always making traditional Sri Lankan dishes so you could experience their culture a bit. He also helped in arranging tuck tuck that took us around the whole city which was great.
