• Oren (7/5): - Staff are great and dinner was tasty. We left early but got a bento breaky. Onsen is very nice. Close to bus stop. Rooms are spacious. Small bean pillow was rock hard, and we both didn't find it comfortable. The room was too hot for the thick futon blanket so you were either too hot under or too cold without it.

• Victoria (10/5): Amazing experience! Would come back next time! - We stayed at Yunominesou for 4 nights and it was an amazing experience. The staff are all very welcoming and super helpful with everything we needed. They helped us decide on which hikes to do and how to get there, answered a bunch of other questions we had, and overall made the stay very enjoyable. We also really enjoyed all of the meals and they were able to accommodate dietary restrictions (one of us is vegetarian) and the food was delicious. The onsen was also a highlight of our stay and we really enjoyed it. We also did karaoke (super fun and found all songs we wanted), did laundry (very convenient), and the massage chair (a nice free perk). This is our second time staying here and would definitely come back next time!

Aunque al reservar pone baño compartido hay toilet privado dentro de la habitación. La ducha sí es compartida, se encuentra en el onsen. Las instalaciones son un poco viejas, sobre todo el toilet de la habitación. Pagamos por un desayuno que no pudimos comer al ser 100% japonés, no había ni café. Si te gusta el desayuno japonés paga por el desayuno, porque tenía muy buena pinta pero si te gusta desayunar café y desayuno occidental no pagues por el desayuno. La almohada es durísima!

Le onsen (due private esterne, due pubbliche interne con anche parte esterna) meritano molto! Lo stesso vale pera cucina! Mi spiace solamente non essere rimasto di più!

Pensei que não iria saciar a fome meninos adolescentes que comem bastante, mas foi muito farto. Staff do restaurante excelente. Onsen muito agradavel mas com desgaste natural do tempo. Futon macio e enxoval muito bom. Gostamos muito das yutaka e do cha com biscoitos de boas vindas. Neste ryokan sentimos que viajamos no tempo e na cultura do Japão. Para ser um ryokan mais autentico o vaso sanitario poderia ser separado do ofuro.

• Lee (10/5): Superb! - The staff were very friendly and extra helpful. They properly explained the features and facilities of the hotel, as well as the rules and regulations. They were also very prompt. Dinner was served exactly at 6:30PM. Talking about the dinner, it was exceedingly delicious and sumptuous. There were a total of 13 Japanese dishes, and the staff took time to explain how to eat them and in what order. The hotel also had both private and public onsens (shared with other guests). My friends and I had the best experience, given that we had just completed our Kumano Kodo. Breakfast was equally delicious. Lastly, we are deeply grateful to the staff member who drove us to the nearest bus station to ensure that we did not miss our forward schedule. Everyone, book your stay at the Yunominesou. It’s super worth it. Nadaaaa.

Staff were always helpful and were enthusiastic about providing excellent service. Onsens and meals were fantastic! My room was also very comfortable and roomy with good facilities. I liked everything, it was a short walk to the hotel from the end of the walk, thats the only thing.

• Bolivar (10/5): The best relaxing night of our trip. - The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and spoke English very well. From the moment we checked in, we got to relax right away and change into Yukatas. The private onsen were fantastic. The meals were phenomenal (both dinner and breakfast the next morning). They were Japanese styled, so strong flavours for breakfast for the average westerners, but I believe they can do western breakfasts as well. Definitely a very relaxing stay. It is in a remote location, but because of it, it’s the perfect reward after doing something like the Kumano Kodo

J'avais hésité à manger sur place mais le repas était fantastique pour un prix très raisonnable. Les futons sont un peu fin, enfin comme tout les futons japonais....Sauf qu'ici on m'a directement installé deux autres futons afin d'avoir une épaisseur agréable et honnêtement c'était niquel. Enfin le point incroyable : la vue ! Se lever avec une vue directe sur les montagnes mais quel plaisir ❤️ J'ai beau chercher, je ne trouve pas 😅
• Kristin (10/5): - Toll in jeder Hinsicht! Super schöne, sehr große Zimmer im japanischen Stil mit Blick in die Landschaft und ganz tolle, wunderschöne Onsen. Kaum was los und sehr erholsam! Das Essen Abends hervorragend und das japanische Frühstück auch eine interessante Erfahrung und sehr lecker und frisch. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der außergewöhnliche Service des freundlichen, sehr gut Engliscj sprechenden Personals, das mit mir zusammen die weitere Reise plante mit sämtlichen Busfahrplänen und Unstiegen. So war alles entspannt. Mit dem Shuttle kostenfrei nach Yunomine Onsen gebracht, wo Busverbindung besteht zu den anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Sehr schöne Gegend, jederzeit wieder!

Pickup from Yunomine Public Onsen to the hotel is always timely whenever we text them via Booking.com message apps, impressed with their service. We like the different variety of dinner dishes for the 3 nights we spent, we enjoyed very much that attentiveness! We had a last minute request for a bento lunch box for 3 pax in one morning and they were ready within 15mins when we were ready for the pre-arranged shuttle service from the hotel to Yunomine Onsen bus-stop, everything is well managed and organised... Staffs speak good English and some were able to communicate Mandarin, good effort! Special thanks to Taka san! Interior is little aged, good to upgrade especially those units with a balcony because it’s a waste that we can’t open the balcony to enjoy the fresh mountain air

From the moment we arrived (not quite dressed for any occasion, after a hefty day hike in pouring rain), to the moment we left, the staff was extremely helpful. When we found out late in the evening our planned train connection wasn't available after all, they helped us find an alternative and offered bento boxed breakfast, only to come knocking on our door 5min later when they thought of an even better option by driving us to a bus stop a few villages away early the morning. Special thanks to Tak from the front desk! Dinner and breakfast were also an exciting culinary journey :-) Nothing really. This is a traditional Japanese place, so no private bathroom, but that's clearly described in the listing.

Even though we arrived looking like wet dogs, they were very kind and gracious, giving us towels and drying our hiking boots. They gave us a ride to the bus the following morning. • Byarndyr (9/5): Superb - Yunominesou feels like an older resort-type hotel. I found it comfortable and charming. The staff were all very friendly, kind, attentive, and helpful. I am not accustomed this level of service! Although brief, before and after dinner, I really enjoyed chatting with the young man who had welcomed me to the hotel and later served dinner. The room was enormous for one person, but still cozy. Dinner was very good and rather wild in it's variety. Breakfast was quite simple (in comparison) and delicious. The onsen baths were really lovely and relaxing. I especially enjoyed the outdoor bath at night. The hotel is down and then back up a steep hill from Yunomine proper, overlooking a valley village below. It would be unsafe to walk at night, but I enjoyed both the view and my walks in either direction. I loved the local art in the lobby gift shop. While I enjoyed dinner and the experience of it (multiple courses served in-room), I would have preferred not to eat horse meat. Out of respect for my hosts and the culture, I will eat whatever I'm served, but this was unexpected.
• Michelle (10/5): Incredible service, amazing meals. - A fantastic place to relax and perfectly situated to explore the Kumano Kodo snd the surrounding Onsen area. The service at Yunominesou is truly exceptional. Staff are friendly, attentive to every detail and completely committed to guest comfort and needs. Fluent English is spoken and great advice about local transport and sightseeing options is offered every day. The hotel mini-bus is available to take guests to nearby bus stops and, in our case, was gladly used to rescue us when we missed our bus. The food is fantastic. Generous and endlessly fascinating Japanese meals were an absolute highlight of our stay at Yunominesou. Consistently with the hotel’s dedication to guest service and comfort, wonderfully illustrated instruction sheets were provided with each dinner to describe the multiple courses, and became a souvenir in themselves. We loved both the private and public onsens at the hotel. Free of charge, indoor and outdoor, and open around the clock, they were great to come home to after long days of hiking.The facilities include an interesting and very reasonably priced gift shop in the foyer, yukatas for every guest, washing machines and dryers, karaoke rooms (so cheaply priced and fun to use while you do your washing), massage chairs, table tennis tables and more. We bought a yukata to bring home (also very reasonably priced). We will definitely be returning to Yunominesou. It was a highlight of our stay in Japan.

Rooms are lovely too with balcony and views of forest. There is a fridge with mini bar too. The pillows were a bit too hard for my liking. It is a 10 min walk from the main village however given the food and activities included there was no need to leave the premises.

• Chun (10/5): Exceptional - I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The room was clean and beautifully decorated with a traditional feel that gives it a charming, vintage atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, they assisted us in arranging our trip schedule and even drove us to the bus station the next morning to ensure we wouldn't miss our bus. The on-site onsen was incredibly relaxing, especially during the winter months, as it really captures a cozy vibe. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its great service and relaxing ambiance!
