Guest Reviews
- smith (7/5): -
- Akiva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Odonnell (8/5): Very good -
- Francesco (6/5): Is ok - The pool is nice, but not easy to find a sunbeds, all are "booked" by tourists No english speaking at reception, only russian
- Nikola (7/5): Quiet location - Clean room, quiet location, but breakfast was not very impressive. Pirate ship area was closed.Good price
- Hamid (8/5): Very good - The staff is extremely polite and friendly, although they lack facilities in the restaurant and other places, they do their best to make you feel comfortable.
- James (8/5): - Excellent staff and facilities. Area outside is a little rough but not bad. Many restaurants and markets within walking distance as well as the beach. I recommend having the Bolt app for taxi service.
- Esposito (8/5): Enjoyable - Even with lots of families and kids this place was relaxing outside of the main busy loud spots of Pattaya but still close enough to take a grab or bolt taxi for cheap there. The pools area were well maintained everyday and Staff absolutely went above and beyond to make us feel good changing us room or coming right away if something was not functioning right. Room was good size and very comfortable. Cheap breakfast in the morning and The shuttle bus bringing us for free all day to and from the beach was convenient. We really wish that there was more life to the hotel like the bar at the lobby was always close without any music and the restaurant was only open from 10:00-12:00pm (2hrs) after breakfast if you wanted some lunch options it was much more limited but apparently we came in a too quiet time…
- Michael (1/5): Bad location, run down property, stay away. - The big pool was pretty nice everything was very dated, it was dirty, and there was a very bad sewer smell in our room and on our floor. The property is in serious need of a facelift. The second Pool had 20% of the tiles falling off and it was covered with algae. The maid never came once to clean the room in three days. Stay somewhere else.
- Norman (7/5): My stay was comfortable. 7/11 close by. Motorbike rental accross the street. - Location was good. It serves the purpose of a place to stay that’s clean and try’s to offer a bit of luxury. It’s pretty used up. A lot of people have been through it. The reception area is not nice. The reception was acceptable. The staff didn’t engage much. But that’s ok with me.
- Jinzhu (7/5): Good -
- R. George (2/5): - 1. The room service was bad. They do not re supply the basics like coffee, toilet paper.
2. Bathrooms have mold; I don’t believe they clean them
3. The food was insipid and horrible.
4. The batteries in the remotes are dead
- Louis (10/5): Home from home very luxurious place to unwind and enjoy your break - Absolutely wonderful place stayed several times last few years very homely local to the beach 🏖️
And local bars & restaurants although the food in the restaurant at Sonia’s is excellent both value and quality Can’t answer this I like it all
- Robert (3/5): not nice. - The picture of the hotel that is shown to promote this hotel is totally misleading, it is not the Sonia hotel.
A 'guest' staying in the Sonia hotel can use the swimming pool and gym however, the people who rent the apartments in the other complex are not friendly, there is no seating around the main pool area for guests from the Sonia hotel only for the people rent each apartment which are placed outside there door area.
The staff in the Sonia hotel are not helpful and seemed reluctant to give out the 'only one' key card to gain entry to the gym in the other complex which is very small in any case.
The entrance to the Sonia hotel is an absolute disgrace for a reported 4 star hotel, as said the photos shown are not of the Sonia hotel.
The lifts walls and floor are filthy and require a good clean.
The Sonia hotel is no where close to a 4 star as claimed, it is a 2.5 to 3 star at best. The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly plus the overall decor is old and shambolic.
- Skharia (9/5): Superb - Good place to stay
- Louis (10/5): Home from home with a caring service every time - I’ve stayed here several times in the last few years
It’s like home to me staff are courteous helpful
I’ve extended my stay again and highly recommend Sonia’s
- Thomas (8/5): fine for that price - Except it wasnt very clean when i arrived, and i had to vocaly tell them to clean when i wanted that , i thought it was quite allright..
I didnt eat at hotel, or use the outside facilitys , as the beach was a 10min walk away, and was very nice .. then again, i like to not be bothered , so for me it was the best out of the 3 hotels i tried in pattaya..
- Gareth (8/5): Great pool area - Really lovely pool area. 15 minute pleasant walk to beach. Great local restaurants nearby and convenience stores. Great place stay for a short break in Na Jomtien.
- Mako (10/5): - It was very satisfied.
There’s 7/11 downstairs and the room was clean. khop kun ka🙏
- AdrianP368 (6/5): I would avoid / Don’t use balcony/ don’t eat breakfast/ Ghosts roam haha - We Wouldn’t stay here again,
The security guard on the gate left his post to show us around the room on 8th floor and around the pool, strangely we saw not one other guest and we were the only car in the car park . hotel was ghostly quiet even going out and back we saw not one other person, the following morning we went down for breakfast and wasn’t suprised that we were the only ones there .
was small paper wax cups for coffee , the water boiler never stoped trying to boil, so i gave up .
A waiter brought the pre ordered breakfasts that we had to choose on booking the day before.
The breakfast looked fair tbh but the whole thing was stone cold , it could of been cooked yesterday .
nothing had even been warmed up ,
we decided to check out at 8:45am as the whole hotel seemed to spooky .
they say not far from the beach but i’m happy i had my own transport as 1/2 a mile walk one way would be a pain on those walkways in the heat .
the room was a fair price and clean although do not use the balcony as its only to get you to rent with a balcony please do not lean on the rails they are flimsy and a Tragedy waiting to happen.
it’s a long way down.
Was no refund offered on breakfast nor any apology
If only i’d seen this review before i wouldn’t of booked haha
- Alvaro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isak (3/5): Poor -
(6/5): Pleasant -
- Ben (8/5): Great for the price. Especially the pool - Pool is awesome staff is great. Only issue was our room wasn’t cleaned daily and barely get any toilet paper. If walking street is your main plan you’ll be a bit far to go there daily. If jomtien beach is in your plans it’s only a couple block walk.
- joseph (2/5): - The king size bed was actually 2 twin mattress’s that you kept falling in the cracks. I was charged for a glass that broke since they don’t have plastic/paper cups.
- Tom (10/5): long stay - I stayed in two different rooms. The first was nice but the second room on the 3rd floor as shown was the better of the two. I really liked my stay here and I would definitely do it again. The pool/s are certainly interesting and kids seem to really enjoy them. There were always people swimming but it was never crowded. 7-11 is close by and there is good street food just in front of it. The beach is a bit of a walk but there are some shops along the way. Sonia Residence seems to be a good value for the money.
- Olga (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (10/5): - Lovely and clean. Nice little gym.
- Iris (2/5): Terrible...deserves no stars - If I could give zero stars I would.
Where to start.....advertised with kitchenette yet no cooktop, no plates, bowls only 2 cups. No cutlery, not even a spoon.
Bathroom...door won't close with pulling and banging hard. Toilet seat broke and hanging off. Rusty TP holder. Bum gun was disgusting with rust and stains. Very dirty rim in toilet bowl. Rusty/dirty grout in shower. Dirty walls. Broken/hanging down light surrounding mirror. Broken faucet can swivel it around. Dirty louvers.
Room...only 2 flat pillows, dirty curtains, dirt down side of sofa. After 3 days of no room cleaning Had to keep asking for room cleaning and towel change.
Staff...unfriendly staff at reception, ignored, ability to communicate in English even a little non existent. Spent most (90%) of time on their phones. Lots of staff sitting around on phones.
Restaurant always seemed closed. Always in the dark.
Hall and elevators dirty and needs cleaning.
Drive/walkway up to reception was like a back alley...dark rough walkway.
Common area and reception very dark and dingy...not welcoming.
One of if not the worse hotel we have ever stayed in. Do not believe pictures on Hotel.com. Scam.
- Rajashri (8/5): Very good -
- Alvaro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yves (8/5): Very good -
- Dave-mc (4/5): Disappointing - There is no refrigerator in the room.
- S (7/5): Good -
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- triciapacker (10/5): Staff and room - Looking for a great place with wonderful rooms, perfect pool and outstanding staff come here. Everyone was super helpful and breakfast had something for everyone. We can’t say enough about it and will come back.
- satawatt2019 (10/5): Best Value and Comfy and Clean - Room is clean and comfortable.
Accommodation is good for your satisfaction.
The swimming pool is brilliant.
Overall is best value for money for business trip.
This hotel is best for family holiday too and they have a huge swimming pool all around the hotel. The kids will love it.
- Mr J T (8/5): Relaxing stay -
We were pleased with the hotel itself, particularly the interconnected pools which we used almost every day. It had a taxi service to the bus station and we had a late checkout (5pm) on the last day so the stay ended on a good note. The surrounds were less impressive and we went to the beach area only twice, once to swim and once to the night market. Although we found one restaurant where the food was OK the streets were filthy and smelly. Anyway it was good to sit poolside and relax even if we saw little of the Thai people’s lives.

- chris (2/5): Worst hotel ever - Extremely uncomfortable beds. Pillows are way too big and hurt your neck. Asked for new pillows and they refused.
Restaurant was closed.
Lights in room did not work.
Reception lady was rude and unpleasant.
Very loud.
Pool is very small.
Breakfast was scarce and terrible.
Not worth more than $20 a night place is terrible.
Poorly managed but has potential. The English lady manager is very rude.
The English speaking lady manager tried to rip us off.
Very tricky mean lady. Do not stay here. Way better places in this price range actually on the beach instead of 10 blocks away
- 113curtisc (2/5): Terrible - Wow this place is the worst. Terrible hard bed. Huge cheap pillows that break your neck when you sleep. Cheap blankets on beds.
Our bathroom door handle fell off when we closed the door on our first night.
Our bathroom light doesn’t work.
We have a pool suite. Sounds nice! Until you realize that this small pool is the same one for the whole hotel of over 150 rooms! Just try to sleep at 10pm when they allow guest to scream and do cannon balls and diving into a tiny pool literally 4 feet from your bed. We called and complained about the noise and we were told “sorry there’s nothing we can do”. They said the asked them to leave but they didn’t. I had to go out in my boxers and tell them all myself. Great customer service!
Well fast forward to day two.
We wanted to upgrade to a room with a softer bed and higher quality pillows. Price displayed on front desk showing a price difference of 480 baht between our current room and the better one. She Insisted on charging me a surcharge for a “walk in rate” totalling nearly 1000 baht!!
More than double of what’s displayed on their own price sheet at the reception desk.
Even the difference in the price of room on my booking website Expedia is only 300 baht! Total ripoff.
This management would rather keep us unhappy and uncomfortable than rent the better room in a completely empty hotel or rip us off. The english speaking lady manager should be fired for taking such terrible care of their supposedly appreciated guests. No wonder why this place is empty!
The hotel restaurant was closed due to low occupancy.
There is another restaurant for the resort side of the property so I’ve gone there twice and it’s been a gong show both times. Only person in there and it took 20 minuets for a beer and next day 25 minuets for a cup of coffee in a completely empty restaurant. Over an hour both times for the food. They brought us the wrong dish and the server and chef had a yelling match in front of us. Absolutely terrible customer service and terribly managed property.
Will never come back and will never will suggest another traveler to stay here.
In the end bad experience and very disappointing!!!
- Storyteller642939 (2/5): Terrible service everywhere. Very uncomfortable beds - Service here is horrid, wait 1.5 hours + for food at the restaurant that is dead empty.30 minutes for them to bring you a beer or a coffee? It’s like they take your order then fly in to space every time. They messed up our order on both occasions visiting the restaurant and screamed at each other in front of us.
Beds are super uncomfortable, rock hard, look comfortable in the photos but trust me they are not! Super cheap, huge neck breaking pillows with no other option, cheap plastic, scratchy feeling duvet.
Horrible customer service. Good god. Tried upgrading to a bigger room, the difference online was 350 baut where we booked the room (Expedia). They didn’t want to do the difference of that price which is (kind of) understandable, but not really.
So, they have displayed right in the lobby in front of your face the prices for the rooms, and the room we wanted to upgrade to was displayed clearly at 480 baht more then the room we had. She refused to let us pay the difference of the rate to upgrade to the bigger room and insisted we must pay the made up “walk in rate” of 1000 baht for the bigger room instead. What in the hell? We argued with them for a good 20 minutes about this at the front desk and still no resolution.
The hotel is also dead empty, so empty the restaurant that’s suppose to be open as advertised is closed at 7:00.
On top of all of this, the first night there were 20+ Chinese adult and children (a TON of them!) playing, splashing, cannon balling and yelling DIRECTLY in front of our room from 9pm-10pm (our room has a slim swimming pool literally 1 foot from our sliding glass door, directly in front of it where the bed is, that apparently is public). I understand that pool hours go until 10pm, but if people are being totally unreasonably loud, at any time, but especially in the evening, they should be talked to and be told to be quiet. When we called the front desk they repeatedly told us they would not do anything about it and we had to ourselves, twice.
Oh, and the bathroom light doesn’t work so we’ve been using the bathroom in the dark.
There are many other hotels in Pattaya that are the same or cheaper that are much more comfortable with better beds and service. Highly recommend skipping this place and spending your money elsewhere, or you will likely be very disappointed.
- , From two very experienced travellers...
- rachneebkk (10/5): Good New Hotel with Excellent Pools - The Residence is part of the Seven Seas Condo and Resorts located at Chaiyapruek road.... The hotel itself is new and everything about it was spotless and clean... we took 2 connecting rooms as we were travelling with family.... all rooms has a balcony and ours was a view of the ocean. The breakfast layout was a little scarce as they didn't have a station for eggs. Both days only scrambled egg was an option. I would suggest anyone travelling wirh children to stay here as the pool is really good and kids enjoy.
