Guest Reviews
- Shawn (8/5): - Overall, ok. rooms are older and amenities are pretty basic. good value for the price though. Staff at resort and the bar and restaurant were amazing! grounds and pool are amazing as well.
- mary pat (6/5): - Extremely small motel room. Strong scented cleaning products and no screens on windows.
- Marcy (10/5): - Love this place its the best
- Marcy (10/5): - The hot pool is amazing
- Naala (10/5): - We love our visits to Terrace Lakes! It's a relaxing and fun getaway. The staff and patrons are friendly and the pool is wonderful.
- Catherine (10/5): - The cabin was clean and comfortable, with easy access to the clubhouse and pool. The landscape improvements, and colorful umbrellas, greatly enhanced the clubhouse and pool areas. This was a noticeable change since my last visit. Another enjoyable stay at Terrace Lakes!
- Ronna (2/5): Worst trip to a beautiful setting ever! - The staff were hostile, the cabin was filthy and uncomfortable in every way imaginable, and the restaurant was disgusting!
- Lynette (8/5): - The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. The check-in staff and restaurant staff are always friendly and helpful.
They do need to replace their window coverings. They are mini blinds and are either bent so there are gaps or they have been cut to make holes. I’ve had to be creative with washcloths and pillows to feel like I have privacy.
It would also be really nice if the pool was open until 10 every night. I’ve been up there working and don’t usually get off until 8, which is when the pool closes. I’ve really been disappointed to not be able to soak in the pool.
- Cynthia (2/5): Only as a very last resort would I stay here. - Bathroom was dirty, toilet was gray inside.
Room extremely small. Steps at entrance rickety and outside lighting minimal. Onsite restaurant was abysmal. We decided to drive back to Boise after seeing the performance at the Starlight Theater rather than spend the night even though we had paid for the room.
- Debbie (2/5): - It was horrible! Not at all as advertised, dirty, air conditioner could not work as filter was too dirty. Porch had not been swept for a long time, blinds broken but didn’t matter as the windows too dirty to see through. Directly next door was two old cars with weeds up to door handles. The other side was the motel” what a joke. In our room was a small table and chairs, I was afraid to even sit in one as the legs were so wobbly, I weigh 135. When I went & addresefd my concerns to Phil in the office I was told they have been told that before! Really?? I would not have stayed if it was free. We Opted to drive 5 hours to go home. There went our nice evening . The pictures on Expedia are of the golf course and their club house. I am not a complainer, but this place was disgusting and I will be addressing my concerns to Expedia and the lodge.
- Chimena (8/5): - We always enjoy staying here just keep in mind that it is a hot springs and the hotel rooms use thermal water and it does smell sulfuric. Overall beautiful we love it
- Dusti (8/5): - Beautiful area and lots to do
- ella (4/5): Nasty - Working.com needs to start looking at the properties before they allow them on website this place was dirty old and then and then we had no water. I told the person that I checked out this morning that there was no water she said basically that’s too bad didn’t offer any cancellations at all Not a very good.
- Charles (8/5): Need TLC - The best things by far about this place is the friendly staff, the golf course and the pool. The condition of our cabin was habitable and very much in need of updating and repair. The surrounding grounds were cluttered. We understand rustic but the room and grounds were just below par.
- Gary (8/5): - It is great view and right in the moutains. The rooms are small. And the bathroom really small. Beds and everything else was great. One note, there is no cellphone coverage and the wifi does NOT make it to the rooms in the motel.
- ph (4/5): Nice Resort, Not the Motel or Customer Service - When I arrived and saw a beautiful golf course, pool and clubhouse, I thought I was in for a treat. It went downhill from there. I arrived at 4:45 pm and there was no one at the office to check in. The only person I could find was a young girl working in the cafe. She told me that the office manager ran an errand and would return soon. After waiting 10 minutes I asked again, and this time she said maybe another 15 minutes. After driving 11 hours I really wanted to check in, so I went to the golf shop. Here I learned that the manager was picking up her golf cart for a 5:30 game. He finally agree to call someone on a cell phone and I finally checked in. Terrible service.
The room was the opposite of the resort, old, 9'x10' with no fridge or microwave. The latch on the old doorknob would not open fully, so I literally had to ram into the door with my shoulder to get it open. Not pleasant on my 70 year-old body.
That evening I wanted some ice for a cold glass of water and once again asked the only person working, the young girl in the restaurant, where I could find the ice machine. She told me that the only one was in the restaurant and not for guests, so if I wanted ice I would have to buy a bag (where is anyone's guess.)
I shudder to think what would have happened if I had arrived any later to check in with no way to reach anyone to help me. The phone number they provide just goes to the office voice mail, so I would likely have been sleeping in my car.
- Rob (6/5): - Gorgeous setting. Friendly and helpful staff, nice pool area. Room less than desirable, ac ineffective, toilet stained or dirty, no lamps in bedroom, lightbulbs burned out in bathroom, sink very slow draining, shower curtain stained, window blinds with slats broken, no place for personal belongings and no wifi access in room.
- Nick (2/5): - The advertisement for the "motel" portion of the property is vastly incorrect; tiny room with paper thin walls, probably the smallest TV I've ever seen, no wifi and an incredibly dirty (with half a roll of TP total) bathroom with mildew-smelling towels. Extremely over-priced for what you're actually getting. To top it off, the staff upon check in were extremely unwelcoming, barely greeted us when we walked in...WE had to say hello and ask questions. Then upon check out WE then again had to ask what we needed to do with the room key because no one even looked up from their desk, said anything, etc when we walked in.
- Bonnie (8/5): - Average cleanliness not perfect. couch old and not clean windows not clean the bed was very worn with big dips needs new mattress I liked the employees very friendly and the pool was clean and nice the shower room was slippery they might want to check that so no falls
- Brittney (2/5): - Had the worst experience I have ever had with the gentleman, Terry that worked the front desk. I have never been treated so poorly by an employee of a place I’ve stayed before and for no good reason whatsoever. The place wasn’t anything special in terms of the rooms/ amenities but I would have considered returning in the future because we live going to the starlight plays but after that treatment from the gentleman at the front desk I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone. I’m still very upset by this encounter. He’s an older gentleman and spoke to me in front of other guests as though I was a child he was scolding. So extremely unprofessional! I am a mom with two kids who was enjoying a little time away with a friend and this encounter put a huge damper on what otherwise would have been a very enjoyable getaway.
- Katherine (8/5): Great getaway, great golf - The cabin was a little cramped, but the bed was comfy. Glad we brought our own drinking water. As expected at a hot springs there was a strong sulphur smell to the water. We ate in the bar and had a good sampling of the food which was pretty good. Drinks were good. Staff was super friendly. The pool was very nice and the water was great. Very nice front 9 on the golf course with great rates. Good selection in the pro shop. Nearby Crouch had cute shops and more food/drink options with a decent grocery store.
- Jene (2/5): - The room that was given to my husband was not clean and then they ended up putting him in a pet friendly room and it stunk like strong urine. He ended up just leaving.
- Marcy (10/5): - It was amazing. Stay there all the time. Love it
- Jillene (10/5): - Small rooms but everything we needed for a weekend at the hot springs!
- Heidi (4/5): - It is economical, but there’s trash everywhere.
- Lynne (6/5): Need to up your game - Room was very, very small, water drained slowly from sink, shower hot water took awhile to get hot and then adding cold water to adjust hot water gave me ice cold water. It took awhile to get water adjusted to take a shower. No closet to hang clothes. Only hooks on wall. Very cheap accommodations. It would have been more appropriate to charge $25 instead of $79
- Heather (4/5): - I like the pool, restaurant and bar. The room wasn't very good. It was too hot and needs updated.
- Kelly (10/5): - Feeling of cabin in the forest. Excellent restaurant.
- Sharon (10/5): - Cabin was great., very cute. Everything was wonderful except the coffee. Need better coffee
- Kenneth (6/5): No wifi in the rooms - Weather was great allot of snow but the room's were bad and no wifi expect in the club house good maybe for one night only
- Dru (2/5): - The lady at the front desk was really nice, but the room (#3) was horrible. The room smelt like urine, the sheets smelt like urine (we had to strip the bed, the light brown blanket smelt like it was left in the washer for days and the floor felt soggy. The room is literally big enough for a queen size bed and 2 small night stands. I would not stay here again.
- Kelly (2/5): Worst Hotel I’ve Ever Stayed - This place is totally run down and doesn’t look anything like the photo’s online. The rooms are so small the be just fits in the room and the flat screen T.V. is about the size of a laptop computer screen. Also, there is no wifi in the rooms although they say there is wifi you need to walk across the street to their restaurant to use the wifi.
- James (8/5): -
the room served our purpose. we needed a room and a bed for the night. the room was clean and warm. the price was right for the room.
- lori (6/5): - Hot pool was delightful
- James (2/5): Never stay here! - Awful! Careless! Couldn’t wait to get sway from this place!!
- Greg W (6/5): Adequate, room extremely small - Check in was not obvious and the lady didn't really know what she was doing. The room was probably the smallest room we have ever stayed in while traveling in the United States. Barely fit our things in the space. The need was comfortable and the bathroom clean. Adequate for one night but not more.
- lauren (2/5): - .
- Peggy (10/5): Golf getaway - The cabin was cute, small but perfect for our needs. We were there to golf. Grest community and friendly staff who were very helpful. We didnt get to soak in the pool. But will next time
- Shelly (10/5): - Great restaurant/bar area, beautiful view. Motel rooms are small, but worked for a short weekend getaway. Nice hot pool.
- Kamile (6/5): - The cabin was okay. The hot water smelled of sulfur. For $100 and one night was okay.
- Shawn (6/5): - July 24, we got there and there was no power. Supposed to be back on at 10 but still nothing. No internet and very warm couldn't sleep til 230 in the morning.
- Linda (6/5): - The motel room and bath is very small with no surface to put anything, no closet to hang anything. except for one hook on the wall!
- Holger (10/5): - Great Place I would like to return!
- Daniel Thomas (10/5): - Nice bar and restaurant
- Greg (2/5): - Small and no fan in the bathroom
- Steven (2/5): - Rooms are poorly maintained and dirty. Know what you’re getting, room, shower and toilet. It was well below standards but checked some boxes. It’s in a great location however dirty. If you stay more than 1 night they do not offer housekeeping.
- Steven (2/5): - Super dirty but will keep the rain out I think.
- Angela (6/5): - The sheets were dirty.
- Peggy (4/5): - Garden Valley is beautiful and wildlife is abundant.
Rooms are clean and quiet; we never heard our neighbors.
Motel room had comfortable bed, but room was SO tiny it held only a bar for hanging clothes and 2 tiny bedside tables, 1 which was taken up with a coffee maker.
No refrig or microwave. No chairs; just the bed for sitting.
The geothermal-heated pool and adjacent dining areas were very nice, and easily accessed by walking. Few vegan/vegetarian options; this is southern Idaho after all. ;)
Office hours are limited, so although we were able to access our room key in the restaurant, we were unable to ever catch up with anyone specifically to fix our remote/TV (did not work) or coffee maker (did not work well). FYI: NO INTERNET in these rooms!
And phone service coverage is spotty throughout Garden Valley.
Overall, it was an okay place to sleep but we will not stay again on our next trip.
- Jay (8/5): - We had a great time!
- Mike (10/5): - Nice relaxing atmosphere. Restaurant was quiet and very reasonable. Food was good!
- Donnie (10/5): - Friendly staff. Cozy little cabin
- Wendy (10/5): - This is a great place to have a weekend get-a-way. But you don't want to go, because I really wanted it to be my best kept secret, but I cannot lie....It is an awesome place!
- Ralph (10/5): Amazing service - Weather was amazing
- Kala (8/5): - My only complaint is that I had drinks on the porch since it was cold enough and someone stole them. I've stayed at the motel so many times and never felt unsafe until then.
- William (10/5): - Love this place ❤️
- Joseph (10/5): - Great food and very quiet.
- Natalie (2/5): - Honestly one of the worst experience. When we arrived at 3:05 PM, there was no one at the front desk to check us in. The man at the front area told us to come back in an hour without much professionalism or acknowledgment of our inconvenience. After a flight and an hour's drive, it was not the warm welcome we expected.
Once we finally got into our room, we realized there was no data, WiFi, or phone service. This left us feeling quite unsafe, as we had no way to contact anyone if needed.
The water in the bathroom came out brown. The shower drain was also clogged, making for an unpleasant showering experience.
The bedding looked old and unwashed, so we had to put shirts over our pillowcases. The coffee pot was filthy, and the walls were so thin that we could hear everything happening in the neighboring rooms.
To top it all off, the same man couldn't be bothered to heat up a pastry for us because he claimed the "kitchen was closed." Literally couldn’t microwave a pastry for guests that are there for 3 days.
In summary, our experience at this hotel left much to be desired, and we wouldn't recommend it to others. If you have to, bring a blanket or a sheet to separate yourself from the bedding, socks or sandals for the floor, expect to sponge bath and not wash your hair if you’re a female, maybe bring walk-in talkies if you have someone with you for communication, and buy cold coffee drinks or be prepared to wait for their kitchen to open at 8am.
- Wayne (6/5): - The property was clean, the pool was relaxing but the service there was poor. When trying to check in at 3 pm there was no one in the office. Then another personal tried to check us in but couldn't. Said the person who could would be there shortly. Finally she showed up. Turns out I she was golfing.
- John (10/5): - The hotel is an older place with not many amenities, it is not a bad thing.
- Richard (10/5): - Staff was very friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Very economical...I highly recommend anyone traveling through looking for inexpensive lodging to stay here. Excellent value!
- Brenda (10/5): - Compact cabin, but well organized with nice bathroom.
- Lona (10/5): - This is an older property but has been well maintained. The main room and bathroom were smaller but the rooms were super clean. The staff was helpful. The restaurant on the property had great food I recommend their hash browns as the were crispy not soggy like I’ve had in other restaurants. If we are spending a night again in the Garden Valley, ID area we will check them first for a reservation.
- richard (10/5): Great place for a stay - Quick and easy check in to a really sweet cabin in the trees. The cabin was spotless and comfortable. We had a nice time meeting the locals in the bar. Everything about our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. We did not get in the pool this visit but we plan to next time.
- Matthew (8/5): - Loved the property and people. Room was small but clean and adequate. Property is so beautiful. We will be back!
- Larry (10/5): - The warm water pool and the tennis and the basketball and the Sunday art fair - all great.
- shane (8/5): - Not big. Not fancy but it did what I needed and more. Pool is a nice touch. WIF or cell service would have been nice but I lived without it
- Henry (8/5): Loved this place! - Room was small but enjoyable, Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Gary (6/5): - clean but very small. Noise from rooms nearby. AC noisy
- Roy (8/5): - Wonderful place, great golf course, pool, ..
- Levis (10/5): - Overall decent place to stay amongst many natural hot springs. Room was small and bathroom had no venting. Pool was very nice.
- Peter (8/5): Very good stay for the price - Good night stay for the price.
- jason (4/5): - Good time of year to visit, being very swcluded and quiet. Lots of wildlife to see. Facilities were lacking upkeep, no emergency contacts, minimal staff help.
- Darren (10/5): - Nice
- Brandi (4/5): - There was no hot water in our room. Our room was not in the lodge. The lodge is not the motel. The motel is a trailer with a cover on it. Very misleading.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Get what ya pay for - Not the best place to stay. Shower wasn’t clean, had hair all over the walls and the water was either boiling hot or freezing cold, no in between. The toilet also had hair all over it. Bed was clean but too soft and springy for me. Walls are also very thin-heard one guy snoring all night and another couples whole conversation.
- Timothy (8/5): - Love this property but this stay was not good.. had average snowfall over the weekend. However no one around to remove snow from motel steps.
- Lance (8/5): - They had the hot water to our room freeze the night before and tried to contact us but we didn't have service. They were very accommodating and even brought in an extra space heater. We had hot water by check out. The service was great!
- April (2/5): - We got stuck in the parking area in front of this motel, thick ruts of mud and snow and we couldn’t even get out of our truck without stepping up to our ankles in mud. The baseboard heat didn’t work properly, we had to keep getting up during the night to either turn it up or down. Never did find hot water to shower. We finally left.
- Gerald (4/5): Disappointing stay - Arrived about 6:00pm to find the office had closed at 5:00pm. Had to check in with worker at restaurant to get key. Cabins are confusingly marked since there are duplicate numbers for the rental "motel" cabins and the what I assume owned cabins. Once we found the correct cabin we were disappointed with small size. Since there were 3 of us and there were only 2 towels in the room we attempted to get another towel but to no avail- the office was closed. We also noticed the rotten egg smell of the water only to find out the next morning (too late to use it) the property has a geo-thermal pool. However, you have to rent a towel for $2.00 to use. Parts of the property are very well kept but others are run down. This was a last minute rental so I chalked this one up to experience- do your homework before booking. The only plus to this stay was the worker at the restaurant who was great and working his rear end off and the food was really good. Would not stay here again.
- Thomas (10/5): - This is a great property to stay at in garden valley, ID. The staff are all very friendly and caring for customer's experience. The food they make and service at the bar are great.
- Justin (10/5): - It’s a back woods type of stay. Worked for a one night. They may have larger rooms that would be a little nicer but it worked for a night.
- Timothy (8/5): - One of my favorite places to stay in Middle Idaho
- Nita (10/5): - The motel rooms are very small, but have stayed there previously and were prepared for that.
- Eli (2/5): - Water smelled of pure sulfur, which is understandable due to being a geothermal source but would’ve loved to have known ahead of time. Only problem is showering left everything smelling awful, and staying there for a wedding was less than ideal due to how it left a lingering smell on everything. No microwave either. Cabin was in poor shape, sofa had a massive cut that had a pillow tactfully placed in front of it, and the bathroom floor was rotting and felt like my foot would go through the floor. You get what you get for the price, just disappointing.
- Carol (8/5): - The room was what we expected after reading other reviews, small but perfect for a one night stay. We were disappointed that they only served a buffet breakfast on Sunday after seeing a full menu in the booklet provided in the room.
- Remy (6/5): - My complaint no WF service and tiny room.
- Kenneth (6/5): - This was a really small hotel room, but the property was OK. Not sure why we had to be there by 4:30, with the threat that we couldn’t check in after that time. The bed was comfortable, but we had no WiFi in the room.
- Cherie (10/5): - The staff and people were very friendly. The resort was fantastic.
- Kayle (10/5): Family Stay - In Crouch for a wedding the resort was beautiful. Room was very clean. Wish we could have used the amenities more they looked wonderful. We did get to eat at the restaurant and it was great! We will be back!
- KAREN (6/5): - The staff was great. The food was good with good prices. The rooms were extraordinarily tiny, but the tiny TV did have Direct TV. We would come back to eat in the restaurant, but we will not stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute little stay - We stayed in one of the cabins and it was the cutest little cabin you ever did see. Bed was comfortable. Coffee options were great and nice to have a fridge in the room. Only thing to know is there is a sulphuric smell from the water but that’s also totally normal for a more remote area so it didn’t bother me. Took my mom some getting used to though. 😂 Restaurant was great too. And convenient.
- Jill (8/5): - This is not a high end resort, but it is very reasonably priced, it is clean, the workers are helpful and friendly. We had a great stay.
- Jason (10/5): - The stay of my wife and I was great all around all around.
- Diane (10/5): - Beautiful resort. We stayed in a cabin, small, but had all we needed for 1 night. Easy drive from the Starlight Outdoor Theater, which is why we’re there. Very well maintained. Sheets were silky and very comfortable but could use new pillows, wish I had brought mine. Overall very pleased with our stay.
- DELMER (8/5): - We liked the affordability, the warm pool, the scenery, the night sky, the omelet, the cozy room, the hot shower and the helpful staff. We would have liked more prominent info about a map of the area above the resort and the "fire exits." I thought a fire exit would take us back to the resort, instead we wandered around the streets for a couple hours until midnight when a young man in a pickup gave us a hint about getting back to the resort. It is something to laugh about now, but then it was scary.
- Dale (4/5): - Missing step to enter property. Broken blinds which expose dressing individuals to outside world. Uncomfortable bed.
Fairly clean.
- alicia (10/5): - I enjoy the fact that guests can swim in the pool for free. I enjoy the grounds and the restaurant and bar area. Great service!
- Jose (8/5): - Staff in restaurant and bar were awesome room was decent for the price only thing that was wrong was we were told pool closed at 10 and they ended up closing at seven other than that great stay
- David (4/5): - Dont be fooled...the picture shown of the motel is the actual lodge, restaurant, lounge, etc. The motel is a small, old building across the street that they dont show. Room was maybe 10 x 12 feet, paper thin walls with luttle to no room to put your suitcases.
