- Sigrid (8/5): Authentische Unterkunft mit Flair oberhalb von Funchal - Sehr schönes authentisches Gebäude in schöner Lage oberhalb der Stadt. Nach Funchal sind es 20 Minuten zu Fuß - zurück eher 30, es geht steil bergauf. Frühstück ist gut. Nicht ganz sauber, in unserem Zimmer lagen Staubflussen.
- Pollypierce (10/5): Modern Comfort Meets Old Fasioned Elegance - We loved everything about Quinta das Malvas. The villa is beautiful as are the terraced gardens & vineyards. There are some amazing exotic specimen plants & an abundance of more familiar plants, many of which we keep indoors. The villa has generouly sized rooms tastefully furnished & with antiques in good condition. In warmer weather it's a joy to sit on the veranda looking out at the city or there are two comfortable sitting rooms for the cooler evenings each with fireplaces, games, a tv & a good selection of books. Breakfast is simple but very nice, with good coffee, a selection of Portuguese cheese & fruits grown on the Quinta, lovely breads, freshly squeezed orange juice & the usual cereals. There's a fridge for guests to use in the dining room, which is a major advantage. Margarida, the house manager is lovely. She'll gladly provide information regarding public transport, directions & recommendations & takes great pleasure in doing so. Google maps took us into Funchal on our first evening there using the most direct route, ie straight down an exceptionally steep road by foot & our return to the property was even worse as the back alleys it took us through were cobbled & difficult to negotiate followed by equally steep steps. There are better, easier alternate routes which we discovered for ourselves plus bolt is quick & cheap!

We appreciate Beatriz help when our plane was cancelled due to the weather late in the evening. Beatriz informed the driver who was going to pick us up at the airport to cancel the pickup. Beatriz also helped us to take the local transport to the city centre. Your professionalism is amazing. Thanks to Margarita for her homemake cake and freshly squeeze orange juice every morning. Margarita also gave us a brief introduction to the property. We enjoyed our stay at Quinta das Malves

- Iuliana (10/5): - The property is close to a bus station where 3 different busses stop and can take you to city center. By foot it is a 20 minute trip downwards. The accommodation is positioned on the hill so you have a stunning view over the city and the sea. The house is beautiful and it feels like a mansion you read about in books. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good and you can always ask the lady who prepares it for refills if something is missing. She is very nice and can tell you a bit about the family who owns the building. The was enough space in the parking spot to park our fiat 500. The parking space could accommodate bigger cars too. We would definitely come back here.

La chambre et la salle de bain offrent un confort appréciable, tout en conservant le charme authentique de la bâtisse. Au petit-déjeuner, la propriétaire prend le temps d’échanger avec chaque hôte et propose de nombreuses idées d’activités. On s’y sent immédiatement bien. Le centre-ville est facilement accessible à pied, mais le retour se fait par une montée assez raide. Heureusement, les bus et taxis desservent très bien l’endroit. Rien.
- Damian (10/5): Quiet uncluttered peace in a garden vineyard - Quinta das Malvas is hard to been on room size, bed comfort, setting and value for money. It is located in a big mansion/villa surrounded by gardens and vineyards sitting above inner Funchal. It is a peaceful quiet location perfectly suited for a relaxing stay. On arrival you walk down a winding driveway with the scent of jasmine and with an array of flowering plants. On the one sunny day we had it has a sunny terrace which was perfect for reading a book after coming back at 4pm - as the birds chirped away. (There is no TV in the rooms but v fast internet if the need arises). With just 6 rooms, it’s small and Magarida (who runs it) understands hospitality. It’s a very unique stay and so nice a difference from regular hotels. Breakfast is simple as you’d expect at this type of establishment: bread to toast, warm croissants, fruit, cheese/meats, yoghurts, tea/coffee. You may have some extra doggie friends that sometimes visit for breakfast from the estate. They are friendly but don’t pester. The room was large, comfortable bed with a beautiful polished floor. It was very clean. Room is heated (we had an unusually cold night at close to 7c during the stay) but it needs the radiator thermostat to be turned on/up to your taste. Also unusual but really nice is that the room had inside shutters so there was genuine blackout if wanted. These are such a nice thing to have. (And also make it feel cosy when there’s a storm outside.) There were a couple of maintenance issues with the room during the stay that were dealt with incredibly speedily. I’ve stayed in Park Hyatts and Mandarin Oriental hotels that were not as fast to respond. Overall, this was a simple but unique and characterful relaxed stay. Clearly if you want ‘food theatre’, on site ‘spa’ experiencesand 247 concierge with bling this isn’t it. Hooray for that. Malvas is comfortable quiet clean and good value and hosted by someone who really cares. Out of hours self check in was very clearly... Nothing major but a few small tweaks: (1) I love very hot showers after a day’s walking- especially if it’s been wet and cold - so having really hot water would have lifted the experience (it was hot, just not mega hot). (2) instructions in the room for controlling the heating radiator thermostat would be useful (it took a while to figure it out but we did have unusually cold weather). (3) This is (for good reason) a popular choice - finding availability can be hard!

- Jennie (10/5): - Gorgeous guesthouse. The views of Funchal from the property are stunning. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was good. There's a really nice outdoor area with lots of seating if you want to spend time relaxing there. It is so pleasant and fragrant with all the flowers growing. If you have a rental car, be careful entering & exiting the property, as you have to go through a narrow gate and down a winding driveway to park near the house. The owner, Margarida was kind and easy to talk to. For the stunning property and included breakfast, I found this guesthouse to be a great value. N/A

Das Zimmer war gemütlich mit einem wunderbaren Bett. Der "Badesalon" war klasse, da war auch die kleine Dusche völlig ausreichend. Da gibt es nichts zu sagen. Wir sind rundum zufrieden.

Très jolie jardin fleuri jouxtant un vignoble en restanques appartenant à la famille Blandy's. Savoureux petit déjeuner préparé avec soin à base de produits frais par Margarida. L'accès en voiture pour stationner dans la propriété peut être difficile selon la taille du véhicule. Mais on peut facilement stationner dans les rues voisines . Nous avons rencontré un souci d'eau chaude lié à des travaux mais vite résolu.

- Anne (9/5): Urlaub auf dem Landsitz - Sehr schönes Ambiente in einer ehemaligen Quinta, geschmackvoll eingerichtet, sehr große Zimmer und große Schränke, sehr bequeme Betten. Die große Küche und alle Wohnzimmer sind zur allgemeinen Nutzung freigegeben. Die Wohnzimmer sind sehr schön möbliert und laden zum Lesen auf dem gemütlichen Sofa ein. Der Garten ist weitläufig, man kann zwischen Weinreben und sehr gepflegten Parkanlagen mit Blick auf Funchal herumspazieren. Trotz der Nähe zur Auffahrt zur Schnellstraße war es abends ruhig. Rührei zum Frühstück wäre toll gewesen

La patronne du lieu, que je n'ai jamais vue, a demandé une somme exorbitante pour un bouquet déposé dans la chambre, qu'elle a demandé à ma femme de payer le dernier jour. Comble de la goujaterie.

- Benjamin (8/5): Schönes Anwesen - Sehr schönes B&B mit schönem Ambiente und grandiosem Ausblick. Das Haus hat eine gute Lage und lebt auch ein bißchen von seinem Antlitz. Im alten Stil renoviert, sehr schön! Dennoch etwas in "die Jahre gekommen". Frühstück war gut, nicht so üppig, muss aber auch nicht. Es könnte überall etwas sauberer sein, hatte zudem Ameisen im Zimmer.

- Sandrine (7/5): Quinta familiale, au calme dans les hauteurs de Funchal - Jolie vue depuis le jardin en hauteur. Accueil sympathique et familial. L'endroit est calme. Peu accessible en transport en commun après 19h45. Chambre et salle de bain grande mais vieillotte, propreté qui peut être améliorée.

- Bernd (8/5): - Schöne ruhige Lage in Funchal, sehr günstiger Übernachtungspreis Frühstück dürftig, am Sonntagmorgen gab es kein Brot/Brötchen nur Croissants. Nach Angaben des Besitzers darf man als Gast der Quinta das Malvas das Gelände der Quinta Santa Luzia nicht betreten, obwohl beide Gebäude auf einem gemeinsamen Grundstück stehen
- Daiiii (10/5): Beautiful gardens with view, so welcoming staff and warm atmosphere - very welcoming, warm and cozy stay, super comfortable beds, beautiful garden area with nice view, delicious breakfast, super friendly staff. Great that we had the option to use a fridge and kitchen. Location is also great, close to the city. Free parking available. I can definitely recommend it.

- Catalin_Redu (10/5): - Beautiful and quiet location. Mrs. Magarida was very attentive throughout our stay, she also gave us tips for walks with superb views. The floors were wooden, so they creaked a bit, and if you wanted to leave early in the morning you had to be careful how you walked so as not to make noise, but it's nothing to worry about.
- Ismael Liñares (8/5): Sitio tranquilo en una ciudad caótica - Es una quinta muy bonita ubicada en Funchal. Cuenta con un jardín precioso donde se realiza el desayuno diariamente atendido por Margarida, una persona encantadora y que se preocupa por hacer que tu estancia sea lo mejor posible. A pesar de que es una casa antigua, la limpieza en los pequeños detalles podria mejorarse un poco ya que en las lamparas había unas pequeñas telas de araña o la cal en la alcachofa de la ducha. Además en la habitación falta un ventilador o aire acondicionado, ya que en días de calor se hace un poco sofocante.
- MajaB (9/5): - Klimatyczne miejsce, łatwe zameldowanie, parking na posesji. Bajeczne widoki. Śniadania w cenie. Łóżko wygodne, w łazience i wanna jak i prysznic za co duży plus. Akustyka trochę słaba ale wiadomo, że to nie najnowszy budynek i jest to zrozumiałe. Drzwi w łazience skrzypiały przy otwieraniu i zamykaniu więc przy nocnej wedrowce do łazienki trochę to przeszkadzało. Dość sporo mini mrówek w posiadłości.

- pascale (10/5): Très très belle expérience - Le cadre : jardin très beau, maison typique et décoration stylée, le confort de la chambre avec un lit 180 et une grande salle de bain. Le petit déjeuner super et varié et la gentillesse de l’hôte. Enfin le calme en dépit de la proximité de la ville (20 minutes à pied en descente et retour en bus 26) Rien tout était super
- Zoltán (10/5): - Nagyon jó helyen lévő,gyönyörű quinta.A szobánk a konyha fölött volt,minden reggel a frissen sülő croissan illatára ébredtem.A reggeli nagyjából mindig ugyanaz volt,de a házi készítésű chia puding,a friss gyümölcsök és a házi sütemények miatt nem zavart,sőt!A személyzet nagyon kedves és segítőkész. Az ágy mellett nincs konnektor.
