• Ulrich (10/5): - Ein ganz außergewöhnlicher, großartiger Ort innerhalb des Festungsbereichs auf dem Burgberg. Einzigartiges Panorama. Gemütliches kleines Zimmer ganz oben, mit viel Holz aber modernem Bad. Mehrere Terrassen mit einem fantastischen, meilenweiten Rundblick über das Alentejo. Das mittelalterliche Haus ist liebevoll renoviert und hat eine warme, einladende Atmosphäre. Es gibt mehrere Aufenthaltsräume mit Zugang zu Getränken, so dass jede/r den Ort findet, wo man sich am wohlsten fühlt. Die Gastgeber Vicki und Mitch sind sehr freundlich, mit familiärem Umgang, aber ohne sich aufzudrängen. Mitch kocht abends, von einem kleinen, aber Abwechslung bietenden Menü. Sehr schmackhaft! Ich habe mich wunderbar betreut und sehr willkommen gefühlt. Absolute Empfehlung! Alles war perfekt! Für die außergewöhnliche Lage oben auf dem Berg sollte man aber besser mit dem Auto unterwegs sein. Zu Fuß ist es ein ordentlicher Anstieg (für den die Gastgeber einen aber auch unten abholen würden).

• Laura (10/5): My stay could not have been more perfect. Évoramonte is a very special place . - I loved it from the first minute I drove up and saw Vicki’s smiling face waving to me . The properties setting is unmatched . I was the only one for the two nights and was upgraded to the most spectacular room. I literally cried when I walked in. Vicki and Mitch made my stay perfect. I was sad to go. It’s set inside of Castle walls on the top of a high hill. You drive through the castle arch to enter . SPECTACULAR in every way ❤️ That I couldn’t extend my stay because they were booked the day I left .

Os hosts acolhem-nos logo com um abraço e um sorriso, preparam o pequeno almoço de manhã com produtos regionais e saudáveis e dedicam um pouco do curto tempo que dispõem a conversar connosco. A vista é maravilhosa, os quartos são ainda melhores do que as fotografias. Localização muito privilegiada no Alentejo, perfeita para um central hub para visitar outras cidades como Évora, Montemor, Monsaraz, Vila Viçosa, Estremoz, Mora. A simpatia dos donos do alojamento é verdadeiramente incrível, com várias sugestões de programas à volta do alojamento para tornar a experiência verdadeiramente inesquecível. A regressar brevemente certamente. De não ter marcado mais dias.

The hosts were wonderful, breakfast was excellent, and the terrace with its incredible view made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommended.

• Jenn_DK (10/5): The Place with the most amazing view - This place is a gem in the middle of Alentejo. Placed on a hill top, next to a castle. With an amazing view all over Alentejo. Wow. It was so nice and peaceful and the view was to die for. Vicky and Mitch were such wonderful hosts, and we really felt welcome from the moment we arrived. They are so easy going, kind and helpful, and it was so wonderful to spend a few days with them here at their home. I would recommend this place to everybody that wants to visit Alentejo. Nothing.

These accommodations sit high on a hill right next to a castle… and the view is spectacular! Mitch and Vicki were such wonderful hosts. They meet our every need. The included breakfasts were delicious… fresh squeezed juice, variety of coffees, cooked to order eggs and omelets plus a variety of of cheeses, meats, breads and more. What can’t be described in words was the most magnificent, never-ending views that go on forever! As visitors, we were very well taken care of, given great advice on what to experience in the area and would most certainly love to go back!

Ample grounds included a rooftop veranda, a breakfast patio, and additional quiet spaces under flowering pergolas. Breakfast was prepared to order and plentiful in both variety and quality. Vicky even made me a decaf coffee with soy milk! Dinner was welcome after a long day of sight-seeing, accompanied by hand-picked local red wine. Our hosts provided many suggestions for sights to see as well as dining locales. We loved the nearby tile museum! We wished we would have allowed another day to tour a local winery and marble quarry.

• Rebecca (10/5): - The Place at Evoramonte is now my new favorite place to stay. The property is gorgeous! The rooms are so comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. The views from the room, terraces, and patio are absolutely breathtaking. Vicki and Mitch were the nicest hosts, from the moment we arrived to the time we had to head home. We were greeted as we drove up, Mitch brought up our luggage and Vicki showed us around our room, the various seating areas throughout the house, the patio, and the cafe. We had breakfast there both mornings that we were there and dinner one night. The food was delicious and I was so surprised to learn that they had gluten-free bread since I have an allergy, this was so unexpected, but SO APPRECIATED! If you have any food allergies, be sure to let them know when you make your reservation (just to be sure that they know ahead of time). If you're planning a trip to Evora or that area, stay in Evoramonte and avoid all the crowds.

• Don (10/5): Warm & inviting - Vicki & Mitch go out of their way to make you feel at home. We arrived in temps of high 30s and Vicki pounced onto our suitcases and lugged them up into our room with seemly no effort. Shes a real little energiser. The room was cozy, bed was comfortable and view stunning from our terrace. The breakfast was the standout, the music nice, the chat fun, and the food fulling and fresh. Mitch makes amazing omelette's. You have to try the burger with his special Sth African sauce. They are great guides for pointing you in the right direction for things to see & do.

• Caryn (10/5): Wonderful place! - Vicki and Mitch are amazing hosts! So friendly and helpful, they gave wonderful recommendations for things to do and see as well as places to eat. They will also cook you dinner if you want to stay in for the night. (Mitch does a great job with both breakfast and dinner!) The hotel itself is adorable and I loved being enclosed inside the castle walls and right next to the castle, a very unique experience. Our room was quite large with an amazing view, be sure to get a room with a balcony if you can but don’t worry if you can’t, there is also a roof top terrace for everyone to enjoy! There is so much to experience in this area, I would definitely come back here again and stay longer!

• Reviews (10/5): evoramonte is a stunning place and the place at evoramonte is best accomodation in the region - location, unique,simply stunning 180 degree views in an authentic medieval hill top fortification/village, the castle is 2 steps outside your private entry if you stay in the room 4 with free standing bath tub, enormous bathroom area/ separate shower all done in marble with massive marble basin area . air con / mini kitchen with microwave/kettle/coffee plunger and huge fridge , plenty of hot water/very comfortable with outside terrace seating and blankets for extra comfort. mitch and vicki are the best hosts ever, after a weeks stay we felt like friends , a beautiful breakfast was prepared each morning for us - amazing . staying at the place at evoramonte is your best choice in the region to explore, elvas, estremoz, monsaraz, marvao, castelo de vide, etc. each morning the views change from mist/fog to glorious crystal clear mountians in the distance, you can visit the castle/ craft shops and walk on castle walls. nothing

• Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hospitality in a quaint, charming location. Staying with Vicki and Mitch was like staying with family. The location is so peaceful and serves as a great base for exploring the Alentejo region. Vicki had incredibly helpful itinerary recommendations both before and during our trip. Mitch is a fantastic cook. We stayed in for dinner one night and had the duck and the pizza. Both were incredible. If you like duck definitely give it a try. I can’t recommend this place enough. It looks remote but it’s really well situated for exploring the area and doing day trips (however once you’re there you might not want to leave because the view is so nice 🙂). Estremoz is really close if you want to venture in to town for dinner and the little cafe at the bottom of the hill was a fun place to grab a drink.

They give you a list of restaurants in the area, but we ate dinner there both nights and were not dissapointed. Best hamburger I have ever had and you have to try the brownie. And a beautiful wine selection. The views from their large terrace were outstanding. Their place was set inside the outer walls of a castle that was well worth seeing. You need a car or taxi to get around, but there is so much to do in the surrounding towns that are very close by. We highly recommend staying here.

• Margaret (8/5): - Gorgeous view!!!! Very warm and friendly hosts! Would recommend this for anyone wanting to enjoy the area! Very unique accommodations, though a bit small. The only slight disappointment was the balcony was not accessible directly from our room and was shared with another guest. When we booked through Expedia it seems this was not made clear. We give an absolute 5 star rating to the wonderful hosts!!!
• Lisa (10/5): - We stayed at the Place at Evoramonte in mid October and it was a gem to say the least! The hosts Vicki and Mitch are top notch and are so warm and welcoming. The location at the top of mountain beside a castle, in a historic village surrounded by medieval walls with stunning views and in prime distance from many attractions and just can't be beat! We loved our stay here and would love to come back again! We had a large veranda with our suite and had pre dinner drinks overlooking the valley and watched the sun go down and even managed to catch a griffin vulture soaring over the valley. Dinner from the restaurant did not disappoint and we even had our own private dinner on the patio. Breakfast was classic european style and very good. Really can't say enough good things about this place and really hope to make it back there!

• BECCA (10/5): - Vicki and Mitch were fantastic hosts going way out of the way to assist us in visiting a local beekeeper in the area, providing advice on what to see and do and assisting in findind a restuarant for the evening that their's was closed. You could not ask for a more beautiful location and besides the quiet area with a 180 degree plus view, the sunsets were fabulous. Most comfortable beds we experienced. Would definately stay again and have already recommended them to friends.

• Ashley Dee (10/5): Spectacular - A MUST! - The Place at Evoramonte was incredible. Vicky the owner was so helpful, she really went above and beyond. The hotel room was very clean and excellently blended modern touches with historic features. The view from the roof terrace was breathtaking. While we were only there for one night, Vicky has drawn up a detailed map of everything there is to do in the surrounding area and we can't wait to come back and stay for much longer in the future!

The location beside the Fort was magical. It is one of the nicest views that we have ever experienced from a hotel or B & B in our travels. Later at night, the rooftop terrace is a perfect location for star gazing. We loved it. We also had dinner two nights at The Place (enjoying the view, of course). The food was great and the proprietors are super friendly and helpful.
