Guest Reviews
- Samuel (10/5): - Very basic room, but sparkling clean, and the staff could not possibly have been more helpful and accommodating. A/C, refrigerator, and WiFi all worked great. Complimentary luggage storage was really good for us, since we could leave our luggage there when we had a gap between check out time and our ferry to San Pedro. I was hesitant about booking something south of the river, but my elderly mother and I felt completely safe walking around the immediate area. The balconies with river views were also a great place to sit, sip coffee, and watch boats go by. This place has no frills, but is a very safe and comfortable place to spend a night at an extremely reasonable price.
- Shannon (10/5): - Lovely hotel very close to the water taxi and within the area for tours to pick you up at the hotel. The staff is extremely nice and hospitable and the room was clean with shower amenities and a solid ac unit. There are two patios to sit on that overlook the river and there is coffee in the lobby in the morning. There are plenty of places to eat right near the hotel as well as a small grocery store across the street for water, etc…. I am a solo woman traveler and I felt very safe in this area and at the hotel. Great affordable option in Belize City, I highly recommend:)
- Nicholas (10/5): For the serious traveler - The Belcove Hotel provides convenient access to the central part of Belize City. It is an excellent hotel, with all that is truly needed for comfort and with efficient and friendly staff and good security. Be aware that It is not a luxury hotel, with a lot of superfluous amenities. It is a hotel for the traveler with a serious purpose: to interact with a local office or entity and to get to know a country and culture. The location is superb for a true understanding Belize.
- R (8/5): - Easy check-in and out. Friendly staff. Great location, convenient to stores and restaurants. Safe and clean. Wifi and AC worked well.
- Kirk (8/5): - Compared to other properties in Belize city, it was reasonably priced, clean, with fully functioning air conditioner. What more can you ask for?
- Jane (4/5): - For the price you get what you pay for, but it was very noisy and you can hear everything through your door. There was just a sheet on the bed so if you get too cold maybe bring some extra clothes. There was no hot water in the shower and toilet see was falling off and when you sat your knees almost touched the wall. Overall super small room with minimal good amenities.
- Jessica (10/5): - We went as a group of 3 girls. The hotel was comfortable and the balcony provided a beautiful view. Free wifi and toiletries for use. The area felt safe and everything to see (muesuem, cathedral, water taxi, restaurants) were all within a good walking distance. Locals were friendly and open to chat. We saw food vendors by the bridge in the evening, but didn't stay out too late to see more.
The staff are v friendly and helpful. They called a taxi for us when we returned from the islands which is much appreciated🙏
Thank you for a comfortable stay, Belcove staff!
- Barbara (10/5): - .
- John (6/5): - Central location
- Stasys (6/5): - It was a one night stop over and room was okay.
- Evgenii (10/5): - Cheapest hotel in the area.
- Kristen (8/5): - The hotel was nice and very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The shower only had cold water- but not so cold to be torturous. The location was right in the middle of the city with many narrow one way-streets, and cars and people everywhere. We found it challenging and stressful to get there. We were lucky to have a parking spot right in front, but there is not an abundance of parking in the daytime if you have a rental car.
- John (8/5): - Central location...Friendly people...
- Katherine (10/5): - Pleasant helpful staff. Nice sitting area over looking the lagoon.
- Pamela (6/5): - The staff was very accommodating.
- Narilee (10/5): - Q
- Kimberly (10/5): - Love the convenience of downtown Belize city and The tourist village things were really convenient love the fact I could buy beer at the front desk!
- Narilee (10/5): - Convenience, very clean and friendly staff.
- Sanford (8/5): - Great option for a night or two. A clean, pleasant hotel with a great balcony to watch the boats go by. My credit card was not processing and I really appreciated how accommodating the manager was.
- Tinisha (8/5): - Front desk was extremely helpful. Housekeeping was great. Just wish there were a microwave in the room!
- Tracey (6/5): - The property was as advertised. Belize City is not much of an attraction though I wouldn’t bother staying over if I go to Belize again.
- Tinisha (8/5): - My bed was a bit noisy is my only complaint
- Autumn (6/5): No A/C and bugs in room and bathroom - The staff are super nice and friendly. Upon arrival I noticed there was no a/c. My room was hot even with a fan on it. I saw a bug crawling across my pillow. And the sheets had some stains on them. Then I saw several bugs in the bathroom. I killed the bugs in the bathroom but there were more bugs every time I used it. There was several ants up and down the bedroom wall. Staff are nice but I recommend staying elsewhere
- Lisa (8/5): Nice little hotel. - We only stayed 1 night before flying back to the US. The girl at the desk was super friendly and helpful! Room was simple and clean, good for 1 night.
- Jeremy & Nicole (8/5): - It’s a clean place to sleep convenient to the ferry. The staff was very nice. Rooms are small but the priced accordingly.
- Nica (6/5): - Rooms are very small. Like a box. Our room had the smallest tiniest bugs crawling on the fridge and in the bathroom on the floor. You really have to have good eyes to see them. Sink water pressure was very low .Stayed there for one night because it's conveniently located close to the airport. The room wasn't dirty. I just didn't like the bugs. Has AC and a TV with good channel options .No cover only a sheet for the bed.
- Dean (6/5): A room to sleep before plane departure - We stayed there so we were closer to the airport the next morning. It served that purpose only. Not an area you’d want to hang out, but for the price it was just a place to sleep. The room smelled like moth balls- I’m not sure if smell was cleaning agents or actual moth balls. The staff was nice. The room was clean. Cute balcony over looking river. Good food right around the corner was convenient. We felt comfortable walking a block.
- Susan (10/5): - The hotel staff were all so friendly and very helpful with all our questions, car rental problems, where to go eat, etc
- George (8/5): - Conveniently located close to water taxi, and tourist areas. Nice view from the deck and balcony of the river.
- Christopher (10/5): - The staff is extremely kind and answered all my questions. The walk to the ferry terminal was less than 10 minutes. If you are going to an island this is a perfect place to stay.
- melissa (10/5): Great Belize Hotel - Staff was so nice. Anything i needed, they were there to assist. Room and bathroom was very clean and quiet. Located next to several restaurants and close to the water taxi. Belize express had better departure times but sprinter is suppose to be faster. I would definitely stay here again. The rates are extremely affordable. Bring a blow dryer if you need one.
- Tim (6/5): - most convenient location to Sprinter ferry if you need a over night stay.
- Kelly (6/5): looking for a cheap place without frills? - This place was just a quick stay. We arrived into Belize at 6pm and had a water taxi ticket for 8 am so we just needed somewhere to lay our heads. This met all our needs but it is not luxurious and simply just basic. It was fairly clean and the shower was surprisingly good. The staff was nice. The walls are thin and the beds stiff. However the a/c did its job. It was also about a 7 minute walk to the water taxi and had one restaurant about 2 minutes away (walking) which met our needs.
If you are looking for a cheap place without frills this isn’t a bad option
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not what we expected - The photos were fairly misleading and dated. Not in a great part of town either. We walked to a restaurant and the owner saw us walking back later and offered to give us a ride saying we shouldn’t be out on that side of the bridge at night. The place is very run down and the bed sagged. There were super bright lights right outside the window. It did have ac, was clean enough for what it was, and is right next to the Caribbean Sprinter. You get what you pay for as it is cheap, but we wouldn’t book again.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - It was in a good location for our forward journey. The staff were very kind and friendly. going beyond to help us in an emergency.
- Kenneth (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at Belcove hotel. Friendly staff. Property is in walking distance to water taxi and shops. I was also able to walk daily to the gym, Burnbox. Hotel had a balcony along the river which was very peacfeul.
- Sarah (10/5): - Staff was friendly and very helpful, will call taxi for you. Beautiful view over the river
- joseph (8/5): - Just a one night stay before the airport. Staff were very friendly and hotel was very clean and comfortable.
- Hadar (6/5): Ok for one night - Nothing beautiful about this place but is it near the ferry and affordable. Stayed for one night and took the ferry the next day.
- techia (10/5): - Great place to stay in the city. Safe quiet clean close to water taxi and shopping
- Renise (8/5): Convenient - Great stay. Room was very clean and the staff very helpful.
- Pierre (6/5): Basic River view - Central location with a common balcony river view.
Helpful reception and zealous maintenance.
Small room and smaller single shared bathroom.
- Glenn (10/5): - Very easy check in, staff very friendly! Rooms are basic but very clean, with good A/C
- Kojo (8/5): Great stay for the price! - The Belcove was a cozy hotel with a great view of the river from the shared balcony. Check in was very easy and quick. There are no amenities like a lobby or office type lounge, but the wifi was strong in my room. Place was quite at night, but during the day there was some construction going on that made it hard to take a mid day nap.
The location is great. Just a short walk over the bridge and you are at the water taxi terminal, and if you head the opposite direction you are close to local stores. Not really the best stores for souvenirs, but if you want to shop where the locals shop you are in the right spot. There was a sim card store about a 5 minute walk, and plenty of street food options around at a very affordable price. The neighborhood can be a little unsettling at night, but had great food carts about a 100 yards away. For the price I would definitely recommend staying there. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. Very open to answering questions and helping with directions.
- Eric W (10/5): - Great value and location!
- techia (8/5): - Well it appears many tourists go to Golden bay hotel ..why?? It's WAY more expensive and further from the water taxi. This little gem is right by the swing bridge and $50 US a night, AC, TV, fridge, comfy beds. Very nice staff. Also half a block from both a touristy bar/restaurant and a lively local bar, both on the water. Apart from walking less than 200 meters from the main st which could look dodgy but is NOT it's a GREAT place to stay. Quiet also. Can also leave your luggage and return for it. I highly recommend it, have stayed twice and this is now my go to hotel in the city for life. Economical, safe, clean, and clear to the water taxis. Golden bay is further away. Oh and the sell beer and water there, and communal coffee.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Belcove Hotel - The Belcove Hotel did the job, simple room and close to the Bus Terminal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Two stays at the Belcove. - The Belcove Hotel was cute. It's beginning to show its age, but then again so is Belize City as a whole. The rooms were clean and satisfactory.
- Justin (6/5): - For what this place is, it's fine for a night. I had to stay in Belize City because I arrived late so all the water taxis were done. Very basic accommodation in a rough area at night. It's walking distance to the water taxi terminal so that's a huge plus.
- John (10/5): - Nice staff
- Todd (10/5): - Perfect transition hotel from late flight arrival to an early next day island water taxi to the islands, only a block from the swing bridge and taxi ferry…bit of a seedy neighborhood at night but I liked it
- Shannon (10/5): - Helpful staff! Would stay again. Great price and convenient location.
- Daviyion (8/5): - The place was very conveniently located in the city center near a grocery store, which was nice for getting some basics. There was also a really good little food convenience eatery around the corner from the hotel as well.
The space inside was a little warm for where but the room itself was fine and despite the shower having a bit of hard water residue on it, everything in the space was clean. Definitely not the Hilton or even Holiday Inn, but if you're just needing a night or two to sleep in Belize City to catch the water taxi or perhaps an excursion it'll do if you wanna save some money.
I also enjoyed the outdoor sitting space where you could look over the river
- Julio (10/5): - Quite
- John (10/5): - No difference to the rest of Belize City. Hotel is authentic and lovely. Staff excellent
- Cynthia (10/5): - Staff is wonderful 🤗
- Joe (10/5): - Quiet place. Security at night if needed. Relaxing chill spot out the back over looking the river
- Jardin (10/5): Clean, walkable, safe - This was exactly what I needed. The hotel was a 6 min walk to the water taxi, clean, the AC worked well, the shower got hot (not always the case in Belize.)
Also the towels were way nicer than I expected, which isn't a need but a very nice addition. I felt very safe with the entry doors locked and security on duty all night. Don't be fooled by the exterior, this was the perfect place to rest on my way to the next adventure.
There were even some food trucks at the corner for a late snack
- Shahid (6/5): - The hotels or may be called a hostel is located on an old building rooms are small, no air-conditioning in the room, very hot temperature in room can't stay in day time because hotel provide only a pedestal fan no fridge in the room as well, shared wash rooms are tiny, and not properly cleaned.
It's a below average accomodation would not recommend because it's over priced.
- David (10/5): - My stay was comfortable!
- Monty (8/5): BELIZE BELCOVE HOTEL 2024 - Friendly accommodating staff. Everything is kept clean. The balcony area is nice. Even though the Belcove is located right in the action its Relatively quiet. The location is convenient and very walkable. The building and furnishings are old. Some upgrades are in order however at that price point compared to other competitors its still a resonable value proposition.
- Narilee (10/5): - Excellent service
- Andrea (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic stay! Best priced hotel in Belize City and great location! Check in woman was super friendly and made me feel welcomed. I enjoyed the room and the bed was comfy. Plus, there was a minifridge available!
- Ezekiel (10/5): - I had a great stay at Belcove hotel. As a low budget option, my room was exactly as I expected. Some facilities may need an upgrade, but otherwise, all were functioning. Staff were very helpful and assisted me with tours and general directions in the area. Location is very convenient to the ferries, as well as a few food options.
- Zhanna (6/5): Double your budget - Ot has its charms. It is a convenient location easy get in and out - can be OK if you lower the expectations on what you get to what you pay for. The rooms, bedding and amenities are at bare minimum. Belize is unexpectedly more expensive than what you’d think compared to others. As a foreigner you are most certainly expected to pay more.
- Rajeeva (2/5): Poor Poor Poor - Very dingy room the pictures on the website of hotels.con are deceiving the room is barely 10x10 with no sink in the bathroom but in the room out side the bathroom, the flush was not working no hot water this room should not be more than $20 instead of $ 57 which I paid
- Paul (6/5): - A bit run down but everything works. The area is a bit sketchy but close to the water taxi.
- Shawn (4/5): - Overwhelming stinky bathroom deodorizer. Lousy beds & pillows. Ice sheets and staff.
- Vanessa (10/5): - The Belcove is awesome! It's walking distance to both ferry terminals and the owner is great. The neighborhood is a little spicy at night, but there are good restaurants around the corner and the back deck is perfect for relaxing with an ice cold beer (which you can purchase in the lobby). We loved The Belcove and we will definitely be back.
- BRENDA (8/5): - Good safe area
- Joanne (6/5): - Meeting the people was the best thing could happen to me
- Wendy (8/5): - The front desk staff was beyond amazing ! Ordered us Chinese takeout and hand delivered it up to our room
- Colette (8/5): - Very friendly staff
- Stephen (8/5): - Staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and all amenities worked.
Downside is the location. Don't go out after dark.
Overall 4/5.
- Sandra (6/5): - The hotel is decent, but old and has seen better days. Shower varied between barely warm water to one night with decent hot water, but it ended quickly. Staff are very friendly, but didn't get back to me on a request for private transport despite asking repeatedly. There isn't much to see in the area, though it's a good spot to see some of the nearby ruins and go to Caye Caulker for the day. I didn't feel unsafe, even at night, though I was back to the hotel before 9pm every night.
- Rick (2/5): - Seems legit, room on the water, but loud boats and church bells every morning 06:00.
- MARCIA (8/5): - Basic hotel in great location close to water taxi. Friendly staff. However walls are thin- bring earplugs.
- uwe (8/5): - Nice and clean, close to all the amenities and transport. Friendly and helpful staff. No complaint!!! Will recommend.
- Paul (10/5): Great little spot! - I fully enjoyed every day staying at this place. The room was quaint and all I needed. The staff was amazingly helpful and nice. I very much enjoyed the patios I could sit out and sip coffee in the morning and a cold beer at night. I will definitely stay here again when I make it back to Belize.
- Fiona (8/5): not for smell sensitive people. - hotel was fine. clean. wifi worked. the only problem was the smell of the air freshener from the bathroom. it was so strong even with the bathroom door closed the smell was so strong I could taste it. I had to open a window which helped a little bit
- Yiyang (10/5): - Good Cost-effectiveness
- Karolina (10/5): - Simple hotel with very nice and helpful staff. Everything was clean, including the common bathroom. The view to the river is nice. There is a supermarket and a couple of local restaurants in the area. More international food and tourist facilities are a walking distance away, on the other side of the river.
- Qaiser (4/5): Dated but kept clean - Back-breaker bedding may have been premium when purchased. Needs new mattresses. Surrounding is not ideal but location is close to ferry terminal. Mini-fridge in room but no microwave. Friendly and helpful staff.
- yuko (10/5): Good service - They are so nice and felt safe
- Benjamin (6/5): - Room was quite small. It lacked things like a luggage stand, shelves or towel hooks. Linens were crisp but worn. Towels were wonderful. Staff were friendly. Not much to do or see nearby. Restaurant selection was quite poor.
- Christian (2/5): - Staff is nice and helpful and I guess the price is fair compared to other places in Belize city. However it feels very expensive for very basic the hotel is. Also the neighborhood feels very dangerous at night. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here if you can avoid it.
- Natesha (10/5): - This was my fourth stay and I loved it as always. I would recommend staying here to anyone. It’s a great bang for your buck. The only thing was my air conditioner wasn’t working all the way. It kept the room cool for when you walked in but after you were there for a while the room just felt okay.
- Gerard (4/5): - Poor water flow in the shower.
Shower was dirty.
Room was very stuffy.
Towels were almost worn out.
Staff were very helpful
- Maximilian (10/5): - Clearly the staff take great pride in their work, and they will do everything possible to make one's stay more comfortable, as they did with us. It's an old-fashioned hotel, decent, clean, and has a really lovely balcony/terrace overlooking the Belize River, decked with all sorts of beautiful plants. The location of the hotel is also perfect: mere metres away from the ferry terminal, and around the corner from the downtown core.
- marianne (4/5): - Great: Friendly staff, free coffee in the morning 7-11 am, amazing terrace overlooking the river in the back with chairs to chill, great location, however not safe to walk after 9pm, use taxi.
Bad: My room was on the ground floor, near the hotel entrance, very noisy. Only one electrical socket in the room and one of the 2 slot is taken by the fridge. Only one sheet on the bed and AC is blowing directly over the bed. No mirror in the bathroom. Walls are lacking insulation; I could hear next door cell phone’s notification and tv, and doors slamming.
- Katy (6/5): - The beds are uncomfortable
- Sandra (10/5): - Everything worked - the toilet, good shower, clean room, clean towels. Sheets were washed, but had a couple of stains.
Waterfront terrace where you can relax in all safety.
Central location.
Very good value for money.
- Alison (6/5): - Very basic, extremely hard beds with a thin sheet, staff were friendly and the little back patio was nice. But rooms are very outdated and showers have no pressure. Although close to down town your going to experience a bit more of the locals and street food.
- Rosaida (10/5): - The view of the river
- Kristen (8/5): - It’s a fantasy location for easy access to the water taxis. There are nice views in docks where you can watch the river life while sitting in deck chairs. The rooms were small, but everything worked well. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
- Carolyn (6/5): - Room was decent, internet cut in and out, the walls were paper thin and we could hear everything that was going on in the next rooms and outside.
- Jacinthe (6/5): - Good place. Just the bed was not confortable like broke!
- Melissa (4/5): Meh - The people working there were very friendly, and it was reasonably clean; however, the bed was hard as a rock and you could hear EVERYTHING in the place and outside! None of us slept much.
- Cynthia (4/5): - Front desk staff were very friendly. The bed was awful—felt like sleeping right on metal springs. Noise! A few examples: dog squeaky toy, a knock on a door in the corridor with an announced “We’re coming in,” an alarm at 6 am for about 2 minutes, a tolling bell at 6:30. All of these clearly audible. No sound proofing whatsoever.
