Guest Reviews
- Kruusi (9/5): Excellent comfortable safe and clean. -
- Jane (10/5): -
- Di-Anne (7/5): It was good - It was a nice space
Cute store Uncomfortable bed and pillows
- Natalya (10/5): -
- hoefs (10/5): - Spacious, comfortable suite I would prefer a toaster oven to a microwave and a tea kettle to a coffee maker, but that's just me.
- Natalya (10/5): -
- Guest (8/5): - Everything was great, the only point to improve I would suggest is the drain in the shower is slow draining.
- Jane (10/5): A Beautiful Oasis - We loved our spacious and well decorated room. The location was fabulous and local attractions were easy to get to. We loved having the beautiful lawn and river to relax after a day of exploring. The back patio was wonderful for enjoying the homemade and very tasty meals we purchase at the attached store. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Lynda (9/5): -
- Bown (9/5): Easy booking, easy entry into the room, large space and a great price. Would recommend if you need accommodation in the - The property had a very rustic, antique feel. It was very quaint and cosy yet spacious. There is nothing that I didn’t like about the property. I like the old school, rustic vibe that I could see some people wanting more modern perhaps.
- EW (7/5): A nice country experience. - Good bed, Bathroom and TV. Old windows, noisy from traffic and other suites.
- Kathryn (10/5): Very comfortable room. Everything we needed. - Easy checkin. Nice location. Nothing
- Margaret (9/5): Great accommodation in the country but close to the airport. - We wanted a room for one night close to the airport. The suite consisted of a large bedroom with a king bed, and a smaller side room. There was a microwave and small fridge which was a nice surprise as we hadn't seen it in the listing. There is a space to sit outside by the river and overall great value. Nothing to complain about at all!
- Darlene (9/5): We enjoyed the comfortable bed, vintage decor and amenities during our breif overnight stay. - The historic building was very well preserved during restoration.
Booking and accessing the property was smooth and straightforward.
We appreciated the quaint, well maintained village and rural setting for its quiet nature and low traffic volume.
We were impressed by the well marked 4 way stops at rural intersections in your municipality, leading to increased safety for travellers.
We were hiking the Toronto section Bruce Trail and your location was ideal. ( North end of section).
We enjoyed browsing through your general store that had everything one would need during excursions. Parking was adequate for a smaller vehicle, however we were unable to park as directed due to driving a longer vehicle, therefore parked across the street ( unfortunately blocked the drive by viewing of a well created and designed lawn Halloween display: our apologies!)
- Sarah (10/5): Very comfortable. Staff in the convenience store below were so friends and knowing about the area. - Such a beautiful property. Period charm in abundance Nothing
- Debra Selina (10/5): - The accommodations were great. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and inviting. The keyless entry was easy and convenient and allowed us to arrive on our time. This suite had a king bed and a pull out couch. We were 3 adults on a weekend adventure so the room suited us. Unfortunately the pull out couch mattress was extremely uncomfortable, this was our major complaint. The only other minor hiccup was the shower, it took a long time for the water to get hot, but once it was up to temperature it was a lovely shower. I would definitely recommend this suite.

- Cupples (7/5): - Handy location to visit family. Beautiful grounds. A little bit dusty.

- Lara (10/5): Quaint accommodation in quiet area - Spacious suite and lovely garden to sit by the river. Host arranged an extra clean which was really generous as we came back and the room was spotless. None of these things are the property’s fault but in hindsight I should have booked somewhere with more going on nearby as it’s in a really remote area and more suited to hikers so we had to drive to get anywhere. There’s no lift so it was tough lugging up our suitcases as we had a lot of things for our baby and because of the location by the water, we ended up getting a lot of bug bites too so just make sure to pack some insect repellent!
- Stephen (9/5): - Comfortable bed, great location, friendly community, conveniently on top of the General Store that has great sandwiches. The wifi is slow and cell service has a hard time penetrating the brick walls.
- Sue (8/5): Lovely alternative to generic hotel - So cosy, best bed ever! So nice to stay somewhere homely and not the usual generic hotel rooms. Only 30 mins from Pearson International. Store downstairs makes excellent sandwiches- sat by the river to eat them Electricity kept tripping when A/C was on. Called owner- turned off A /C unit which fixed problem but we had a hot night.
- Brigid (10/5): - What a great spot! Really nice room.
- Ankie (8/5): good - spider webs on ceiling only visable at night
stickie hair dryer
- Neil (7/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful, clean and charming! - This hotel is absolutely beautiful! It's very, very clean and the check-in process is simple. The suite sits above a charming, eclectic general store. Just buy what you need early because it closes by 7pm! It was only a short drive into Georgetown, where we found wonderful restaurants, and the neatest little ice cream/donut shop! I'd love to stay here again!
- Ernst (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (10/5): Excellent -
- Jo-anne (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (2/5): Very poor - The problem was either the AC. It was definitely needed last night. The AC cycled continuously until I turned it off. It never cooled the room. It would shut off. Wait a couple of minutes, and start up loud. And then transition to very loud. Then back to off. The room was great; clean; all good stuff. Just impossible to sleep because of the heat; the AC not cooling the room; and being VERY LOUD. AC
- Natalya (10/5): Exceptional -
- DJ (2/5): - Little bit creepy. Maybe shouldn’t be offered on any longer on Expedia.
- Gary (8/5): Perfect for a short stopover in a quaint small town - The property was beautiful and picturesque located on a river with beautiful grounds in a charming building. It could have been a bit cleaner. Would have liked to use the ceiling fan instead of the A/C but it was filled with a layer of dust. We also found some dirty underwear in the bedside drawer, likely from a previous guest.
- Anonymous (1/5): We went there, stayed for 20 minutes. After observing everything and booked somewhere else. That means we didn’t stayed - Nothing Cleanliness, the fan was full of dust, bed sheet, bed, furniture was dusty. Towels were old and used. Floor was broken.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (4/5): Room for improvement - Location was great for accessing the Canadian Open at TPC Toronto.
Nice grounds at the back with seats by the river.
Comfortable King size bed
Small but functional bathroom
Parking not a problem even though in front of the General Store
Access was secure at street entry and suite entry with digital code
Handy having the store below for missing supplies. Suite was equipped with a small, noisy window AC unit in the bedroom area which had to be switched off at night or you could not sleep.
Overhead ceiling fan helped with airflow but the space was very warm to sleep in.
TV and cable box - initially variety of channels was very restricted (news, game shows and sports) and not all "available" channels actually were available. Owner "upgraded" the package so had a few more choices. No streaming options available.
Bed - The mattress was comfortable but the mattress cover and sheets were "thick" and too warm for this time of year.
Some of the bed pillows were questionable but I always bring my own.
Bathroom - shower, sink and toilet. The sink tended to drain even with the plug down and the taps need to be tightened. Small bar soap was provided but would have been nice to have a dish to put it in or some pump soap. The shower stall was fine with sample size shower gel, shampoo & conditioner. The towels supplied were of varying quality.
Lounge/kitchen area - includes a very small bar fridge, microwave, coffee maker and various cups, glasses, plastic utensils and plates. Coffee packets were provided but no tea bags or kettle (we took our own). There was a couch and armchair in this area but no window or view so we did not sit in that area.
The suite was serviced after 3 nights but not sure if the bed sheets were actually changed. Restock of toilet paper was appreciated as the initial 3 rolls were getting low.
- Anonymous (9/5): We enjoyed our stay at Cheltenham Suites. The rooms were quaint, clean, quiet, and nicely decorated. - This place is located in a quaint little town over a general store. The room was nicely decorated, very clean, had nice towels, a comfortable bed with soft sheets, and a modern TV. There was also a loveseat, microwave and mini fridge in a charming separate room. The suite was missing some key items such as: Kleenex, lotion, creamers, stir sticks or spoons for coffee/tea, and disposable glasses for the bathroom and kitchen areas. The freezer in the minifridge was missing the door, covered with frost, and not functioning correctly. The TV had only a few channels.
- Don (9/5): Superb -
- Sheina (10/5): - Beautiful location, quiet, clean and comfortable! Everything was exactly as pictured! Great place to stay!
- Avinash (10/5): Hidden gem! - Hidden gem with old school charm. Very reasonable as well.
- Rosanne (5/5): it was quaint and clean. - We didn't get a breakfast The bed was too soft for our liking and there was nothing to watch on the tv. very outdated.
- Susan (9/5): Cute boutique hotel - The uniqueness and quaint location. Room was spacious, sitting area was a nice to have and mini fridge was a bonus. It is on the river.
- Deon (8/5): Very good - Did not have breakfast Wifi connection could have been better
- Jorge (7/5): Cozy place but not very well managed. - Nice cozy room. Very little space to put our clothing, hardly any hanging space. Nobody to reach out to. Nobody cleaned the room during our stay.

- Kevin (10/5): - It is a beautiful historic building situated in a gorgeous unique natural landscape! The room was amazing and the store was very quaint with very friendly staff. Definitely going to return, more than once!
- Danielle (9/5): Superb -
- Tony (10/5): Great stay in a historical building. - The room (Badlands) was spacious with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom with a walk-in shower and a sitting area with a kitchenette. Entrance was self-serve with side door and room codes required. The building is a beautiful 1800’s (?) historical stone structure, wide plank flooring and exposed ceiling beams. Very traditional and quite romantic. Great value for the price. I would definitely start there again.
- Natalya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alberto (8/5): Well maintained property, very comfortable and clean. - Clean, well kept, quiet, comfortable.
- Marie (10/5): - This property has pros and cons. Very charming room with furniture appropriate for the setting. Large space with higher ceiling height. very convenient for a stay before departure from Toronto airport. Cons. Could use some maintenance and more detail for cleaning and dusting.
- Natalya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (6/5): A unique stay that could use some TLC. - Uniqueness Could use a more thorough cleaning and update (ie change lightbulbs, new shower curtain).
- Jean-pierre (9/5): It would be a comfortable place to hang out a few days. - Comfortable, spacious and unique. It was charming and well accessorized, the room didn't have the cookie cutter appearance of a typical motel room. It is a pleasnt space, an entry room with seating and mini fridge and coffeemaker, that lead to the bed room with a closet and a bathroom to the side, a small apartment. The ceiling fan could use a dusting and a fresh bulb or two, and the main entry key pad was a little hard to recognize in the dark, having said that all was in good order and clean.
- John (10/5): Would definitely stay again - Two suites (we were in the Badlands one) on the second floor above the Cheltenham General Store, built in 1865. Large sitting room with fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Period decorated bedroom with a comfortable king size bed, and en-suite (shower only). Very quiet. Reasonable selection of TV channels and a high quality set. Easy access via keypad. Very fast wi-fi. Be careful in the shower - the floor is slippery. We put down a small towel — problem solved.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great safe location with a super comfy bed and quaint room! I had been travelling all week with meetings in Caledon today so this was the perfect spot to relax and get a good nights sleep. Located above a general store and a historic building the owner did a great job to renovate the space above to create 2 lovely spacious rooms. I only wish I would have had time to visit the store or area.
- Gerard (10/5): Comfort and charm at an excellent price. - The location was great and it was easy to access when we got there. We asked for an early arrival time and it was granted. The place was clean and had lots of charm. The TV was working and the coffee was ready to be brewed. All was well. That I couldn't stay longer. The weather was perfect and the leaves were in full autumn colour. The cafe downstairs served a delicious breakfast and we enjoyed the stay. There was nothing not to like.
- Natalya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marieta (10/5): Satisfied - Cleanliness Nothing
- Judy (8/5): Furnishings took us back to grandma,s house! Quaint! - Ok The steps were steep to carry luggage up. We are 80 yr. Olds. Don,t believe lack of elevator is mentioned on advertisement for this property!
- Jerry (10/5): Great place for a quiet break - Nice large open room with adjoining sitting area. Great bed. Great location
- Deepa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melinda (10/5): - It’s a lovely old building (circa 1857) full of charm…like stepping back in time. Breakfast is not included but you can go downstairs to the General Store and get a breakfast sandwich (and have a chat with the lady making it) that’s better than any fast food chain makes.
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): - The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and an adjacent sitting room. The cleaning person and store staff were helpful. The only issue which was as advertised were a fairly long set of stairs to the suite.
- Trevor (9/5): Superb -
- Terry (8/5): Very good -
- Tomasz (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diana (8/5): - We loved how it was so full of character. It was fun staying above an old general store. It was beautiful and clean. The bed was comfortable too.
- Beatty (7/5): Mixed: delightful and unusual. - Enjoyed staying in a lovely historical property. Lovely historical village. Well appointed rooms. Modern bathroom w plenty of towels. Wonderful and huge king sized bed. Wished I was free to stay longer and enjoy the room more and the backyard overlooking river/creek. I needed to call the Property as there was a recording of piano music playing for many hours which was annoying and disruptive. It stopped after the call.
- Heidi (8/5): Very good - Quiet location, comfortable bed. The neighborhood was quite pretty, out in the countryside. Difficult to pull out of parking spaces, could not see oncoming traffic
- Deepa (9/5): Superb -
- Stewart (8/5): Very good -
- Denise (10/5): - Great stay.
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (10/5): Excellent accommodations - Close to our golf event for the following day Parking was tight with a truck
- Kylie (10/5): We had the loveliest stay and can’t wait to return - It was a beautiful building with clean and comfortable amenities with beautiful grounds. The general store located below has delicious sandwiches, fresh coffee and ice cream! It would be more convenient if it was closer to more food options but it’s just a quick drive for more options.
- Ronald (6/5): Comfortable double bed, and bathroom. In a second floor walk-up, air conditioned room; no breakfast. - The bed was most comfortable and the bathroom clean; except for a deep chip in the porcelain sink needing repair. We found the 20 steps of the staircase to the second floor very challenging, as there was no chair lift or elevator. Carrying our luggage upstairs was pretty difficult. The wooden walkway to the side door entrance needed repair and was not very tidy. There was no possibility of breakfast or food service, except the most limited general store below the rooms; it was not very inviting. Compared to bed and breakfast offerings in the Orangeville area this was sub-standard.
- Malcolm (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): Love this place - Beautiful location. Big clean room with high ceilings and a comfy bed. Felt like a country inn. And you can go downstairs and get yummy sandwiches and eat them in a charming little dining room, or sit on the deck or in a muskoka chair by the river. Perfection.
- Valeria (9/5): Superb -
- Phillip (8/5): Very good -
- Deepa (9/5): Superb -
- Anirudh (10/5): - Very cute and cozy, spacious place to stay
- Shadi (10/5): - The room was lovely and clean, and the staff/owners were really helpful. We needed an early check in to get to a Wedding and they were nice enough to accommodate.
- Catherine (3/5): Poor - Noisy ac. Heating in even if summer. Owner shrugged his shoulders when told the next morning.
- Johnny (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely. Tons of character. Room is huge and bed is incredibly comfortable. Awesome shower. Coffee at General Store delicious and reasonable price. Lovely location on river. Easy access with code and good parking. Super value!!!
- Marina (7/5): Good - Nice style and decoration. Too much dust everywhere, and the ceiling fun had spider webs.
2 spaces but with only one air condition unit in one room.
- Ruthann (8/5): Spacious and clean. Perfect for overnight. - Spacious and immaculate. Easy arrival. Surprisingly big. Skylight in bathroom. King size bed was good: not overly firm. Would have liked a lighter blanket plus the sheet. Duvet pretty but too heavy for summer. Nice sitting room also: coffeemaker makes 5 cups. Furnishings antique. Air conditioning was good. Bathroom immaculate.
- Deepa (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Relaxing - The beds were amazing! Wish I knew the style as I would buy one for my home.
- Michael (10/5): Will definitely be visiting again. - Clean, antique, extremely comfortable bed and room. Beautiful and unique. Need another set of towels when your staying 2 nights and need Kleenex’s
- Larry (10/5): - Beautiful character home and community.
- Brenda (10/5): - Comfy homelike unit with lots of space. I love the heritage feel. Accessible shower. Suite is atop a rather long set of stairs, which might be a problem for some.
