Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): -
- Nicole (8/5): Great facility overall but, doors need attention and be fixed permanently. - Love the rooms and hotel in general. Always clean and comfortable with a fresh feel. Staff is friendly and I love the lobby area. The breakfast is pretty decent. I have stayed at this location two times in a month and both times I was there, the hallway exit door was "out of service - needed reprogramming". While it seems it should be fairly irrelevant - it's highly inconvenient and is one of the reasons why I choose my room the way I do - to be near an side door that I can utilize going both in AND out. The door needs to be fixed properly.
- Margaret (8/5): This was a good place for an overnight stay - Very clean. The room was a modern efficiency room that worked but I would not want to stay several days. There were nice activities available outside the room, however (pool table). Good interactions with staff. A variety of breakfast foods in the morning. Wished the room had been a bit wider, but it worked for an overnight stay
- Amy (6/5): -
- Heidi (8/5): - Great location We stayed more than one night the next day our cards were deactivated. The room was very, very small, but nice and clean.
- Kate (9/5): -
- Gloria (10/5): 1 day - Breakfast was great, staff friendly A few items missing from our room, kleenex, shampoo and only one set of towels
- Magill (8/5): - Our room was up to date, clean and comfortable. The facilty did not respond to a request for bottom floor accommodations. Traffic noice.
- Wayne (5/5): It was fine. However, for the price, I felt the room should have been cleaner. There was dry mud on the floor, garbage i - It was close to my destination It was not very clean
- James (9/5): -
- Judy (10/5): I would stay here again - Great location for us. Rooms were large and beds comfy. It was all very clean
- Montgomery (7/5): - Lobby was very nice and the 24/7 to buy items was nice. Especially since I came late do to my flight being diverted to cedar rapids do to weather. Floor was awesome. Wish there would have been a lamp by the bed.
- Krisann (8/5): This was my first exposure to a minimalist hotel. I really enjoyed it for our quick one night stay - I like other rooms designed to be kept clean easily. In the bathroom the transition between the floor and the wall could have been better designed for easier cleaning. There were signs of wear that made it look not as clean as it could have been.
- Kyle (5/5): - Very tiny room for the price. Limited amenities Room was too warm despite that I turned the temperature down to 63 & had the fan running. Breakfast was marginal
- Tim (10/5): -
- Preston (10/5): - Nice, clean and very friendly front desk staff!
- Brian (10/5): Good Overnight on the road - Nice fitness center, open and airy
- Patricia (8/5): -
- Nelmary (10/5): - Buena ubicación y comodidad No tenía shampoo
- Ruella (9/5): The stay was great. But we just noticed that the bathroom door can’t be closed and the iron plate somehow hard to pick u -
- Efrain (10/5): - Clean rooms Everything was perfect
- Andre (4/5): -
- Alexandria (9/5): -
- Brian (10/5): - Modern look to the style of decorations. Huge room. Coffee was not that good. :(
- Keysha (7/5): Great location near eatery and shopping stores. - The breakfast offered was very nice. Would like to see more vegetarian options though. The room was small. Got a King bed room and it felt very tight.
- Martha (10/5): - Parking was safe and easy
- Jeffrey (6/5): - If you are staying for 1 day it is ok.. It is cramped and limited space for your suitcases.. The bathroom was not clean and mold was growing in the sink drain holes..It is just old ..It is per friendly but that was about it..
- Raymond (10/5): 10/10 highly recommended great one night stay for a boxing event - 24 hr fitness center
Great staff
Comfortable bedding
Nice pillows
Nice bed very comfortable slept GREAT Honestly nothing!
- Howard (6/5): - Room was nice but the sevice was bad had to ask for more towels and toilet paper when they came into the room did not make the beds when we went to get breakfast the food was not hot they seemed to cater to CRST then care about the regular guest
- Diana (8/5): - The staff made it seem like it was a hassle that we came in at 3am. We drove from another state and wanted to make sure they held our room. After all, we were charged for it. I don’t think it’s fair that you could potentially lose your room that you already paid for by checking in late. Other than that, the hotel was great. Would stay again.
- Vanessa (10/5): - My daughters and I were traveling alone, and felt very safe and comfortable here!
- James (6/5): - Hotel had a massive number of youth sports teams checking in at the time we arrived, slowing down our checking and resulting in a lot of poise in the lobby.
- Becky (9/5): -
- Patrick (6/5): - M
- Rory (6/5): - Location was good a staff was great Bed was not comfortable for my wife and the room was really cold due to the A/C being left on max cooling before we got in
- Randall (10/5): - No complaints
- susan (8/5): - Great stay!
- Sarah (5/5): -
- Jill (10/5): - Went to a Kernels game and breweries. C I conveniently located. Nice staff. Breakfast hours could be later.. otherwise very nice
- Deborah (10/5): Very happy with our stay. - Very clean and love that there was not carpet in the rooms! Delicious breakfast. Nothing, we enjoyed it.
- ROBERT (10/5): - Good breakfast. Bed was good mattress
- Martin (7/5): Clean - Clean and convenient. Definitely spartan rooms and really geared for GenXers or younger. But overall it was nice.
- Lisa (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and attentive
- Renee (8/5): - They looked like they were updating lets hope the will updat the hard mattresses and maybe a deep clean wasnt horrible just needed a tune up and clean showers
- Marty (10/5): - Loved the area!!!
- Linda (9/5): - clean and quiet. appreciate the brighter lighting in the room!
- Chad (4/5): Its ok but loud. - First off the room was not ready after 3pm and they asked if i will take A accessible room i said no thinking there are others out there that booked that room and probably needed it. She ended up giving us someone's else's room and it was a accessible room as well. Got to the room and it was very noisy hoping that it was just because of check in. Nope it went on all night very loud barely got any sleep. Also looked like maybe blood over by the chair and on the curtin that came down. Overall i would not stay here again.
- Alyssa (6/5): - Common spaces were very clean and front desk was very helpful!
I’m sure it’s common but it’s weird if you are staying for 2 nights your room doesn’t get cleaned while you are staying there.
The chair in the room had a stain and the bed sheets/pillows were not comfortable. The mattress was stained and so was the sheet protector.
- Carrie Amanda (8/5): Great location to McGrath amphitheater and downtown. - Great location and great shower. Friendly staff. Bath towel was disappointing. Lotion and hand soap dispensers were almost empty,
- Angela (8/5): - The property was clean and room was good for a short stay. Staff was friendly, breakfast was outstanding. We happen to stay during a baseball tournament, so it was completely booked, and also during construction of the hotel, which was a little of an inconvenience. Overall, I would suggest it for anyone passing through.
- Edward (6/5): Pleasant - Lighting in room was poor. 1 switch to turn on all lights at head of beds was a very poor design. I would not stay here again because of this.
- Richard (10/5): - Always great
- Marie (7/5): Good -
- Ehrin (10/5): - There was some construction going on nearby otherwise great
- Jay (8/5): - Friendly staff, clean hotel, cozy room! The breakfast buffet was a tad disappointing - there were not much to choose from. And if you wanted ice or something to be microwaved, you had to walk all the way to the lobby to do that. Plus the fridge in the hotel room is very tiny. Otherwise, it’s a nice hotel and located next to restaurants and stores. Pretty convenient.
- 888jerryv (2/5): Shirt Show - What a disappointment, I am a Hilton Honors member as are 100 percent of my colleagues. We average 1-2 stays per month at Hilton properties, hence my choice to stay here on a trip to visit family. First, I want to say, do not stay on the side facing Edgewood Ave, it sounds like they use it for a drag strip all night long. Second, don’t expect to get your room made up daily, we were there for 3 nights, not made up once. Went to front desk to complain and was told to bring my used towels and they would give us fresh ones, rooms are only made up every other day, never happened. Third, when we checked out and complained, we were told to contact the manager, Shawn Turner for an adjustment on bill. I did, via phone and email and he never responded. I also contacts Hilton and nothing from them either. Fourth, they double charged my cc, had to dispute through cc company as Shawn is apparently so busy he couldn’t respond. Fifth, walked through the lobby morning two and needed a gas mask as it reeked of burnt toast. Lastly, this area is sketchy, lots of unsavory folks hanging out nearby.
- Laurie (6/5): - Beds were horrible. Room was small. No where to sit to watch tv. Breakfast was cold no milk for cereal. Felt bad for the lady at the front desk. Visitors got into a fight and she had to clean up all the blood.
Liked the fact that you could buy drinks and snacks at the front desk.
Thought it was alittle pricey but needed to go for a funeral and this was handy to where we needed to be.
- newgeezer (2/5): Avoid staying here - I wish I could say something good about our stay at the hotel but I can't come up with anything. It started with check in when we were not acknowledged as Hilton Honors members. There was a sign by the check in desk that said that housekeeping will come every other day but you could ask for daily housekeeping. We asked for that and they put it on our account. We were there 3 nights and the only housekeeping we ever got was fresh towels and only because to asked for it. We repeatedly asked for housekeeping and were assured it would happen but it never did.
The room was OK but had no carpet so felt unclean. The room number was missing by the entry door. The common areas did not seem to get vacuumed very often.
We tried the breakfast the first morning but it was meager and the toaster was not working. The other mornings we ate at nearby restaurants.
There is construction going on at the hotel and sometimes the front entrance was blocked by equipment.
We tried to change hotels but could not find a room nearby so had to put up with the hotel for 3 days.
- Austin (10/5): - Room was efficient, not much room to maneuver but just enough if your just staying one night to sleep
- Heidi (10/5): - Great place to stay.
- Linda (10/5): - Good evening stay
- Jodi (10/5): - Everyone was very nice. We had trouble with our tv and they came right up and fixed it. The room was very clean.
- Klayton (10/5): - It was a nice place to come and stay for a baseball tournament.
- Yenifer (10/5): - Just love the hotel!!
- Jeanna (10/5): - Loved this hotel for the price! The shelving in the rooms and the non-carpeted floor was great. The $1.00 washer/dryer was perfect for cleaning my son’s baseball uniforms. Excellent breakfast and clean fitness center too!
- Reynolds (3/5): Poor - People at desk was very nice and tried to help Tv and blinds in room didn't work.
- Jennifer (8/5): Great for short stays - Staff was very friendly. Just passing through on our way home and a good place to stay for short stays. Housekeeping could do a better job cleaning the floors, but overall was clean. A lot of food options nearby as well.
- Ferguson (5/5): Passable -
- Sue (8/5): Tru hotel is a good value if you are staying just one night and they all are pet friendly - Tru is pet friendly which is what we needed. They accommodated it nicely with a close green area and gave out poop bags. We appreciated that.
We only stayed one night on our way home from other adventures A microwave in the room.
- Valerie (10/5): - Mike at the front desk was great! Very friendly and welcoming.
- Alan (10/5): - Thanks for the popcorn!
- Vyacheslav (2/5): - No room available even though Expedia says it’s available
- Diana (10/5): - The room didn't have any drawers.
- James (6/5): - Cars dragging behind the property on Saturday night - very load.
- Eric (8/5): - Clean. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Happy with my stay.
- Barr (10/5): Exceptional -
- MATTHEW Ferris (8/5): - Efficient, cheap, clean, safe, quiet
- Caren (6/5): We were only there overnite. As a place to sleep it was ok but room was not what we expected . - Breakfast was edible. Nothing special. Location was ok. Room was sparse. No furnishings. Only chair was a desk chair
- Junee (9/5): Superb -
- Kassandra (8/5): - The lobby was a fun area. Pool table and games available.
- MAYIE (10/5): - NOTHING
- Conger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kenny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daryl (8/5): - Clean great staff friendly
- Dolores (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donita (9/5): Very nice! - It was bright, clean & comfortable Nothing
- Connie (10/5): - Tru made Easter Weekend very comfortable. The breakfast was good and always full. Tru is located in one of the best sections of town with lots of shopping, dining options, easy parking, safe and quiet. Thanks for what you do to make your guest comfortable.
- Baumhover (8/5): Very good -
- benjamin (2/5): Think twice and don’t always believe pictures. - Noisy people on floor, room had tile floors. If you dropped something it was loud. Trouble with hooking up electronic to tv, desk had ya call a 1800 customer service person. Noisy guest in lobby during breakfast police were called. An hour later she’s still in parking lot with cops screaming. Room gave you a claustrophobic feel.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Fantastic staff! We had a great stay!
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional - Location location location very clean good breakfast nice people Nothing
- Johnderr (10/5): Exceptional - Snack shop, breakfast included, location, pool for the kids, great price No hot tub in my room lol and no smart tvs
- Kimberly (8/5): - Really like this hotel. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Complimentary breakfast is really good too!
- Katelyn (10/5): - At first glance the hotel is bright and lively. The exterior and interior was decorated in bright, modern colors and accessories. The beds were super comfortable. The shower had great pressure, the towels were so soft! And the soaps provided were delicious! They were moisturizing and smelled amazing.
- Jake (2/5): - I didnt stay, i trued canceling this a number of times. The hotel told me they would, but it had to be done through Expedia. I still have not heard back
- Sharon (6/5): - Room TV didn’t work. Staff had to come fix it. Then remote quit. No Kleenex in room. Only two towels BTN channel on TV not available when it’s 2 miles away from the University of Iowa. Unacceptable
- Michelle (2/5): - Took 35 minutes to check in and the guy had no clue what he was doing
- Doreen (8/5): Very good -
- Keenan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darnell (10/5): - Clean
