Guest Reviews

- Fabiola (10/5): Nice place, good location - The location is perfect you are in Hollywood around stores, restaurants, cvs, Walgreens and an outdoor mall. Mark the manager goes above and beyond super nice person. We would stay there again if we come back to LA. There’s a kitchen and free instant soup/cookies/ coffee. I will just suggest to add a curtain to the window so the sun don’t come direct to your face in the morning. But we just hang a towel with the hangers and that works perfectly
- Izabel (10/5): Great! - Great location, Mark gave us amazing tips an we were super hosted. Clean, welcoming and friendly!
- Carla (10/5): Perfect location. Excellent customer service - The stay at this hotel was wonderful. The location is excellent, right on the Walk of Fame. The price is very affordable. They have a well-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, and you can make your own breakfast. Mark's customer service was second to none. He knows how to give you the best recommendations for visiting LA. Thank you for every detail.
- Reika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Mark was brilliant!! Great value and safe, central location. - Amazing location! Access to all the essentials and the heart of Hollywood! The manager Mark was the best accomodation manager we have ever come across. So helpful and made us feel much more comfortable. Nothing
- José (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and simple hotel and hostel, I came back because of good customer service from Manager Mark, if you are first time in LA Mark will help you plan memorable trip, I am very thankful to Mark he is like a legend of Hollywood.
- Radek (10/5): Exceptional - Mark was great.
- Planetrover (8/5): Good budget option - Good budget option, one of the rare places at that price point that has private bathrooms. Was easy to get around by public transit. Area is busy till late so I felt safe returning at night. Mark, the owner was very welcoming. It's an older property, so it got cold at night. The street can be noisy, bring eye mask and earplugs.
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yi-chen (9/5): Superb - Staff: The receptionist, Mark, is super friendly, hospitable and helpful. Apart from the hotel itself, he provided a brief but complete introduction of the neighbourhood, such as where to get the affordable food/ daily supplies, how to reach the public transportation e.g., Metro or bus, and assist in planning your itinerary if needed. He even offered his what's app number, with which the guests can get hold of him after working hours for any (urgent) requests.
Location: The hotel is on Hollywood Blvd. aka the walk of fame. Chinese Theatre is nearby. Almost everything is within walkable distance, like supermarket, pharmacy, coffee shops, souvenir stores, deli, restaurants, bars etc. Quite convenient for a traveler, who doesn't/can't drive. Some attractions, e.g., farmers market, the Grove, downtown LA, Runyon Canyon Park are accessible by bus and/or metra plus a little bit of walk ( for approx.15~20 mins from the terminal to the sights).
Facilities: I stayed in a room with a private bathroom away from the main street. It was tidy, cozy & quiet. Hot shower was not a problem. Wifi is strong and stable. Provided you need an extra blanket for the night or a hair dryer, just ask Mark for help. Besides, there is a shared kitchen equipped with stoves, pans, utensil and other kitchen gadgets. On top of that, the hostel also offers free simple breakfast: spreads, toast, milk, cereals. All these are truly the best a budget traveller can get. None.
- Christian (10/5): Great Location, Great Staff Mr Mark, Affordable Price - STAFF 10/10: Mr. Mark at the reception was very generous with his help even with my luggages and made my stay all throughout truly the best! He ensured my room is all good and he shared me all insights to make the most out of my LA experience. He made himself available even beyond working hours by offering his whatsapp number. He provided excellent customer service and even went the extra mile. You can feel he sincerely cares for the guests of their hotel. Thank you Mark! I am definitely booking your hotel again when I am back and will recommend to all my friends.
LOCATION 10/10: right at the walk of fame Hollywood. Just few steps across are the bus station, Target grocery store, CVS pharmacy, restaurants, marshal, souvenirs. Beside also has eateries, grocery store, 2 mins walk to Chinese Theater, 4 mins walk to subway Metro Station. There are tour companies nearby. The best location indeed.
COMFORT 10/10: Complete with everything i need, the bed was very nice and comfortable, made me sound asleep for the rest of my 8 nights there.
CLEANLINESS 10/10: Everything is super clean.
WIFI 10/10: very strong & stable wifi
VALUE FOR MONEY 10/10: super worth it with its great staff, great location and nice room. Mark offers their kitchen pantry with lots of free cereals, bread and spreads. All experiences I had were all great…
- Alison (10/5): 5 star caring ! - It was the most welcome place I have been . The Host Mark and Manager is very friendly and caring !!
It’s one those places you will always come back ! Nothing to complain at all !
- Julio (9/5): Good, clean and woth it - Really good deal. I stayed in the Hotel part, so I don't know about the hostel rooms. Great location in front of the Chinese Theater. Very good to those who want to walk around the walk of fame and be in Hollywood. Mark is a very good host and very nice guy. Yeah, it is worth it, and don't worry about the neighborhood. Until 11 PM there are people around, tourists, open shops, etc. Very safe to walk around. The place is clean and the shower is hot.
- Regina (8/5): It is a small hostel, we really didn’t expect much but we were wowed by the customer service. It was beyond our expectat - Very good location! Mark was very helpful, making sure of our seem-less arrival despite the film shooting happening in the area. He was very personable and gave a lot of info on ‘must try’ and ‘must visit’. Breakfast was supposed to be not included in the stay but the pantry was generously stocked with complimentary breads, spreads, cereals, etc. Pillows were too soft to give support. There’s a small window that didn’t have curtain to block outside lights if you want to sleep in a bit more.
- Jiwon (10/5): the best - location and the kind staffs.
Mark is an angel who lives in city of angels.
you’ll know why people mention Mark and Mark is benefit of this accommodation after your stay.
also the neighbors are kind and helped me a lot.
the location is absolutely great! best to go to runyon canyon safely and front of the accommodation has all things what you need! especially in n out ;) + target(combined market&starbucks) + pharmacy
as you see on the map just they’re located heart of hollywood but at the night time keep in calm and you can sleep well without any interruptions.
and all the things are safe and cozy + you can have 24h cereal bar + clean kitchen to cook
the room is clean and cozy.
everything is really value for the budget!
- Greg (9/5): Right on the boulevard. Handy to public transport that gave us freedom to wander - Hostel was well set up for travellers. Mark made us feel welcome and had lots of good suggestions. We loved the stocked kitchen. So long since we could have a breakfast… what and when we wanted. It’s a hostel style accommodation. Perfect for what we wanted
- Kamil (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was cool, I will come back for sure! Mark is great person, thats the most important thing.
Kitchen and food - great, you can eat good breakfast made by yourself. Room was good also, bed nice, nothing with bad things, bathroom okay. With that price its very nice thing in Hollywood. Comfortable.
- Rudolph (9/5): Superb - Location The smell of the entrance 🥲
- Paulina (10/5): A great hostel to stay if you want to travel around Hollywood/LA! - Mark the host was absolutely amazing - he gave me a lot of information about what to do, what not to do etc. There was food in the kitchen that you can have. Great location as well, really good value!
- Asim (10/5): Mr. Mark is best personality and guides very well about Hollywood tourist points - Its on a very good location such as at heart of Hollywood and all amenities on walking distance such as grossary shops, shoping malls etc. The good thing is there is a man at reception having name is Mark, he is very cooperative and best guider, you will save your a lot of money by the guidance of Mr Mark. It was seems all well
- Fernando (10/5): Perfect location! Everything you need for your stay at Hollywood. Outstanding service from Mark! - I visited LA with my brother. Hollywood Highland Hotel is the best option if you're looking to stay in the heart of Hollywood. PERFECT location, in front of the Chinese Theater and really close to the metro.
The rooms are super clean, it seems that they just renewed the bathroom as everything looks super new and clean.
They have a kitchen with lots of supplies which was a great surprise.
Last but not least, the host Mark is AMAZING, he is really kind, serviceable, and a great person all-around. He truly is a gem. Thanks for everything Mark.
Deserved 5 star rating! When I come back to LA, I'll stay here!
- Svetozar (10/5): Really happy that I booked this one! - Located right in the middle of Hollywood, Runyon Canyon park nearby, as well as all the famous attractions. The room was spacious, clean. Tea, coffee and all the equipment in the kitchen to make a meal. The owner is incredibly helpful and pleasant. I couldn't extend my stay, everything was fully booked.
- Shane (8/5): Great location, friendly service and good value - if you're not too particular. - The manager, brother Mark, was very friendly and accommodating. He helped with carrying luggage and offering advice for LA visitors. I had a number of hours to fill between checkout time and leaving for the airport. The hostel allowed me to store my luggage and use the facilities until it was time to catch my flight. The location is excellent with multiple supermarkets across the road and both train and bus stops close by. The kitchen has a range of cooking facilities and offers complimentary cereal, bread, juice, milk and utensils. As a solo male traveler, who was seeking accommodation that wasn't too expensive and was close to the Hollywood Bowl, the hotel ticked most boxes for me. I would have liked a curtain for the window. Also, the TV room doesn't actually have a TV in it. The two biggest factors to take into consideration will be: a) noise levels (the hostel is located in amongst the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard) so be realistic and light sleepers take note and b) the building is old and has its limitations. People who are overly particular, could have issues... but for me, I was seeking a place that was central and in my budget. I had no issues sleeping after a full day of roaming LA and going to concerts.
- Silvia (8/5): Great location. Max kindness. Comfy bed - The location! Directly on the walk of fame
- Red line hollywood highline metro and bus stop to move easily to other parts of the city
-The bed was comfortable. I rested well.
- Mark is awesome! He really cares of your stay and your confort. He makes all possible to improve your stay
- The kitchen was ok to make a quick dish or something for breakfast but missing reusable glasses, plates and cutlery
- There is a target supermarket in front of the hostal - My bedroom had a fix window so I couln’t open to have fresh air, remove odours…
- There was no possibility to make the room darker to sleep. I slept with a sleep mask and hanged a blanket to cover the window
- It was also noisy because my room was facing the main street. Earplugs helped. Nevertheless around 1am and 8am is mostly quiet.
-I didn’t like the excessive use of disposable cutlery or glass. There was almost no reusable cutlery, plates and glasses. Environmental responsibility is also important.
-The building is old and furniture could be renovated
- Missed a shelf in the bathroom for my products (nothing really bothering)
- Jennifer (9/5): A safe, affordable and clean place to stay on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! - Mike is doing a wonderful job taking care of the property and especially the guests! He was very communicative and accommodating to my very late arrival time. The location is prime; right between a fully-stocked convenience store and pizza-by-the slice restaurant, across from Target and CVS. There are great bars and restaurants nearby and of course, there is all the charm of the Walk of Fame to take in! Hard Rock Cafe, the Roosevelt Hotel, the Jamieson Irish Pub, and Frolic Cocktail Bar are some great places within walking distance that I enjoyed visiting during my stay.
The facilities are safe, clean, and surprisingly quiet. My room was spotless and the bed was so cozy with fluffy pillows and high-thread count sheets! There is a full kitchen with snacks and condiments available, coffee, tea, milk, and juice. I will definitely stay with Mike the next time I come through LA. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay! Cheers! "Cissy" from the USA made a comment on October 23rd, 2024 that does not accurately reflect the property's attributes. She left it to the last minute to book accommodation for a concert she was attending. It sounds to me like she waited too long to set aside accommodation. Concert tickets typically go on sale well in advance of the event. Of course, her options would be limited when she chose not to plan accommodation in advance.
She misspelled the word "hostel" writing "hostile" instead which is not a term I would associate with the property, at all! Hollywood's streets can be interesting, but this is a very safe and clean place to rest your head. Maybe next time Cissy should plan ahead a little better.
- Cissy (6/5): Pleasant - The location is right on Hollywood Ave, next to aha dollar hotel called the Roosevelt. It's strange to give this review because there was nothing anywhere near the Hollywood bowl left and we had a concert to go to so I booked it not realizing that it was a hostel. Yes, it's definitely a hostel and everything about it is a hostel but everything was clean and neat, the staff were wonderful, and I didn't even feel scared or weird about the location. But I'm telling you, it's a hostile and that's just one step above a flop house from the looks of it outside. It'll probably freak you out and I don't recommend it but it's not because it wasn't safe or it wasn't clean or the people weren't nice, it's just a little too freaky for me.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - Mark is amazing! The property was super clean, and I had everything I needed. If I come back to LA, I’ll definitely stay here again. It’s one of the most affordable options in the heart of the Walk of Fame, and the area feels safe.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - My friend and I stayed at a hotel during our visit to Los Angeles, and I think this is the best location we could have chosen. We had immediate access to the main street with stores, restaurants, and the Walk of Fame. It was pleasant to sleep at night as there was no excessive noise. The room was clean, and we had our own bathroom. We were especially satisfied with the hospitality from Mark, who made our stay easier by offering to store our luggage until our afternoon flight, providing options for breakfast and coffee, changing towels, and helping with planning our city tour. If you're coming to Los Angeles, I highly recommend this place for its location, hospitality, and cleanliness. Thank you, Mark, for everything!❤️
- Joe (9/5): Great location, missed a TV though. - Location in Hollywood CA. Full kitchen and free stuff to eat: cereal, pancakes, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. They also had milk and orange juice. I did miss having a TV.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, slap bang in middle of Hollywood walk of fame, so handy for sights, buses & metro stop opposite, great for Target store & other food options.
Mark was very friendly & helpful, there was a kitchen stocked with free food and fridge & microwave, very useful to save money. Big plain rooms had no TV but no issue for me, it's a hostel style place as opposed to a flash hotel.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - Location, close to everything.
Easy access to public transportation
Close to Entertainment,
Shopping.
Nearby Hollywood Bowl,Universal Studios
Lala land Walk of Fame Target
CVS Pharmacy , Restaurants
Tour Buses out side the door and soveignior shops
Professional, Courteous staff, and The manager Mark makes you feel welcomed
There's even a place to park your car at nearby parking lot for a minimum fee
It's Hollywood what's not to enjoy ☺️
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (6/5): Pleasant - I was given the most quiet room of all, thanks to caring owner.
There was also complimentary snack in the kitchen , bread and juice every Day, which was nice. Also a microwave and a fridge.
Owner also let me check out later which was also nice.
Good wifi.
There was Target across the Street, and many different Shops.
Owner gave me good advise about the area and travel tips.
Some clubs are nearby. Even though owner gave me the most quiet room of all, the one facing inner yard, or was not quiet at the end. There was some constant factory noise outside, even earplugs and tiredness not always helped, still woke up to it. All other rooms were facing the busy Hollywood Street, i doubt people can even sleep with that noise.
No curtains on window.
Nearby area is scary at night with some homeless and weird men around. But its not the worst and it seems its everywhere like this in LA.
- Jessica (8/5): Highland on Hollywood - I loved that there was free food available! That was my first hostel stay that provided free food. I didn't spend any money on food! Also, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was clean. The AC worked well. Mark was a very nice and accommodating host. I would definitely stay again at Highland! I wouldn't have minded an extra blanket. At night, the AC really keeps it cool.
- Holly (9/5): Superb - Mark was a wonderful host. He made me feel very welcome and at home. He allowed me to view two rooms and choose which one I would prefer. He helped me with moving my heavy luggage up and down the stairs. He had lots of great local recommendations to provide. There was free food available 24/7 in the kitchen and you were able to help yourself with whatever you wanted, which was a lovely surprise as there was never any notice of included food.
The location is amazing, can't be beat. Super close to the metro too.
- Darya (7/5): Good -
- Mari (7/5): Good short term stay - Great location Pretty old, didn’t feel safe staying there but luckily was only two nights.
- Cert (10/5): I highly recommend this hotel for its location, price and service. - The staff's behavior was exceptional. I would like to express my special thanks to the hotel manager and a lady who works there for their outstanding hospitality and cooperation. Everything was ok in this price
- Faria (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): The place is like a portal for all the surprises of Hollywood. - I love the people especially the manager Mark and Sharon. They made my stay comfortable, just felt like home. I love the shared kitchen and free breakfast and snacks. It’s good when you’re staying mostly outside and will use it primarily for sleeping. The location is perfect for almost everything.
- It’s along the Blvd where the Stars stretches.
- grocery, coffee shops are just right across
- museums, theatre (TCL and Dolby), Mall, are just hundreds of feet away. I saved a lot of money from paying tour because It’s right there in the tour spot.
- Bus and Metro stations are just step away.
I will still choose to stay there if I return. The building is old and there’s no parking.
- Yevgeniya (10/5): Amazing! - It was an exceptional place, with exceptional staff. Mark was particularly helpful and amazing, as well as super friendly. Will recommend this place to all friends! Would be amazing to have some non-instant coffee.
- Shalini (9/5): Superb -
- Georgette (10/5): Great Location, Kind Staff and Peaceful Environment - This is a great hostel that provides excellent customer service, offers a variety of options for breakfast and has in suite bathrooms. The entire hostel is very tidy and neat. The staff is kind and helpful about sharing sights to see as a tourist. Mark is the manager and makes you feel as though he is welcoming you to his own community, as a friend. He is very kind and approachable. Sharon is a staff member whom is also warm and welcoming. The location is great because it is near to everything you may wish to see on Hollywood Blvd; and all within walking distance. This is a great location for solo travelers and those looking for a quiet place to stay while visiting the iconic town/community of Hollywood.
- Wang (9/5): Location is unbeatable. Fantastic value. - Location is unbeatable. All the major attractions on Hollywood Blvd are within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is also just literally across the street from Target groceries cum clothing megachain, CVS, Subway. The Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre, Walk of Fame, El Capita theatre, etc are all just one street away. We literally walked onto the tourist strip after stepping out of the hotel door! This is a very popular street amongst the Hollywood tourists.
The hotel also has a small delightful kitchen and free breakfast (cereals, bread, orange juice, milk, utensils and crockeries, etc). The hotel is quiet and peaceful despite being right next to a busy tourist street. Our room is a twin room ensuite facing the street and it wasn't noisy for us. The aircon is strong enough. No complains for the toilet. The hotel staffs (especially the hotel manager Mark) are very easy going and accommodating and go out of the way to make our stay comfortable. It feels like staying in a family place.
An absolute hidden gem smacked within the hottest strip along Hollywood Blvd! Not much, tbh. The only grouse is there is no on-site parking, but this is stated clearly in the hotel information details already.
- Silvia (8/5): we appreciated the location and price of the hostel. will stay again! mark was great. thanks, mark! - right in the center of hollywood blvd noise levels. sirens/cars
- Angel (7/5): Good -
- Rosas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): Great value for money. Very affordable and great service from host Mark. Won’t find better at this price point. - Great value, great service from the host Lack of blankets but host gave me one as soon as I asked.
Also would prefer more queen bed rooms.
- Williams (10/5): Hostel - I loved how hospitable the manager was. I absolutely loved my stay. I have always loved this hostel as it is my favorite place in Hollywood.
