Guest Reviews
- Alejandro (9/5): - Near the beach
Calmness
Very nice family
Breakfast I would say it could be a bit refurbished, maybe put a table and a chair. But it's fine.
- Dolezalova (10/5): - Nice accommodation close to the beach. Family was friendly, I enjoyed here 😊
- Joanna (9/5): Value for money - Really good budget Guesthouse.
Basic but everything you need.
Good outdoor space to sit and have a drink and watch the birds, monkeys.
Minutes from Tallala beach.
Very good breakfast WiiFi had no Internet connection
- Alicia (9/5): - Amazing location, staff and breakfasts! No hot water but got used to cold showers and this seems normal for the area also not a big deal given the heat. No air conditioning but managed well with the ceiling fan and opening the window at night.
- Alesia (10/5): - It’s amazing and clean place with very sweet people. Very near the ocean
- Lada&Steve (10/5): - Warm hospitality, nice breakfast, great location just 1minute from very nice clean beach. Beer shop right next door.
- eleonora (10/5): - The family was lovely. The location is perfect and the breakfast was delicious and different every morning. I highly recommend this place!!

- Tanja (10/5): Exceptional - I very much enjoyed my time staying here. The family were so accommodating and just lovely. I felt as much at home as one can in a new place. It’s so close to the beach and talalla retreat if you want to take some yoga classes. Would definitely recommend staying here and if I’m ever in talalla again I would stay here!
- Claire (10/5): It lives up to it’s name - It was a great position to nip over and participate in yoga classes , the owners were lovely and breakfast yummy
- Kristyna (10/5): Exceptional - The remote area was close to the beach. It’s nice and quiet place with nice breakfast. Beach is few metres away
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great time staying with Thanuja and her family. They were really friendly and helpful. The house is only a minute or two away from the beach. Breakfast was delicious and we had dinner one night at the beach house too, which was excellent and very reasonably priced. We would love to stay again!
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (10/5): Great place to stay near the beach with very kind owners! Would book again any time :) - A great place to stay! Very kind and loving owners, they make sure that you have all you need. They offer delicious breakfast with fruit and sri lankan dishes. Just a few steps to the beach! Can highly recommend.
- Charlie (5/5): Don’t get your hopes up. Cheap place, close to the beach, but in no way worth the high ratings. - The place is cheap and close to the beach. Has a fan and a mosquito net. Nice balcony overlooking the road to the beach, but beware if you have little kids, cause parts of the balcony have no fencing. Serves breakfast, but very poor. Extremely punctual with the time they served it though. They seemed quite fond of my almost 2 year old daughter and entertained her a little upon arrival. When I mentioned I had a problem with the internet, the lady seemed to want to fix it straight away. I really do not understand all the high ratings this place gets. It’s cheaper than most places in the area, but definitely not worth the high ratings it gets. I’ve stayed in even cheaper places that were cleaner, had better breakfast and more facilitating staff.
The room is very small, hard to find space to open my quite big (86cm) suitcase. The bed is not so comfortable and you feel the bed springs. It’s poorly lit and no bedside light. Especially the bathroom is in need of some good thorough cleaning. The door to the room is partly glass, so anytime a light is switched on or off in the hall, it is noticeably in the room. And the room had a muffy smell.
I’m sure the staff are friendly, but they speak little to no English, are not able to make recommendations or help you out to figure out how to get to places and very hard to communicate with them. They’ll make it seem as though they understand you, by smiling and nodding their head, but they don’t.
The food we were served in no way met my expectations from other reviews. String hoppers with a not so great dahl for me and a fried egg for my daughter and some banana and papaya of which I had mentioned that she doesn’t like it the evening before.
The WiFi was quite poor and slow, and other guests mention they had an issue with the WiFi too the night before. I ended up using my data.
- Lynette (10/5): Exceptional - Near to the beautiful beach. Everything was lovely. The breakfast was super. I wish I could have stayed longer.
- Lynette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Perfect location & a lovely stay - I had a great stay at Paradise Beach House, especially as I discovered I could attend open yoga classes nearby. The room had everything I needed & it was lovely to sit on the balcony watching the world go by at breakfast & dinner. The family were so kind and served delicious food & accommodated my early rising for yoga : ) The beach is just a short walk away & shop nearby too. Great value and a warm welcome.
- John (10/5): Amazing value for money and home comfort. - This guesthouse was amazing value for money. It is just a minute's walk from the beach, and from restaurants. The family who host are amazingly friendly and kind, such good hosts. There are two rooms, upstairs so there is a lovely balcony to have meals on and good privacy. The room is very large and clean, as is the bathroom. There is no hot water, which in this area is not much of an issue.
The breakfast is included and is delicious. On my day of departure, I left at 4am for a National Park safari and the host made breakfast for me to takeaway and even got up to give it to me straight out of the fridge so it was fresh. I chose to have dinner both nights, you can choose the time, and it was amazing home Sri Lankan cooking. I think it is the best meal you will have in the area, and great value. Hot water would be good in cold times of the year, but this is usually not a problem on the south coast.
- Eric (10/5): We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay here! - It is only 200 meters to the lovely beach, which is not at all crowded and is safe for swimming. The hostess is a very good cook and all our dinners and breakfasts were served by her. The ceiling fans does a good job, but for a small extra charge we added AC, which was especially helpful between 6pm and bedtime, when the humidity kicks in. No complaints!
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Lovely, welcoming family. The room was very spacious and I appreciated the balcony for breakfast and evenings reading my book. Location is fantastic for beach and talalla is a way quieter location along the southern coast
Also appreciated the family guarding me from the devilish monkeys at breakfast time 🥰
- Amanda (10/5): Lovely homestay - Very sweet hostess (always ready with a cup of tea or umbrella!), close to the beach, tasty breakfast. I wish I'd been able to stay longer. I was expecting my room to open to the balcony, but there was a shared landing to cross first. Balcony is shared between guests.
- Yves (10/5): amazing place with great hosts - What a great stay. The hosts are super friendly and offered tea when we arrived. the room is spacious and clean. mosquito net is not damaged and the ventilator works well. breakfast and dinner are very delicious and we recommend to buy dinner from the hosts (900lkr/person).
specially to point out is the big balcony with seating area and roof covered. during our stay we had a rainy afternoon and it was perfect to hang out outside.
the house is on a silent location and one of the nicests beaches we visited just 100m away. nearby is a small shop where you can buy water and snacks. it is a detail and we sleept great but the bed could have a protecting layer that you dont feel some of the springs :-)
- Naomi (10/5): Beautiful beach house in Talalla with lovely hosts. - The guest house is in the perfect location, just a couple of minutes to beautiful Talalla beach. The hosts are welcoming and friendly and made a very delicious breakfast and dinner. The room was comfortable and clean and it is great to have a balcony to sit and relax on. Would definitely come back if I was in the area again.
- Lone (8/5): Very good - The location was amazing, close to the nicest end of the beach. The family was really friendly and helpful and treated us really well. The room is nice for the price. The mattress, which is the most important thing to have good rest, really needs to get changed, as you can fill all the springs. A pity, because if it wasn't for this issue we would have given a 10.
- Chris (2/5): Disappointed it was not clean and I was badgered by people outside on the street - It was ok There was no air con as advertised and the light switches were filthy
- Blanka (8/5): Very good - The rooms were clean. The big terrace was Nice and good location. The host was friendly. They had a water problem for 3 days, we couldn't shower always. But They helped with alternatives.
They Saved with food, coffe,
- Blanka (9/5): Superb - Location was good, closed to the Beach. Also the food was very good. The owner is very cariing, she Did so much for our friend, who got sick. She was very kind and took care that WE had everything.
The big terrace was great. The rooms were clean. The host was very friendly. They had a water problem for 3 days 😪.
- Julie (9/5): Nice simple guesthouse 200m from Talalla's beautiful beach - A simple, clean little guesthouse 200 metres from the beach and very helpful hostess. The bed was very comfortable and the mosquito net worked well. With the windows open at night and the fan the night temperature was comfortable too. The shower wasn't hot but in the weather it didn't matter.
I chose a simple Sri Lankan breakfast of freshly made Hoppers, with a little curry, fresh fruit and a pot of tea. I could have chosen Western instead but enjoyed the Sri Lankan.
I would happily stay here again. All fine.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - This family is very authentic and take care of you with their heart. They made sure that we had all we needed and even more. Very delicious food was cooked for us and we really felt like home. The house is 100m from the beach and on the balcony you can just sit for hours enjoying the silence and watch the wild birds and monkeys. The mosquitos are a problem at night if you want to sleep with open windows for fresh air like we do. There is a mosquito net, but it is just not 100% proof.
- Maria (10/5): Very good! - Great location few steps to the beach, very quiet. he hostess is a very hospital and kind woman. Worth its money. Nothing
- Edmond (6/5): - Room very simpel. clean. Shower only cold water
The balcony made a lote better!
Breakfast only toast and cold eggs
- Valentina (8/5): Budget accommodation, good for one night stay - The place is difficult to find, after booking they should send an email with a map to get there. The room is basic but clean. Good size room and bathroom. There is a fan but not a/c and during the night it is quite hot. Only cold water. There is a mosquito net but it is too short so mosquitoes get in the sleeping area. Basic breakfast with bread, jam, bananas and tea. They could provide sri Lankan breakfast if requested. It is possible to use a sort of sun bed provided at the first bar/restaurant we found on the beach just buying something to eat/drink. Beautiful beach and sea. As usual not crowded.
