Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): - This is a great hotel, especially if you want to find calm while in a city of 37 million people. Though you won’t be right in the middle of the action, the joy of this city is that transit is exceptional and so anything you want to see is only a short walk / subway away. To me, the benefit of being able to get back to a quiet retreat after a busy day is priceless.
- Lisa (10/5): - In the business district. Quiet area. 10 minutes walking distance from 2 different metro lines. Room was clean and decent size for Tokyo. Staff very helpful. Good aircon, wifi and dehumidifier was useful as was hard to dry our clothes. Close to a lot of convenience stores and restaurants.
- Lauren (10/5): - Very nice hotel, room was a good size. Only downside it was a little further from sites but very easy access to several stations near by
- Tammy (10/5): - Check in area is calming. Special tea is available at the lobby, staff prepare your choice. I also appreciated the staff recommendations for dinner. They kindly called the restaurants and made the reservations. Breakfast buffet is very delicious and with variety.
- Allan (10/5): - Lovely clean hotel. Staff are super polite and helpful. The hotel is immaculately clean and is located about 10 mins from a few train stations. We spent 10 days here and will definitely be coming back
- John (10/5): - Great location and very clean and organized property.
- Ziyao (10/5): - Unique tea theme hotel where we enjoyed the free tea ceremony at the reception. Love the ambiance and design of the room, also the tea pot and teas provided in the room. Would love to visit again.
- Jason (10/5): - Quiet and well maintained hotel. Not super well located, but it's a great refuge from the city.
- Cathleen (10/5): - Staff was wonderful and the room was impeccably clean and restocked daily. I would stay again in the future.
- Anil (10/5): - Amazing stay and sleep, service exceptional
- Peter (10/5): - Fabulous little boutique hotel in Shimbashi area which surprisingly has a lot to offer. Pretty much everything was lovely there except a couple weird things like no sink in bathroom so had to wash your teeth in sink in kitchenette. Other than that loved it
- Jixiao (10/5): - Very Clean and comfortable hotel to stay at, nice environment and not too far from the shinbashi subway station.
- MJ (10/5): - Had a lovely time at the hotel! The room was very clean and neat and had a lot of amenities, and the luggage I had sent several days before arriving was already in the room when I checked in. They were also very quick to reply to an inquiry I had sent prior to check in. We also enjoyed the tea they serve at the reception counter in the morning and the afternoon. The hotel is also near several subway stations.
- Susan (10/5): - Room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious! The train station was a few blocks away, same with subway. Walking distance to Tsujiki Fish Market.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Smaller boutique-type hotel that allowed us to relax from the hustle and bustle like other hotels. The rooms were nicely appointed, serene and very clean. Enjoyed the variety of teas with tea set and Japanese snacks. Breakfast was sufficient and nicely arranged with fresh baked pastries. The front desk and restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful. We would stay again!
- Vanessa (10/5): - Clean, lovely aesthetic, good breakfast buffet. Very quiet and complimentary tea varieties.
- Karen (10/5): - Fantastic boutique hotel. Easy taxi ride from Monorail station fro Haneda Airport
Found the double room to be spacious with the unique design. Hotel is modern and spotless and housekeeping very thorough.
Check in is on level 2 of building. Staff very very helpful. Hotel volunteered to hold my suitcase for a few days while away to Kawaguchiko/ Mt Fuji area… until my return visit to hotel.
- Lea (10/5): - The room was very clean and staff was nice. We loved the Hotel's tea products and having tea and coffee available in our room.
The area ist quiet, but only a few minutes walk away, there's shimashi station and the surrounding area which is bustling and offers great food options.
- Mahisha (10/5): - Beautiful hotel and wonderful service from staff. Would stay here again. A slight walk from the station but we did not mind this. Clean rooms and loved the tea ceremony!
- Samantha (10/5): Fantastic - Excellent. We wish we had stayed here on the 2nd leg of our trip when we returned to Tokyo.
The staff are kind and courteous. The room is reasonably sized and comfortable. The breakfast buffet may not be to all tastes, but we thoroughly enjoyed the options given. They also helped us sort a taxi when there were some issues with our tains for onwards travel. Would certainly recommend to all. Location is in a quiet area which we found perfect for accessing the rest of the city.
- Jake (10/5): - Perfect.
- Nicola (10/5): - Excellent breakfast, generous amenities, great location. Would definitely book again.
- SABRINA (10/5): First time in Tokyo - Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The service is excellent and the room is very well laid out has everything you need and then some. Felt very pampered instead of just provided for. The matcha tea they hand-make for you in the morning and afternoon if you like is such a nice touch. I highly recommend this hotel. We would book here again for sure.
- Hanis (10/5): - My stay here was beyond my own expectations. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed my daily dose of matcha in the morning. Room was clean when we arrived and housekeeping did a great job at maintaining the cleanliness of the general hotel in general. Good Job to the Hotel Staff for making my stay a pleasant experience. All the best to all!
- Justin (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay in a quiet part of Tokyo. We enjoyed the daily Tea Service and the breakfast was delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place, poor beds - Great location, good service and very clean.
The only bad thing is the bed thats hard as a rock. I believe this is the hardest bed I ever slept on.
- Trevor (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and very very accommodating for us. We will definitely want to use this hotel again when we come back to Japan.
- Tyler (10/5): - Beautiful hotel immaculately clean. Rooms were very comfortablenall and reasonably spacious.breakfast also great
- Kathy Duyen (8/5): - I love the idea of a tea themed hotel and it was well executed here. Every day in the morning and afternoons, there is a free tea service with matcha and tea and their restaurant downstairs is also tea themed. Everything was absolutely delicious. I prefer their normal food to their breakfast buffet. Their seafood curry was the absolute best. I wasn't able to try their chocolate black tea parfait but I hope to stay again to try it next time. The staff who checked me in was extremely nice and I had some items shipped to the hotel (my luggage and a package) and he was very kind in having them sent to my room. The only thing that I didn't like was the mattress; it is extremely firm. I read some reviews and saw that people did mention this and that they asked for a mattress topper. I did ask the second night but it was a thin quilt that didn't help much. Overall, I loved the hotel but wish they changed to softer matresses.
- Ramsey (10/5): - We absolutely loved this hotel! It is located in a quiet and peaceful area, but is less than 10 minutes from Shimbashi station which is well connected to all other major stations in Tokyo.
The staff at the hotel were helpful, kind and welcoming and spoke good English.
The hotel itself was calm, beautifully decorated and fairly spacious for a hotel in Tokyo. We loved our room and found it a great place to relax after a long day exploring the city. We hope to stay here again on our next visit!
- James (10/5): - Was a nice convenient place near Tokyo Tower and Shimbashi station. Easy to go everywhere and rooms were nice. Was a great value and would go there again in a heartbeat.
- Lawrence (10/5): - Spotless clean! superb customer service!
- Andrew (10/5): - The hotel was really lovely, small and quiet with an excellent room and breakfast area. Close enough to trains and an easy walk to Ginza and the Palace.
- Natalia (10/5): - Perfect quiet place to stay. Very nice staff! And free matcha served every day!
- Qing (10/5): - This modern, superbly maintained hotel has a minimalist interior design. It is centrally located yet in a tranquil neighborhood. The staff and service are excellent, paying attention to details. The Japanese-style breakfast and afternoon tea are wonderful.
The room size is somewhat small. Suited for single travelers or couples with not too many large suitcases.
- Margaret (10/5): - Tea themed modern hotel in Shimbashi accessible to two stations via 7-9 minute walk. We really appreciated the spaciousness of our corner room. The smart toilet was the best! Breakfast was a mix of western and Japanese dishes. Tea service was also a nice touch. Overall, a quiet zen oasis in the midst of busy Tokyo.
- Jared (10/5): - Amazing experience!
- Ali (10/5): - Great hotel. Excellent location. Staff very professional and polite.
- Serena Mae (10/5): - Loved the matcha theme, room layout, and tea service!!! The room was very comfortable and beautiful. I was also able to borrow a portable weighing scale for weighing my luggage which was helpful!
- Paulo (10/5): - very nice and new!
- Tanushree (10/5): - Very clean hotel and polite staff. Rooms small.
- Robert (10/5): - Second time staying here and it’s still amazing. Highly recommend it!
- Yan (10/5): - The hotel is very clean and staff is very pleasant. My daughter and I truly enjoyed our 2 nights stay there. We especially love the mocha theme of the hotel.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Staff was amazing. Our room was so clean.
- Briana (10/5): - One of my favorite stays in Tokyo so far! It was a very fresh feeling staying at this hotel. The staff was nice and we had a free tea service with our stay at certain hours. Overall, loved staying at this hotel! Highly recommend!
- Motusaga (10/5): - Very clean. Friendly staff
- Bo (10/5): - This accommodation was perfect. While there were several reviews mentioning the distance from the station, it wasn’t an issue for me. I even walked to Azabudai Hills 😄. The hotel was very clean, and I had no concerns about noise or odors. The elevator was a bit small though. I also really enjoyed the tea service 💚. The gentleman with glasses was especially kind, which truly impressed me. I even ran into him on a nearby street, and he greeted me so warmly that I was very surprised! If you’re planning a trip to Tokyo, I highly recommend this place!
- A (10/5): - Authentic Japanese hotel with some Western touches.
- Nataliya (10/5): - Really nice hotel, close to the subway and Ginza area. The staff were so sweet. I would stay here again if I come back to Tokyo.
- Adrienne (10/5): - Hotel was great, very clean, excellent amenities. Close to subway.
- Suleiman (10/5): - Decently sized room, very clean. Staff polite and professional. Hotel well-located.
- Leah (10/5): - A great hotel! Very clean and a very quiet area! Slept well every night. Close to many stations, so it was easy to go out and abouts around the city.
- Woosuk (10/5): - I really loved the hotel! Nice staff and a clean room.
- Karen (10/5): - amazing and cozy
- David (10/5): - Really great hotel. Why is it considered 3 stars…
- Ian (10/5): Clean and comfy hotel in a good location - Clean and comfortable hotel. Reception were friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size for Tokyo (if you’re from the UK, it’s slightly smaller than a Premier Inn room). The bed has a firm mattress which I found really comfortable. You have tea making facilities, a fridge and a good selection of toiletries. You also get pyjamas and slippers to use. The room was spotless and clean.
The breakfast was a mixture of European and Asian food. The selection wasn’t massive but there is enough to choose from and all of it is well made and presented. The staff who work in the restaurant are very friendly too.
The locations is good. There are a couple of convenience stores within 2 mins walk and Simbashi Station is around 10 mins walk and gives you access to lots of train lines to explore Tokyo.
- Jose (10/5): - This is a new facility well designed
- CURTIS (10/5): - Really a great quiet property. Restaurant in mini-lobby is FANTASTIC
- Abby (10/5): - The hotel is very clean to every corner. Highly recommend.
- Mariah (10/5): - Hotel was located walking distance to several trains (~10 min), Tokyo Tower and the Ginza shopping district. Hotel was light & bright with the room a good size (we had a standard Queen room) & hood value for money compared to previous accom we had in Shinjuku. There was also complimentary matcha / tea in the morning & the afternoon, which was an added bonus.
- Bryan (10/5): - After a long travel day, it was so nice to be greeted by the friendly staff at the hotel even though it was much later than we planned to get there. The privacy and quiet of the sleeping quarters were excellent. I could hardly tell anyone else was there except in the lobby. I know Bidets are not exclusive to Japan, but wow are they fancy and make you inclined to try it out. Thank you for the great stay and intro to a cleaner, ahem, body part.
- Vina (10/5): - Service staff was very friendly, and there are free tea tasting available in the lobby everyday. The property seems new. The only downside is the property is a bit far from the train station , there is no coin laundry available on-site and the room is small.
- misha (10/5): - We stayed here on our last night before heading back to the airport, the location is a bit far from the nicer spots in tokyo but if you want chic, clean, boutique hotel close to shinbasu area , I liked that its a 20 min walk to ginza which has the best shops and restaurants in my opinion. The matcha and matcha icecream is amazing, if you stay here make sure to visit the cafe!
- Aaron Yu Ching (10/5): Get the corner deluxe room! - Well deserved travel award. The hotel experience was perfect for me and my family. I wished I could have stayed longer! I didn’t get to try the breakfast, but strongly recommend the tea time at the front desk. There are convenient stores within 5 minutes of walking as well as a 24 hr laundromat. I flew into HND airport and the train ride on the red line was under 40 minutes to Daimon station. It’s a 10 minute walk. If you got luggage’s and stroller, take a taxi. The quiet neighborhood of Minato is worth a stroll however, given good weather
- Ali (10/5): - Excellent hotel. Very quaint and clean. Staff were very friendly. Great neighborhood.
- Finley (10/5): - This is the best place to stay in Tokyo, hands-down. Beautiful and simple interior, great location, helpful staff. Price outstanding. Highly recommend.
Rooms are on the small side, but they were well designed.
- GERARD (10/5): - Gorgeous, state of the art room. A bigger softer pillow would have been nice but that may well just be a cultural difference. I bet if I had asked one would have been provided.
- Nathaniel (10/5): - This hotel is all about Ocha! Free tea when you stay there is served at the check in counter. Awesome spacious room with a long and deep tub. Great Japanese style furnishings. Only thing to consider is that the train stations are somewhat far away if you plan on walking. Taxi from hotel to station was 500-800 Yen. Would definitely stay here again
- George (10/5): Hidden Gem - Great hidden gem away from the busy area of Shinbashi
- Tiffany (10/5): - This hotel is so modern and clean. The staff were wonderful and so helpful with anything we needed. The breakfast buffet is a must if you stay here. The food was delicious every morning
- Noel (10/5): Approved - I would recommend and stay here again.
- David (10/5): - Would stay again! The facility is top notch and one of the biggest rooms. It is in a less crowded area so you can avoid crowds but a walkable distance to subway stations. The staff were perfect. If I had one minor critique it would be I wish there was joining beds that were not so firm.
- Bran (10/5): - Clean and nice environment. Very convenient to all train stations. I really love this hotel. Thank you hotel 1899 tokyo! Love your teas too lol
- JOEL (10/5): - 10/10
- Andrea (10/5): - Really loved how clean and serene my stay was here. The matcha service provided was so calming, I definitely recommend trying it. The room was super cute, but was a bit small (but that’s kind of expected for a Tokyo hotel room).
- Winnie (10/5): - It’s amazingly clean and packed with all amenities, especially impressed by the matcha/tea service, we definitely enjoyed the moments of silence with matcha when taking a break between visiting places. Location is also so nice, not right in the middle of busy streets while convenient and close to metro station. Would love to stay there again next time when coming to Tokyo again.
- Andy (10/5): - A very clean and pleasant place, plenty of amenities to use, really enjoyed my stay here, would highly recommend!
- Jungwon (10/5): - Just impeccable! If you want a boutique hotel experience at a reasonable price, highly recommended! I did not mind the extra steps to the subway station at all.
- ning (10/5): - Cleanliness. Friendly staff. Room condition. Breakfast.
- Xiao (10/5): - Loved our stay at 1899. Room was super spacious for Japanese standards and the location was super convenient, walking distance to various stations/subway lines. Would recommend and would stay here again for our next Tokyo visit!
- Philip (10/5): - .
- Elena (10/5): - Just a 10 min walk from Shimbashi Station, this cute, clean and safe boutique hotel is perfect for the exploring the city. I loved the daily tea service to start my day on the right foot. The room was cozy, but perfect for one person with luggage and alot of shopping bags.
- Peter (10/5): - Very clean new place. We where well taken care of
- Angel (10/5): - Excellent
- Hyunyoung (10/5): - My partner and I enjoyed staying at Hotel 1899.
We particularly loved how zen vibes this hotel gave us, that includes free matcha tea service in the morning!
The staff were lovely, also massive shout out to the cleaning staff, we were able to enjoy the clean room after a long day! They stocked up with the full shower kit, fresh towels, PJs and many more every single day.
Thank you Hotel 1899 team!
- Angel (10/5): - Excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Good location and great breakfast
- Jae Jin (10/5): - Cleanest hotel I ever stayed.
Best !!!!!!!
- Lavina (10/5): - Outstanding customer service and in an excellent location close to multiple train lines. Very easy to walk to many areas and attractions. Really enjoyed the green and matcha tea, water and snacks.
- Paul (10/5): - clean, good condition hotel. excellent shower. good service and great value.
- Mark (10/5): - Very modern but with a nice Japanese feel and reasonable size room. Nice lighting system lots of convenient plugs etc Nice breakfast restaurant.

- Shane (10/5): - This was a great place to stay with multiple train stations within walking distance. Outstanding staff and facilities.
- Emery (10/5): - We loved our stay at Hotel 1899! The staff were very friendly, the room was beautiful and well equipped, and the area the hotel was in was quite but also near lively streets lined with many food options. Would stay here again and recommend to others!
- Louise Patricia (10/5): - We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was just so lovely. The hotel offer a very lovely tea service for its guests both in the morning and evening of each nights stay at the hotel. The staff were very helpful and polite. Easy to check in and out and the room was lovely and from what we had heard about rooms in tokyo being small, the room we had enough space for us both. I'd really recommend coming here to anyone who hasn't been to Tokyo before. Not too far to walk to the subway too and lots of really lovely places to eat and great views of the tower too! Will definitely be back!
- Sailaja (10/5): Loved it. Would stay again. - Excellent place to stay and would stay here again if we visit Tokyo. Very conveniently located to multiple subway line stations. Loved the tea service each day. Best hotel shower. Nice size room. Everyone was very nice. Quiet neighborhood. Lots of restaurants close by. Loved choice of pillow types. Great bed.
- Jamie (8/5): - Nice
- Edmund (10/5): - It is clean and the environment is quiet. several convenience stores nearby. I like this hotel and enjoyable.
- Ying-Ling (10/5): Good atmosphere - The space consider not small in Tokyo. Overall ambience is good, bright, and clean. I like the Tea session at lobby. Location is slightly a distance to Shimbashi mrt.
- Spencer Isaac (10/5): - We loved the tea experience and very helpful staff.
