Guest Reviews
- Chris (6/5): - Hot inside the room
- richard (10/5): - Amazing space, responsive property owner.
- richard (10/5): - Amazing service.
- Stephen (10/5): - Most likely the most quiet place I've stayed. The room is spacious and the bed firm and comfortable. I just stayed for the night though would return for any jobs in the area. Parking is not a problem.
- Samuel (4/5): - No air conditioning and no tv. The bed is shaking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice landlord, good stay.
- Asif (6/5): - Very economical and room it self was cozy
- Kexin (10/5): - The room is very large and the landlord is nice 😂
- marjan (2/5): - Cooking was not allowed during my friend’s stay. The place was not clean, and the overall atmosphere was very unpleasant
- Muhammad (2/5): - As another reviews mentions, the place is infested with bed bugs. If you dont know how bad this is, google it. You will need to be quarantined and fumigate anywhere you come into contact with furniture after. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Place smells bad, and toilets are dirty.
- Modupe (10/5): - Nice and quiet environment I love the room 😍
- Akasha Cecilia (2/5): - The bed was hard and I didn't sleep at all because I didn't feel comfortable in the house at all.
- Maylene (2/5): - The property manager/staff is very inconsiderate
- Maggie Qinqin (4/5): - The wall-mounted panels, which appeared to be intended for noise cancellation, were purely decorative and provided no noticeable sound reduction. Noise from the upper level was clearly audible throughout the stay, even at midnight. Additionally, parking was limited, and the situation was further impacted by the fact that the owner sleeps on the property, occupying one of the already scarce parking spots, which further reduced availability for guests.
- jenelle (10/5): - Nice quiet neighborhood
- Inas (10/5): - Quiet clean and cheap for Toronto , close to transportation too
- Guiovanni (8/5): - Bien, para una estancia corta.
- Linda (10/5): - It was very easy, no problems checking. It was just what I needed, a quick get away from the world for some much needed R&R.
- Talia (10/5): - Good simple room to lay your head for a night.
- Kevin (6/5): - When I Indicated to the Landlord that one of the Tenants was being Very NOISY, he Spoke with her Immediately, and when she Refused to Comply, he Kindly Asked her to Leave!
I was able to Wash and Dry my Clothes at a Reasonable Price.
The Landlord Needs to Do the Following concerning the Noise:
1. Softer Slippers
2. Put a Sign stating: Tenants are to Walk Softly, and. Not Run Up and Down the Stairs
3. Carpet the Stairwell. It's Wooden and therefore Makes Plenty Noise when walking or Running on it.
- Anthony (8/5): - so far so good
clean and safe
I will book again if I have travel in future
- Iman (2/5): - We booked a room at Markham, Toronto, Ontario. After driving for approximately five hours, we arrived at the specified address and contacted the landlord. To our dismay, he informed us that they were fully booked and only had one room left in the basement. Despite my request to inspect and stay in the basement room, he denied us and forced us to relocate to another address.
The alternative property was located at Scarborough, which is known to be a dangerous area in Toronto. With no other available accommodations, we reluctantly accepted the change.
The room and the bed sheets were dirty, the driveway was blocked, the front door left open which was not secured, the noise levels were unbearable with fighting, running, and screaming occurring throughout the night.
So, my wife was terrified, crying the entire night, and neither of us were able to sleep.
I will write an official complaint letter to the Expedia CA’s customer service to address this issue and follow up with them to pay more attention to these kinds of landlords.
- Saeid (2/5): - The property owner is purposely deceitful. He advertises the the Markham address but he has no rooms available. The actual address is 1 Purcell is Scarborough. Those in Toronto know how unsafe Scarborough could be. I will be writing an official complaint letter to Expedia.
- Denver (2/5): - Untidy
- KWESI (2/5): did not check-in - did not check-in
- Azdashir (2/5): - Bad place
- Biju (6/5): - Average
- Prabh (10/5): - Very clean
- Steph (2/5): - The bed in our room was infested with bed bugs. I have bites all over me and all of our stuff had to be bagged and quarantined to be treated for bed bugs.
- Dayna (2/5): - My experience at this Airbnb was extremely disappointing. They promised to keep the door unlocked for us but ended up locking us out without providing a key, and then got mad that we had to knock on the door. The place was filthy with cobwebs and dust in every corner. The bed and pillows were outrageously uncomfortable, we felt the floor was more ideal for sleeping. The shared bathroom was in terrible condition, and the thin walls allowed us to hear other guests snoring as if they were in the same room. To top it off, the owner was incredibly rude. The room itself smelled like a campfire had been lit inside. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
- Ekin (8/5): - It is a quiet and safe space to spend the night. There are cameras in the common areas so you don't have to worry who enters your room. It is not perfectly clean but considering the price it was a pleasant stay.
- Dennis (4/5): - The room is ok but the washroom is gross.
- Mahima (4/5): - Extremely far away from university and very poor access to transport
- Roger (8/5): - Cool and quiet place
- Seville (4/5): - quiet
- Maleck (10/5): - It’s a nice cozy place to stay in!
Definitely recommend.
- atoosa (2/5): - very basic and expensive
- Joseph (10/5): - Tranquil living area and good for walking.
- Joseph (10/5): - Cost effective for a travel in Toronro city.
- Peter (8/5): - Owner was seems nice but blanket in room was thin so you should bring your own blankets. The queen sized bed was alright not the best but not the worst.
- Yi (10/5): - 这处住所非常好,外出方便,周边设施齐全
- Florence (10/5): - We loved our stay at this property.
- BHAVYA (2/5): - It’s like living in a hunted house
- Aravind (8/5): - A good place to stay for a short stay.
- SHUN (10/5): - Thomas was very helpful. The property is not new, but very clean and located near everything.
- Janice Anna (10/5): - PROVIDED TOWELS
- Courtney (2/5): - Floor was dirty. Not sure if bed linen had even been changed
- Aida (10/5): - I like that the contact person of Home Base lives in the same house. Thomas Chen is nice and friendly. There is an atmosphere of being part of family and not just a guest.
- Scott (10/5): - Thomas is very nice and the house is very clean and the room was a good size. I recommend exploring as the price for there rooms is budget friendly.
- Maily (10/5): - Really easy check-in and the owner was nice.
- Parmis (2/5): - Very bad
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice home to stay in - Really nice and peaceful neighbourhood. The room and bed was ok and the host was helpful. Only thing that bothered me was that the walls were so thin I could hear the next door guy snoring. Also, some of the guests were talking beyond midnight when I wanted to sleep already. Someone started playing pianomusic from their phone at 3 am and played it until 7 am. I don't understand why the host didn't do anything about it.
- mohamadreza (2/5): - Very bad
- Joanne (10/5): - Friendly homeowner
- Spencer F (8/5): - This place is very, very basic, but it’s clean and I found the (very firm) bed quite comfortable. There was no TV, nor towels. The shared bathroom was across the hall. Given its modest price, though, I was happy enough with my stay.
- Youngsoon (2/5): - It wasn't the house I originally booked. The host called and said that the house was overbooked and told me to come to another house. It was very dirty and the bed was too old.
There was a lot of trash in the drawers, and I took pictures of them all.
you should give me credit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): First time in Canada was a pleasant stay! - Owner was very nice and the room was cozy! Bed felt great, bathroom was clean, and the foyer always smelled like someone was cooking something delicious haha.
- JUNJIE (10/5): - Great home owner
- Jashanpreet (8/5): - Privacy
- zachary (10/5): - No issues, worthy the price.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming.
- Reyvierick Larry (4/5): - Quiet but owner is strict. I dont feel comfortable..
- Sameer (10/5): - It is quiet and clean.
- Antonia (10/5): - Affordable and very nice staff
- Jiani (10/5): - Quiet and clean
- Hossein (8/5): - Value for money. A room in a large house. Thanks.
- Elleisha (10/5): - It’s a cool place. I loved it.
- Mohammad (10/5): - Everything was good.
- Andres (6/5): - Great host, nice bedroom
- Sanjay Kumar (2/5): - It was an horrible experience I had ever in my life. This is just an House and One person is staying in same building to manage the rooms. He was quite frustrating person I hope. He has installed 10~15 CCTV cameras in one floor still he keeps on physically monitoring every second about activities. Rooms are very dirty and bathrooms are on shared basis (which he did not mentioned on website) and very cramp and very dirty. No handwash/toilet paper/towels/paper napkin etc. No house keeping/cleaning including lobbies etc. Horror House after dark as he switch off all the lights at all the times even in night. So very dangerous for everyone
at night to get enter in the house or to operate the bathroom at night hours etc as no light has been permitted.
- Sara (10/5): - The host was really kind and the place was quiet.
- Dolly (6/5): - The house was easy to find on google maps. The neighbourhood seemed nice and quiet.
- Mike001 (2/5): - Room was very cold heat wasn’t working properly during snow fall, restrooms have no hangers for towels, light was not working we stayed in dark, owner is sucks, we checked out 1day earlier our checkout date and stayed another nice hotel, and paid again extra for night and owner refused us to make refund. Don’t go there its crap old haunted house.
- Dave (2/5): DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE LOW COST ROOM AVAILABLE. - DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE THE PRICE QUOTED BY THE HOTELS.COM. CHECK WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE COST. IF YOU GO AGAINST HIS MADE UP RULES, HE WILL THREATEN YOU AND READY TO CALL THE POLICE. HE ENJOYS ACCEPTING CASH SO THAT HE DOSE'T HAVE TO REPORT INCOME.FILTHY HOUSE.I HOPE HOTELS .COM WON'T ADVERTISE THIS PROPERTY FOR EVER.THIS GUY HAS ANOTHER PROPERTY ADVERTISED ON HOTELS.COM WITH THE SAME SITUATION.HE KNOWS EVERY
THING WHAT IS GOING ON, MAY BE HE HAS CAMERAS ALL OVER,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice place to stay.Definitely I would recommend it.
- Adrew (8/5): A homely place to stay for the night - Overall, it was good: simple decor, spacious, and welcoming! I like the "shoes off" rule as it kept the premises dirt-free. I liked the room that I stayed in. Again, decor was simple, but very inviting. It smelled good, the bed was comfortable and if not for the table mirror, the room would have otherwise been spotless. Wi-Fi was slow, but was not an issue. To make the stay even better, I would recommend installing sun-blocking curtains to allow guests to sleep in, especially in the summer. I would also recommend that the entrance area be tidied up and maintained as it gives a bad impression to guests. Other than that, keep up the good work!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Even the Devil isn't this inhospitable in Hell. - He cancelled on me last minute and lied. VERY uncourteous. Needs to be punished by Hotels.com. I DEMAND compensation for my troubles. I was left without a place to sleep or use the bathroom while I was traveling to Markham
- Winnifred (8/5): First experience in B&B accommodations - Our stay was comfortable and friendly and I would return again. However, this property was presented as B&B so I expected certain amenities. Towels/facecloths were not provided (our host gave us a couple) there was no breakfast offered. Cooking was not permitted. We had a limited amount of dishes but no cups/mugs. Towels or paper towels were not provided in the wash room. Things I would have expected or be prompted to bring when making the reservation. Our host was very pleasant and most helpful and overall we had a very pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - PROPERTY WAS VERY QUITE AND MORE COMFORTABLE BEDS
I RECOMEND
- Umer (10/5): - Great hotel, will definitely recommend to friends! Nice and quiet room, modern bathroom, strong fast Wi-Fi, and very polite & helpful onwer.
- D (2/5): - I personally didn’t like anything about this property. Found a few insects crawling under the bed and I was not happy. Also he comes with rules as if he’s your parent as if I did not just pay to stay for a few night. Never will I book this property again. I’m exasperated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Limited kitchen privledges - no cooking on a stove, microwave ok to heat food
good as basic clean safe place to sleep
- Verified traveler (2/5): Does not met the offer/features in the Ad - The owner of the property was not friendly. He told me to park my car on the street till 11pm. we are not even allowed to cook in the kitchen. The place smell and It's not good and not comfortable to stay.
- John (8/5): comfortable and exceptional - my stay was comfortable and the service was particularly excepyionable as I was unable to locate the house at night.
- Mozhgan (10/5): - The host was very kind and helpful, the place was clean and quiet . I enjoyed alot
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had to be at the Markam stouffville hospital for 8:30am and as we live 3 hours north, we decided to stay at this property the night before. We arrived at 10pm and the check in was great. He gave us a quick tour of the facilities. The room was huge and very clean. I was able to put my required ice packs for my surgery in the freezer and bathroom facilities were easy access to our room. Absolutley served our needs for a place to sleep and shower. It was only a 15 minute drive to the hospital which was fantastic. The only negative comment was the bed itself. It was only a box spring with no actual mattress. If this property would provide better beds, it would be hard to beat!
Mark & Eleanor
- SungEun (8/5): Good overall, little disappointed in cleaniess - The host was helpful to stay in room comfortably. One thing that was not satisfied was cleaniess of the room. The bed sheets were not changed so we found there are lots of hair on the pillow and head area of the bed. We told this point to the host, and he said sorry and changed to the new sheet immediately. It would be more greatful if the sheets were changed before we use the room, but except that point, there was no big issue to stay one night there.
- Don (10/5): Nice place to stay. - The place was plain and simple, easy parking, needs bedsheet top part but otherwise very acceptable.
- KK (10/5): - sparkling clean, quiet and cosy, and bathroom is also very tidy, great place to enjoy private living, bedroom is spacious, bright.
- Muhammad (10/5): - Very comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The host is a kind wonderful person very helpful and the accommodations are excellent. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Ended up finding another hotel at 10 pm in the night. Here is why:
1. The bedsheets were not changed ( found hair on them). Owner acknowledged (was quite nonchalant about it) and proceeded to change sheets. Turns out he did not have another set, but used the flat sheet to make do. Owner refused to refund payment and got a bit aggressive that made me feel unsafe. Hotels.com stepped in and helped resolve the issue. Decided to move out immediately.
2. Parking situation is a nightmare - There is a 2 car garage and 3 cars parked tightly behind it. The owner asked me what time I needed to leave such that I park accordingly. Had to move other cars to get out from the place.
Although this price is difficult to beat, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, hassle free stay I'd definitely recommend paying a little more and finding some other place in the vicinity. Plenty of other options to choose from.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonably priced stay - Great place to stay if you need a quick fair priced sleep in the area. I just wish parking was a bit more organized, considering care-free parking was important to me. There are two spots in garage, and 3 on the driveway - only remaining parking spot one evening was blocking another car in the morning, so I had to wake up earlier than planned. Shared bathrooms. Smoke detector light was bothering me at night so I covered it. Under bed and closet looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in months, but otherwise sufficiently clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Parking facility is limited and troublesome. Bed was dusty. Lack of hand towel in washroom. Staff assistance was ok.
- Thomas (4/5): Disapointed - Room and shower facilities beautiful and clean. We arrived late and with no parking, parked on the grass. There was no sign to say not to but were charged a large "fine" for the "damage". The advertising should include that there are no cups, tea, coffee or basic amenities normally expected in a kitchen apart from hot water and a microwave. Also for those arriving late from a 30-hour flight the shower is not available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - clean and comfortable place. Very suitable for short time stay
