Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was under construction and the owners failed to mention that. So we had to cancel last minute since we couldn't even stay there due to the construction.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The most cozy place to stay before your train to Machu Picchu. The rooms were so comfortable with lots of blankets as it was -1 the night we stayed. Very clean. The elderly couple were so sweet and hospitable. They served us lovely lunch and eat breakfast and walked us to the station at 6am to make sure we got there ok. Their son Isaac arranged a driver named Diego for us for our time there who was so friendly and helpful. Isaac then met us in Machu Picchu to assist us with our entrance and bus tickets. The entire experience was so wonderful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I stayed at La Olla Peruana because I had a late train returning from Machu Pichu to Poroy, and didn't want to take a late night bus into Cusco. Don Issac came over to the station and picked me up, and was a very gracious host. He made sure that I had everything that I needed and even escorted me into Cusco the next day. The hotel itself is rustic yet charming, but the hosts are the main attraction. I don't think you can find nicer or more genuine people than Don Issac and his wife, which to me is one of the reasons to visit Peru, To not just know the tourist sites, but to know the people. If you want to know the real Peru, stay here.
- JuanFlores (10/5): - The elderly couple were great at providing a comfortable experience. I sat down with the gentleman and shared two beers with as we spoke about life, family, and the world in general. They went out of there way to make you feel like family. The couple miss their children as they have moved away and that the visitors who stay are like “our children.” That’s exactly how they treat you like family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Benedict and his family pulled out every hospitality to ensure we had a pleasant trip. Despite having no Spanish language in our repertoire, we were welcomed and accommodated to feel like family. Their English speaking son was always a phone call away to help with any questions, and he even met us and gave us a quick tour to the city of Machu Picchu!!! This quaint little country home was so full of heart and fresh air. I would book another trip just to relax in their home again.
- Isaac (10/5): Great hosts and great location - Our stay was amazing! My girlfriend and I felt right at home and the hosts were very kind and thoughtful, even after we left. Would definitely recommend stopping here on your way to Machu Picchu
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a great experience in Poroy. Isaac provides quick help and communication and his parents were the sweetest hosts. Snugly tucked in right behind the train station, La Place Peruana was so convenient for our early morning train ride to Machu Picchu. Highly recommend the experience.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Very nice and helpful owners. Met me outside the train station when returning from Machu Pichu, and their son, helped me purchase tickets on arrival at Machu Pichu. Very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved staying at this facility while visiting the area. It is across from the train station, making it very convenient. I especially enjoyed the owners; they are special people who look after you. The gentleman escorted us to the train station in the early morning and was there with a flashlight to escort us back to the facility after arriving by training in the evening. Very sweet people!!!
- Tim (10/5): - This was just the hotel we needed for a flying visit to Machu Picchu. From Cusco airport, the hotel arranged the shuttle to the hotel. The hosts welcome you like family to their authentic experience of Peru. The meals are sizable and very tasty, and the train station at Poroy for the ride up the mountain a stone's throw away. The bathroom is shared with other visitors, but given the smallness of the hotel, this was not a problem. An excellent experience.
- Derek (10/5): - This place was awesome! Next door to the train station which made the trip a lot easier. The best part was the owners, really kind ppl and great cooks! The views are nice, outdoor setting. The town of poroy is awesome too, the owners took us on a tour and introduced us to their friends. Really neat experience and I will be going back again! It gets really cold in poroy so come dressed for the winter. Thanks for everything guys!
- Cynthia (10/5): Todo estuvo maravilloso
perfect!
Recomendable 100%
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is 3 min walk away from the poroy train station. Owner's son was in contact with me for arrival updates & directions/taxi service. I was sick when I arrived at the hotel. The owner "Issac" and his wife treated me like a family, they prepared Chicken soup for me to feel better. They also provided breakfast early morning around 5am & walked with me to the station. Knowing my sick condition, owner was with me at the station until I had my tickets in hand. The hotel room is well maintained , neat & clean bathroom (it's a compact bathroom, common for other guests). Overall I give a 5 star because of the hospitality & the service offered for the price of the hotel. It is definitely recommend if anyone wanted to stay close to the station
