- YONCA (8/5): - The hotel’s location and architecture fully met all my expectations. The staff were very warm and helpful, and we were also very pleased with the hotel’s restaurant.
The only suggestion would be to have a side window in the attic floor rooms, even a small one would make a big difference.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you.
- kim (9/5): gorgeous - a real treat - the village and river location was just beautiful, and the terrace fabulous open plan bathroom - bit weird for my preference (sperate loo tho!)
- Mireya (10/5): Magical - I liked everything about this hotel! The hotel and rooms are gorgeous! My room had a breathtaking view to the river and the vineyards, simply magical. I like everything

Check - in.

- Dorothy (9/5): Loved this restored building fabulous hotel on the river Ebro - The location was beautiful. On the river Ebro with a walk next to the hotel. The village was old and restored
Lots of vineyards and tasting opportunities near
We loved it Restaurant was classy and all staff attentive m. Food was too rich and spoilt by greasy sauce. For example a Wonderful salad with nuts and
Foie gras was drowned in a mustard dressing. a fish dish had a slimy puree oozing oil. Could have been fabulous but spoilt.

- Paulo (6/5): Estadia razoável. - Restaurante e equipa do mesmo.
Boa comida.
- Shay Thieberg (9/5): -
- Raghav (1/5): This should not be Autograph Collection. - Not much to like, it is in a quaint town by the river but that's about it. The room design is most average and one room was much smaller than the other. The hotel design is nothing exciting as well.
The staff was not willing to make some modifications to food for vegetarians and while the waiters were helpful they were incompetent - my friends asked them to warm two microwavable meals and serve them on the table which they did but they put two curries in the same bowl...shockingly stupid.
The food that was on the menu was prepared average - bad. The ribs croquettes were okay but bland and the cod was undercooked and unseasoned. When confronted the waiter simply said "this is how the preparation is" - it isn't.
Breakfast was okay.
No bellhop or parking (even free) at this price tag.
Overall - badly made and poorly run.
- Marian (8/5): Good Hotel in Lovely village - Lovely hotel in great village. Lovely soft bed. Other than breakfast l really wouldn’t fault. Breakfast was good but maybe not as good as everything else. Staff at reception are perfect.
- waleed (9/5): -
- Sandra Dawn (9/5): Pretty and relaxing. - Beautiful hotel in a quiet location, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely restaurant overlooking the river. There was a light outside our room and curtains didn’t close fully. A spa area would have perfected our stay.
- Maria Eugenia (10/5): Excelente.
- Diego (10/5): - Beautiful property close to Haro and many wineries. Great staff service and breakfast. It has a very nice restaurant with a large beautiful outdoor terrace to relax during the day or evening.
- Janet (10/5): - Fantastisch hotel!
- Nicole (8/5): - It was a lovely hotel and stay.
- 271olivieru (10/5): Don't miss it - Beautiful style marrying tradition and modernity. Outstanding terrace and excellent food and service, especially from the sommelier who recommended superb wines and wineries, as well as Maria Jesus who took care of breakfast service with efficiency and a lovely smile. The hotel is also very clean. A magnificent place to visit the Rioja region.
- Di (9/5): Very enjoyable - Excellent breakfast and easy parking

- shahaf (10/5): wonderful hotel. - wonderful hotel. very good restaurant for both, dinner and breakfast. fantastic view.
- Iryna (10/5): -
- Carlos (10/5): - Love the location. Excellent service. Drive to all centralize Rioja bodegas. Very quiet and peacefull place. Excellent rooms and soft pillows. Excellent bath and shower. Only a couple of places to eat walking distance but if you have a car excellent choices in Haro at 10 minutes. Would stay here again at any time.
- Vladimir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Garfield (9/5): Enjoyable - Loved the location and building I was a little concerned about the car parking - no secure area
- Robin (10/5): Beautiful hotel, great location, really should be 5* - Beautiful hotel, great location, really should be 5*. Brinas is an amazing town with great walk, great restaurants, and great wines. Close to Haro and the big wineries. Breakfast was a bit greasy.
- Paul (4/5): Disappointing - The location next to the river was great, if only we could have seen it from our room. The food was delicious, service was a little slow. We booked a deluxe king sized bedroom through Bookings.com and ended up on the 3rd floor in the attic with the house martins. The sloped ceiling was so low you had to duck to avoid cracking your head on 3 or 4 beams. It was a danger in the middle of the night. For €270 a night it was overpriced and not worth it
- Dukic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paolo (9/5): Superb -
- anka (10/5): Peace in Rioja - A wonderful hotel in a peaceful setting along the river. A fantastic choice to escape the noise and crowds of tourists in the major cities visited. Hotel is very conveniently located to visit Rioja's best bodegas. Staff are lovely and most helpful in arranging tours. Hotel has one minor deficiency in a curiously noisy plumbing system.
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (10/5): - Excelente
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A gem in Rioja region!
- Pedro (9/5): Great choice for a relaxed stay and/or wineries visits - Great hotel with very nice and bear decoration. The hotel is reformed old palace with all commodities. The Staff is very helpful and kind and particular thanks go to the couple teaming at breakfast - they are nice and efficient and take good care of the guests. The location is very cosy in a nice little village and very close by to Haro and Laguardia, with their wineries. A four star hotel that can easily be considered a 5 stars one.
- lllaroo (8/5): Beautifully renovated hotel in a quiet village - This is a beautifully renovated Marriott Luxury property in the north Rioja region. We found the location to be very good for exploring Rioja on our own and with a private guide as well. The town is very small and quiet, however, which may not be to every guest's preference. The hotel is in an old building with a lot of character right on the Rio Ebro, but the hotel has fully updated, if somewhat small, rooms. The hotel restaurant is good but there are many better options in Briones and other nearby towns. The hotel arranged taxi service for dinner and the drivers were great. Excellent breakfast, which was included. Fitness center was not good -- old equipment, no towels or water. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and most spoke excellent English.
- vlerickpatrick (4/5): People Top ! Rooms overpriced ! - The service and people at reception and restaurant were Top ! Did their best to make our stay as perfect as possible! However the room was overpriced. We were staying in room 001, no separate bathroom. A little lavabo in the corner of our bedroom and a standalone shower in the middle of our bedroom !A pitty no honest foto’s are shown on the website. Ohhh and a barking dog next door…Dogs are allowed … No Marriott standaard !
- Nuj (2/5): One of the worst Marriott rooms we’ve experienced. - Breakfast and serving staff was lovely. Dinner was also very good with great friendly staff. Probably the worst Marriott room we’ve stayed in.
A few things wrong with the room.
(1) The room smelt musty. There’s been damp in the wooden panel (see photos)likely for to water leak & poor quality material.
(2) Shower light not working (see photo). Despite informing front desk and engineer coming in to repair, we had no light in our shower for our entire 4-day stay. Reception staff knew the reason but told us she was not aware until we got her to see the problem in the room then we were informed that engineer were aware but it would take a few days to order the parts.
(3) Tea bags were provided but no kettle. We were told by Reception to use the Nespresso machine for hot water but hot water came out with murky coffee smell so we felt we were given unconsidered advice.
(4) First day, our room was facing front desk so it was very noisy we could hear all the front desk conversation with guests. We were moved to another room which has issues described above.
Overall, not satisfied for the room & stay.
- Michelle (8/5): Great river setting and views from restaurant! - Loved the location by the river, the cellar and views of the gym. Although the rooms are comfortable and big, the interior design was very incoherent, with multiple types of wood - floor, walls, ceiling. Which made for a very disjointed visual experience. Also the showers need to be sealed better as it was leaking on the wood floors everytime we showered.
- Yee Wah (8/5): Comfortable stay - The hotel was nice. The room was large and the bed was big and comfortable. The room layout was a bit unusual as the shower is separated from the WC but there was nowhere to hang towels in the shower area. The room facilities were adequate. The location was a bit far from Haro and only transfer was by taxi, which the hotel can arrange but not easily available. The access from the main road to the hotel is a bit restricted as our mini-bus was unable to access the entrance and we had to drag our bags about 100m to the hotel. The breakfast provided was very good, with a wide spread. The restaurant was also very good.
- araqj (10/5): Amazing experience! - We are currently staying at the hotel. We love the location, the views, the facilities, and vibes of the hotel. The best part of our stay was enjoying the bar and restaurant. Borja and Natalia are super stars! They are personable, knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about their job, the area, and making everyone feel welcome. They both helped not only choose our wines, but they provided us with recommendations for Haro and explained everything about the hotel. The breakfast team was also amazing. The only cons were the check in team. We felt that they lack attentiveness. Also, no robes and slippers in the room. Finally, we were celebrating our anniversary and there was no recognition by the check in team (we are in Rioja and no complimentary wine was provided) and no titanium upgrade was given.
- reglaa (10/5): Magnificent Stay - We had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful Palacio Tondon for three days while exploring the Rioja region in Northern Spain! The property is unique and the location on the Ebro River with views of the Cantabrian Mountains cannot be beat! However, what truly makes this hotel outstanding is the staff that goes above and beyond in everything that they do to ensure that your stay is memorable. They do this with joy and a desire to please every guest. The reception team of Deepa, Esther, Saray and Isabel were exceptional and professional, extending warm greetings, offering suggestions for attractions and restaurants. They even helped our daughter arrange for delivery of flowers for Mothers Day! We dined at their Gran Reserva Restaurant where the food was absolutely magnificent! Our server, Natalia, was excellent giving us great suggestions and taking great care of us throughout the evening. The breakfast buffet is varied, fresh and delicious! Our server, Natividad, was great, humorous and attended to our every need. Our room was immaculate and refreshed every day (sorry that I've forgotten the name of the very nice cleaning lady). All in all it was an unforgettable stay! I would recommend Palacio Tondon 1000%.
- COLIN (6/5): - Before you book this hotel, bear in mind that the rooms shown in the photos are NOT necessarily will be provided. The so-called luxury river view rooms are not as shown and the river view is not as expansive as we’d expected or hoped. The hotel did nothing but make excuses about it. Furthermore, the air conditioning is not very effective at all and, oddly, controlled from reception. So, if you turn us down, they can turn it right back up again! We found the room incredibly hot (in May, imagine July!!) and we managed to secure a fan. The location is lovely and the hotel is pretty nice but the rooms are standard corporate fodder. There are far nicer places to stay so look around before you decide. The village is beautiful.
- Eduardo (8/5): A great option on the outskirts of Haro. - We love the location on the banks of the River Ebro. The restaurant is great, as is the food and the wine list.
- Giulia (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (9/5): A beautiful gem nested in Rioja Valley - Beautiful little hotel nested in a very pretty village by the river. Most friendly and caring staff. Great breakfast choice Nothing
- Gorkem (9/5): Superb -
- William (9/5): Excellent base to visit the La Rioja region, high quality hotel in an off the beaten path location. - Liked it all, excellent facility ie; comfort of the rooms the gym and restaurant.
- Mauricio j (8/5): Buen hotel boutique. - Todo muy bien.
- Emilio (10/5): Todo perfecto.
- Krzysztof (10/5): Very friendly staff and nice location - Bar and Restaurant
Also room very good Non
- yamil (10/5): - Great!
- Traveler-Asia (8/5): Lovely hotel in a lovely village - Beautiful hotel by the river. In a small nondescript but really beautiful and peaceful village. Felt totally out of this world.
Room size is ok, room is nice and contemporary. Expensive toilet fittings. Window overlooks the river, which is soothing to look at. If I could draw or paint, it would be a perfect spot to do so.
The only flaw is the interior designer focused only on the aesthetics and didn’t pay more attention to function (hence my rating of 4 rather than 5). Shower cubicle is all glass; could be really sexy but it would be nice to have some private moments, even if you are traveling with your partner. I imagine it would be odd if traveling with a friend. There was nowhere to hang your towel after a shower, except to hang it in the toilet with the toilet bowl, which doesn’t feel quite sanitary or pleasant to me.
Dining room is charming and breakfast room is even more so.
Hotel staff are helpful and polite.
The hotel is a leisurely but long (45 minutes) stroll or a 5 minute drive to the wineries at Haro (Muga, CVNE).
If you feel like eating something different, a small cafe / bar just a stone’s throw away from the hotel entrance, managed by a lovely lady, serves delicious food at super reasonable prices.
The hotel has no parking available but you can park anywhere around the hotel so long as you don’t block anyone’s entrance.
- Alexa (9/5): Superb - Absolutely stunning hotel which is very close to all the major wineries and points of interest in the region. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was top notch. We had an amazing time!! The room could have been cleaner, but it was nothing horrible.
- Ana (6/5): - Parking was complicated
- Rafael (1/5): One of the worst experiences ever. - Only the restaurant (food & staff) Service, recepction staff, cordiality, concern for guests. Terrible experience
- Shelagh (4/5): Nice building, great location - could be so much better - It’s a beautifully converted old building on the banks of the Ebro, with a nice 40 min walk along the river into Haro. The room was perfectly comfortable but on the 3rd floor in the eaves so felt more like a ski chalet room , with sloping roof and velum windows in the roof ( no view whatsoever) - although to be fair we took the last available room so our choice was limited . A lovely terrace overlooking the river. Dinner was good and reasonably priced - as long as the restaurant wasn’t full when the service became erratic. The hotel is understaffed which is a great pity as it has potential. For its rating and pricing you are entitled to expect more of an overall experience I think. Perhaps we were unlucky and it was I suppose out of peak holiday season ( although the grape harvest was In full swing ).
There was no-one to help with baggage or show you to your room. The reception was often not staffed so it was sometimes difficult to get answers to questions. A nice looking wine shop/tasting area was never staffed and no interest shown in persuading you to try ! The terrace was not staffed at lunchtime so you had to ring for service; the bar is tiny and not staffed so lacking in atmosphere. Breakfast average - poor service when busy , fairly limited choices compared to other hotels in the region we stayed in and the coffee machine was erratic and noisy in the small room.
No parking although it was easy enough to fine a space a short walk away but I imagine this could be tricky in peak season.
There was zero interest in any feedback in person on departure
- Rosaria (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect! Na
- Noy (9/5): Superb -
- blogblog00 (10/5): A beautiful hotel in pleasant surroundings - One of the best if not the best hotel I’ve come across in a long time . Beautiful surroundings, lovely staff , very clean and the restaurant was good too . Breakfast in a small room , buffet and some cooked food served at the table was very relaxed. Lovely hot coffee , capsules .
Definitely recommend booking a room with view of river.
Reception staff very pleasant and helpful . Staff in bar /restaurant very good too . Borja and Jesus and their colleague make sure that you are well looked after and enjoy your meal .
Highly recommend
- Facu2611 (10/5): Amazing experience - Excellent hotel. Small town - quite romantic to enjoy some relaxing time. The hotel staff was super helpful and accomodating. The food delicious and you can sip the best wines. the hotel rooms are gorgeous- we had one overlooking the Ebro. You are also close to great wineries and beautiful towns like El ciego and La Guardia.
