Guest Reviews
- Diana (10/5): - From the moment His Majesty and I crossed the threshold of this resplendent Icelandic haven, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of understated opulence and Nordic charm. Our three-night sojourn felt less like a hotel stay and more like a curated experience in refined hospitality. The staff, ever gracious and impeccably mannered, anticipated our needs with the kind of intuitive finesse one typically reserves for palace attendants.
Our suite—an exquisite blend of modern elegance and cozy sophistication—boasted every amenity one might desire, from plush linens that whispered luxury to a décor so tastefully orchestrated it could have been lifted from the pages of Architectural Digest. The view? Positively cinematic. Each morning greeted us with a panorama so breathtaking, it felt as though Iceland herself had arranged the landscape for our private enjoyment.
The location, too, was nothing short of perfection—close enough to the pulse of adventure, yet secluded enough to preserve our royal tranquility. Needless to say, we are already plotting our triumphant return.
- Lisa (10/5): - Great property! Loved the proximity to Vik, the modern room, and the amazing views! Would stay here again in a heartbeat! The beds were super comfortable with a great shower. Highly recommend!
- Chad (10/5): - Very spacious and clean space. It’s a dual property but very nice building for the hotel. Good views. Small coffee shop at adjacent hostel property.
- Tong Li (10/5): - Nice place to stay near Vik, need a car.
- Jillian (10/5): - Easy check in, clean and spacious room with an amazing view!
- Kimberly (10/5): - Clean room, beautiful views and sunsets. Very comfortable suite with loveseat and table with two chairs in room and a desk. loved the kitchenette in suite. parking free and near unit. 10-15 minutes drive from Vik. I was very happy with our stay here. There is a bar with drinks coffee and light snacks available in the Barn where you check in. I would highly recommend staying here.
- Tanya (10/5): - Parking was easy. Loved that black beach was 5min drive away
- Tammie (10/5): - Vik is an amazing remote location, esp on the beach at sunset. If you have a car, this is a great way to experience SE Iceland. We skipped dinner in town and enjoyed frozen pizza with the hostel guests . Highly recommend.
- Andrew (10/5): - View is stunning! Place was state of the art! Would stay here again in heart beat
- karen (10/5): - The hotel was amazing, very quiet and spacious.
- Raymond (10/5): Exceeded all our high expectations - Amazing property and visit, exceeded our expectations. Stayed in one of the larger suites. The suite itself was fantastic in terms of views, design, decorating, furniture, and being well equipped. The views out the rear wall of windows was amazing. We often found ourselves just sitting there taking in the views and sunsets. The staff was terrific. The proximity to Vik was great. The beauty and serenity of the location of the property was wonderful. Cant recommend enough.
- Sydney (10/5): Loved this hotel! - Loved this hotel! Great views and location! room was spacious and luxurious.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Beautiful rooms and location. Quiet and peaceful.
- Matthew (10/5): - Excellent property, very clean and everything was perfect. Cool location with a unique view.
- Camille (10/5): - It is the best place we visited at Iceland twice. It is modern, clean and specious. There are almost we need for a stay plus a beautiful view. We saw fantastic sunset with golden light on the field outside. I appreciate the kitchen with sink, water kettle, microwaves and fridge. We can make breakfast ourselves.
- Christopher (10/5): - If you are in this part of Iceland, this is the place to stay. Fabulous!!
- Ana (10/5): - Beautiful location with amazing views, very spacious modern suite, comfortable bed and bedding. Had a great experience at this hotel and would definitely come back.
- Maria (10/5): - Perfect location with the view of the ocean and back beach. Extremely spacious unit.
- Robert (10/5): - It was a very nice studio suite with a full kitchen. They didn't have much in the way of breakfast at the hotel, so we picked up food to cook and that worked out really well. Our only issue was with the flies outside. We couldn't keep the windows open to cool off the room without the flies getting into the room.
- Zenab yakub (10/5): - Extremely large and clean rooms. I would definitely stay here again.
- Janice (10/5): - Amazing stay! Very clean and comfortable. We loved eating breakfast in front of such a beautiful view!
- Rose Ann (10/5): - It was a lovely little hotel suite perfect for what we needed
- Catherine (10/5): - My group and I really enjoyed our stay
- Aditya (10/5): Family vacay in Vic - Amazing secluded hotel right near black beach! Superb!
- Katie (10/5): - Beautiful views. Friendly staff. Close to town and sights. A wonderful experience here.
- Shaun (8/5): - The views were amazing
- Lauren (10/5): - I do not post many reviews. This hotel was outstanding for our family of 4 with two teenagers. It was modern, clean, and had a wonderful view. They were even able to setup a rollaway bed, so that we had three beds (important with teens). We went to happy hour, and the drinks were delicious. There were also treats and drinks for breakfast too. The staff was also really nice and provided a warm welcome. Having all the amenities to cook was perfect as meals out are pricey. It is also just a few minutes to the town of Vik that has an ample grocery store (just don't go at the end of their opening hours if you want fresh bread/pastries).
- Dayna (10/5): - Black Beach Suites was a highlight on our road trip around the south coast of Iceland. Beautiful accommodations and views. We had a large room for our family of 4, that was clean, new, modern and fully equipped. It overlooked a field and the ocean in the distance. We loved that it was secluded and wonderfully quiet. The suites were close to the infamous Reynisfjara beach and a quick drive to the town of Vik. I was so happy we found this place to stay on our trip!
- Yogita (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Everything was luxurious, enjoyed the suite with a beautiful view of the black sand beach. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends!
- Susan (4/5): Great location and room. Terrible front desk staff - Front desk very unhelpful. Argumentative. We were searching for a store that sells glue, not super glue. Told there was no type of store but at the petrol/gas station the young man said yes, indeed there is called Aldon. They were very unhelpful and very unfriendly both the night staff and the checkout staff. For the price we were very disappointed with customer service.
- Gus (10/5): - Room was excellent - would’ve liked some USB ports to recharge devices. Just a thought to improve an already great place.
- Gary (10/5): - Beautiful location, views and suite was amazing?
- Amy (10/5): - Wonderful location and room was great!
- Yuheng (10/5): Modern hotel - Modern design, big window, comfortable stay. Lost my SD card in the room but the staff was able to find it and mail it to my home oversea (need to pay for it but it’s reasonable)
- jeniffer (10/5): - This place exceeded my expectations! During my trip to Iceland, I stayed at three different locations, and this one truly stood out. The room was spacious and spotless, and the bathroom was impressively large. The surrounding area was stunning, and as a delightful bonus, you’re greeted in the morning by friendly sheep wandering onto the property it was such a charming touch!
- Nikhil (10/5): - premium and well maintained property facing Dyrholaey
- Jennifer (10/5): - Loved this stay. Local sheep would walk up near the cottages. The interior was modern, clean and very comfortable.
- Teresa (10/5): - Beautiful view, clean room, comfortable
- Tom (10/5): - Beautiful and modern amenities in a gorgeous area near Vik, black sand beach and glaciers.
- Sandra (10/5): - A very serene and relaxing accommodation. Wish we could have spent more time here. Room was plush and very comfortable.
- Bryan (10/5): - Really great property and accommodations. Close to the a black sand beach and around the corner from Vik. everything was perfect for a great family trip. The suite room was spacious enough for me and my wife and two adult sons.
- Wendy (10/5): - Very nice location. It was pricey,
- hamid (8/5): - No breakfast or food in the hotel. Plan on going out
- Jennifer (10/5): - Beautiful and convenient location and nice sized and well decorated suites. We never received welcome drink that was in reservation. We booked several units for a large group and that worked out well. Not too far from town. We would return.
- Susan (10/5): - Beautiful location for a suite hotel. We only stayed 1 night but with the fully equipped kitchen and spacious room, this location would serve as an ideal week long destination to base from for southern Iceland exploring.
- Kevin (10/5): Be a hero - book these suites! - This was the nicest place we stayed at all week.
The views are stunning, the rooms are huge and the showers are great.
Having a mini kitchen and fridge gave us the option to cook for our picky kids.
Be a hero - book these suites and your family with thank you.
- Mamatha (10/5): - Quiet, clean place with great views
- Atul (10/5): - Excellent property
- Zachary (10/5): - Views were great and the room was very nice.
- juan (10/5): - The hotel rooms were new and clean. Everything looked amazing.
- Sandra (10/5): GORGEOUS AND COMFY - This was one of the largest rooms we had in Iceland. It's an entire apartment with a huge bathroom and beautiful walk in shower. The beds were so comfy. It had a full shower, dining room, living room and huge TV. The private patio had amazing views of the Black Sand Beaches. You can pull your car right up to your front door. It had a beautiful bar and restaurant on the property. It also had shampoo, conditioner and lotion! Rare find in Iceland hotels. Loved it so much!
- Douglas (8/5): - Beautiful room with small kitchen. Nice views from (no furniture) of the farm land leading into the ocean. There is a lobby that seems designed mostly to serve the sister hostel (barn) with a small bar and common kitchen. It was bustling there but not in a very positive way. But essentially no food. The hotel is on the same road that leads to the black sand Reynisfjara beach where everyone goes. You have to drive for dinner to Vik which has a few okay places to eat.
- Clorinda (8/5): Perfect (except for sofa bed!) - This was an amazing property on the Black Sand Beach near Vik. We were traveling with three people, and chose this hotel because of the beds for three. My only complaint was that the sofa bed was EXTREMELY squeaky and the bars made it uncomfortable. We were there for two nights and this would have definitely been a 5 star review except for the sofa bed.
- Maisie (10/5): - Loved it. Beautiful and quiet.
- Kathleen (10/5): Great stay - Excellent location, very clean. Fabulous views.
- Stefanie (10/5): - I loved everything about this place. Not only do I want to come back to Iceland, but I want to specifically come back and stay at this place for a longer stay.
- Fatima (10/5): - This was a beautiful property and felt very upscale as soon as you went to check-in at the reception area. Our suite came with its own parking spot. The suite itself was cute and comfortable and we had a great view of the fields, hills and water. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was big and spacious. The shower was amazing! Perfect water pressure! We really enjoyed staying here and wish we had booked two nights instead of one. It was close to all the attractions in and around Vik. I highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Vik.
- Gavan (10/5): - Very close to Vik including adventure tours, shopping, and natural beauty locations from there. View from hotel was spectacular.
Washer/dryer available so can leave with clean clothes.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Beautiful location and views.
- Teresa (10/5): Great Place to Stay - Very clean and great location. Sofa bed was as expected... squeaky and not super cushy, but easy to put up and take down. We loved the cooktop and dishes provided.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic all around - A fantastic property in a fantastic location - I'd go again in a heartbeat!
- Colton (10/5): Luxury and Comfort - OMG, this place was so amazing. Furnished kitchen with luxury items. My toddler ended up getting sick from a prior hotel stay and this place was just the perfect location for us to enjoy the scenery and unwind while he recovered. We plan on returning on our next trip here.
- Jill (10/5): Perfect stay 8 minutes from Vik. - Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Beautiful area-loved it.
- Andrea (10/5): - Wonderful location. Beautiful views from rooms. Great apartments.
- Abraham (10/5): - This hotel was easy to find and had a good location from town and other sites in the area.
- Shiraz (10/5): - Beautiful and luxurious. Has everything you need and feels like all quality material. Would absolutely stay again.
- Paul (10/5): - Perfect setting, great rooms with kitchen. Top tier finishes and cleanliness.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Beautiful area and nice accommodations.
- Tracy (10/5): - Loved the location. Close to Vik and all of the sights.
- JOSHUA (10/5): - Amazing suites and views. Plenty of room for family of 4 and large bathrooms and showers.
- Robert (10/5): - Quiet with nice views
- Erin (10/5): - This place was stunning! Loves the barn area too!
- Kelly (10/5): Gorgeous location - Fantasic location with a magnificent view. The room was very comfortable and spacious.
- Nimesh (10/5): - Great hotel. Clean. Gorgeous vies.
- Tracy (10/5): - Highly recommend as a place to stay for incredible views
- Carl W (10/5): - We loved this place. Gorgeous location overlooking Vik’s black sand beaches. The view is great but understand you are very far from the beach up the cliff so you see the coast from afar. Service was outstanding and got prompt attention to all our needs. The room is very generously sized and has everything you need to be self sufficient. The only downside is that it is all one big room so no separated bedrooms. Lovely balcony overlooking the cliff’s and beaches. Kitchen was in good condition. Everything looked new! My only complaint was an odor from the bathroom on stormy day so make sure to open window if it’s been raining a lot. There was also no shower door or curtain on what aopeared to be a curtain rod at shower entrance. It wasn’t a big deal and we kept forgetting to ask about it. Might just be an open design, hard to tell.
Property has cute lobby building with nice bar and limited food menu. There is also a nice kitchen area upstairs from the bar with great views of the coast.
Very convenient access to Vik and nearby South Iceland sights.
- Kerstin (10/5): - This property was very luxurious. Lots of space clean and well renovated, amazing views. Although more expensive than other properties we’re staying in we felt it was worth the price for a few days of luxury.
- Wendi (8/5): - The suites are VERY Large. They have full kitchen and eating area. nice size bath. Also, a patio that has a beautiful view!!
- Elaina (10/5): - Beautiful property with free parking outside the unit. I wish there was a separate room for the kids but the sofabed was reasonable enough!
- Kara (8/5): - Beautiful location. But the newest part has thin walls and could hear other guests. Be sure to book independent cottage. We did tell staff, but nothing was done to prevent the jumping up and down in unit above us (well past midnight). Still, gorgeous location and nice room. We were to get free drink tickets and did not get them.
- Sarah (10/5): - Our room was stunning- the view was so amazing looking towards dyrholeay made me never want to leave. Felt like luxury.
- Brandy (10/5): - The place was great! Terrific view, close to the beach, very clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend!!!
- Leslie (10/5): - Beautiful property with super-friendly and helpful staff
- Marianne (10/5): - Love this place- serene and relaxing!
- Marianne (10/5): - Great location with fabulous amenities. Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Stephen (10/5): - Exceptional unique Icelandic stay … we have already decided to return again.
- Sara (10/5): - Can’t wait to come back to the Black Sand Suites. This place was an 11/10!
- James (10/5): - Great spot near the black sand beach, Vik (grocery store) & 25 minutes from Arctic Adentures, in which we did a glacier walk (expensive but a great experience). No shower curtain so bathroom floor gets soaked & slippery. Bed very comfortable, but didn’t like we did not have heat control, it was way too warm so we always had windows open. No outfoor furniture for deck, for the price we paid, there should be outdoor furniture to enjoy the views from outside. Smoking area located right next to check in area, totally offensive for those of us who do not smoke. Does not send a good message from hotel perspective, ruined our first impressions.
- Macy (10/5): - Good location to Vik, kind staff, easy check in and check out, nice closet space, floor was clean but had rocks, shower made the bathroom wet everywhere with moisture, window was left open after cleaning staff all day, nice kitchen items, comfy beds, bad shampoo/conditioner compared to USA, asked for more towels and they were nice but we had to get them from the check-in, gravel parking was good, far from the beach - you don’t need a a view if you’re going to be gone.
- Melissa (10/5): - View was amazing. Very soacious living space.
- John (8/5): - I think we could have asked how to warm up the frigid bathroom, but we did not. A bit miserable in the cold weather.
- Gary (10/5): - A great place to stay with a great view
- sasha (8/5): - The view is absolutely stunning, but the property itself felt a bit dated and not as clean as some of the reviews suggested. The front door lock was difficult to operate, both when opening and closing. Additionally, access is via a traditional metal key, and only one set is provided, which can be inconvenient for multiple guests.
- crystal (10/5): - Beautiful, clean. Great setting
- Isabel (10/5): - This hotel was amazing. The view is stunning. The beds were super comfortable. Highly recommend.
- Lisa (10/5): - Brand new, modern, comfortable rooms with an amazing view
- Ian (10/5): - This was a beautiful room. The shower was terrific, the environment was still and quiet and the hotel was located just up the road from the stunning Black Beach, a short drive from the surprisingly plentiful amenities of Vik. The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was the fact the view to the namesake beach was obscured by another row of rooms in another building.
- Ruth (10/5): - Excellent property. Beautiful scenery from the glass windows. Extremely clean and modern.
- Leah (10/5): - beautiful view of an island known for puffins. very close to the beach-- and-- it was perfectly clear when Vik was socked in with smog. staff was easy-going and accomodating.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Exceeded my expectations
