• Violetta (10/5): Gemütliches Zimmer mit adäquaten Preis und herzlichen Gastgeber. - Du Lage ist sehr gut. Per Bus und Zug zu erreichen. Wenn man will aber auch per Auto. Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Das Zimmer ist geräumig und der Gastgeber sehr, sehr freundlich. Er hat mir erlaubt das Zimmer etwas länger zu nutzen am Tag des Check-Outs und ich konnte meinen Koffer darin deponieren, da es keine direkte Folgebuchung gab. Ich habe viele Fragen beantwortet gekriegt und habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt (alleinreisende Frau). Das Zentrum ist zu Fuß oder per Bus erreichbar. Man kann sich nicht verlaufen, da es nur geradeaus geht. Ab hier kann man auch einen Ausflug per Stagecoach nach Culross machen. Nichts.

• Kat (10/5): So glad we chose Clarke Cottage - Easy access by train or car. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Comfy bedroom with nice amenities. Breakfast room was lovely and breakfast was delicious (perfect eggs)! We look forward to returning to Clarke Cottage for a longer stay 🙂

No complaints..as always.

Rather old fashioned and tired decor and facilities, nowhere to plug phone charger, the hairdryer was a tiny travel one which was excruciating to dry hair with...no mixer tap in ensuite, and we were very cold , even though the radiator was on.

I had everything I required in my room and just had to ask if there was anything else needed. There was nothing I didn't like. I will definitely be booking again in the near future.

• Chloe (8/5): Lovely stay! - Great location, some lovely original features! Suzie was super helpful and lovely to talk to! The facilities were spotlessly clean and the room was made up every day, the WiFi was good and the smart TV was a lovely touch, loved that there were tea and coffee facilities and a fridge for our use in the room too! The drawers and wardrobes were really spacious and having an ironing board was a really happy surprise as we were staying for a nearby wedding! Nothing major! The internal walls are quite thin, so you’ll hear people passing/talking etc in the hallways at a decent volume, also some noisy pipes (I assumed, could’ve been something else) which interrupted sleep a little in the mornings, but really didn’t put a dampener on the stay at all, just a minor niggle, would still absolutely recommend!

• Dominique (9/5): Charmant cottage - L'accueil de Suzanne et Colin très chaleureux. Petit déjeuner cuisiné par Suzanne extraordinaire, elle nous a fait gouter le haggis et le black pudding. Comme c'était notre première étape en Ecosse nous étions ravis. Logement pratique à l'arrivée pour partir en circuit car seulement à 26 km de l'aéroport. Lits très confortables. Cottage très typique aussi les équipement ne sont pas ceux d'un hôtel classique.

For a dinner recommendation, you can also get very good advice on the local restaurants worth visiting. The beds can be a little small if you or your partner are tall.

However, I didn't request a breakfast so not sure if I had requested and then asked for an early breakfast if they would have been able to provide

The cottage has a pleasant ambience and the hosts were cheerful and helpful. Clarke Cottage is a short distance from the motorway and East End Park, but I didn't venture into town so couldn't say how handy it is. The shower was a bit on the small side and the extract fan a bit noisy, but that's just an observation, not a complaint.

• Zoe (5/5): Disappointing and misleading – not worth the price - The staff and the dining room are the only things we liked. We were very disappointed with our stay. The photos gave the impression of a charming, cozy cottage, but in reality, the room was dated, dark, and quite depressing - it felt like stepping into a sad version of the 1980s, with very little updated apart from the TV. The hotel is located right next to an industrial area, which was not mentioned, and this completely took away any sense of peace or charm. For the price we paid (£130), we expected far better. For the same price, and even less, we stayed in several other places across Scotland during our trip that were incredibly welcoming, tasteful, and great value. (If the host is interested, I’d be happy to share examples for inspiration.) Breakfast was rigidly set at 8 a.m., which is fairly late by UK hotel standards, and although the host agreed to start cooking a few minutes earlier so we could leave at 8:15 to catch our train, she only began cooking at 8. Overall, the atmosphere, location, and value were disappointing. We felt misled by the listing, which is never a good feeling when you’re travelling. A few simple updates and more transparency could make a big difference.
