asjeff (6/5): Nice and quiet place to stay away from the bustle of the city, but with some actions needed - Nico Lagoon is situated in a nice quiet area next to the lake. The rooms are clean and spacious and the small pool is lovely and clean - great for soaking away some of the heat. On arrival we were presented with a nice cool fruit juice, and the breakfast was filling and tasty (go for the Sri Lankan breakfast, not the Western one....). Nico himself is friendly and happy to explain the trials and tribulations of his hotel, and the whole hotel is peaceful. There is a bar located in the new restaurant that is being built (although we didn't actually use it so can't tell you what it is like - but it did seem popular with some of the locals). It is also within walking distance (just) of a few eateries such as Dutch Trails etc. Nico is also more than happy to arrange airport transfers. It is underneath the flight path - but it is not disruptive during the day and not noticeable at night. Unfortunately when you turn up it feels like it is a bit of a building site - but, to be fair, we were out of season and works must be done sometime. However the rear of the hotel and around the new restaurant could maybe be a bit tidier. As we were out of season it is possible that some of the facilities were unavailable - I suspect that the water sport hire wasn't applicable, and the restaurant seemed for breakfast only. Having your own transport is a blessing here too (although presumably they can arrange a tuk-tuk etc if needed). Overall it feels like the hotel just needs that last push on the investment and building front, but this shouldn't put you off.
WendyLady16 (8/5): Shabby looking hotel but met my needs for short stop during the day - Important note. I did not stay overnight at this hotel but spent several hours there before my flight. I've rated it based on my expectations considering the price I paid. The pool was lovely and overlooks the lagoon. I also had a very pleasant lunch. Good WiFi and Aircon. Only one towel was provided. No hand towel, no pool towel and no evidence of a hair drier. I actually would not have stayed the night having seen the state of the pillows on the bed.

Lokesh (5/5): Passable - we got a fruit plate as dinner on request. we were the only guest for the whole hotel that night it was a bit spooky as the entrance to the hotel is not from main road and you will first see a broken old house before you see the hotel. the ambience and the feeling needs to be changed. Staff in itself was good but I only met one person as staff. it felt very odd like this as its not at all common for a Hotel. Room Cot and bed was not comfortable. Bathroom was clean.

From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and made sure everything was perfectly arranged. The location is stunning ♥️ , right by the lagoon with peaceful views and a refreshing breeze, giving us the perfect escape from city life. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and all the amenities we needed. The peaceful ambiance and well-kept surroundings made it easy for everyone to relax and unwind. One of the highlights was the beautiful pool area – ideal for chilling out, having fun with the group, and taking plenty of great photos! The outdoor setting with the lagoon view made it even more special. The food was delicious local and international options, freshly prepared and served with care. We had a wonderful dinner and a satisfying breakfast the next morning, with plenty of variety for everyone. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, even helping us arrange a few extra things we needed for our group. Their friendliness and professionalism really made a difference. Overall, it was the perfect spot for a short getaway with friends – peaceful, clean, well-equipped, and very reasonably priced. We left with wonderful memories and would definitely recommend Nico Lagoon Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Negombo
Alister (10/5): Blessed resort from Nature Nico Lagoon! - This is blessed resort from Nature. Well maintained. staff is very friendly and attentive. Nico lagoon is well managed. We had a great time. The pool was amazing and the view was beautiful. It has a lovely ambience. No stress and no disturbance from the outer world. Prices are really reasonable and service provider is more than beyond that. Kudos to Sheehan who words there he takes care of all the guests and he does a honest job taking care and keeping everything running well smooth and making it the best memorable experience to all guests. No complaints.

Sergei (2/5): Disappointing Experience - Misleading Airport Transfer Information - The only person who showed any kind of understanding or apology was a helpful young man at reception desk. We stayed at Nico Lagoon Hotel in September 2024, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. We chose this hotel specifically because the listing mentioned an airport transfer service, but it turned out that they do not offer it. Despite inquiring both the day before and on the day of arrival, we didn’t receive the transfer, even when we were ready to pay for it. They left us stranded at the airport, and the hotel is a 30-40 minute drive away. When we finally arrived, late at night with my pregnant wife, the owner tried to explain that their “airport shuttle” mark on Booking.com doesn’t mean they provide a free or included service. Unfortunately, the room was also disappointing. It was hot, as the air conditioning barely worked, and the floor was uneven, making it easy to trip. WiFi was technically available, but completely unusable throughout our stay. The electrical condition of the room was poor – some light fixtures were hanging loose, and some power sockets didn’t work at all or switched off randomly. If we hadn’t arrived so late, we would have looked for another place to stay. After traveling around Sri Lanka for three weeks and staying in various accommodations, some with lower ratings, this hotel failed to meet even basic expectations. Apart from the nice pictures on Booking.com, the hotel didn’t offer much in terms of comfort or service. We’re hoping we can at least call a taxi in the morning, as we have no desire to even try the breakfast. Such a shame.
Pasi (10/5): Visiting in Negombo - 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel has a taxi service, too. You can take a tuk-tuk from the hotel to Negombo restaurant area close to the Negombo Beach. The hotel can arrange it for you. It takes 20 minutes. Breakfast was good. The hotel staff was excellent.

Justyna (7/5): Good for a short stay - Good for a short stay, food was good, tasty. Rooms are clean, and spacious. Location is a bit too far from everything, but just for the info - just check it on a map. The pool wasn't the cleanest one, also the rooms need a little renovation.

Shahnaz (9/5): The natural beauty of the hotel is surreal! The pool and lagoon were lifetime experience! - The hotel is by the lap of the beautiful lagoon and the swmming pool was adjacent to the lagoon. It was magical! More remmended to visit in full moon. The staff were so nice, room and bathroom was clean. It was nice staying there. They didn't provide any blanket or comforter for the extra bed but the weather was pretty much cold. and we had to pay for the breakfast.

Robert (10/5): Relaxing - The staff were brilliant, the manager Lucky ensured that you were well looked after, the food was all freshly cooked, tasty and reasonably priced. The rooms was spacious, with warm shower and efficient AC. The swimming pool was well maintained and had a fantastic view over the lagoon Nothing wrong with the property , but the sea is rocky on the local beaches and there is no cover from the sun , this is not a negative on the hotel itself, just to let others know
Rob (9/5): Great doorway into Sri Lanka. - Picked up from the airport by Nico himself. All the staff were very helpful. We had a full day getting to know the local food, culture and lagoon environment. A short walk to the sea.

Anastacia (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is absolutely amazing. Nico and Mr. Lucky are super kind and I’m extremely satisfied with my stay. Unfortunately I got sick before I arrived and when I got there they took care of me as if I was part of their family. Food was amazing, they took me to the doctor, bought my medicine, checked on me many times… I can’t express how grateful I am for choosing this place. ❤️ Nothing, everything was great.
