Guest Reviews
- nides77 (10/5): Large 2 bed apartment in town centre - We needed short term accommodation for renovation works. Flat 3 was massive with a beautiful kitchen diner and lounge space. 2 bedrooms and a bath/shower room. The outside space was a real treat. Plenty of soaps/toilet roll/toiletries provided. George was amazing at helping with booking and providing flexibility-he always produced any admin needed. Overall we were very impressed as the accommodation was larger than expected and was in a brilliant location.
- JoanaPC (10/5): Excellent Stay in the Heart of Taunton! - My husband and 2 sons stayed at the 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor. The unit is in great condition. The kitchen is well-equipped and we really had every thing we needed for our 1-week stay.
The location of the property is just a few minutes' walk to the centre and there is a great pub just across the road. We had a few meals there which was quite handy. Tescos is just a short walk away.
George is responsive and accommodating. We'll stay here again.
- zebra1964 (10/5): Elegant yet homely - Beautiful all facilities in room near town centre. Just not a fan of the actual way breakfast was served as I was up earl y at that point and took staff by surprise at 7.30 but otherwise recommend for everyone. I enjoyed my me time in such elegant settings. Quality bedding and spotless bathroom and shower.
- tom_a_maher (10/5): Well-appointed, spacious and excellent location. - Stayed in apartment 2 for one night. Spotlessly clean throughout, large bedrooms and double showers (handy for a family of four). Complimentary milk and cereal was a thoughtful (and appreciated) consideration.
The location is quiet but very convenient to walk into Taunton or use as a base to explore the south west.
Would return for a longer stay.
- LR68 (10/5): Fabulous stay, once again! - The Blorenge was our “go to” hotel when visiting Taunton. The business now focuses on self catering apartments and as people who value their own space, we weren’t sure that the apartment set-up would be for us. We needn’t have worried.
The apartment was wonderful; spacious and well equipped as well as very comfortable.
The team were, as always, really helpful and friendly.
We are really looking forward to our next stay.
- StephenR744 (10/5): A really great Air BnB - My wife and I arranged a stay at Blorenge House as is was convenient for a visit for health purposes, as a result of COVID we needed to ensure good isolation to avoid any possible contamination. The use of a two room apartment gave us loads of space and we did not feel at all restricted. The apartment was beautifully furnished and apparently newly refitted. It was very well appointed with all the accoutrements that one could possibly need.
The management were super friendly and really helpful and dealt with virtually every whim! The property is beautifully situated on a residential road about five minute from the centre of Taunton, two minutes from a useful supermarket
All in all a perfect retreat
- V9553JSjohnl (2/5): george refused to give a refund due to us having to cancel because of covid donotdobuisness wirh this man - george refused to give a refund due to us having to cancel because of covid 19. This is with 3 days notice. Even though it has free cancelation advertised on most of his booking sites do not do buisness with this man,
- lexilooloobelles (10/5): Fabulous apartment in the heart of Taunton - Gorgeous two bed, two bath apartment with a little kitchen and separate lounge/dining room. We stayed here for our staycation in August 2020 with two kids (aged 8 and 12) and a dog. Our apartment was basement with its own stairs leading up to the lovely garden with heated pool. Yes, heated pool so despite the british weather the kids had a lot of fun in it. The apartment itself was very clean, had lovely amenities (biscuits, tea, coffee, bathroom toiletries) a washing machine, microwave, TV in 3 rooms and airing cupboard for drying the washing. (sad I know but I have a washing machine addiction on holiday). We were about a 5 minute walk to the bridge into town and had the weather been nicer we would have walked in loads more than we did. Everyone we met who worked at Blorenge House was very friendly and chatty. One even apologised for the rain
- James (10/5): - Really nice place to stay very clean and well positioned for town centre .Great breakfast
- deedeespencer (10/5): Superb surroundings and setting made for a super relaxing stay. - We stayed at Blorenge House for three nights because our son was playing in a cricket festival nearby. Our party, made up of Mum (me), Dad, Grandad and six year old son (grandson) stayed in Apartment 2 (parents and son) and Room 11 (Grandad). We booked a room for Grandad in the hotel part of this lovely building because we thought he’d need the space. However, he could have easily fitted into the apartment which was luxurious and spacious with two bedrooms - main with what seemed like a super king size bed and second bedroom with twin beds - and two bathrooms. Furthermore there was a lovely relaxing sitting room that easily accommodated a dining table in the corner. Our apartment was “below stairs” but was as far removed from a dark basement as you could imagine. Rather, it was light and welcoming which may have been attributable, in part, to the tasteful decor and gorgeous soft furnishings. The stairs from our apartment led up to the garden area with with an outdoor swimming pool which six year old son (grandson) declared the best part of the three day break. It wasn’t particularly warm while we were there but the gardens catch the sun and it was nice to sit on the outdoor furniture dotted around the garden and adjacent to the apartment. I personally didn’t sample the breakfast as I wanted to maximise use of the self catering facilities but Dad/Grandad said it was excellent and had cereals/fruit/juice followed by full English (and hash browns) with beans/tomato etc and toast. They also appreciated the attentiveness of the lady serving breakfast but didn’t catch her name so sorry can’t name check her.
All in all a lovely stay and if our son is lucky enough to be picked for the festival again next year we’ll be back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - My room was tiny and very claustrophobic. I had no clean towels given to me throughout the whole weekend.
- CFulton66 (10/5): Trip whilst son on cricket tour in Taunton - Top hotel - beautiful rooms. Great breakfast and staff can’t do enough for you! The pool was great as we were there hottest week of the year so far! Also lovely to be able to sit in the garden in the evening.
Highly recommend this B and B. Friends also stated in the apartment which was equally beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely stay , only problem was the steep stairs to the top floor. Large room .
- LindaH7071 (8/5): Welcoming host, spotlessly clean, great location - Stayed one night to attend a wedding. Easy walk to central Taunton and the registry office. Our room was well equipped. Bright and airy. Very clean. Shower room a little dated. Nice tray with kettle etc. Toiletries great too. Plenty of fruit, toast and cereal available at breakfast. Full English was on the small side but nicely cooked. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. The owner was very friendly and welcoming
- margih50 (2/5): Poor - Stayed for one night on our way to
St lves Cornwall, room bit tired but adequate , bed (four poster,) comfortable clean sheets towels bedding etc.. , bathroom bit dated but nice(door shuts carn't open it easily got to really tug/pull and yank it) remote for TV doesn't work.
Breakfast well it was dire!! Cheap anaemic sausage, fatty salty bacon, cheap soggy hash browns, eggs tasteless , egg cup (not a ramekin) of beans which were the tastiest thing on the plate, que for toast (self toasting bread) was huge and no space to manoeuvre round ppl . no continental breakfast option just bit of fruit 4 choices, cereal (4 choices) warm milk , tea was like urgh!! dish water . I thought ld have toast as roast was poor, cheap bread , jars of jam were lovely but beads so cheap as soon as its buttered it collapsed and went soggy?
- Aimee_Jones84 (10/5): Excellent hotel - Recently stayed here while attending a concert in Vivary Park. Excellent hotel, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were immaculate and hotel well kept. Breakfast was excellent. Excellent central location, easy walking distance of train station, town centre and event location. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends/family and would definitely stay here again when visiting Taunton.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent place to stay. Close to railway station and town. Lovely breakfast, cooked to order.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely comfortable spacious room although lots of steep stairs to reach it. Friendly staff. Short walk in to Taunton.
- 622LynnC (10/5): Excellent weekend - We took our 86 & 96 aged parents for my sister's wedding and stayed at Blorenge House. My daughter's stayed with their families in the beautiful apartments. Mum & Dad had a four poster bed. A beautiful hotel. Staff & owner couldn't be more helpful. Grandchildren loved the pool. Breakfast was great. Such beautiful decor and some really interesting antique. Thoroughly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Week end break visiting friends.
Relaxed hotel with parking, convenient location for the town centre. Lovely room with a comfy 4 poster bed and views over the garden, though the shower room was quite small.
Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
- Kwan Wai (10/5): - Very traditional B&B at high standard. Stag are helpful and friendly. Highly recommended
- D (8/5): Nice stay at guest house - Good location about 9 minutes walk to station, area not noisy, nice selection of tea and coffee, and a nice pack of biscuits. I missed breakfast as I had a very early train so cannot comment on that.
- jetteson20 (10/5): A really good find. - Chose Blorenge House for a long weekend in order to explore Taunton on foot and by car. Location was perfect to meet these needs. Stayed in a self-catering apartment which was very spacious, clean, comfortable and impressively well appointed. Also, plenty of hot water and central heating. To be able to come ‘home’ each day added enormously to the enjoyment of the visit.
Despite being on a main road, traffic noise was not a problem and slept well (although the double bed was slightly on the hard side for my particular preference).
Mein host, George, was welcoming, friendly and very much ‘on hand’, I got the impression, should there have been a problem (which there wasn’t). Also had the pleasure of meeting Dad, Phil, on my departure.
A well-run family concern who are attentive to the needs of their guests. Will have no hesitation in staying there on my next trip and would happily recommend to others.
- Peter (8/5): Good for the cricket and a good brekie! - I imagine during the season this is a fine spot to stay to watch the cricket. Lovely decor and very friendly staff, breakfast treat me very well. Bathroom not the biggest.
- theoc844 (10/5): Spacious apartment in town centre - A return visit for a weekend in an apartment in this distinctive hotel. I have now stayed in one bedroom and two apartments here. Everything is clean and well-maintained but it is the staff who are the outstanding feature. Every one of them has been courteous, helpful, friendly, and proactive. WE liked it so much this year that we have booked two weekends for next year.
- Lorraine (10/5): Blorenge House is a great choice in Taunton. - Blorenge House is a great place to stay in Taunton. It is located in an old mansion, so the rooms have high ceilings and are not a basic hotel room. It was comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the location is excellent. It is a 10 minute easy walk to the train station ( our main objective) , an easy walk from the Avis office if you are dropping off a car, and a very easy walk into the city center where there are many interesting restaurants. The owner and staff were also very helpful; they even carried our bags up the stairs. We would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Stayed due to a wedding within the area. - Lots of potential not yet reached..... effort is being made to improve the hotel experience etc however it is not yet value for money.
Can see that if this effort to improve continues then it will be a quality hotel and worthy of quality prices.
- RogerJ333 (10/5): No frills, just good value. - Blorenge House is a 15 min walk from the railway station, walk towards the town and Staplegore Road is the main road which makes a dog leg conedtion on your right.
Blorenge House is a large victorian house which seems to have a more modern anex on one side. There is a garden with small swimming pool at the rear.
My room, No 8, was at the rear and was very quiet so I slept well.
There was a good selection for breakfast which was served from 7:30 am.
On the way from the station I passed numerous foreign eating places but , on turning into Staplegore Road, I spotted The Kings Arms which had a good selection of dishes, well cooked and served by pleasant staff-recommended.
I would stay at Blorenge House again.
- Gourmandsouth (8/5): Excellent Stay - I stayed here for two nights, being joined by four family members for the second night. I had a very clean superior room at the back overlooking the pool, so it was nice and quiet. Breakfast was good. The ‘hotel’ doesn’t have a bar or restaurant, but there are plenty nearby. I’ll happily return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice central hotel - Classic hotel in the middle of Taunton. Large, comfortable family room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): ok place to stay - Clean and friendly atmosphere. poor internet signal and bizarrely the lounge was locked at 9.30 in the evening so nowhere to sit apart from my room
- Ronnie90 (6/5): Pleasant enough - We stayed here some years ago and it seems nothing has changed. If you want a town centre hotel within easy reach of the shops and with pubs and restaurants nearby then this will be suitable. It is probably closer to a B&B than a hotel but it does come with a pool in the garden.
It's close to the cricket ground and the station so the location can't be faulted.
As mentioned elsewhere, the rooms are somewhat dated but appear to be clean. Ours was of a good size but the bathroom was a bit of a squash - shower only. Breakfast was okay. We booked direct and weren't asked to pay anything up front which makes a nice change these days.
- 277alw (10/5): Gem - Lovely little gem of a hotel I found great for the cricket. Clean, friendly with a great pool all you could ask for. Will definitely be returning with company. Thank you for making my stay so pleasant.
- Lee (10/5): Great hotel to stay if watching the cricket. - Great hotel. Took my dad for a treat to watch the cricket in Taunton. Walking distance to the ground, so excellent location. Plenty of places to eat on the walk back to the hotel. Breakfast was lovely, room clean, perfect for an overnight stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely spacious room, with nice large window. Excellent location for town. Parking available
- Mark (8/5): Nice find - A more old-fashioned hotel in what has been a substantial period house, a semi-detached that has been unified as one.
- Melvin (8/5): Day at the cricket - Somerset - Day at Somerset cricket the hotel was an ideal place to stay as within 10 minutes walk and parking provided by the hotel. Room was very good overall and the service provided was also good and helpful
