Guest Reviews
- Steven (6/5): - Kitchen electric stovetop Non Functional/ Sewage Smell from Bathroom
- Barbara (6/5): - Not a bad stay for the price point. Mattress was very hard.
- Aaron (10/5): - Short walk to the city centre, comfortable and clean accommodation at a reasonable rate. Parking secure undercover was €13 per day. Continental breakfast was good value as was service. Staff recommended some great restaurants nearby. Would stay there again.
- Zoey (2/5): - Terrible wouldn’t stay here. If you want to feel safe and clean don’t stay here because our key card worked for our door and our neighbours and even when locking the door on the inside staff can still enter.
The water came out brown and clearly a problem for a while because the tiles and sink where the water hit was stained a darker colour.
Condition of the cupboards and shelf’s broken hanging off and chip board exposed, windows cobwebs in and out, curtains so stained.
Pretty awful stay, hotel were told about the issues but change of key and a spray down the plug holes which done nothing was the solution they don’t care once they got your money what can you do.
Internet awful.
- Irene (10/5): - Despite the closeness of the train, the hotel is quite good located…just ten minutes walking from the centre of the city. My room was quite basic, however large and clean…breakfast also was enough considering the price, only missing a fruit.
The staff are always there to answer questions, helping with whatever is needed, and greeting you at any time.
- james (6/5): - had twin beds in separate corners of the room. Older and not updated. Actually had to check in at one motel and walk a block to the next.
- Rajesh (6/5): - there are pretty basic amenities missing in the room like cleaning cloth for kitchen. utensils are too less....kitchen area is too small to even cook a small meal. But the location is pretty good and convenient. The staff is also good. Price vs facility is not bad.
- Nick (10/5): - I like the fact that my room had a kitchen
- Sabrina (10/5): - Wonderful short stay!
- Abdon (6/5): - Average. Room was very simple. It felt more like a hostel.
- Mirna (10/5): - Excelente ubicación y atención. Te permiten dejar las maletas
- Julie (8/5): - Great location and very helpful staff! I arrived early and they let me put my bags in storage. The room was fully stocked and very spacious. The property overall could use some renovations but otherwise it was a pleasant stay.
- Jennifer Anne (8/5): - Simple room that was pretty big and had the added benefit of a kitchenette. Perfectly ok for the one night i stayed and about a 10 minute walk from the stsrion.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was my first international trip so the hotel was nice, safe and lovely.
- Buket (8/5): - Otelin konumu gayet iyiydi. Oda karanlıktı ve ısıtma çalışmadığı için çok üşüdük. Otel hastane gibi kokuyordu sadece. Kahveler her gün yenilenebilirdi. Kahvaltısı eksik olduğu için almadık
- JOSE FABIAN (10/5): Lugar que cumplie solo para dormir - Lugar economico a unas cuadras de la estación del tren pero se.ve un poco underground
- Ilias (6/5): - The whole facilities need renovation and many improvements. Many extras that you have to pay (35€ for cleaning???).
Dusty rooms with webs hanging in many spots. Very bad internet quality.
- Judith (10/5): - Walkable from the train station and into the city centre.
Facilities in my room were excellent, I found the microwave especially useful.
Breakfast was basic and good.
Staff friendly and helpful.
- christopher (10/5): Great value, excellent room design. - Simple, clean, excellent value for money in a good location near the railway station.
- Farjana (10/5): - it is good place to stay the Employed helped me a lot
- Mohammed (2/5): Bad experience - It is a very dirty and dusty room. I stayed 6 days no clean bedding and the room wasn’t clean. I have to book an extra day make 7 before my room was clean.
Poor service and the atmosphere is gross.
- Robert (6/5): - 5 hair dryers to share in the entire hotel!! Kettle not functioning properly. Bath towel with large hole in it. Broken stool in kitchenette.
- pato (8/5): - Good value for the price that we paid. A bit away from all the actions.
- Frank (10/5): Awesome staff - The staff at City Residence Strasbourg was very welcoming and helpful during my stay. Room was clean and spacious and glad that it had a kitchenette. Location was within a 10-minute walk to the train station and five minutes to Place des Halles for all my grocery needs. Thank you again.
- Koki (8/5): - You can walk from the central station, with easy access. And please remember The hotel has a minimum of amenities not good for long stays.
- Mary (8/5): - The staff are nice and welcoming. There is no hairdryer, shower area is small and old. Closet space is awkwardly put.
- Cherish (10/5): - We found this accommodation very useful. Very easy to walk to the Christmas markets. Friendly shop opposite to get snacks and drinks for the apartment. The kitchen was very useful indeed as we have a 5 month old and needed the kettle and microwave to wash and Sterilise his bottles.
- Cassidy (4/5): Could be better, could be worse - It was dusty. Staff was super sweet and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pleasant multilingual staff at reception. Clean, comfortable and well-located, but small. Bathroom shower booth that some could find too small in which to turn around. It seems to function partly as a student facility but it was quiet and sleep was easy. Price and experience ok for 2-night stay.
- Alexei (8/5): - A simple accommodation facility 13-15 min walk from the center and train station of Strasbourg. Cleaning maybe once every few days. The room has a stove, fridge, dishes, kettle, tea and instant coffee. The rooms are rather tired. Sometimes it can be noisy as the rooms are not soundproofed.
- Necmedin (8/5): - All went well, except it was a little cold but overall good for few nights of sleep.
- Rongfu (8/5): - It is located at a noisy and poor area. It is quite far from attraction sites.
- John (6/5): - The bathroom smells, suspicious defective drainage vent system
- Emma (4/5): - Smelt like vinegar
- Sharon (8/5): - Just an overnight stay. Picked it as close to train station . Easy walking to main cathedral. We slept well and staff booked a taxi for us in the morning. It was cold though and could have used a blanket. No heat yet turned on.
- Hunter (8/5): - We returned to our room door left open twice. Despite ensuring it was closed when we left. Walls were quite thin and it sounded like someone was opening our door anytime someone on our floor opened a door at night.
Overall nice stay, just had some concerns about safety.
- Edward (6/5): - Staff on front desk were very helpful and spoke excellent english.
- Barbara (8/5): - The property was well maintained and the staff extremely helpful. I enjoyed the use of an equipped kitchen with a microwave and hotplates. I think this hotel is underrated and is better than many 3 Star hotels that i have stayed in.
- Paul (6/5): Decent low budget accommodation. - Apartment style good value accommodation. Main bedroom was good however pull out sofa bed not particularly comfortable.
- TAI (10/5): - Love the stay. They offer free storage luggage. Highly recommended!!!
- Nigel (2/5): - The only upside about this property is its proximity to the train station. The property has no air-conditioning and is rather worn out. The reception was unhelpful, and refused to give us another towel for the room even though the room that was booked for 2 people had only 1 bath towel. Would not recommend and definitely not worth the price.
- Ashley (4/5): - The basin plug was broken and the shower door was broken. However, it was clean and the staff are friendly. The breakfast buffet was okay.
The apartment was fairly quiet, just a few loud, young German people partying during the wee hours.
- Eva (8/5): - Great position and everything in walking distance.
- Rajeshkumar (6/5): - At booking time it should have stated which hotel was booked
The one where we, my partner and I stayed seemed average. Had the choice been given we would have opted for the larger first hotel in the same street which seemed nicer and more modern
- Elena (10/5): - The room was really nice
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Only 10 minutes walk from train station, 15 minutes from the Cathedral, and 25 minutes to the Le Petite France with the canals and beautiful structures
- James (8/5): - My room had a microwave, cooking hob and a refrigerator. Perfect for a self catering holiday.
- Uwe (8/5): - This hotel is good value for money. It is very well located near the trains station. We liked that it offered three beds so our family could stay in one room. The hotel is very basic, a bit like a dorm, but offers parking for a small fee.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Property is fine but there are issues - Overall the property was fine and specious but there was no warm water in the room. We contacted reception a guy came and said it’ll be fixed in 2 hours which didn’t. Next morning we again had to go and complain finally they gave us the key of adjoining room to use toilet. Overall we missed 1 train and had to catch next one because of this
- Yulia (2/5): - Place to avoid. The worst we ever had. I read reviews but I couldn't believe that it can be that bad in Strasbourg. It's dirty, old, stinky...It's not even safe to stay there ...Sink is broken, water was dripping, even top water smells bad. Dust is everythere. It completly messed up our vacation.
- Jordana (6/5): Okay in Strasbourgh - Hotel was well located to the city centre and the shopping area and Christmas markets. The property is old and not very clean. It is big enough though.
- Isobel (8/5): - This was a good basic hotel, but in need of maintenance. Excellent room size for 3 people, with a good kitchenette.
Carrefour supermarket close by which is handy.
Parking was off site - but an easy 10 minute walk.
Hotel was about 15 minute walk to the centre of town, and close to the large shopping centre.
- Christopher (4/5): - This property is in need of repair. The facet in the sink was broken and fell off when we tried to use it and water went all over. The shower head support was falling out of the wall and made it hard to use. The floor was filthy and we had to keep to the window open because it was so hot and there was no temperature control. Everything was in disrepair. The location was good and the staff were friendly but the facility needs a lot of work.
- Tracy (8/5): Strasbourge - It was clean and the staff were fantastic, especially the young lady that checked us in the afternoon we arrived! The bed we slept it should be replaced. It sunk in the middle and was not very comfortable. I'm sure they could do better on this aspect of the hotel's improvement.
- Teresa (8/5): - I like that we had kitchen and a fridge available in our room.
What I did not like was that there was only one small mirror in the room and it was located in the bathroom. I wish they had another mirror, long mirror, so you can see you entire body to check yourself and the clothes you are wearing. Also, there was no room in the bathroom to place make up items and tooth brushes so shelves are needed for that purpose and there is plenty of room for that.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room clean but in need of upgrade.
TV didn’t work. fridge was erratic ( either everything frozen, or defrosted.)
Staff helpful and friendly.
Location ideal.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Stay was ok. - Staff were nice and location was amazing but the cleanliness was sadly lacking. The floors were very dirty and the sink and shower were clogged. Not the worst stay by far but could have been a bit better.
- Tsz Leung (4/5): - Pros
-10 mins walk from the train station
-Fridge
-Receptionist is very helpful
Cons
-Smell in the corridor
-Lift is broken
-Cleaning staff entered my room twice when i was in the room
-Noise isolation is not so good
-Old condition of the room
- Fung (8/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only one thing, the lift was out of service through my four- day stay. But the staff were helpful Nd arranged for a lower room for us and helped take my luggage up and downstairs in our checkin and checkout. That’s great.
- viorel (4/5): - The elevator was not working and we had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs for four floors.
If you wanted someone to clean your room, you had had to pay extra.
- Charles (2/5): Filthy, unkept, in disrepair. Stay somewhere else! - This property was filthy! The bathroom had a persistent sewer odor. There was mold in the shower. The shower wand holder was broken so we had to hold the shower wand in one hand while trying to rinse and shower with the other. The elevator was out of order. Paint was peeling from all around the room. Hotels.com should drop this hotel from booking through their website!
- Mary (8/5): - Lift not working
- Jovana (6/5): Ok for the price - You’ll get what you paid. It is ok for this price and for the position in Strasbourg since everything is pretty much close
- GUY (6/5): Very basic, very dirty - On arrival the hotel had not got my booking (due to a "system error") so I spent the first 30 mins walking back and forward between their two buildings at either end of the street. I eventually got my room key. The room was incredibly basic - it had clearly not been updated in many years. But the main issue was that it wasn't particularly clean. I found a long hair on my bed, there was mould all around the sink, the kitchen bin was covered in grease and bits of old food (see photos). The staff were friendly but this was not a good stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): For short term exchange or travel it’s ok - It is like a studio so it is useful for business or short term exchange because you can cook for yourself.
I travel alone and only stay for two nights so it is ok for me.
There’s a radiator in the bathroom that helps dry your clothes quickly so that you can get on the roads again.
The location is ok as it is close to the city and has supermarkets nearby.
However, the condition of the studio is not fancy but some parts can be seen scratched. There’s no air con but if you know when to close the curtains then it’s fine. The kitchenette is a little old but it has everything basic for cooking.
- Karen (10/5): - Great location and helpful staff. Very clean and the bed was comfortable. We wanted something close to the Christmas markets and this was perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Need mantainance.
- Ian (6/5): Very disappointing stay with health hazards. - Distance from main station was more than highlighted, approx. 1.2 kms.Check-in process on 27th September with the longer dark haired girl was a great experience. We greatly appreciated her attempting to fulfil our requests.Upon entering the studio that is approx. 18 sqm we noticed that the cleanliness was not satisfactory. The bathroom was dirty and lived down with black mould forming in the shower for a while that the management clearly does not bother with (checking the work of the cleaners that they do at other serviced apartment complexes in Europe quite strictly)despite it being a serious health hazard. The mattresses were very old and too used (broken in the middle deeply). The kitchen was lack of basic things. One had hardly any space to move around in the whole room.Trains were quite noisy all day long outside as well as on Sunday night some weird shady people were grouping outside at benches and were shouting at 01:00/02:00 for hours. To be honest it was a nightmare to us,we were seriously considering checking out before we were due to as the apartment was below the level of hostel rooms all over Europe!Dirty towels and rubbish thrown around all over the hallway whilst the cleaning ladies were doing their job.Funky smell in the hallways.Wifi hardly worked during our whole stay so we had to search for a cafe shop to work at kilometres away!Toilet on the ground floor dirty...with only cold water!Abrupt too rude untrained receptionists shouting!Dr. I. Seymour ד"ר א. סימור
- Luc (8/5): Good standard studio in the centre of Strasbourg - A good relation price/quality. The room was large, the cooking area sufficient to have small meals. Only the bathroom looked a bit tired and needed better lighting while Wifi was weak in parts of the room. Staff was very friendly and flexible. Wifi was
- Andrew (8/5): Decent location and facilities for the price - Stayed here for a long weekend. Apartment was as described, with all the facilities needed for a short or long stay, though some aircon would have been welcome as the apartment was very warm. Location was decent, a relatively quiet area but close to the main station. Arrived later than planned, so I had to check in at another location, but it was just along the street, so it was no big problem. Keycard stopped working after my first day and I had to get reception to sort it which was a minor nuisance, luckily it happened during the hours reception was open, or I would have been locked out of my room. Had a pleasant stay otherwise though, and the price was very reasonable for the location and facilities.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not at all happy with the condition of the room - Just don't bother - we were just happy as it was the last day of our trip so we just needed a place to sleep for one night. The entire building smelled funny and the rooms smelled old. The bathroom was disgusting and basically falling apart. Just don't.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For £40 per night it's not going to be luxurious, but it was clean, safe, and conveniently located.
- Ahmed (10/5): - Only no have Air-conditioning
- Alexander (8/5): good value for money - Everything was good except the fact that there was no A/C and it was very hot in the room. I should have noticed in the description that there is no A/C in the rooms but apparently it was a bad surprise for me. But very good value for money
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is nice. Is close to the Gare Central, i was on city residence with 2 stars, but they also have another property with 3 stars.
Everything looks nice exept the windows and curtains- they're not cleaned.
The room is spacious, I had my peace, no one was entering during my stay in the room, I made coffee in the mornings, not to be late to conference,
To sum up, it was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice simple place to stay. Has the essentials for a comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We stay for 2 days. There were no room service. The refrigerator was stink and there is no air condition. The hotel is near the train station which is convenience.
- Tiha (10/5): Very compfy hotel - City Residence Access Strasbourg- perfectly located in the heart of Strasbourg . We had all we need in our room.It was big enough with an equiped kitchen so u can make urself food or coffee
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is just a basic, clean room with heat. WiFi works very well. Rooms have a mini fridge and microwave. The radiator puts out heat.
- Boeu (2/5): - Bathroom was smelt of sewage. Each time we would shower , water would leak out all over the floor due to no shower screens. The shower curtain didn't do much. Cutlery were dirty, no tea towel supplied. Kettle needs to be replaced as could see a built up what looks like mineral deposits. Will not be returning to this place.
- Amanda (10/5): - These apartments are not are a ways from the train station and downtown. Near enough to a large mall and supermarket. However the price makes them a great value for a place with kitchen to stay. The studios were a basic size, wifi worked well, and the staff was friendly. This worked out well for us.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall a reasonably good valued hotel ,good breakfast & friendly staff.Disappointing bathroom smelt of damp & shower curtain too short led to wet floor.also our party was split between the 2 hotels 1&2 this is not easy to see when booking on their website, as both have the same address, but 200m apart.
- Paul (8/5): - Like these hotels that have a microwave and hob in the rooms, it's not as good as apartment city in arlon, there were signs up apologising for the refurbishment work. The room did have a plug socket that was falling out of the wall. But the hotel staff were very good and it's not bad for the price.
- ED (4/5): Asked first if the bedrooms ´ve been refurbished - we changed twice the bedroom for the cleanliness, we had little animals in the bedroom, the walls were dirty... but the staff helped us offering other bedroom.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love this hotel! For such a good price, it's a huge room. Housekeeping is extra and we decided not to pay for it, but we were only there for 3 nights and if there had been more, I might have paid. It's a really great location, too
- Emma (8/5): Functional and clean - It’s super convenient but nothing in the direct vicinity food or drink use but is functional and clean.
- Dyan (6/5): If you need a place to just sleep on this is it - The location was fine, the city centre can be explored by foot and you can walk from the train station. It was also in a quiet neighborhood.
The amenities need improvement, the shower had only a curtain and the water spills/leaks on the floor so you might slip and injure yourself. There was no hairdryer in the room and you had to borrow it from the reception. It’s winter so hairdryer is a must when washing your hair. The main light also started flickering on our second night.
- Timothy (8/5): Clean; comfortable ; no frills but great location - The hotel was in a great location We were able to walk to city center without difficulty.
The staff were friendly and helpful in providing directions for parking. We found the best place to park given the height of our van (1.92 m) was the Woodli Garage next to the train station. This was a five minute walk back to hotel ; but very easy to traverse And the hotel provided a discount for each of the in town parking garages allowing for a 24 he stay at 11 euros ; which we found very reasonable given the inner city location. Street parking h would be arround 36 euro.
The rooms were clean. Not spectacular but efficient. We felt a very good price close to all of the zentrum attractions
I would recommend this hotel for a no frills business or pleasure stay. It's a good deal for the amount spent. I will use this hotel again in the future
- Eleanor (8/5): Strasbourg - Very good value apartment with all amenities. Breakfast is available or you can make your own in the kitchen area. Felt quite safe walking around the area as a female solo traveller
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a great location! Huge room with a kitchen and huge bathroom. Would stay there again.
- Rob (6/5): - close to train station and shopping centre
friendly reception
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay stay considering price - Overall, okay. Booked this place for price and availability of kitchen. Room was like the pictures but old and broken. Cooking pot, pan, plates and other utensils were available for guest to cook. Towels provided but during stay, the housekeeping requires extra charge. Electric kettle was so dirty. There were white things floating inside with old water. It seems like no one care to look and clean for months. Kitchen glass induction was broken and hotel only tried to put silicone to keep them together for it to function. Only one side worked. Toilet was leaking where water doesnt fill up after flush. I had to flush couple more times to fix that. I pointed that out to hotel staff but they dont seem to care. Mattress was solid hard. I was okay but people who prefer softer might not like it. Neighborhood seemed safe and quiet.
- Janice (10/5): Cultural Whisper - We are train travelers and enjoyed the view of the train tracks from our window. The hotel was only 100 yards from the station. We en joyed walking the town and the pubs. Great experience.
- Eunjung (8/5): - Old but quite clean
- Appinhighlander (6/5): - Great stopping point, not too difficult to find, on-site parking. Reminded me of a modern university dormitory (from the 1990s).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is a great location for accessing the tourist area of Strasbourg. Our room was very quiet.
