Guest Reviews
- Christina (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): A gorgeous guesthouse for a restful, restorative break - I had a wonderful stay at this guesthouse! The owners are very kind and helpful, with excellent recommendations for beautiful local beaches, lovely local dining spots and a fabulous nearby bakery. I was also able to rent snorkelling equipment and an electric bike from them – which I’d recommend, if you don’t have access to a car. It was great to be able to zip around on it to various beautiful parts of the coast, and Kabira (the village the guesthouse is in) is an ideal place to stay, for doing so. Dinner and breakfast at the guesthouse were also delicious :) In addition, my room was spotless and very comfortable; had such a restful and restorative time.
- ITO (10/5): -
- Adriana (9/5): - Awesome hosts
- Sommer (7/5): - You can rent electric bikes.
- KELLY (10/5): Good value facility in near Kabira Bay but because of the season restaurants had irregular hours.best to have a car if y - Staff was friendly and very helpful. Advertised breakfast was available but it was not available during my stay.
- Geeske (10/5): -
Lit confortable Rien
- Stella (10/5): 100% recommend - Great place, very clean and super nice staff. Well located on this beautiful island. 100% recommend! -
- Mateusz (9/5): Miła obsługa, blisko piękne plaże, brak większych sklepow w okolicy. - Obsługa hotelu była 10/10. Lokalizacja 9/10 jeśli szukasz ładnych plaż, 2/10 jeśli planujesz chodzenie po marketach i mieście. 2 malutkie sklepy w najbliższej okolicy otwarte w określonych dniach i godzinach.
- Anne-Sylvie (10/5): Chill vibes only :) - This guesthouse is an absolute gem in the heart of Kabira Bay.
What a wonderful stay! This lovely guesthouse offered an incredible breakfast — varied, beautifully presented, and a true feast for both the eyes and the palate. In the evening, the homemade ramen was simply amazing. The hosts were so welcoming that we felt at home. (Also the beds were super confortable!)
Perfectly located in the breathtaking Kabira Bay area, the guesthouse is surrounded by fantastic snorkeling spots just a short drive away, as well as plenty of great local restaurants. We’ll miss this place dearly and can’t wait to come back someday. We’re leaving with unforgettable memories and so much gratitude for this beautiful place. Nothing

- Bailly (5/5): - The staff is nice. It's clean.
- Ilaria (9/5): Perfekt - Die Freundlichkeit , die Lage in der Kariba Bucht .Alles sehr sauber , Perfekte Ramen im Restaurant des Hotels . Einzelzimmer ohne eigenes Bad
- Luca Stefano (10/5): - Very friendly and cool staff -
- celine (8/5): -
- Núria (10/5): - Personal molt amable, amigable i informatiu.
- Sara (10/5): Excellent - The entire staff was very welcoming and helpful in helping us book restaurants and snorkeling trips. The common areas and the room were very clean. The location was excellent in Kabira Bay. The Japanese-style breakfast was very good.
- Laura (10/5): Lovely stay, I would return - Ystävällisen perheen omistama hotelli. Tulisin uudelleen.
- Matt (9/5): Great value for money and very close to the Kabira Bay - Staff very kind and friendly, room confortable, great view from the hamac on the roof especially at night. Very close to the beach at Kabira bay, and very delicious kitchen with noodles. Nothing
- YUJI (7/5): -
- Wan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is just perfect!
- Roman (10/5): Great choice to stay on Ishigakijima! - I enjoyed my stay at Lulaliya. The hotel location is good (not far from the bus stop on the Kabira Bay), the personnel are very polite and friendly, and all the amenities have been provided. Price/Quality ratio met my expectations. You can have dinner on site (namely ramen which was delicious)! E-bike rental is also available and convenient for reaching several beaches nearby.
I marked comfort level as good (not excellent), but that is solely due to staying at a room with public shower and toilet. It can save you some money - otherwise just stay in a room with your own bath.
Good choice for those staying in Kabira Bay of Ishigakijima! None! Everything met my expectations.
- Yusei (10/5): Where you spend a quality time far from the cities. - Staff super friendly, also the restaurant that is on the building are amazing menu’s.
Possibility to rent a e-bikes and fins for snorkeling.
Room just nice and mattress super comfy. None
- Vu (7/5): Good - Clean batbroom and toilets
Near the bus stop
Near some good restaurants like sushi Jinbei, Pinacolada backery shop but you need to check carefully as the shops can be closed any day
I joined a snorkeling tour from an agency called Happy and they came pick me up at the hotel. There is their contacts at the hotel so you can book if you are interested in
Staffs are friendly The toilet is downstairs so it is not convenient at night. It's quite scary to wake up at night and go down to the toilet.
The bed is not comfortable for me at all. I'm small with around 50 kg but I can feel the spring of the bed and it's not flat
Room is quite small. I'd rather to choose a hostel to be honest
The location is far from any tourist attractions, except for Kabira bay
There is a nearby beach but you are not allowed to swim there
Make sure you have car or someone to pick you up if you want to check some locations
Hardly any restaurants open in the evening
It's isolated and not many things to do if you are alone.
Note: if you are resident living in Japan, having residence card, and a living address in Japan, hotels can check your residence card for some information like name, address and vaid date. But you can refuse if they ask to take a photo of your residence card. Hotels in general do not allow to take photos of residence cards for those who reside in Japan.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Haruki and his team were so welcoming & warm, we felt at home right away. Lulaliya is beautiful and kept very clean. The room was very spacious & we loved the little balcony- great for relaxing in the evening!
One day when we had booked diving but the company was a bit late collecting us, Haruki kindly drove us to the dive shop so we weren't late!
There is a ramen bar on site which is open in the evenings and we had breakfast one day- both really delicious! Would recommend!
It was the perfect location to explore Kabira bay & the surrounding beaches. We felt so relaxed after our stay! There are plenty of bars & restaurants in Kabira to enjoy. N/A
- Steffi (10/5): cozzy homie and great location w good energy - How kind everyone is and location nothing
- Bayram (8/5): Nice place to stay in Ishigaki - The location was very good Kabira beach is a walkingvdustanxe but you can not swim, you need to walk little bit more. Beautiful sea!
I rented an E bike znd made 25km.
There are 3, 4 restaurants near by, and a great bakery Pinacolada, really amazing bread and pastries.
Staff is very helpful The matras could have been better, I was feeling tge springs of the matrass.
- Maalpa (10/5): Exceptional - The Family that runs the place are the best. Really make you feel home and help in any possible way to make your stay confortable.
Kabira is a great place surrounded by nature and beautiful beaches.
- Julie (10/5): Great stay, would recommend and stay again! - Great location, very close (3min walking) to Kabira bay and to a bus stop. Other beaches are also quite close (around 20min bus to Yonehara Beach and 2km by foot to Sukuji Beach).
The staff was very welcoming and super helpful. Good room, good rooftop view (sunset/stargazing) and good noodle shop within the hotel. Hot/cold drinking water available as well as fridge and microwave. There are some restaurants within a walking distance. There is also a washing machine and dryer available at a small price.
- Dillon (10/5): Great location and amazing hosts. Will definitely be back. Also, great local restaurants around - It was very beautiful and in a great location
- Jillian (10/5): Thank you Hiroki for making my stay amazing :) - Has everything you need! Very comfortable, great amenities, amazing location and lovely staff. Wish I could stay forever! Nothing, I think it is great value for what you pay.
- Sarah (10/5): Friendly, helpful, clean and great location for pretty beaches! - Great friendly place for a short stay. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. They had good English.
The town is quiet so having the ramen shop attached was a bonus. They also have electic bikes to hire. This was great fun and easy way to see all the local beaches. Bed was a little springy and having the bathroom down stairs wasnt ideal.... but thats just me being picky. The hotel was great!
- Birgitt (10/5): Great place, very nice staff - The view from my room, the size of the room was perfect. The staff are so nice people, very helpful with everything. I rented an electric bike great to get around. I felt very comfortable.
Breakfast was great, in the evenings they serve Noodlesoup (very tasty) but there are also other restaurants, and a nice Café.
Kabira is a great place to stay.
- Yuka (10/5): - Great location, great food, clean and fun interior. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to the wonderful staff. Thank you!
- Stu (10/5): - Staff was super friendly and accommodating.
- Mario (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evgenii (9/5): One of the cheapest yet really nice places to stay in the Kabira Bay area - First some contecst: I traveled solo, spent a week on Ishigaki and my single goal was diving. The price for a single room with shared facilities was very appealing and looking back I'm inclined to say it was well worth it.
Key points:
- the room was small (which is always the case for budget stays in Japan) but ok for one person
- AC worked well, bed was comfy enough
- your room will have power even if you leave, so you can charge up your stuff also during the day
- shared facilities include showers and bathrooms that were clean and in quite good condition
- the staff was very nice, I wish they could speak a little more English
- good breakfast is available at extra cost
- the property is not far from a couple of dive shops
Overall I was pleasantly surprised for how well the place turned out given the modest price. If shared facilities isn't your thing they also have rooms with private faclities. It's a bit remote and the taxi rate from / to airport will bite you even it's only a half-hour ride or so, but presumably you're going to Kabira Bay for a reason. Far from benig a dealbreaker but the location really could use a 7/11 or Family Mart style store somewhere in the vicinity. Currently there is none. Staff was kind to provide a map with places to shop / go out to eat, though. Was a nice supplement to google maps.
Also be aware that in this somewhat remote location cafe / restraunts operate on their own schedule which means they may be closed on some weekdays and during some hours of the day. It gets really bad on sundays when most places likely won't be open at all.
- Gal (8/5): Excellent staff, clean and in a great location - Excellent helpful staff. Mattress was bad
- Sandra (10/5): Lovely stay near Kabira Bay ♥️ - Amazing, super friendly staff, EPIC RAMEN 😁 -
- Patrick (5/5): Good base of operations for diving and Kabira Bay, but staff left us stranded with no way home! - The property is 2-3 blocks from the bus stop and center of Kabira Bay. You can easily walk to about 5 or 6 nice restaurants, and the Bay is 5 minutes away. The bay has a great view, but no swimming. Rooms are very small. You are a few blocks from the bay, so don't expect nice views, although there is a view of the bay from the rooftop. Breakfast in the morning was fine, but we opted for a nearby cafe on our third day, which had better food at cheaper prices. It's not difficult to catch a bus from the airport to Kabira Bay, but once you are there, getting around, even just to swim, requires a taxi or car. The hotel staff were mostly friendly, but we asked them to call a taxi for us to visit Yonehara Beach, about 10 km away. We went snorkeling there in the afternoon (fantastic) and then ran into problems catching a taxi home at 6:30 PM. The cafe we were at couldn't find us a taxi, so they called the hotel. The hotel staff just told us to walk home! At this point it was getting dark, and walking 10km in beach sandals on a dark road is not safe or reasonable.
The staff said he didn't have a car, which is understandable, but a hotel should either have a # for transport they can call within reasonable hours (6:30 PM should qualify) or at least warn you when you are leaving that transport is going to be difficult after a certain time. If it wasn't for the ride home we got from the WONDERFUL owner of Yashiya Juice, things could have turned out badly, and we would be writing a much different review. Still, I wouldn't recommend staying here based on that experience. It didn't seem to bother them at all that they just abandoned us 10km away at dusk, and went ahead and charged us the snorkeling rental fee. Paying for a staffed hotel should be a superior experience to renting an AirBnb where you are on your own.
While the restaurants around Kabira Bay were very good, I might opt to stay near the city center or port next time. We thought having Kabira Bay as a base of operations would be preferable, and it was certainly peaceful and nice, but I think next time a day trip or two to scuba in Kabira Bay, take the glass bottom boat tour, and have a meal, would be all we would want there. I have visited dozens of countries and don't give bad reviews easily but the lack of service from the staff regarding transport was a huge negative.
- Simsek (10/5): Super friendly and helpful staff, amazing location and value ! - Super friendly and helpful staff, amazing location and value !
- Asa (8/5): Very good -
- Alessandro (10/5): Incredibly positive stay! - This family run guesthouse is lovely. We were greeted with the biggest smiles and so much kindness even before we got out of our taxi. They carried our luggage to our room before explaining everything to us in English and giving our the best welcome (including a tour of the building).
The room was perfectly adequate, super clean, and has all you need, including a balcony where you can sit, and a hanging line for wet clothes or swimwear.
Breakfast was delicious, healthy and so complete! Great value and fully cooked from scratch!
They helped us hire electric bicycles and were always so so kind and helpful, with anything we needed. Just so much positive energy and an amazing attitude and feeling!
There is a rooftop with hammocks that guests can use, and it’s perfect to watch the stars at night, even if there are some lights from the town around the building.
Also the location is perfect as it’s right in the middle of Kabira Bay, close to the beach, to all the restaurants and cafes and to any tours/diving you might book. We hired electric bicycles which made getting to other beaches super easy and convenient.
Thank you for an amazing stay! Nothing!
- Shaul (10/5): One of the best places you can wish for. - Amazing place, run by a local couple. We stayed at the spacious apartment on the last floor and it was really good. I would recommend this place to anyone. Everything was great.
- Roberta (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (10/5): - Lovely staff. Lovely property.
- Daniela (9/5): Superb - The suite is very nice and spaced with design features. There is only one bathroom /WC available but it is very well organized. Very close to Kabira Bay (reachable on foot in 5 minutes) and with many restaurants within walking distance. The staff is super supportive and kind. The breakfast is very good and taste and it is homemade by the staff.
- Francesco (9/5): Superb - The real Japanese hospitality is 100% present in this place. Very good quality and variety. Helpful suggestions from the host. Very nice family owns the location!
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location. Amazing staff. Amazing room and patio. Beautiful roof deck to watch the stars at night. Close to a great bakery for breakfast and good coffee around the corner. The owners helped us rent bikes and gave us great restaurant recommendations. Ishigaki was a highlight of our trip. Such a special place. Nothing 😊
- Bijan (10/5): The best place in ishigaki!!! - Best host i could ask for, the nicest people, always helpful and welcoming, best place to stay in kabira!
- Heikkinen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): A good stay at this friendly place - The room was quite spacious and quiet. Well-located and friendly welcoming by the owner who took the time to share valuable tips. The breakfast is good enough as well. I was travelling alone and managed to walk to many places or take the bus to go to the Marina (to then stay at Iriomote) There was no atmosphere in the hostel, both nights I was there no bar (couldn't even buy a beer), and no restaurant. They close on Monday and Tuesday, I was not lucky. It made it hard/impossible to meet other travellers. The bathroom was very tiny but good water pressure.
- Thoburn (10/5): Very enjoyable and would love to come back one day - Perfect location in Kabira bay. Lovely guys that run it. We were made to feel very welcome straight away and given good advice on where to eat and places to visit.
- Amy (10/5): Hotel with a good vibe! - I wanted to snorkel around Kabira and I am glad I picked Lulaliya! Host Halu and staff Kousuke and Satoshi are friendly and want you to have a good time. Lodge is well located in town with walking distance to great restaurants, diving shop and the Kabira Bay. Hotel also has a restaurant so you can eat there if you feel like staying put after a long day. Had a great time! Nothing.
- Chenwei (9/5): Superb - Very nice location! Right across the street from Kabrina Bay. Super beautiful beach and view. The hosts were all so nice! It was very fun chatting together at night with other neighbors around the atea and other guests. The host even taught me how to play a traditional Japanese instrument. If you love chatting with local people and get to know each other in a nice small community, this is the place for you!
- Finn (10/5): Great stay in a lovely, quiet area - The staff were great, both Haruki and Satoshi were very helpful and lovely. It was also very close to nice beaches and other cool things. It was quite far away from supermarkets or convenience stores so make sure to stock up before heading to the accomodation.
- David (10/5): Great Memories made here - The best part of my stay here was the evenings at the noodle shop Satoshi runs. Drinking beer and awamori with locals and other guests every night was one of the highlights of my stay on the island. The rooms were basic, but that's all you need. At this place, you won't be spending your evening in the room. The staff were able to give good recommendations for local sights, secluded beaches, and souvenir shops, which I made good use of, and were able to help out when I had troubles with the rental car. Would give the guys an 11 if I could... Make sure to label your stuff in the fridge, I had a couple of my (cheap) beer taken
- Sangrawee (9/5): Superb - The owner and staffs are nice and friendly and you can watch the sunrise from rooftop or enjoy mountain/sea view it’s very peaceful. Don’t have a kitchen and would be nice if have a sink, toilet and shower room at each floor.
- Anna (10/5): Fantastic! - We loved the hotel! The location, the people, the room were fantastic! Thank you so much! I’ll definitely come back. The staff is so kind, friendly and caring. They helped us a lot, they even gave us their own bicycles for free when there were no bikes available for rent. I really want to come back.
- Lina (10/5): Delightful stay close to Kabira Bay - The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. Satoshi and Hiro treated us like old friends and not like customers! This created a lovely community atmosphere even with other guests. There is a delicious ramen that I highly recommend on the first floor, there’s also a coin laundry machines which was very helpful. You could also rebt electric bikes to get around the area. I would definitely return when I am in Ishigaki. N/A
- Mulligan (4/5): Disappointing - It is difficult to relax in a place where there is incessant banter and laughter mostly from the staff. Then at night there is a Ramen restaurant where friends come and talk and laugh in very loud voices. The loudest coming from the staff. I tried to check out early because of the noise, but they would not give me a refund, even though i know it is up to the discretion of the establishment.
- Daria (10/5): Perfect place and great hosts! - Location close to Kabira Bay and bus stop, clean rooms and super helpful hosts.
- Jiao (10/5): Great experience - Good value of money. Good location close to the Kabira bay. The owners are very nice, patient and warm! If anything, the private bathroom was no very spacious. But they also have larger bathroom on ground floor.
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (10/5): If you want a place to stay that allows privacy, yet the opportunity to be sociable - The location was great and the facilities were really comfortable, I felt at home.
Was the best staff I have experienced interacting with from all hotel stays in my life.
They were personable and genuinely cared that I was comfortable. Whenever I had a special need they did their best to help. Nothing.
- Hugo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norah (10/5): Great place in a nice little town - Very friendly and helpful staff (Kousuke). Clean room, and great food at the noodle shop. Lovely little place. While breakfast was very nicely prepared, it was just a Western style egg/sausage situation. I'm not sure if it is the same every morning, but if it was, I would get tired of that pretty quickly!
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xiao (4/5): Disappointing - Nice staff So far from city center. 1 hour bus ride. Expensive food. Dirty shower curtain, old towels, not near grocery stores.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were incredible! So friendly and welcoming. Nobody is left out! The room was very clean.
Rooms are basic but the atmosphere and staff more then make up for that.
The best beer I've had in Japan served in an ice cold glass.
- Teemu (10/5): Great little hotel with amazing staff - Great and helpful staff and a super nice ramen Izakaya (run by them) at the premises. Very close to the beautiful Kabira Bay.
- Florian (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hosts! Thank you so much for the great experience. We absolutely loved it.
- Nancy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beate (10/5): Awesome stay! - where should I start… a very warm welcome, tipps for Ishigaki Island higlights, easy-going, sooo much fun, very inviting, easy snorkeling rental, free parking in front of the house, included Ramen-Restaurant, nice bar in the house, roof top terrasse,…. everything was so nice, right from the heart and friendly - nothing to mention
- Sandrine (9/5): A comfortable and relaxing stay. - Close proximity to beach. Restaurant next door.
Breakfast at the property was delicious!
The staff were extremely helpful and recommended places to visit, best sunset spots and restaurants. Owner even organised electric bikes so we can go exploring further since we did not have a rental car.
- Yilun (8/5): Very good -
- Esther (10/5): Best place to stay when you visit Ishigaki! - If I could give Lulaliya and the crew here a million stars, I would.
Where do I even start? The cosy hostel is located in Kabira Bay, close to most beaches and diving tours, yet quiet and away from the hustle bustle.
Haruki and his team Satoshi and Kouseke were very welcoming and personable upon our first arrival. They showed us to our rooms and gave us great suggestions of places to see while in Ishigaki. They’re very patient and genuinely interested in our day.
The restaurant serves basic breakfast and amazing ramen dinner. Every night, locals, hostel guests and other visitors sit at tables, and the staff would mingle with us and bond with us. We’ve made so many friends from our 3 nights here thanks to the amazing friendly vibe Lulaliya serves up!
The rooms are small but there’s enough space for us to open up two large suitcases. We have our own bathroom and they have shared showers/toilets and washing machine and dryer downstairs.
We are sad to be leaving Ishigaki. Lulaliya has truly felt like a home away from home in our short stay here.
Thank you Haruki-san, Satoshi-san and Kousuke-san for your amazing hospitality. We can’t wait to return again in the future. There is nothing we can fault. It is the perfect getaway for a reasonable price.
- Andrea (10/5): A great place to visit Ishigaki - Reasons to go: great location (meters away from Kabira bay), the kindest staff one can think of, a rooftop that is great for star gazing, a small restaurant that serves excellent ramen and ice-cold beer, facilities and bus stop available nearby. I'd like to go back one day. Nothing to report.
- Darcy (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Really great, friendly accommodation in a convenient but quiet location in the town. Room was a good size and beds were comfortable. Staff were very friendly organising e-bikes for us to take out on our check-out day, and we also had breakfast which was good. Recommended very highly.
- Jordan (10/5): a great experience i would definitely recommend! the food was excellent, the staff were lovey, and the location was perf - the staff were above and beyond friendly! they really made an effort to be helpful and make me feel comfortable the mattress wasn’t the most comfortable thing i’ve ever slept on
- Krzysztof (9/5): Best budget option for your Ishigaki stay - Guest friendly staff, unbeatable price-to-standard ratio. When looking for a simple, yet reasonable stay at Ishigaki, this is the solution!
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is amazing and makes all the difference for this nice accommodation. Also the restaurant is very good. A lot of restaurants near by and easy to walk to both sides of the bay, eg to Seaside Hotel and watching the sunset. Will definitely come again…
- Andreas (10/5): Absolutely recommended! - Simple but suitable accommodation, especially considering the price. Friendliest stuff I ever experienced! They did everthing to make my stay comfortable. I was even said to leave :/
P.S.: They also cook and the Ramen is phenomenal!
- Nikolay (9/5): 2nd time at this hotel. Location is great. Friendly personnel. Car helps to enjoy Ishigaki further. - Hospitality of the staff. Nice atmosphere. n/a
- Alen (10/5): Simple, but great! - The staff is super friendly and always there to assist you. They make you feel at home.
Rooms are simple, but much larger than many other rooms in Japan which usually very tiny.
The location is perfect in a small town of Kabira Bay. Great beaches close by. Breakfast options do not include any western dishes or plates. But this was not an issue, there was a great cafe close by with pancakes, açai bowls, eggs etc.
- Stephanie000000 (9/5): Superb - Very nice place, the owners are very kind and try to help as much as possible. I liked kabira, but its remote and there are only a couple of buses per day. The owners looked very well after me. Unfortunately we couldn't communicate that much, because I can't speak any japanese. They do speak some Englisch. The food was really good. Thanks for your hospitality Nothing
