- Hariprasad (7/5): The Staff Made the Difference! - The location is excellent, right in the middle of St Andrew Square, this is 2 minute walk away from any kind of restaurant, eatery, pubs etc. The choice of eateries around this place is amazingly diverse - Indian, Italian, Mexican, Pubs, Chinese, Continental, etc. And all of them of very good quality. The Hop-on Hop-off bust stop is right in front of of the hotel. Ubers are super easy to get. It is walking distance from the Royal Mile, Princes Street etc. Natalie and Lilita the front desk, and their colleagues were amazingly helpful, every single time. The bed and linen were super clean and hygienic. Staff is amazingly warm and super efficient. In fact they converted what could otherwise have been a disappointing room experience into a warm, comfortable stay. The room we took was a high end Suite. The living room of the suite was awesomely spacious and well structured, the bedroom of the suite was very tiny and very little space to even walk around the bed. The bedroom had two cupboards, but the wiggle room was so tiny that we could not keep our baggages there. We had to request for baggage stands and keep it in the living room. The lighting in the room could do with a little more brightness. The hotel does not have a 24/7 restaurant. Not even 24/7 in-room dining. The in-room dining closes at 9.30 PM. So you have to plan you dinner evenings and possibly keep some food in the room for if you are hungry or feel like a coffee later. The breakfast is also a la carte and not buffet. Vegan options food is limited. The bathroom is spacious, but the shower area did not have even a railing for seniors to hold on to when stepping out of the bath. This is seriously dangerous and they could slip as the floor is smooth.

- Ayre-Pearce (10/5): If only we had somewhere to hang our coats it would of been perfect! - Between the 6th of May & 9th of May 2026 my wife & I were invited back to stay at the Edinburgh Grand after a less than impressive first visit, however on this occasion it couldn't of been more different. We were warmly greeted by Gary (Hotel General Manager) & Jo (Head Concierge) at the door upon arrival,and this theme was consistent throughout our stay by not only them but the staff on the 4th floor (breakfast /afternoon tea room). This made you feel like you were staying with family rather than a hotel. Our room 606 was one bedroom suite, clean, modern and contemporary, however a couple of hooks or stylish coat stand wouldn't of gone a miss during our stay. The team then went the extra mile, by having a tailored complimentary package including flowers from the hotel management due to my wife celebrating her birthday, it really was appreciated by her and was a nice personal touch that wasn't expected. During our stay we experienced relaxed breakfast service in the historic atmosphere of the room within the building, I then worked it off using the excellent gym facilities on site.It also centrally located is ideal for anyone visiting like ourselves or on Business, we will definitely recommending it to others within our family & friends circle group. Therefore we would have no hesitation in returning in the future and may even bring our furry daughter with us next time, as we found out that some of the rooms are dog friendly. Reception helped me with issues with booking.com and could not stop assisting. The breakfast room and food was like a 5 star restaurant, the staff were so great and went out of their way to ensure breakfast order was correct. The staff lift was broken but the reception gentleman moved 2 heavy suitcases up stairs from level 1 to level 2. Legend. Our stay was only 3 nights. Could have stayed much longer.

- Tom (7/5): Convenient place to stay in Edinburgh but did not ultimately meet our expectations. - Very helpful and friendly front desk staff, room was spacious with laundry and cooking facilities which was useful. The restaurant Hawksmoor is located within the hotel which is convenient if you don’t want to walk far and like good quality steak. Breakfast was good quality and included in our rate, and the breakfast staff were kind and helpful. The room was hard to access a long way from reception involving two lifts and long walks down poorly lit corridors. It was stuck at the rear of the hotel so no view.

We had booked for 2 nights and unfortunately due to a family member hospital admission had to shorten our stay. The hotel was super accomodating in modifying our booking- thank you Siobhan in reservations! It was my birthday plus we were celebrating our sons birthday in the Hawkmoor restaurant within the hotel ( great meal and service- for another review)- and they left us cake and champagne. Our room was gorgeous with views to Calton hill and the staff were lovely! We are in edinburgh often yet havent ever stayed here but this is def our new find! Thank you!
- sebastien (8/5): superbe mais organisation petit déjeuner nulle! - Personnel surtout celui de l'acceuil vraiement au top, litterie tres confortable, calme, localisation au coeur de la ville, architecture et décoration interieure le petit déjeuner, non pas qu'il ne soit pas bon mais soit vous avez une cuisine réactive soit vous faites un buffet. attendre 15 minutes que l'on vienne prendre notre commande + 25/30 min pour que les assiettes arrivent et au compte goute ce n'est pas acceptable dans une hotel de ce standing. (surtout à 8h du matin avec moins de 10 personne dans la salle). et quelle idée d'pporter le sucré puis le salé la boissons en avance de faite qu'elle est froide quand le reste arrive, conseil pour le management de l'hotel rperendre completement ce point spécifique!

The staff are friendly and helpful. The suite was very clean and comfortable. The cherry on the cake are the team who work there - friendly, cheerful and could not do enough to help. Loved it. Will definitely be back. The only slight gripe (and it really is splitting hairs) is that the bed was a little too firm for my comfort. A completely subjective thing though and it will be perfect for others.

The breakfast menu was limited (ok for a one night period)
- 655pittyk (2/5): Overpriced. Initially appears luxurious however this is a thin veneer. - Got "upgraded" to a room only accessible by the fire exit. If they try to move you to rooms 105, 106, or 107 say no. These rooms are bigger but are very convoluted to access only by trashy fire stairs with waste lying everywhere. Also the breakfast deal is a scam. The food is very low quality and extremely overpriced. Paid £25 ($50 AUD!) for a Scottish breakfast that was drowning in oil with scrambled eggs resembling an omelette and some shrivelled sticks of bacon. Don't mind a breakfast like this for $15-$20 AUD but $50 is a scam. Walked past the kitchen and it was literally a broom closet with a stove.

We were allocated a lovely room on the 6th floor which was lovely A few wee niggles, upon leaving the room on the last day a item was discovered, clearly from a previous guest !, which clearly should have been identified by housekeeping . Also a previous guest had obviously smoked out on the balcony and the remains of cigarettes were evident. We chose to have breakfast on the last day and based on multiple previous stays ,breakfast on this occasion was not to the same standard as before Quality not as good and missing items ,based on the cost and the standard of the Hotel this was disappointing.

We loved how comfortable and homey our room was. The location is fantastic. We appreciated the restaurant staff for their diligence in verifying their patrons' allergies and other requirements. Overall, it was a memorable stay that we won't forget. I would've liked for the breakfast to be a buffet style with the options they served.

- Sawarin (9/5): A pleasant stay at enchanting hotel in a wintry wonder of Edinburgh. - Spacious loft studio with plenty of amenities. Quality bathrooms, comfortable bed and well supplied cooking utensils. I could also listened to my own music. Magnificent building architecture took you back in time. Foods from room service and breakfast at the Register Club were delicious. Stairs were a bit steep. At night, the heating around bedroom area was on too high despite lowering down to 19 degree. The kitchen could have stocked a French press for coffee drinkers.
