Guest Reviews
- Peter (6/5): - By Lapland's standards it's ok for what you pay! However rooms are very basic, but warm and with hot water :] Location is very good in the middle of the village! Ok breakfast!
- Arto (8/5): - ?
- Jennifer (8/5): - Nice little hotel without much luxury. Had a double room with two beds and a shower. The rooms are clean and warm. The best thing is that there is a refrigerator. A sauna is located next to the pub.
The Breakfirst was inkludet. A small Buffet, with warm and cold meal. The stuff was verry friendly. You can ever ask them.
- Athena (6/5): - The hotel has an old charm to it. But also, its old. My room had a smell to it like when its old. I was able to open a vent window to allow it to air out. I was in a twin room. The mattress was saggy, pillows flat. There is plenty of water pressure in the shower but the temperature varies. I think its when other rooms flush or run their water. I did eat at Annie's and it was really good. Breakfast was also really good. For the price it was a good deal in high season.
- Melissa (10/5): - Loved Saariselka. The inn was perfect. Beautiful scenery around this cosy little village. I would definitely visit here again. Very relaxing, a little getaway from the hustle and bustle of Levi or Rovaniemi.
- Marco (6/5): - Camera molto spartana, bagno compreso. Ottima colazione. Posto stupendo
- Graham (8/5): - A basic facility. Rooms are interesting, no doir on bedroom. No curtain on glass wall to bathroom means very little privacy. No.curtain was provided but was able to rig up a curtain to provide some privacy. Couch bed one if the most uncomfortable ever slept on.
- MAY CHING JENNY (4/5): - In a state of needing repair, especially the bathtub, which was not stable and dangerous. Breakfast was inadequate. Fittings are dated.
- Samuel (10/5): The beating heart of Saariselkä - I had a great albeit short (one night) stay at the inn and am relieved I chose this spot. It was -30C and right by the bus stop, which was very convenient. There’s also Husky & Co in the same building so I was able to do the snow mobile and husky tours which I would have missed otherwise.
- Carol (10/5): - The rooms were clean, beautifully warm, comfy and spacious. Thank you for a great stay. We would love to come back.
- Esa (10/5): Setämiehen yöpymisarvio - Erinomainen paikka majoittua ilman mitään ylimmääräistä hömppää. Huone varsin simppeli ja hienostelematon. Sisälsi kuitenkin kaikki perustarpeet.
Itselleni sänky erinomainen nukuin kuin tukki.
Huone oli todella siisti ja puhdas.
Vastaanoton henkilökunnalla loistava asenne sekä tilannekomiikan ymmärrys, tästä kiitos heille.
- Markus (10/5): Tukikohta aktiivilomalaiselle - Selvästi parhaat päivänsä nähnyt paikka, enkä varaisi jos olisi tarkoitus nautiskella hotellilla olemisesta. Oikein hyvä vaihtoehto kuitenkin tukikohdaksi aktiivilomalaiselle joka haluaa aamupalan ja paikan, jossa nukkua ennen seuraavan päivän aktiviteetteja. Itse kaivoin kultaa viikon Tankavaarassa ja täällä on helppo kömpiä päivän päätteeksi kuraisena ja hikisenä suoraan suihkuun. Kesällä huoneissa todella hiljaista ja parkkipaikkoja riittää. Palvelut lähellä.
- metoford (2/5): Awful service - Real awful and unpolite service… really not understable how the stuff communicate and handle customers. We hsd nice, enjoyable evening before stuff come and push us out before 20min of closing time. We will never come back to this bub, becease of service which we got…
- Thomas (8/5): - Very central place - all can be reached by foot
- Fred-Are (6/5): - Litt slitt. Tørkeskap fungerte ikke.
Greie nok rom, noe dyrt i forhold til standard.
Bra frokost. God restaurant, hyggelig betjening
- Natalija (10/5): Great stay - Very good value for money.Located in village centre.
Big clean basic rooms.
Stunning surroundings: walking trails , sky tracks, bicycle, snowshoe rentals.
Bus stop just outside the hotel.
Sauna on site.
Various breakfast buffet, good selection of food.
Friendly and polite staff at reception.
Thanks a lot:)
- 349natalyav (10/5): Very good:) - Very good value for money.Located in village centre.

- U1671HHmichaelb (10/5): I loved this pub, I wish it was my local! - I loved this pub, I wish it was my local! Charming rustic homely pub where the fire is always burning, Great drinks selection, kids welcome, friendly staff - a proper pub. You can either have alcoholic beverages, hot chocalates - why not combine the two? - I did. Try the Gloggi or Gluewien also.
- Pirjo (8/5): - Sijainti on hyvä.
- Markku (10/5): - What I liked the most - the staff.
And Anna's restaurant serving breakfast.
- U4577NKvictoriam (8/5): Santas Saariselka Inn - We travelled to Santas Saareslka Inn in November 2023, the opening weekend for Santas lapland (who we booked with).
On arrival we were greeted by a very helpful rep. We were shown our rooms. As a family of 4 we had two interconnecting rooms. This meant we had two bathrooms too. The rooms were roomy enough and were very warm. There were drying cupboards to put snow suits and plenty of wardrobe space. There was also a kettle and fridge. Top tip- you only get paper cups so take own cups and spoons. There was plenty of room to put suitcases etc. The bathrooms were basic but has a shower (always hot) sink and toilet.
The block we stayed in was straight across from the resturant area. You could go here for breakfast- lots of choice or to sit in the sofa area.
The pub (where reception area was) was lovely. Very warm, great atmosphere and had board games you could play.
Although I agree with previous reviews about rooms being basic and outdated, they had all we needed, were warm and were in a great location. We really didn't spend much time in the room as wanted to make the most of exploring.
- Risto (10/5): Ruskaretkellä. - Siisti huone, jossa kaikki tarvittava. Monipuolinen aamiainen. Aamiaisella ei ruuhkaa, vaan päinvastoin, ihan kotoinen tunnelma. Upeasti sisustettu ravintola.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Karri-Pekka (8/5): - Apartment was perfect for our needs to stay a night before heading to the UKK wilderness.
- Deborah (4/5): Cheap - you almost get what you pay for. - Dingy room, with a very old and tired kettle and no fridge (there was one in the photo). The single beds were very narrow and uncomfortable and the bathroom was very basic. The whole experience felt very “budget”.
- jayneo508 (10/5): Amazing!!! - We had the most amazing time here. The hotel is made up of wooden huts with about 20 hotel rooms in each block. They looked simply idyllic in the snow.
The rooms are basic but clean and very warm. Hot and powerful showers and very comfy beds! Breakfast was lovely as was the evening meal at Hotel Tunturi.
We booked with Santa’s Lapland and we can’t fault them at all. Amazing experience for children and Lapland is simply magical! We would love to visit Finland again in the future as it’s a beautiful place and very friendly locals. Enjoy!
Tips-
Take tea bags/ coffee
Don’t overpack as you’ll be wearing snowsuits and boots for 99% of the time
- localleigh123 (10/5): Best pub in the town - Best pub in town - friendly staff, sport shown on screens and a bundle of board games to play. Friendly feel. Doesn’t serve food but a must to go to. Drinks great and very popular place to visit all times of the day. Highly recommended. 5 stars from us
- Brian (8/5): - Great little pub and restaurant on the resort
- Katja (4/5): - Kulunut huone ja kalusteet, huono ilmastointi, pubin meteli kuului todella hyvin huoneeseen, kylpyhuone oli hirveä, jääkaappi äänekäs. Tv:sä toimi 5 kanavaa. Vaatesäilytys huono. Sänky ok ja lakanat/pyyheet ok. Aamupala ok.
- Tigeralfiewoo (10/5): Santa's Lapland at Saariselka Inn - So a long post, but hopefully helpful. We flew from Newcastle to Ivalo on sat 18th dec- Santa's Lapland 3 nights (Santa's Magic) staying at the Saariselka Inn. 2 adults and an 8 year old.
I won't say too much about the airports as it's an ever changing picture but for us there were no issues at either end for departure. We flew with Titan Airways. We had xmas songs and singing on the flight, a Christmas quiz. The pilot frequently updated us on Santa's test runs which we unfortunately couldn't see as he was often in front of the plane. Upon landing, the Santa's Lapland team and elves were on hand for both help and entertainment. It was snowing!
On arrival in resort, the elves were at the Saariselka sign welcoming the coach in. Suit collection at Lapland Safari was quick and easy (whole coach done within 20 mins). Drop off at the inn and the reps had already checked us in and we were taken straight to our rooms.
We had room type A which is essentially a small double with a single bed put in. It's tight. But cosy. Pack light clothes wise. Other than underwear and baselayers no other clothing touches your skin. You don't need multiples of everything for each day. Save the space for wine and remember there's not much space in the room for multiple cases.
The room has a drying cupboard next to the front door and a shower. Tea and coffee facilities mean just that. Means to make one as in kettle and paper cups. Bring tea/coffee. We also brought our camping mugs from home (doubling up as wine mugs for the box we brought with us). Room has a fridge, TV (one English channel) and a small hairdryer. As everyone says it is basic but it is very clean and very warm. And so nice to not have to traipse through a hotel or up and down stairs everytime you need to pop in.
30 mins after arrival we met in the Panimo pub for an illegal briefing with Jingle Jenny and Ho Ho Han. We were raring to go but it was worth the 30 mins for some top tips. We were told Tunturi would be take away only. Again I won't say much about this as plenty of posts currently about it and it's a changing situation.
We used the pub a couple of times a day. Cost around 18 euros for 2 pints and an apple juice. Coffee was 2 euros (we had a duty free rum in a insulated bottle to add to coffee for a hot toddy). No food other than doughnuts and crisps. The hot chocs there are immense. Board games for the kids to play. Open fire. Friendly staff. Kids allowed in until 10pm.
We hit the tobagganing run after that on afternoon 1. Loads of sledges at the bottom-don't buy one, it will only be pinched if left unattended. We didn't make it to the mountain top this week but some great slopes are available higher up off the main one to try without going too high. The church just near it is beautiful and also worth a look. A flashing hat or bright hat is helpful if you're not all coming down together to help find your child. If you're tobagganing remember it's active. Don't wear so much you can't move or bend. A walk back up, takeaway Tunturi tea (bought a pint in Panimo and ate it in there) and a leisurely loop walk around town afterwards more or less completed our night out. Just walking, snowballing and seeing who can find the deepest section of snow is fun. We returned to the room, filled our tin cups with a wine and finished the night sledging down the steep snow piles outside the room.
A little hint to limit snowsuit rage in a tiny room. Take the boots and suits off outside the room, hang in the drying cupboard before getting in, cramped, hot and grumpy.
Day 2 was our free day. We headed to breakfast at Annie's (didn't get to try their evening meals as not open sun/mon). Breakfast is a random potatoe, cut hot dogs and meatballs combo. Also usual salad, cold meats, cheese, cereal, porridge, toast, biscuits. Tea is loose leaf or herbal bags. If you prefer your English breaky tea faff less then bring a tea bag with you. We hadn't planned on booking excursions but we were getting 30 euro pp per day compensation for the tunturi food situation. As we'd already 'spent' it we decided to reallocate it to a trip. We booked the 10km (2-3 hour) husky excursion with Husky and Co. The trip left at 12. 30 so we hit the tobogganing slopes until it was time to leave.
The excursion was expensive but my God it was brilliant. As soon as the huskys first pull the sledge you're hooked. There's nothing quite like it. You get about an hour actually on the sledge. Half way point gives drivers the opportunity to switch over. We both (adults) had a go. We saw wild reindeer. It's exhilarating and beautiful. The dogs are amazing. And a little cold. Wrap up warm. Especially around your face. On return you have a hot drink, a small sweet treat, wr had some time with the 3month old puppies where you can ask questions about how it all works, before returning to Saariselka.
That night we did the aurora walk (behind Tunturi Hotel). We saw the Northern lights which was one of many trip highlights. Download the Aurora app and look out for clear skies. There are small firepits near the Aurora hut so take marshmellows and matches. You can get wood from the door next to the toilets. You can also light a fire in the hut. Worth taking drinks and snacks if you're planning on staying up there a while. And increase the iso on the pro setting on your phone camera if you're struggling to pick them up. Truly, truly an amazing experience. So much so that we went the next night too.
Day 3 - Search for Santa day. We had a 9.10am pick up. We were there for 10. I was worried it would be a day of queuing and waiting around but it really wasn't. It was so well planned and organised. Make use of all the short activities on offer. There is no need to do the big 5 as soon as possible, there is no need to rush. Lunch was spag bol (very tasty), plenty of opportunity for biscuits, pancakes and Berry juice. It was a great day. We used to open fires to toast our own marshmellows. The letter to santa switch is
topped the day off for me. My child on the other hand wasn't that fussed. Oh and I'd give the ice bar a miss. Poor cold coffee and hot choc. Get the pic and leave is my advice.
The husky ride was fab. Obviously not in the same depth we had on the paid excursion the day before but still really good and particularly for younger kids, more than enough.
The kids skiddow was a hit and had a couple of goes on that. The ice hockey was fun. The ice fishing is less likely to reep reward but my son is a bit of a geek and was really interested in the whole process. Search for santa magical sleigh ride was brilliant. Don't tell them that's what it is, just say it's a snow mobile ride. For more surprise. The reps all day are on hand for help, advice and warm up activities.
We couldn't face another Tunturi takeaway so used the burger bar opp the pub which is delicious. Lots of recommendations for the restaurant in the supermarket too, the pizzas looked amazing. We did some gift shopping and successfully hit the Aurora trail again. At the back of the supermarket is a badly laid out but large gift section which is a few euros cheaper than the shops.
Last morning we got up very early to hit the tobaggan for the last time before returning for breaky and our 10.20am departure. We were the very first ones down there at 8.15am. We had it all to ourselves for the first couple of runs.
Ps. Ivalo Airport is tiny. Be prepared to sit on the coach whilst the queue goes down enough to let the next coach in. Be prepared to queue for upto an hour inside. Be prepared to pay 30 euros for 2 sandwich, a doughnut and 2 waters. To be honest I've had this experience at UK airports except your atood queuing throughout, so whilst it is less than ideal, it's airports. Take snacks, drinks and charged devices for the kids.
Hints summary: Hand warmers (don't need loads), snoods, flashing hat or head torch, marshmellows, wine/duty free/tin cups, hip flask, own tea and coffee, don't over pack, relax don't rush, battery booster, learn your iso settings and the Aurora app.
All in all, what a trip! Once in a lifetime. We loved every minute, of which Santa was just one part, and we are just sad we were only there 3 nights.
- lisafoz (8/5): Great little Pub - Loved this place. Warm , Cosy and put the Liverpool game on for us ! Great hot chocolate for the kids , boards games etc; Even a bit of kareoke ! Friendly staff and locals . Made to feel really welcome. It isn’t cheap but we were on holiday and didn’t mind as the authenticity of the place added to the experience.
- MBoyd218 (8/5): Saariselka Inn (Santa's Lapland Trip) - We stayed at the Saariselka Inn as part of Santa's lapland Magic Break. We arrived Friday and departed on Monday. The village itself is small and very pretty, for a long weekend there are more than enough places to eat out somewhere different each night (we picked bed and breakfast as we like to try different places to eat). The accommodation is spacious warm and clean, it is fairly basic, but we went there with those expectations and happy with our choice (we weren't in the room that often). The bathroom was very clean and had a great shower. The breakfast was buffet with lots of choices. All over the village there are sledges just to be picked up to use and you can walk (15 mins) to one of Europe's longest sleding hills, 1.8kms long lots of fun. We went on the northern light experience, we managed to see the northern lights but it was -30 and our kids (8 and 11 yrs old) didn't handle that cold very well, the reps recognised this and organised a bus for all the kids to head back half way through, I personally wouldn't recommend any younger than teenagers on that trip when it's that cold. The Santa day was excellent, lots of great warming rooms to use, definitely make use of them as it makes the day much more enjoyable.
- Tapani (6/5): - Vastaanotto oli ravintolan yhteydessä. Klo 18 oli kova musiikki ja yleishäly. Oli hieman hankalaa kirjautua. Huoneemme oli eri rakennuksessa. Opastus huoneeseemme oli sekava. Etsittiin huonetta ne pitkään.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Kodikasta, huone ihanan viileä, kun ulkona hellettä
- sutu2021 (8/5): Positive and safe short visit - We only stayed one night in July, and I was happy with the location, buffet breakfast and the friendly staff at breakfast. The interiors are outdated ( from the 1980's ) but tidy enough. The only small negative was a less than friendly welcome at the reception, but I can understand that times are stressful for businesses when the pandemic has affected the customer flow from abroad so massively.
We saw only a couple of other guest so it felt safe with corona in mind. The beautiful and calm reindeers walking around outside were a nice addition and created a lovely athmosphere when looking out the window or taking a walk.
Quality for price was good.
Pub Panimo has a terass otside where we enjoyed a glass of wine and a IPA, inside was karaoke and a pub quiz (every Friday and Wednesday) which was not too loud but relaxed.
Hotellin sijainti on erinomainen, alueen keskeisin paikka. Henkilökunta mukavaa ja avuliasta.
- Ulla (6/5): Vaatimaton ja vailla charmia. - Majoituspaikka on ehdottomasti uudistamisen tarpeessa. Ahdasta, vanhanaikaisen tuntuista. Tuli mieleen opiskelija-asuntola 1970-luvulta.
- Janne (10/5): - Huone on ikää nähnyt mutta siisti. Ei vslitamista
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ei aivan täydellinen.. - Tilat suoraan 70- luvulta suihkuineen kaikkineen. Huoneen suihkutila heikko. Varauksessa mainittu ilmainen lounas loisti poissaolollaan.halvin on harvoin paras. Yhden yön välietappina menettelee.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Henkilökunta osasi työnsä kaikki toimi ja olivat ystävällisiä
- Kan (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Amazing wooden accommodation, warm, comfortable and cozy. We like it very much.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Mukava perinteinen majatalo. Ystävällinen palvelu.
- Marja (8/5): Hiihtelylomalla - Lomamatkalla, 7 yön reissu. Huoneisto nuhjaantunut mutta puhdas ja toimiva. Rauhallista oli (700 - talo). Jääkaappi huoneessa hieno juttu!
Kodinomainen majatalo, oikein hyvä aamupala! Saunassa hyvät löylyt
Suurin plussa erittäin ystävällinen henkilökunta!
- AmandaB_66 (8/5): Good value - We picked the Saariselkä Inn for a few reasons: it was one of the cheaper options, it was central to everything we needed and we got discount at Husky & Co for all of our excursions. We were very happy. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated but for the price there’s not much to complain about. We had an issue with the heating and someone came and solved the problem immediately. The sofa bed was quite uncomfortable for our third adult... that would be our main criticism. Katja, who worked on reception, was so friendly and was always genuinely interested in hearing about what we had been up to during the day. Other staff members were also friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
- Rachel (10/5): Just So Cozy - I was entirely happy with my decision to stay here. The owners/employees at the front desk were incredibly helpful - more than happy to let me check in early, stay a little late, and always ready with directions or recommendations. The attached restaurant has decent prices for the area, and the service is friendly. The Inn is situated centrally near other hotels, shops, tour operators, and restaurants in Saariselka, and about half an hour's walk from Saariselka Ski and Sport. Buildings and rooms are a tiny bit run-down, but warm and comfortable.
- SUSHO_SG (8/5): VALUE FOR MONEY STAY - Me and my wife visited Saariselka from 28th December 2019 for 5 nights , The room allotted was 501. we reached quite late at around 11.30 and as promised the keys were available at panimo bar. Our room was very nice and cosy. The amenities as promised was there, electric kettle, heaters and running hot water. There is no day cleaning during your stay, no change of linen. Breakfast was complimentary. It was ok for a non-veg but repetitive. The items were same for 5 days and so much so that they are placed at the same place. - 516amandaa (10/5): Family Christmas stay - We stayed for 3 nights just before Christmas and had the most amazing time. I booked this place as honestly it was the cheapest option by far and I knew we wouldn't be in the room much. That being said everything far exceeded my expectations. We didn't go anywhere near the pub so I can't make any comments on that except to say that the pub shown in lots of the pictures on TripAdvisor and booking.com is in a separate building to the Inn part itself. The pub is attached to the husky and co building and the inn is in a building just to the rear. All of what follows relates to the Inn...
Beautiful christmassy reception area with a decorated tree and hundreds of twinkle lights. It was a lovely wooden building with a real husky dog usually sitting behind the counter for the children to stroke. The lady on reception was so helpful and really cheery. There was a small bar, lovely lounge with comfy chairs around a fire and this went through to the restaurant where breakfast was served. This area then transformed to the restaurant for the rest of the day. I think the restaurant was called Anne's Garden Grill. Don't be put off by the massive neon burger outside - the food was excellent and really well priced for this area. We were a group of 5 adults and 4 kids and elwe enjoyed the most delicious chicken wings I've ever had for starter followed by pizzas and then blueberry jam pancakes for pudding. It was €120 for two adults and two kids and worth every penny. Put this restaurant on your list and you won't be disappointed. Breakfast was toast, cereal, porridge, cold meats and cheese, bread/toast and then a cooked dish of sausage, potatoes, onions etc - all very yummy and plenty of it. There was also juice, tea and coffee machine etc. The room had a lounge with a sofa bed big enough for two young children ( but occupied by our 14 year old son) and then a bedroom with a double bed (two singles put together) and a single futon bed which our 7 year old daughter slept on. At a push you could therefore have 2 adults and 3 kids in one suite. We opted for the bathroom with a bath rather than sauna but if I had my time again I'd for the sauna so that we'd have somewhere to dry boots etc in the evenings. The room was always lovely and warm. The temperature is not controlled by the thermostat on the wall - that just covers the bathroom. You adjust the room temp by the controls on the electric radiators on the walls. There was plenty of hanging space, a large flat screen TV in the lounge, a fridge and kettle but no tea/coffee stuff so bring your own and mugs/thermos. The decor was a little dated but entirely in keeping with the place and we loved it. I only have 2 negative comments about the Inn. Firstly there is q curved wall to the bathroom that has glass blocks in it so when you are on the toilet and you have the light on, everyone in the room can see you. Having my 14 year old son in the same room meant this was less than ideal and there were a few toilet visits that had to be conducted in the dark as a result! Secondly all suites are in log buildings behind the inn. We were allocated a room right by the main entrance door to the block. Everytime people would come in they would knock their boots against the walls and on the floor which made a lot of noise in our bedroom so ask for a room away from the main door to the block. Otherwise it was all wonderful and I would highly recommend.
- Amrod_x (6/5): It need an update - The hotel is very simple with the check in that has to be done in the pub. The room wasn't big but neither small with a bathroom that seamed not perfect clean. Good breakfast to consume in the same pub of the check-in. It should have a little update but is cheaper than many other.
- CindyM901 (10/5): Great locations and value - Receptionist was amazing, friendly and very helpful. Room was cozy and clean and great value. We enjoyed their pub with live music, warm drinks and beer. Easy access of the main highway. Grocery store is in walking distance.
- chrisd880 (8/5): Great central location and perfectly functional - Just returned from a fun snowy week at the Saariselka Inn. The location of Reception was not obvious when we arrived. We initially went to the "loca pub" (part of the same company) and they pointed us in the right direction. There is a central hub building containing Reception, bar, lounge and restaurant. The rooms are in separate wooden buildings around it. Room was basically decorated, but perfectly functional, warm and clean. Beds were comfortable and bathroom facilities worked fine. We had TV, fridge, kettle but just paper cups (no ceramic mugs or glass tumblers). It seems that you have to ask for your room to be serviced (it didn't happen as a matter of course) but that wasn't really a problem. Breakfast was usual European style buffet: enough choice. The location was great for activities: 1 minute to the pub (recommended) and next door to Husky & Co for excursions (husky-sled driving, reindeer-sleigh ride, snowmobile safari etc). Cross-country ski track and walking tracks just 5 minutes away. Ski-hire shop opposite. Downhill ski-slopes and toboggan run about 20 mins walk. Many restaurants and a big supermarket/shopping-centre within 5 mins walk. For what we paid, I think it was fine: no complaints.
- Cinnamoroll214 (10/5): Simple and clean - Not a 5 stars hotel but I am happy with how clean the accommodation was. The reception area is cozy and people are so nice. There’s a sauna inside our bathroom which is awesome. We stayed here with two boys for three nights before we went to the kelo glass igloo resort. We enjoy the location a lot! It’s walkable to grocery store and other shops. Good deal!
- Verified traveler (6/5): A Comfortable Stay - The hotel is central located, restaurants, tour agencies and supermarket are within walking distance. The room is simple and toilet is dated. But it provide a comfortable stay. Breakfast is good. It is ideal for the budget travelers.
- SKYONG (8/5): A simple but comfortable accommodation - We stay here for two nights. It is a good value for money accommodation. The room is reasonable size, the bed is comfortable and the heater is good. The location is excellent, right in the center of the town.Restaurants, tour agencies and supermarket are nearby and within 5 minutes walk.Very convenience. However the amenity in the room is very simple & limited and the toilet is old and dated. Also, sometimes you may see that the reception staff got agitated and impatient.
- nimusmum (6/5): Santas Lapland, 2 nights, 3 days - Flew to Lapland on 17th December and back on 19th. Stayed at Saariselka Inn which on the pictures looked delightful. However that was the main reception building. Our room, a three bed family room, as I think all the rooms, were in barrack style wooden buildings, nowhere as near as attractive. Admittedly I had sought out the cheapest three person room available as the cost of this holiday is not cheap, but our room was still a disappointment. True it had the requisit three beds and a kettle. There was loads of other unnecessary furniture and we managed to get the cleaner to take away a chair to give us a bit more room. We could figure out the heating as there were no instructions. The thermostat on the wall didn't seem to work and after a day out in the cold our room was only 17 degrees. Eventually found an electric heater on the wall and whacked this up to high. This worked well and we had it on, although turned down, all night. The shower room was also very tatty with broken tiles and some sort of black gunk around the bottom, not sure if this was sealant or mould. However the room was adequate and we had asked for as cheap as poss. A lick of paint, not dark brown or grey, would have improved appearance. Having said that reception was lovely, welcoming, roaring fire, friendly staff and breakfast had a great deal of choice, from cereals, toast to cold meats, cheese and hard boiled eggs. With tea coffee and fruit juice for god measure. Evening meals taken in a different hotel. Saariselka itself was small, charming and magical.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property is very old and overpriced in relation to its condition. During the week of our stay the room has never been cleaned. Breakfast is poor so we had to eat at another place. Beds are very uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Poor facilities and very limited options for breakfast, there was not any staff working when I checked out at 6:30 am, and overall a very old building/room!!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Overall good stay and activities - Rooms were pretty old and a little dark. Overall stay was good, their activities office huskies and co was good as well
- sam (8/5): - It’s a good price for where’s it’s located. Simple and good enough if you need a (warm) roof over your head for one night. But definitely not for the luxury traveler. take note that the beds are very narrow and mattress is thin. But all in all, for the price, it serves its purpose.
