Guest Reviews
- cityzen (8/5): Good value if you don't mind the limited front desk hours - The most important thing to note is the limited hours of the front desk (10am to 6pm in the summer). This is an issue if you might arrive late or want to leave your bags in the morning after checking out. The hotel is absolutely serious about wanting you to contact them before you arrive to confirm your arrival time although the email they sent to me had no return email address. The bed (although not the pillows) was comfortable and the hot water and wifi both worked well. In-room safe was not large enough for a computer. In contrast to many smaller Swiss hotels, there's scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. My room had a great view of the mountains. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. In contrast to some Saas-Fee hotels, my Saastal card was already printed when I checked-in. If you leave luggage, it is left in the bar area so there's no real security for it.

- David (8/5): Good hotel - Great position for the ski lifts and top apres ski party 😁
- Thomas (10/5): Super Skiferienhotel - Tolles Hotel mit freundlichen Angestellten an bester Lage
- steve (10/5): Saas-Fee Snowboarding - A snowboarding trip to our favourite ski resort. The Larix is the nearest hotel to the ski lifts with a great Apres bar when you have finished on the slopes. A great place to stay.
- GloucestertilIdie (8/5): Perfect location - shame about you know what! - Because of pandemic uncertainty, we booked late and, after a bit of hunting around, found a perfect room at the Larix at a very decent price (for Saas-Fee). Location, at the foot of the slopes is perfect and the south-facing room had a wonderful view of the high-mountain bowl surrounding the resort. The room was well-equipped and immaculately clean. Breakfast was sound (although the tea offering was dismal!). Due to you know what, the bar and restaurant was closed, which was a shame. The friendly and helpful management and staff were doing their best in difficult circumstances. We would return any time.
- Andrew (10/5): A superb location - Superb location on the slopes. Modern, clean and comfortable with a very good breakfast. Sadly, Covid meant the restaurant and bar were closed during our stay but the management were doing their very best in difficult circumstances.
- Vadim (10/5): Perfect for solo skiing weekend getaway - I’ve had an amazing experience at the Larix on my latest spontaneous trip to the Saas Fee. I arrived the same day as I booked the hotel, and the staff done everything to make my short/spontaneous stay as comfortable as possible. The shuttle from the parking garage was available until 5PM, and although I arrived and hour after the deadline, they waited for me and helped me with the bags (it’s a good 15min walk, and definitely would’ve not been fun with all the ski gear). This was a great start to a weekend and the positive experience continued all throughout my stay at the Larix. The rooms are very comfortable, the ski room has plenty of space and it’s well-heated, therefore your gear is dry and ready for use the next day. The location is prime, with a very short walk to the gondolas that take you up to the glacier. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and a great “pick me up” for a longer ski day. But I would like to emphasize again the personal approach every member of the staff takes with their guests, and it was just a warm and a friendly environment throughout the weekend. The views from the room balconies are just spectacular and no photograph will compete with the real deal! There are plenty of options for rooms for every price range, as well as a separate chalet for a larger party. I was going solo, and I booked one of the smallest rooms, but trust me when I saw it was plenty. Thank you to the management and staff for a wonderful weekend! Definitely coming back again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - top service and kindbess and customeroriented thank and i will recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location in Saas Fee - Perfectly located next to the lifts and ski school, this Saas Fee gem has friendly and personalized service, cosy clean rooms, great views of the mountain and well stocked breakfast. Fourth time we have visited Saas Fee and definitely the best - we will be returning.
- Brichford (10/5): Really happy with the hotel - Much to like about The Larix. First, you simply cannot beat the location. The ski school, Spielboden, rentals, sledding, apres-ski time... all right there. You simply cannot pick a more convenient location. At the end of the day, you ski down, pop off your skis and walk into the boot room - perfect!
Everyone was super nice and helpful - from the front desk to the nice guy who helps with the little "bus" to Alex, Oronzo, Manolo, Sandra... everyone was great! Restaurant was nice and prices reasonable compared to other places in town. Get ready for sticker shock on food in Saas-Fee although comparable with other Swiss resorts.
The room location facing the slopes was quite nice so we could see exactly what the conditions were like. Room was cleaned regularly and we had enough storage space. The family room was a little tight but still gave our kids space to have their own room. While the bed was fine, the pillows were not great.
Would definitely recommend.
- nath_zuerich (10/5): Best place in Saas-Fee - Our family is coming since more than 20 years (old Waldesruh hotel) for 1 week of ski and lovely holiday week!
The location is top, you can directly stop in front of the hotel a the end of the slop, friendly people and nice food.
We will be back next february 2020!
- Quessera (10/5): Relaxing Family Winter Vacation - Great Hotel - We spent 4 nights at the Larix with our two small kids (one a toddler, one a 3 year old). We had the family room. Unlike other hotels this one offers the best "glacier-view" rooms to families. The big room has a double bed and a couch, the small kids-room right attached to it has a bunk bed for the kids. The room also had a large balcony which we enjoyed a lot soaking up the sun.
The skilift and the gondola is right in front of the hotel. No annoying walks with (kids in) ski boots and skis. You're already there.
We planed to eat one night in the hotel but ended up upgrading for half board as the menu (soup followed by pasta, small salad and tapas buffet, main course and dessert) is delicious and the restaurant is a good mix between homely and elegant. The restaurant offers à la carte as well as a half board menu - the dishes are mediterannean/italian.
The owner of the hotel is a wine connoisseur and can open the world of outstanding swiss wines to you.
- Rene (6/5): Nahe an der Piste - Sehr gutes Restaurant, Zimmer leider hellhörig und nahe an der Partywelt.
- JohnH13312 (2/5): poor service - We are Mr and Mrs Hemmant in room 204. The first time we asked for a bottle of wine we were recommended a red off the wine list but found later it was 90chf. The second night we asked for a half-bottle for 29chf but apparently this was not available and we had to settle on a 56chf bottle of wine. The third time we asked for a wine for 40chf but had to settle for a wine just under 60chf. Buying wine in the restaurant was unexpectedly expensive. We start our meals at 7-7.30pm and finish up at 10pm we have young children and can not put up with this poor service. Those on a la carte first rather than those on the half board. What a pity.
- roberthQ3359SV (10/5): impressive , positive surprise - after lot of years in Saas Fee for the first time i was guest in this hotel ..... room very good service perfect , restaurant excellent ..... plus of this structure there is a restaurant and bar , a tends for are ski in winter ..... really perfect
- 360juliann (2/5): Poor food in outdoor restaurent - This is possibly the worst food I've encountered in any ski resort - my minestrone soup was swimming in fat, whilst the other food we ordered looked reheated and barely edible - in sharp contrast to all the restaurants where we had lunch in Sass fee which are of a high standard.
- MarcD1988 (8/5): Great place for an after ski drink! - The Larix is just the best located hotel in Saas Fee, directly located at the pistes. After a great day of skiing it's great to have an after ski drink in or outside the Schirmbar near the fireplace!!
- WIdget21 (8/5): Excellent location for family skiing in Saas Fee - We have just returned from a week skiing in Saas Fee. We've stayed previously in this hotel when it was named the Waldesruh. Now recently changed hands and called the Larix. The interior downstairs has been modernised - hall, bar and restaurant - much more contemporary. The bedrooms were unchanged but new towels in the bathrooms was a great improvement. Service in the restaurant was initially rather slow but improved as the week went on. The food was excellent and there was a good choice of children's food. This was not made clear on the menu but the staff we're accommodating when we asked for children's options. I do hope the new owner continues to keep the restaurant and hotel in general child friendly as this is a major plus point for our group of 4 families from the uk that visit Saas Fee to ski at half term.
