- Teresa (10/5): - đ´ A Destination in Itself â Beautiful Design, Great AC, a True âWowâ Hotel Arrival & First Impressions On arrival, we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink called Dawa Sawa (lime juice, honey, and soda â 550 KES). It was so good I ordered it several times during our stay. We also received a helpful briefing and tour of the property, which immediately set the tone for a special experience. Architecture & Atmosphere Swahili Beach Resort is truly a destination in itself. Designed in the 1970s by Polish-born architect Zbigniew Trzebinski and Slovakian Tibor Gaal, the property is a stunning showcase of coastal design and remains one of the most impressive resorts on the Kenyan coast. Photos and videos simply donât do it justice â this is a genuine âwowâ hotel. Rooms & Rates I paid $2,390 through Expedia for three nights in two king rooms (#115 & #116). Rooms are spacious, with mosquito netting, strong Wi-Fi, and excellent air conditioning. Views are limited due to lush mature vegetation, but that greenery adds to the tropical setting (and keeps mischievous monkeys nearby â keep balcony doors closed!). Bathrooms feature powerful rain showers with strong water pressure (caution: hot water runs very hot). Tuk-tuks are available right outside the resort, and thereâs a complimentary shuttle to Diani Airport. Dining Food here was the best we had during our 10 days in Kenya. The resort offers both half-board and full-board options across four restaurants.

The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, making our stay very comfortable. A special thank you to Edna, who was especially helpful during check-in. She made sure our family of four was assigned to rooms next to each other, which made things so much easier for us. She also kindly arranged a late check-out to accommodate our late flightâsomething we really appreciated. Overall, excellent service, clean rooms, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Overall, the food could do with improvement, for example nachos were literally Doritos or something similar, with nothing on them, and everything else mixed into a cup to dip into. Saying that, food at Zanzibar, spice route and some of the breakfast options were very good. Lots of quirks though! Only one restaurant was open for lunch, and even being low season, food took up to 1 hr 45 minutes to arrive, with no real explanation. Same when their system showed us checking out a day sooner than actual, no real reason was provided as to why. Lots of cats, many are strays or kittens, and all should be spayed or neutered.

The gardens,the pools, rooms etcs absolutely stunning. I've been always returning here after trying most of the highly rated resorts in Diani.

The property is clean, the food is decent, and the staff are warm and accommodating, which enhances the overall experience. That said, while the hotel still maintains a good standard, itâs not quite as impressive as when it first opened, with some visible signs of wear and tear. However, this doesnât significantly impact the stay, and I would return for the convenience it offers. One downside is that the beach isnât as great as other spots along the Diani coastline. Overall, a solid choice for its location and service.

For instance, I asked for more water for our room and I was told that I was only to have two bottles and then if I wanted any more water, I would have to either order it from room service or get it myself from the bar or go across the street to the grocery store. There were a lot of little things like this, and It seemed every time we asked for some thing or needed something the answer was often no. Overall, though it is a good property and I would recommend it.

Some rooms need updating and our sink wasnât well cleaned. There was a smell in the shower after use as well. Overall, I would go back.

- Lisa (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful resort - Amazing resort. I ate, swam, drank and relaxed. Only bad thing is they don't keep beach boys from harrassing you so I didn't go on beach. Security just watched them harrass people. Lovely rooms, great service.

Please note that there is no all-inclusive drink package so drinks you do have to pay for a la carte. Very nice amenities and beautiful room. Beach access directly in front of the resort and a lovely spa. We would definitely recommend staying here! There are monkeys in the area so just be mindful of leaving room windows open or food unattended near the swimming pool areas (monkeys are fast!).

Our travel agent told us that hw was booking us on southern palms but i was adamant i wanted to stay here and went ahead to book myself through hotels.com At first they werent clear if we are on half board or full and guided us according to full board to later charge for the lunches we thought were complimentary. The staff was rude, very impolite and their communication was very poor. Its not a matter of money, its the experience but they didnt seem to care much for the guest experience. They have thousands of very bad reviews but i only saw them after checking in

Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean, our food was great, we had wonderful spa treatments and were fully relaxed while there. It's an older property but is maintained well. Very beautiful grounds overall. The beach location was not the best stretch in Diani I've seen (nature is nature) but that doesn't take away from the overall beauty of the resort.

The beach is NASTY, full of rocks and seaweed which workers attempt to sweep for at least 4 hours every morning. The pools are DIRTY except the one at the very bottom and the service was lacking because I had to keep calling the front desk for assistance with housekeeping. Iâd had surgery so I needed my room cleaned as early as 10am everyday of my 7-night stay, but it still wouldnât be cleaned by 4pm! Iâll just go back to Pride-Inn and the North Coast resorts.

Swimming pools are spectacular! Beach would not be really suitable for swimming or most picturesque - so if looking for instagram pictures of white beaches turquoise waters and palms trees, would need to take a short walks.

- Stephen (6/5): Dirty disgusting swimming pools - The pools were dirty and disgusting. The property is receiving payment from me and other guests everyday. Why is the swimming pool staff Not giving cleaning service when necessary ? ? Why is the building next to us so black and disgusting ? I will suggest a good power wash and new coat of paint. Rainwater causes mildew stains over time. Now it is an eyesore. Please clean your swimming pools,even on Sunday. Thank you for your concern. Your loving pride and joy client.

- Jean-Stephane (2/5): - There is almost no beach. Mainly rocks⌠impossible to walk on the beach and completely to swim. Also bothered none stop by vendors. Service is extremely slow. Full pension is actually limited in terms of food and end paying double often. Security is a major issue. No control on who get out no even on kids. Everything becomes a surcharge even for mayonnaise!

- Tamahra (8/5): - The overall stay was relaxing and wonderful. This resort is the nicest one in the area. I was pleased however, the water did get turned off a few times. They were doing construction so one of the days I was trying to nap and I couldnât due to banging on the roof. It appears they are doing some needed repairs which is expected but not an ideal time. The message was amazing I will say. The dinner was redundant at the main buffet but the Spice Market restaurant was amazing. Gilbert was our waiter and he was phenomenal. He was very hospitable and had the most cheerful attitude. Most of the staff was kind, a few seemed annoyed with the requests of the guests. Overall my experience was relaxing and I enjoyed my time there.
- Nicole (6/5): - We stayed at for 6 nights a group of 3 women. They would not let us share a room not even a suite so we purchased two standard rooms- one was underwhelming with a broken air conditioner and all the art removed from the wall with nails sticking out- the other room next door was nicer. After many hours traveling we went to shower in both rooms the water was not working at all. We called down stairs and they were working on it. This happened multiple times during our stay and staff was not apologetic. The shower is also cold as sometimes the hot water wasnât working. Every night at 9 pm we would get knocks on the door apparently itâs turn down service but knocking on a door that late woke us up. The breakfast was wonderful, the dinner food was terrible except at the spice market/ the only dinner venue with amazing customer service and food. My regret is not knowing about until the second to the last night! We had the best service. In other areas the customer service was poor while there was plenty of staff at all times service was very slow overall. Many staff did not look happy to be there or would roll their eyes. I had an appointment at the spa at 10 and arrived at 945 to fill out paperwork and the attendant told me Iâm too early to be there rolling her eyes. The massages were amazing though and I do recommend despite the poor front staff customer service. The spa is closed and under renovation so empty hotel rooms are being used as the spa currently.

The property is set in an authentic swahili design with plenty of space per guest in all settings, providing an air of privacy.
- Debritu (10/5): - This hotel is stunningly beautiful and no pictures could do it justice - from the large rooms to the public spaces, to the beach and spa. They've thought of everything. The food was delicious with lots of different options. The staff were gracious, very friendly and helpful. We never wanted to leave the beach and the beach bar, but all the other options were amazing too. I look forward to going back.

- PAMELA (10/5): - Swahili Beach Resort was one of the BEST resorts we have ever stayed in! The resort itself is beautiful and kept immaculate! We ate at Barharini, Zanzibar, and Majilis and they were magnificent! Top class, top rated food, even greater servers! Katana and Kimberly were always our servers at Barharini & Majilis and those women knew how to treat their guests! They were warm and charming and a true bond was formed as they always went above to make our time there special. Conny always greeted us with a beautiful smile and a nice word! Joseck was such a gifted young chef! He made the most incredible soups that you just couldnât put the spoon down. My compliments to all the chefs at all the restaurants as the food here at Swahili is simply the best! Kelvin arranged tours and an amazing camel ride along the beachâŚI highly recommend this to all!!! Our party of 4 adults could not recommend Swahili enough! How do you put into words how wonderful and amazing someplace is that can paint a picture for the world? I guess the only answer is to GO!!! Stay at Swahili Beach Resort and enjoy the luxury!!! R

- Steven (8/5): - The property had all the hallmarks of a four star resort. However, there are a few things that will need attention. The cleaning staff was late in the evening, although there werenât many guests there. And they used too much disinfectant in the room. I had the oysters at the beach restaurant which gave me a very bad stomach virus. And the Japanese restaurant did not make sushi or sashimi. In Hindsight, it was better that I didnât eat it there. The spa was a shining star. The staff was great and did a wonderful job. (Please fix the saĂąa. That would have been a plus.
- Suhaa (2/5): - Swahili Beach is and always has been one of the iconic hotels of the South Coast. Being someone from this area, itâs an establishment I am very proud of and recommend often to friends and other travelers. This time though, I must mention a couple of things about my visit⌠I was very disappointed about several things! Although the food was great and the team was fantastic from start to end, a lot was disappointing. Our room was very run down, AC was very loud, shower had no pressure, taps were barely hanging in there, the lounge chairs were so dirty and stained, there was no Wi-Fi which means the room phone was not working which means we could not book any spa appointments, call for housekeeping to get an iron, call for room service or anything else. We had to walk to the bar, the reception, etc which is quite a distance in the rain with no one offering you umbrellas. Two nights at one of our favorite hotels could not have ended fast enough this time round. I hope some urgent maintenance will be made soon and I hope they will take care the necessary care of the Expedia members. There is a standard that is set by other establishments for members that keeps us coming back to Expedia. Sad to write this review, but it was necessaryâŚ

- Krystle (10/5): Wonderful Getaway - My cousin and I stayed for a few days and we loved every bit of it! The property is stunning and the service is impeccable. Everyone made sure our time was comfortable and we felt very well taken care of. Kelvin is so helpful from beginning to end. The front desk helped us book transportation when needed and made great recommendations for things to do in the area. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed Shadrackâs cooking and how well he took care of us at Zanzibar. Silo gave us wonderful service as well at Baharinhi. Please do not hesitate, book this place now!

- Tremana (4/5): - Upon checking in, the staff was not thorough in their explanation of services, booking, amenities, etc. This caused much confusion throughout our stay. In trying to seek clarification, we were met with a dismissive reservation staff who sought to make us more uncomfortable. They even went to attacking me verbally and then denied this to upper management. Out of the numerous issues with my booking including a broken A/C unit, TV, toilet, and clogged sinks, they didn't make an effort to resolve these issues quickly, if at all. My toilet was not fixed over the course of 6hours on the day I checked in, even though I had reported it twice. My sinks stayed clogged, the TV never worked. Just incredibly disappointing and offensive for the level of holiday enjoyment they claim to offer. To top it all off, management waited until the day of my checkout at the final offer to discuss our incidents. They offered not one single complimentary experience, discount on stay, etc. Just an "I'm sorry, I hope you'll return." With that, I won't be. This establishments only saving grace is its beauty and the wait staff.

The main room that I stayed would definitely need a slight upgrade to the bed/Beddings to match the lux look the hotel aims to achieve and also increase the comfort of the stay. Service not consistent across the different services. 3.5/4 overall rating from me on both the stay and service.

- Ashley (10/5): - Just Book It, Seriously The Swahili Experience. I spent 7 full days at this amazing resort. It was the best Diani has to offer. EVERYTHING is better than the pictures. The rooms are spacious, the pools a large and many, the food choices are plenty, and the spa is a must! I'm going to name drop because it was that good I had to keep a list. This is not to say other staff aren't amazing, but these are the staff that made my experience one for the books! The F&B Staff led by Junas: Daizy, Paul, Twahir, Sila, Clemence, and Hoka never missed a beat from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The Spa - there is not need to name drop, every single person in the Spa is !!!!!!! You must book the Swahili Experience at the Spa. The entire pool staff were thee keepers of the vibe! They keep the pool clean and ready! Morris is guest relation is a whole vibe! He literally is there to make sure you are living it up!! I don't have kids, I was there on a solocation, however, the entertainment staff......they were AMAZING! They kept the kids busy, allowing me to chat with cools moms! The music, the activities, the friendliness, and the safety! The accountant and cashier, Francis is always one to know. He keeps very good records, there was no funny business with the billing! He literally keeps everything running smooth! Such a pleasure at check out. The Owners - I love them! They are couple goals! They pay attention to maintenance, and they listen! I will be back!

- Kenneth D (10/5): - I loved everything about the resort the staff was nice and catered to all of our needs the only thing i didn't understand was we paid for full board which means food and drinks were suppose to be included only to find out that you had to pay for drinks and if you had your own you have to pay a fee for drinking it. I think that should have been specified when booking

- Ranika (8/5): - The aesthetic of the property is on point. I didn't like that I paid full board but it wasn't clearly explained that I would still have to pay for water. I can understand alcohol, but water... Also their gym is lacking with only one treadmill, one bike, one elliptical. The pools were great and the food was amazing. The beach was beautiful BUT as soon as you walk on the beach, there are people trying to sell you something. It made it where I didn't want to walk on the beach alone and just enjoy.
- claudio (4/5): - The property is self was very nice, but when you got into the room I expected more. In my room the lamps did not work. the mattress was horrible for that type of resort. I expected better. The worst problem was the drains would back up via the bath tub and caused a horrible smell in the room. It happened almost daily. I did complain, but I don't know if anyone ever came. When the water finally would go down, I would flush the tub with hot soap and water to kill the smell. At 200 plus American green backs, it was not worth the price. I want be going back unless they refund me some of my money. They should also be ashamed for what they pay the workers there too. I was told they got paid about 400 KSH per day.
