Rosemary (8/5): Ok for one night - Absolutely lovely breakfast, very friendly staff, the hotel is very clean and the mattress was comfortable. Nice clean bed linen. Breakfast was in a pleasant dining area. Free coffee available whenever wanted also a very nice touch. Pillows were rather old and well used. Room quite small, difficult to access wardrobe. Couldn't open window, luckily it was a mild night, rather than hot but the room did feel stuffy. Having confirmation in advance that check out was 11am then receiving a message at 10:13am stating checkout was 10am. Also was shocked to receive an email the day before we were due to stay that personal ID, eg driver's licence, passport, was required, this was never requested on arrival or during our stay but did seem very strange to receive after booking and paying in full, with no cancellation allowed, a couple of weeks before our stay. Had difficulty getting most channels on the television, could only view one and it wasn't a channel we'd usually watch.

louise (6/5): Apart from the selfish television guests the hotel was perfectly adequate for what we needed. - The 24 hour service night porter was very helpful - and it was great that he could let us in as late as we needed. The girl at reception in the morning was great too. We didn’t bother with the hotel breakfast and instead went to the very close Tescos which served us a magnificent breakfast. On arrival we were ignored for at least ten minutes by the manager who, without making eye contact or acknowledging our arrival, kept chatting on the phone re unnecessary detail for someone booking by phone. During this a young boy was clearly aware that we should have been at least acknowledged, a smile and a gesture of the head would have done, and did his best to help us with checking in. I don’t think the woman acknowledged us even while processing our arrival and carrying on talking. Boy 120% - woman Nul points. The hotel has a sound problem, and unfortunately the night we stayed there was a couple in a nearby room who had the television on loudly up until 5.45 am.
Rhona (9/5): Would highly recommend this super comfy and welcoming hotel - We loved the ease of everything. Trish, the owner was very kind and welcoming. The staff were all fantastic. The rooms were bright, airy, comfortable. We had three nights with delicious dinners and very plentiful portions…..Steak and Ale Pie etc 😊😊 Dog Friendly. Convenient parking Everything made in house! Waitress forgot to bring butter and jam with our toast and milk for our coffee at breakfast. Also slight noise at night from 'Sharkey's' across the road but stopped before we slept.

Scott (5/5): - This hotel represents good value for money for the area. The rooms, whilst basic, are clean and comfortable. I booked this hotel because I knew from staying there the week before that the bar stayed open until 11, thus giving me somewhere to sit. However, when I arrived back at the hotel at 10pm the miserable woman informed me that she had closed the bar and that I could either go to my room with a drink or go to one of the bars down the High Street. When I booked the hotel through booking.com the checkout time was 11pm. However at 10.15, I received a message from the hotel that checkout was 10am. I visit this area almost weekly at the moment but have decided not to book this hotel again.

Gary (4/5): Overpriced room for a shoddy experience. - Proximity to town is good. Cooked breakfast was best bit of stay. While it’s an old building the room was scruffy and couldn’t open window for fresh air. Sign said listed building so was requested to ask staff about windows being opened. Inner glass panel was a pain and difficult to reach to net curtain to see out. View was of car park and street and commercial area. Bathroom decor was bad. Water stains down badly painted walls. No heating for two nights only one of which I was advised about. No hot water during one evening and not advised of that either. Got a cold reception from front desk when I came back with takeaway food. Told to take packaging down to reception so as not to smell out room. Found that quite hypocritical as the stairwell smelled of food all the time from the kitchen. Also had to request sheet change half way through my 18 night stay as there seemed no intent for it to be done otherwise. Flat screen tv was the size of a large Tablet. Staff mostly fine but one was unhelpful when I complained I’d no heating on second occasion. Sharks bar is noisy every weekend which you can clearly hear at night. Didn’t use bar dining as I considered it overly expensive.

Breakfast was most enjoyable. Let's be positive whilst answering this question - suggestion is that you have a better hoover for the carpets and one with a good suction.

Iain (9/5): - Cooked breakfast was nice and hot freshly cooked. Evening neal which i had was very good and was a good sized portion. Freshly cooked.. No lift is the only thing that i found worth complaining about.
