Guest Reviews
- Gaelle (9/5): Thank you for this great local experience - The family was very welcoming
I loved the evenings when they were playing the ukulele and singing.
The dorm is clean
I recommend this homestay Think about bringing a mosquito spray
- Aurélien (8/5): -
- Jamie (10/5): Beautiful and comfortable - We loved our stay at Sunrise Lagoon! Lice and the Family were very kind and helpful. The activities were cool and included shark snorkelling, a trip to the Sawai-i-Lau caves, spear fishing or normal fishing, a massage and a school visit. Although we only did the caves and the shark snorkelling, we highly recommend it. Also, you could walk to the blue lagoon in about 20-30 minutes and have really lovely views along the way. The rooms were really nice and clean and at night there was always a cooling breeze coming through the window! Making it live up to its name was the sunrise above the ocean every morning which was great to watch. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner was always at 8am, about 1pm and 7pm and was always very yummy! Of course it is a homestay after all and an Island in the middle of the ocean, so cell reception was limited which wasn’t horrible for us to go without our phones for a while. The power was on all day but out at night, lights were on throughout the night to the toilets and also optional in our dorm room though. But there was still plenty of space left in the day to charge all our electricals. Nothing! Thank you again for everything :) we’d love to come again someday.
- Terry Axford (4/5): - I liked the people I met there. I just got the feeling that Joe and Lice were kind of exhausted from being hosts all the time

- Laura (10/5): -
- Jessica Natascha (8/5): -
- Eva (9/5): Such a lovely part of the world - Wow where do I begin, from start to finish this stay was magical. Bags were carried to the room, accommodating to our big group (there was 8 of us).
Our host lithe was very friendly and welcoming, she really made us feel part of the family and safe at her home. The home cooked meals were delicious and never disappointing. There was also coffee and tea offered to us throughout the day.
There were daily activities available for an extra cost but it was reasonably priced. This included snorkelling with reef sharks, visiting the caves, fishing, fire dancing and lots more. They also invited us to play volleyball with the family. The facilities were basic, be prepared to live the island life. Make sure the bring towels and body wash etc.
- Flavia (10/5): -
- TRACY (7/5): Double room value for the money, but we are only 2 people, 200 fjd incl two meals per night too much - The staff and those rooms on.the beach front Mainteinance
- Guest (8/5): Loved the experience. Very relaxing being away from city life! - Beautiful location and homestay experience
Food was great, vegetarian and fish. Lovely family and great island experience. So nice to see the children enjoying the water, fishing and relaxing on the island. 30 min walk to blue lagoon with crystal clear water. We were the only people there for 2 hours. Many activities to do if you are keen and the family will take you. We got very sunburnt the first day unfortunately so the fresh aloe Vera was great! We were in the ocean view buree which was nice for the evening breeze. Homemade ice creams and doughnuts a short walk down the beach. It was tricky to find our way on the path so a small sign would help when you are hot
- Markus (9/5): - The host family is extremely friendly and welcoming and the location is incredible. Just 20 minutes walking to the blue lagoon.
I highly recommend this place!
- Guest (9/5): Beautiful stay with lovely host family! - A wonderful stay with delightful hosts! Lice, Jo, and their big, beautiful family were so welcoming and hospitable. Our stay met and exceeded our expectations. The room and ensuite bathroom were simple and rustic just as advertised, but totally functional. We were blessed with beautiful sunsets and ocean sounds to lull us to sleep. Activities are reasonably priced, too. Make sure to bring sufficient cash to maximize activities! If you need cash in a pinch, there is a trail across the island to Nanuya Island Resort, and a shop where you can cash out (maximum $150 FJD). We went snorkeling and hand line fishing with Jo, who was very helpful (especially during fishing) and we did actually catch some fish! Meals are simple but delicious and usually include fresh pineapple and breadfruit (and will include the fish you catch if you go fishing). I recommend walking around the island during the day to meet the other homestay hosts and guests—the people are truly delightful! We played cards with the kids and chatted for hours with other hosts and guests. Lovely time with some lovely people. For those considering staying here, I couldn't recommend it enough: just remember that IT IS NOT A RESORT so don't expect it to be. All my clothes are sandy now :(
- Guest (10/5): - Don’t mistake Lice’s straight-to-the-point attitude as lack of friendliness - she is very caring and helpful and her island food is fantastic!
It’s the best place for an authentic experience of the local lifestyle, beautiful coral snorkeling, and remote work with very decent reception with Digicel.

- Simon (10/5): - Great experience and detox, both digitally and gastronomic. The location was paradise. Fresh fruit and fish every day. Super people Needs more attention to hygiene and cleanliness.
- Thomas-Louis (9/5): Unbelievable - Incredible homestay!
I had a very complicated drop-off from my previous homestay, which unfortunately cost me my camera, passport, and headphones. They were kind enough to try to help, but sadly it was too late. Still, during these two nights, I had such a great time — they are incredibly kind people, and the prices for the activities are very attractive! I highly recommend this place with my eyes closed!!
Thank you again ❤️ Nothing
- Williot (10/5): - Le personnel est top ! Il y avait beaucoup de vent.
- Maria (10/5): Highly recommend - Joe and Lice were fantastic hosts. They made us feel welcome, accommodated any needs and cooked fantastic meals for us. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful environment.
Would highly recommend to those who want to avoid resorts. That we couldn't stay longer because of our pre booking elsewhere
Misschien iets vaker schone handdoeken. Bed lag niet zo heel fijn
- Thomas (8/5): Absolutely stunning location - a great option for a budget stay. - The location is unbelievable. It is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been. It also had a large dorm room for our family of six. It was great value for money. You are not looking staying with a family or in someone’s home, so it is not a true homestay, more a backpacker’s hostel. Which is fine if that’s what you’re looking for. We had a more authentic experience in other homestays. The staff provided a great service, but were not as welcoming as other places we stayed.
- Veronika (8/5): - Whatever the mama prepaired was great! Simple life - you eat what youre served:) Windy the whole time.. maybe changes with the season. We were there end of august.
- cotuski (6/5): Priced as a resort, services of the worst motel - At first, the owner family seems a bit rough around the edges - but, with time, they eventually become lovely; honestly, of all the hotels on all the islands, Sunrise Lagoon was the one with the cheapest meal plan (10 for breakky, 10 for lunch, 20 for dinner). The food was a 3.5/5 (breakky is one deep fried option, one fruit option, tea or coffee - they don't have butter, and one can of jam per day for all guests to share, which is really uncomfortable)
Tea and coffee are free during the whole day, which is awesome
The location is amazing: beachfront, just a short walk away to the Blue Lagoon and other nice beaches on the island
The kids of the neighbouring villages (more precisely, the one where the tea shop is) are amazing and made my stay! To start with, they charge 10 for the pick up, just to let me waiting for 40 minutes at another resort (obviously couldn't use their facilities) just because a tour group gathered up last minute and they preferred to make 360 than to honour their commitment with 1 backpacker staying at the cheapest dorm. They couldn't agree with their neighbours to pick me up or offer any other solution, other than having me wait without access to a toilet or water after a rocky 4-hour trip.
Bought the cave tour with them for 120 (which is honestly very pricey for what it is) - the youngest daughter is the guide. The property (and everywhere around) charges for the mask rental, and, at the first opportunity, the daughter lent my mask to a total stranger of another hotel, without even consulting me!!! I was photographing my friends underwater, and when I turned around and couldn't find the mask, I panicked cause I though it had sunk to the bottom, that's when she calmly said "oh no, a guide from another hotel is using it"
Also, she pretends not to understand you or not to speak good English when it's not convenient for her
The dormitory facilities (2 toilets + 2 showers) are very basic and did not make my cleanliness cut - which is not very high, considering that I travel the world staying in hostels everywhere. They're shared with the family.
The first night was extremely noisy - not exactly their fault, as the neighbours were having a party to celebrate the new boat, but the yelling extended to our windows
They complained about letting us use any more than 1 mossie coil/night, even though they leave the room wide open the whole day
The mattresses are extremely old and used - there are sides where the foam is nearly inexistent whereas on others, it's higher
The generator only runs from 6pm to 9pm daily, so make sure to bring 2 fully charged, high-capacity power banks, esp if you have more than 1 phone like me.
- Max (10/5): Beautiful family and island - The island was so tropical with bright blues and greens everywhere. I had the two dogs join me for hikes and sunset walks often, they were great company. The family was also very helpful and welcoming. Food was good standard for what you pay, and same with the room. Definitely recommend home stays instead of resorts if you want a more remote and real Fijian experience. Nothing
- David (10/5): Peaceful, beautiful, with communal meals giving the opportunity to socialise. - This was different from other homestays I stayed in; not exactly in somebody's home, but more than a hostel. The staff all knew my name. The dormitory was spacious. There was no electricity in the dormitory, but they provided a small battery powered lamp. I got used to the cold showers. There were buckets and bowls with free washing powder for washing clothes in the stored rainwater. They sold bottled water in the kitchen. There was electricity in the dining area for charging phones, although it was not available all day. The sockets are Australian pattern, so make sure you have the right adapter with you. Communal meals were good and we were serenaded by a singer with a guitar. I was a solo traveller, so the communal meals and evening with the other guests was welcome. There was a house selling delicious homemade ice cream along the beach. Two of us bought the same ice cream and I got diarrhoea but my friend was OK. Loperamide sorted it quickly, so make sure you have some with you! The beach was beautiful. It was windy at the time of year I went. The sea was calm enough to swim in some days and there was a more sheltered beach to swim at if you walked over the top of the island to the resort on the other side. You could withdraw cash at that resort, either from the shop or ATM. Somebody was offering lunch outside a home by the beach there, which was good. On the day when wind dropped and the sea was calm enough they organised a snorkelling with sharks trip on the coral reef between the islands. They provided snorkelling gear. Highly recommended if you like that sort of holiday. Not much to not like! All I can think of is that there was only one reclining chair on the grass by the beach. We could have done with two. There were ordinary plastic chairs available.
- Andrew (5/5): Rustic village experience. - The accommodation gives visitors a genuine village living experience. Food was fantastic, particularly the dinners. Good access to walking trails to visit the broader island and other beaches (including the beautiful Blue Lagoon). Basic facilities and rooms. Unfortunately, the onshore wind was incessant when we visited, so we spent most of time on the other (western) side of the island.
- Emma (8/5): So fantastic! Relaxing and adventurous at the same time - Being right on the beach and being able to walk to blue lagoon. It was great to play cards and chat with the other travellers too. Facilities and bed could be updated but fine for what we paid
- Willem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - The food was delicious! Plenty of food in the plate in every meal and local choices. We enjoyed our stay there. Beautiful place and really good experience! The beach is incredible and the island in general a complete paradise. They were not extremely friendly but good enough for us to be honest. Very attentive, that was good. Also we missed some chairs or hammocks or just a place to chill outdoors to read a book or just contemplate the landscape. Overall really good place.
- Celine (10/5): Lovely and great value homestay, would definitely stay again! - Such a lovely homestay. Exactly as advertised, basic, off the beaten track. I had a lovely room right on the sea! Lovely dinner and breakfast each night, vegetarian was no problem. Really warm family, looked after everything. Can do activities organised from the homestay too. 25 min walk (plenty of little hills through a forest!) to a small shop and a lovely beach. Very safe. Perfect if you want a budget option instead of a resort. Would definitely stay again!
- Bruna (9/5): Superb -
- Katrin (6/5): This home stay accomodates quite a few guests. We felt that the staff was a bit more reserved than what we experienced o - Settled straight on the beach, sunrise watching without leaving the bed. A walk across the mountain gets you to the boathouse where the shop is and there is also a beautiful long beach to walk along and have a swim or snorkel - which is closed up if the cruise is there though… Check out by 10am, the transfer boat left at 12:30… so waiting outside was a bit odd, but we made it work for us…
- Paula (7/5): Good backpacking spot through the Yasawa Islands - This is a beautiful island and the family was very kind. It is a humble accommodation appropriately priced. We loved the island! Expect the bare basics (no internet and limited electricity). This is what you are paying for. The family is incredibly kind and helpful!
- Imane (8/5): Value for money - Nice place relax - Beach access.
I recommend to take breakfast / dinner.
Space in the dormitory, it’s like big from with beds but it’s pretty clean. - The food (depends of the family, if the men go fishing or not you don’t have much food).
- The shower.
- Jay (10/5): It was a great experience to stay with Lici and her family and share the space, time, talks, meals with them. A experien - Beautifully located right next to the blue sea. Has a hill top as well for good views. Good and clean facilities provided for a home stay. NA
- Frederik (6/5): Location great, food and personal not so - Great location and beautiful island Staff seemed quite uninterested and sometimes even rude. The girl serving us during breakfast and dinner seemed pretty pissed the whole time.
The food could be better and more healthy, especially the breakfast.
- Elke (7/5): We would have expected more.... - A great 20 min jungle Walk to wonderful blue Lagoon beach, having an excellent Cappuccino at nanuya Island Resort.
We had a Little Bungalow direct at the Beach with bathrooms and shower and great ocean View. Bure and bathrooms not really Clean, everything is really Run down and needs renovation,The Younger daughter of the Host should try to be more friendly to the guests, serving Food .. Do Not expect a fijian experience at this homestay.
- Tia (9/5): Great, quiet location, with homemade, organic ice cream nearby ☺️ - Our hostess and her family were so nice! The meals were very generous in helpings. Breakfast was delicious! Her homemade breads and other goodies were fantastic! The swimming, I could stay forever, if the sun wasn’t so cruel❣️ Be cautious of the dogs; one tried to bite a child’s face, with no provocation on the child’s part. Otherwise, a nice, quiet location to get away. Mattresses are needing replacement for longer stays 😉 (or older bodies)
- Thierry (8/5): Excellent Homestay - We had a great time at Sunrise Lagoon with our 4 children during our 4 nights there. Our host were excellent. The food was good and you can do a lot of activities there. We went on a shark seeing tour (snorkeling) and the famous cave in Yasawa. Thanks to Emma and the captain Tiga our guide on those tour.
We had the dormitory room which can welcome up to 9 people. Do not except a resort type of confort. The mattress are a bit old with no electricity in the room but the price is unbeatable in the yasawa and it’s really worth it.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (2/5): Disappointed - - on the beach
- cute coffee place down the beach - unfriendly hosts
- hosts didnt eat with us and were clearly more interested in us paying for the stay than getting to know us, we didnt get the ‘homestay’ feeling
- unclean room (particularly the toilet shower area in our room)
- during a spearfishing trip they dropped me into the water alone and warned me about sharks then took the boat 200m away to fish themselves, as soon as the fish was shot big sharks started swarming and I was concerned for my gun / my own safety and they later said when locals go to this same spot they go in a group of 7+ to ward off the sharks
- the kitchen was very unclean with many flies
- David (9/5): The tranquility and escapism was exceptional. - The tranquility and escapism was exceptional. No more than 3 other guests and sometimes, it was just us. We had a hut that overlooked/was on the beach.
Lice (host/boss) cooked exceptional food and there was amazing variety. She was always very friendly.
Peace and quiet. No Wifi and very much ‘off grid’ - we loved it. Solar powered phone charging. Rain water to drink, but bottled water could be purchased.
A range of excursions are available at a small additional cost.
Cash only homestay.
Great reef snorkelling. Ice creams along the beach and a little tea shop that sold great curried crab. We would love to have interacted with the family. Maybe eating together.
- Dioné (7/5): Nice family run homestay - A lovely family run homestay on a great beach. Walkable to Blue lagoon beach. Great Snorkel trip and nice to get to know the family and of course baby Jo. The fresh fish was amazing as was the roast chicken. Thank you Lice and Jo... x
- Lyndall (10/5): Lice and Joe and their beautiful family made us feel at home in their piece of paradise - Stunning location. Wonderful hospitality and kind, friendly hosts. Relaxed carefree atmosphere Nothing
- Katsavos (7/5): Good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Great location where u can visit the Blue Lagoon beach, get some organic ice cream next door, and get some doughnuts at the Tea House 5 mins away. Would highly recommend staying here.
- Pattamon (8/5): Special moment with sunrise from the bed! - Run by a lovely family, this place is right on the beach on the east side of the island. The famous Blue Lagoon beach is on the west side, accessible by 30 mins walk. They have 2 private rooms with bathroom by the sea which are the BEST; 1 family bungalow with bathroom but not as breezy as the seaside rooms; 1 private room with shared bathroom (share with dorm); and 10 dorm beds in one big room. I initially stayed in the dorm which was ok but the very rundown bathroom put me off big time. So, I moved to the seaside private room where I had such a great stay…room right on the beach with good breeze and sunrise view from the bed! If your budget allows, I would really recommend the seaside room.
They also organize activities/day trips eg. Cave, snorkeling, fishing, etc. (extra charged) and have kayak/paddle board for free. Fellow travelers that I met there are great. Note that electricity for charging is only on 6-9pm daily. We managed fine with phone charging and all. But having a fan on some hot and no-wind nights was something I really wish I had while staying 8 days at this lovely place.
As mentioned, a major area of improvement is the shared bathrooms and toilets. They are very rundown and not so clean. More than half the time, the toilets couldn’t really flushed. Also, adding mosquitos nets will be great since sleeping with mosquitos coils may not be the healthiest thing long term. The host said that they are doing renovation soon, I hope I get to be back to visit one day and wish all the best for this lovely place :)
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful room location overlooking the beach/ocean. Meals were hearty and the fillets of fish served were fresh and meaty.
- Troy (8/5): great local experience at the beach - literally slept meters from the beach. waking up to just hearing waves was amazing. loved all of the food, even if it was relatively simple. the hosts were very friendly and helpful. fly screens in the windows were good. tours to the caves went well and there is a reef to snorkel about 50m away. we all sat around and ate meals together which was great look it’s quite rustic. the mattresses were not comfortable and the bathrooms very basic. but the experience of being there was amazing anyway. we were unlucky to only have limited other guests around and skipped our last night to join a neighbouring resort for the last night (NYE). cell phone signal was hit and miss but i have had that for 2 weeks in fiji. a bit frustrating when you need to book things (fyi just walk up the hill behind the place and the internet works a bit better)
- Daliah-moana (10/5): An amazing family home stay with the kindest people who shared their beautiful world with us. - The food was good. We loved the more traditional foods served.
- Michael (7/5): An out of the way stay - You will receive a great welcome from the family. We are an older couple 60’s but we wanted to stay with a family reminding us of our back packing days some 45yrs ago. The evening meal although basic will fill you up. The fresh fish is delightful. Not so much didn’t like so my comments are to help the owners make a little more profit. The bathroom needs to be urgently retitled this really lets it down. Breakfasts need more variety some eggs would be great, porridge is available. Home made yogurts and fruit. Butter and jam, homemade surly. The homemade bread would then be delicious. I’d spend some money on better pillows and the mattresses need replacing.
Do this and I believe you could charge 50% more easily, perhaps people would stay longer.
- Matthias (9/5): Superb - A lovely time hosted by a caring family in an exceptional place. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to see "the real Fiji", it was a unique experience - I'm very glad I decided for a homestay and not a resort. Also great for solo travellers as you'll have meals etc with other guests. I even extended my stay.
- Mary (7/5): Good - I like that it is just a few steps to the beach
No electricity in the rooms but had solar light provided from the host
Beware lots of mosquitoes so need more bug spray at hand The washroom/toilet might need maintenance
- Amy (7/5): Basic ammenities, great location, plenty of activities to do. - Friendly staff, great location, good meals, great value for money. Plenty of activities to do (free and paid). Cave trip was excellent (120fjd). Enjoyed meeting and talking to other guests at meal times. Uncomfortable beds and pillows in dorm.
- Lauri (10/5): Authentic amazing - If you wanna have an authentic experience on Fiji go here!
Don’t just go to resorts!
Witness the real village live. It is much more impressive.
Thank you to everyone making our stay so pleasant
- Finn (10/5): It was a lovely stay at sunrise being able to live close with the local family from the Nanuya island. The food was exce - That it was literally living next to the local family Maybe the showers
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional - Really friendly staff, clean and great views from room
- Joey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabella (9/5): Amazing! - Me and my friend stayed here for 3 nights in the shared dorm, we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect, right by the beach, a few minutes walk away you can get homemade ice cream and donuts. Blue lagoon is about 15-20 minute walk away, and the walk has such beautiful scenery. Me and my friend are vegetarian (which wasn’t an issue at all) and the food was amazing, Lice and her family really looked after us, they’re so lovely! As all the travellers sat together to eat and play board games it made it a super social environment which was awesome, was easy to make friends from all different age groups.
Just keep in mind this is a homestay, there is only electricity at certain times (was still pretty easy to charge phones etc), no wifi, mobile signal patchy - but it’s actually awesome being disconnected from the world, you’re more living in the moment! FYI make sure you bring cash!
- Kiera (9/5): Great spot for Blue Lagoon beach access - Lovely friendly family who made great dinners for all travellers to sit down and eat together. 2 super friendly dogs who loved going on a beach walk with you. Not too long a walk to Blue Lagoon which had incredible snorkelling and we were alone there for most of the day (the family told us which day the cruise would be at the beach so we chose the other day). They have snorkelling equipment, a kayak and a paddle board that you are free to use. Lo’s cafe is close by and has snacks like home made fries as well as typical cafe snacks. The accommodation is basic but that’s already made clear as you know it’s not an island resort. (More friendly and communal with other travellers compared to the big resorts)
- Guillaume (7/5): Good - Secluded place with great snorkelling opportunities in the immediate vicinity .
Snorkelling gear / SUP and kayak free to use
Nice breakfast
Nice staff
Shark swimming was nice and cheap and spotted a few
Dorm is very large … Lunch and dinner were not very varied … a lot of rice and potatoes dish .. very heavy
One evening we didn’t have any water for shower and had to shower by the well … however was fixed in the morning
Bed was not the most comfy

- Blincoe (10/5): Exceptional - Back to basics and family support that included 3 generations. Fourth, underway. Lethe and Joe top of the tree and excellent hosts. Great communal feel. Visitors from all corners of the world. Enjoy. No resort style facilities but plenty love. Nil
- Maxfr (10/5): Exceptional - Joe and is wife are amazing !
Friendly, nice and deep people if you are looking for a truely local experience that's just the right place !
The facilities are good, the food they make is really good too, the beach on this island is amazing (coral in front of the resort, blue lagoon beach not far).
Also the price is really good value too, I have spend more than 1 month in the Fidgis island and this homestay was far away the best experience I neither either ad they're !
- Clementi (7/5): Good -
- Cynthia (10/5): Friendly, helpful family. Beautiful location. Plentiful food. - It was a magical place with a room overlooking the beach. The blue lagoon, a 20 minute walk away, is gorgeous, and the snorkeling exceptional. The paid snorkeling trip they took us on was amazing as our group was small and they took us to more sheltered areas as it was particularly windy when we were staying there. The food was good with large portions. The family was friendly. Love this place and the island. I had tummy troubles on the islands so for those with sensitive stomachs, perhaps buy the bottled water, which they sell.
- Hugh (8/5): Great experience on the hit and miss islands - Location great for roaming, helpful family if you need anything and great value for money. Food could be a bit more varied with less bread and rice. Super hard mattress if it’s not your thing.
- Megan (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (5/5): Basic but cute in a rustic way - Very cute looking (from the outside) accommodation, authentic homestay experience, lots of cute kids and chickens running around and friends dogs. Nice location right on the beach front. Picturesque 20 min walk to the Blue Lagoon over the other side of the island. Loved the communal eating as it was so nice to talk to over visitors from around the world. Rats and cockroaches were off putting. Our room’s door and windows wouldn’t shut so it was very loud at night, but it was quite windy when we stayed so maybe wouldn’t be a problem if it was calm weather. Our bed was super uncomfortable, a mattress on some sort of base on the floor. No warm water for a shower so just expect cold showers. No electricity in the rooms, but we did read that before we stayed. Was just hard to see anything in the toilet / shower area at night.
Food was super basic but generous portions. Often felt like we were an inconvenience if we had to ask for anything, not the most friendly hosts but the children were very sweet and friendly.
- Jason (7/5): We had a great time. Don’t expect to be pampered - Location. Great value, beautiful setting. Friendly staff Meal plan was a little unclear
- Pierrick (9/5): Superb - Very nice place.
Lovely family
Prices are cheap so don't expect a luxury resort.
- Sean (7/5): Good - Two super cute dogs! Nice quiet location on a white sandy beach
- W (7/5): Good -
- Maria (9/5): I highly recommend this homestay! - The ocean front bure was beautiful!
Great location, easy 20 min walk to the blue lagoon where the beach and snorkeling are great.
Amazing food and lovely hosts. We also loved the dogs who will guide you through the island.
Vinaka! Only thing is that when the blue lagoon cruise comes, you are not allowed to use a big part of the beach, as its their private area, but still have other spots to hang out.
- Patricia (8/5): The island is beautiful, great to live with locals, and we were grateful to be invited to drink cava. - We recently stayed at a beachfront house on Nanuya Island and had a wonderful experience. The views and sunrises were absolutely amazing, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers. The food was nice and homemade, truly delicious. Lice and Jo were very nice hosts, making our stay even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a cozy, authentic experience, this homestay is a great choice! While the bathroom was quite basic, it's important to remember that this is not a resort, so adjust your expectations accordingly
- Tracey (10/5): Loved every second, we can't wait to come back. - Lithe (unsure of spelling) and Joe were fantastic and helpful.
Location was truly stunning.
Food was delicious, home cooked and plentiful. Many of our meals came fresh from the ocean.
Room is very basic as shown in photos.
Approximately 8 tours to choose from . The snorkelling was incredible. Take cash! Nothing negative to say, but be prepared for cool showers and basic accommodation.
- Garth (9/5): Great relaxed place to stay. Food really good and great value. - Location great and rustic. Family friendly, helpful and food amazing. Low key and within village. Walks across island to Blue Lagoon. Nice local cafe just down the beach. Snorkeling quite good near accomodation. Great room right on the beach.
- Hailey (8/5): Very good -
- Chloe (8/5): Wonderful stay in heart of the community - thank you Lice and Joe - I had such a wonderful few weeks staying with Lice and Joe (and the family) - they made me so welcome and really like being part of the family. The island is small but easy to get around and to reach the blue lagoon in 15 minutes walking (some uphill but not too challenging). The dorm is simple and there is limited power and no wifi but I didn’t find these off putting. It adds to the charm of the place, living with the local community and embracing how they live. The food portions were generous in size (rice and fish and amazing homemade bread at breakfast). It was really nice to eat as a group and chat with a variety of travellers from all over the world. Lice is amazing host who goes out of her way to make you feel at home. They take a lot of pride in ensuring the guests are comfortable and enjoy the island life. If you are looking to experience a real Fiji home stay experience, this is the place for you. I hope to return one day in the not too distant future. (Do bring headtorce and a battery pack and cash - there is charging in the evening).
- Jorge (10/5): Lovely place, great location - Location and friendly hosts Nothing
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Manca (8/5): Good value for this price and this location - - beautiful location, beach, ...
- free rent of snorkeling equipment
- very good dinners
- beer, sodas and water to purchase
- very nice owners
- you could walk to the other side of the island and you're in Blue Lagoon - stray dogs bitting people
- mattresses weren't really clean
- breakfast. Supposed to be the best meal of the day, it was often bread and jam - no nutritional value
- no hangers or shelves for your stuff, just bed
- Corry (10/5): Great homestay experience - Got to meet and share stories with most of the travellers.
Intimate inclusive family atmosphere
Lulled to sleep by next door waves
Walk across island to snorkel blue lagoon
Beautiful sunrise over ocean
Buree right on the beach front.
Will come back On the ocean
Friendly family atmosphere
Snorkelling blue lagoon
- Marusa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adriana (4/5): Disappointing - The place offered very good price deals and you could meet lot of travellers as we all had breakfast and dinner together. I would recommend the cave trip organised also by this stay. The nice thing is also that the stay is just on the opposite side of island from the famous Blue Lagoon, so you can walk around 20-30 minutes from the place directly which gives you lot of flexibility. The rooms were very simple which would be fine for the good prices but the beds were really uncomfortable + the room had no light. The room also did not have proper window. Since the location is very windy, the "windows" made lot of noice and it was hard to fall asleep. The showers are also not very nice, so if you are looking for a very cheap deal, it is a good choice but be prepared for really simple and uncomfortable conditions.
- Shey (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful place, beautiful family. Delicious food. Lots of activities!!
Lithe’ and her family really went above and beyond with everything. All of the family were such beautiful people
And made our stay that much better.
Would recommend and definitely will try and get back there one day.
Thankyou so much from my family!
- Catherine (10/5): Paradise ❤️ - So so beautiful 😍
Live is a fabulous host. The location is gorgeous! I loved it. But make sure you know what a home stay is.
It was the perfect place for total relaxation
- Bastien (10/5): Very good - The staff, the food !!! Nothing !
- Roman (7/5): Good -
- Spencer (7/5): Good - Lice was lovely. Very kind. The beach was pretty nice! it’s very basic. the dinner was pretty good, but the breakfast was really not good. One day they served us chocolate cake. Literally just chocolate cake. we actually left the homestay one day early and went to a big resort. it’s ok, but VERY basic. Just be mindful.
