- Kaye (4/5): - We are a couple in their late 70's. We were told our room would be ready at 12 noon. We arrived shortly after that and found that it was not ready. We attended a nephew's funeral in the afternoon and my husband was quite unwell when we got back and had trouble getting up the stairs. About 5 minutes later someone came to the door and offered us alternative accommodations but as it meant tackling the stairs again I refused it. On second thoughts I should have accepted but my husband was not well enough to have to move at that time. My problem is if that unit was available in the afternoon, why were we not offered it on arrival, even if it cost more I would have preferred it, especially as it apparently had its own en suite.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't stay here on a Public Holiday - we arrived on a WA public holiday, not aware as not PH in our state. Not informed when booking, received txt 4 days before arrival to advise PH and everything closed, key to room would be in a security box, no information as to location of box and that our room was offsite. Only stayed 1 night everything still closed when we left at 0930am the next day.
- FAYE (10/5): Excellent Hotel - The Hotel & Staff were exeptional. The meals were Beautiful although a tad overpriced. Having said that they were no more overpriced than most restaurants through the Wheatbelt. We will stay again next time we are in Northam.

- Ramona (4/5): - We did not realise it had shared bathrooms. 3 bathrooms for the whole top floor of rooms. The bathrooms were filthy by morning, each time I had a shower there were public hairs on the shower floor, they only get cleaned once a day which is not enough. We also did not realise the room is just a bedroom with fridge and tv. If you want to have coffee or more water you have to go to the bathrooms for access to water which is very unhygienic. We couldn't wash out our cups as there were no facilities in the room to do it. It's extremely basic and not worth it. They shouldn't be allowed to have shared bathrooms and no kitchen facilities in this day especially with covid. Ship cabins and caravan park cabins are way better than this. Stay here as a last resort. The only good thing is the rooms are serviced daily which thankfully refills a litre bottle of water in fridge our only access to water. But that is honestly it. Never again!

- Roberto (6/5): - We stayed at the Dukes Inn, midweek, for two nights at The Quarters, across the road from the main building. The room is nice and fairly new, clean and confortable. Everything was okay until the next morning, when the Sun rose and lightened the room making impossible to sleep from 5:30am. On top of that, the next morning some other guests decide to congregate at the front of their (and our's) door and started talking and laughing from 6am until 6:30 when I opened the door and they realised someone else was still trying to sleep at 6:30 in the morning. So if you are travelling for work and waking up early it should not be a problem. But if you doing some tourism maybe you want to look for other options. As a suggestion for the hotel management: install some real sunblock blinds to allow a good night sleep for your guests. It is the minimum one would expect for the price you charge.

- Jane (4/5): - The property itself was a very nice old worldly federation style hotel with lovely big verandahs and friendly staff. Unfortunately the $100 queen room my wife and I stayed in for the night was pretty awful and tired. it felt like we were in a hostel situation with tired brown prison quality towels on the bed alongside some basic toiletries. Our room was dark and quite honestly depressing with old office furniture stacked just outside our room window, pigeons seemed to be nesting in it too. We did have a tv and a tea/coffee making facility and the air conditioning was adequate. Sadly for us it was a Friday night and the noise kept us awake until the early hours. The shared bathroom experience was unsurprisingly terrible and I'd advise anyone staying to pay for the upgrade for a private bathroom. The food they served was average at best and they charge $19.95 for a continental breakfast which seems pricey for this kind of establishment. The location isn't bad BUT you are a good ten minute walk into the town. the onsite parking is free and it's easily accessible. As I said before, all the staff I encountered were friendly and sitting on the second floor verandah was very pleasant in the early evening. would I recommend this hotel? No, no I wouldn't. There are better deals elsewhere.

Bathroom was spacious - however the shower head in our room could use some TLC as it was leaking out of the joins and spraying over the ceiling no matter how we adjusted it. Water was beautifully warm however, after a freezing night out at a wedding!
- Melissa (8/5): - This property has been meticulously renovated, and the decor is just stunning, our room was a little on the small size for two people and when booking I did request a QS bed but we ended up with a double but accepted as were only staying for one night. It is situated in a quiet residential location and its a reasonable walk to shops and cafes. The shared bathrooms were spotless and many to choose from, we never had to wait to use one and they weren't far from the rooms.

Our accommodation was across the road from Dukes Inn and looked to be quite new, very nicely appointed, clean and had absolutely everything we could need. The beds were comfy and the reverse cycle aircon warmed the room in about 5 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful so highly recommended. We had two adjoining rooms with a shared bathroom (called family 2 BR) for ourselves and our adult son.

Clean and comfortable just a shame i was next door to all the workmen who dont know how to go quietly to work at 5 in the morning or be quiet at night. - Dianne (8/5): April Holiday - The Dukes was a very pleasant experience and I will definitely be staying again in the future. My only comment would be that the dining room was a little too warm and one of my group had the entree and main meal brought out at the same time. The food was excellent.

We had a confirmed booking for the restaurant only to be told it was closed for Easter the staff we not very helpful in helping us find alternative arrangements for dinner, no apologies offered didn't show any empathy or care.
