Guest Reviews
- martybX5775VI (10/5): Excellent Accommodations and service in Zimbabwe - We stayed at the Old Drift Lodge on a recent (November, '25) visit and had a wonderful time. The staff were all very accommodating and helpful with any request or need. The game drives and river cruises were excellent and we saw an abundance of wildlife. The "tents" were hardly tents, they were more like luxury suites at a top end hotel. We will happily come back to ODL on future trips.
- Q8204PFmarks (10/5): A lodge and game reserve with a fascinating history, great location on the Zambezi and close to the Victoria Falls. - Our guide, Fusa, is an expert ranger with extensive knowledge of fauna and flora. He went out of his way to find great viewing on the Zambezi and in the reserve. The staff were attentive and helpful, all with a sense of humour. The lodge possesses a fascinating history, with its location on the river and proximity to the Victoria Falls.
- RosalieFoodie (10/5): Nature at its best - To the wonderful team at Old Driftwood,
From the moment we arrived, we knew Old Driftwood was something special a luxury riverside camp with unexpected charm, tucked along the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. The setting alone felt magical: canvas suites blending comfort with wilderness, soft sand pathways, and endless views of the waterhole where life unfolded from sunrise to nightfall.
This entire journey through Africa began as a trip for a medical conference, and we decided to add on a visit to Zimbabwe to see the legendary Victoria Falls, choosing to stay here at Old Driftwood. It ended up being one of the best decisions we made.
What made it even more meaningful was traveling with an incredible group of physicians and their families, people who travel the world to learn, teach, and share their knowledge. We couldn’t have asked for a better group to explore this corner of Africa with.
Each day at Old Driftwood started and ended with the Zambezi breathing beside us, hippos popping just their eyes and ears above the water, crocodiles gliding quietly along the banks, and whole families of elephants crossing the river with breathtaking grace. One river safari brought us face to face with nature’s raw truth: an elephant carcass along the shore, drawing vultures, crocodiles, and other scavengers. It was powerful, humbling, and unforgettable.
And always, the meals were exceptional beautifully prepared, thoughtful, and full of flavor. Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner felt like a celebration shared among friends.
King Solomon, your service was truly royal. Every detail you oversaw made us feel honored and looked after.
Farai, thank you for being the calm heartbeat of the camp — keeping us on schedule, guiding us effortlessly from one experience to the next, and making the logistics invisible so the magic could shine.
Mtha, your warmth demonstrated the soul of African hospitality — open, gracious, and deeply genuine.
Amanda, your playful spirit made every moment brighter. The impromptu birthday celebration for our dear friend Allison, your song in your native language and that delightful, bird-like tongue trill, is something we’ll cherish forever.
JB and Stephen, your passion for Zimbabwe’s land, culture, and wildlife brought the bush to life. You helped us see this country not just with our eyes, but with our hearts.
Alex, Love Mo, and Mtha, your smiles greeted us each day like morning sunshine. You made every meal feel personal and full of warmth.
And throughout our stay, the Zambezi shared her own stories — glowing at sunset, whispering through the reeds, carrying the sounds of the bush straight to our doorstep.
Thank you for turning our Zimbabwe journey into something far deeper than a post-conference trip. Old Driftwood wasn’t just a place we stayed, it became a place we felt connected, inspired, and grateful.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Your friends who will always remember Old Driftwood
- passportsannatwirl (10/5): Rugged idea but luxury in every way - Our stay at ODL exceeded my expectations! For a luxury camp site, it was heavy on the luxury and camp only meant it was set in the most beautiful natural settings including some elephant visitors! The staff were so welcoming and friendly and I left feeling like they were family!
- jmhebert2025 (10/5): An Amazing Stay when near Victoria Falls - The Old Drift lodge is amazing. The staff are amazing and the facility is great. There attention to detail and welcoming staff attend to your every need creating great value for price.
- Antonia006 (10/5): On the banks of the Zambezi River - I loved arriving by boat on the great Zambezi River. The staff in zim are so welcoming and the service was very good. Nice food also.
- 135paulas (10/5): Old Drift Lodge - exceptional - We stayed at this lodge for 3 nights and were in awe of everything...the accommodations were incredible, the service and food was excellent but most importantly, we felt safe and well taken care of. The guides and rangers are so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. If only tourism and hospitality were like this everywhere...thank you for providing us an amazing African experience.
- 283julian (10/5): A birders dream - We booked with the Old Drift Lodge to see Victoria Falls. The falls were great. But I believe the hidden treasure found at the Old Drift Lodge is its location on the Zambezi River allowing easy access to the river and the birds on the river. Our 2 guides, Fanuel and Presha, knew all the birds we saw on the river and were able to get us close for some great photos.
- C6362FWsusanf (10/5): Magical place!! - The Old Drift Lodge is a spectacular spot located on the Zambezi River with lots of wild life surrounding the lodge! The lodging accommodations are beautiful, well appointed and serviced. The food is outstanding and the entire staff could not be more gracious, helpful and engaging. What a wonderful place and vacation!
- YvonneB515 (10/5): Old Drift Lodge was a great way to start our safari adventure! - We loved everything about the Old Drift Lodge. Location on the Zambezi River was excellent. The accommodation was perfect. We had an elephant stroll pass our tent within minutes of checking in. Staff were so friendly and Vusa our guide was so knowledgable and passionate about the wildlife. So much to see and do ... including Victoria Falls, sunset and sunrise cruises and of course safari drives.
- melindam279 (10/5): Excellent - Our entire stay at Old Drift Lodge was nothing short of extraordinary! From the stunning accommodations to the delectable food and the phenomenal staff, every aspect blew us away! Presha, our game ranger, was an absolute gem—patient, kind, and full of knowledge. Each game drive was an exhilarating adventure, packed with learning and wonder. We anticipated spotting a few animals, but the overwhelming number that we encountered left us in awe! Picture this: lions roaring majestically, elephants gallivanting, zebras prancing, and giraffes gracefully nibbling leaves.Every moment was packed with excitement and discovery! Can't wait to coming back soon.
- 367vanessat (10/5): Highly Recommended - Old Drift Lodge Staff/Guides went above and beyond to make our Safari Experience Amazing! Beautiful accommodations, friendliest staff ever, excellent food, and extremely knowledgeable Guide/Trackers! Can't recommend enough!
- MaryAnnMichigan (10/5): Great place - Everything was great. Staff was wonderful. Our guide Stephen was so helpful and informative. Arranged for us to visit a village, not a tourist stop. This is a place not to miss. It was our last few days in Africa and one of the highlights.
- daryljohnson (10/5): Excellent lodge near Victoria Falls - We were a group of 6 ( 3 couples) and Old Drift Lodge was our first lodge at the start of a safari holiday. This is an excellent, small lodge in a great location on the banks of the Zambezi River. A very personalised experience.
Rooms were great ( and air conditioned) and the communal areas first class. All meals were really good.
Our guide ( JB) was fantastic and went out if his way to maximise our opportunity to see some amazing animals. The mix of boat and land based viewing was very good.
Highly recommend .
- priyankapG7132ET (10/5): Amazing lodging on the Zambezi!! - This lodge is nothing short of amazing!! We were looked after by the attentive staff from the minute we walked in. The waiters, guides, manager (Amanda), and housekeeping staff were all incredibly helpful. The food was delicious! The river safaris and game drives were full of exciting sightings and the included Vic Falls tour puts this place over the top. We can’t wait to come back!!
- Climber678436 (10/5): Best Lodge in Victoria Falls! - My husband and I stayed at Old Drift Lodge as part of our honeymoon, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond to make us feel so special. They surprised us with a stunning room that even had the option to sleep under the stars, which made the experience feel incredibly romantic.
They also coordinated a private dinner for us that was one of the highlights of our trip. The food throughout our stay was exceptional—every meal was delicious and beautifully presented.
Our game drives were incredible, and our guide, JB, was not only super knowledgeable about the animals but also about Victoria Falls and the surrounding nature. We were lucky enough to see hippos, giraffes, elephants, leopards, and so much more—it was such a dream.
What really stood out most was the service. Every single person we met was so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. They made us feel celebrated and cared for every step of the way.
Old Drift Lodge is a magical place, and we feel so grateful to have spent part of our honeymoon there. We can’t recommend it enough!
- laurenaquila (10/5): Trip of a lifetime - Trip of a lifetime! We had the most amazing experience at this lodge! Highly recommended! Staff was amazing and the rooms were incredible!
- CrankyChicken (10/5): Wow. Just wow. - The most amazing experience! From the moment you arrive by boat you are treated like royalty. The staff are absolutely brilliant, they cannot do enough for you. We had the same 2 waiters for the 3 nights, lots of conversation and laughs with them. Game drives were just myself and wife with an incredible number of animals seen, including leopards, elephants, lions, zebra, giraffes etc. River safaris were so lovely, peaceful on the river in the mornings with a lot of hippos, elephants and crocs. The food is amazing and sooo much of it. Whatever drink you want is available whenever you want it, with a fully stocked mini bar in the room, restocked daily with your choices. The rooms are huge and the plunge pool overlooking the Zambezi river is a very pleasant place to be. Our room was one of the 3 with the Star Suite, an outside elevated bed where you sleep under the stars and listen to the animals at night. A very unique experience. Old Drift Lodge is not cheap, however it is worth every cent for the once in a lifetime experience you have. 10/10 in all respects, you would not be disappointed staying here.
- 427brieh (10/5): Highly recommend - Amazing staff and amenities. Everyone was friendly, overly helpful and kind. The guides were knowledgeable and great! It was our honeymoon and they set up a candle lit dinner for us. The food was also very good. Highly recommend this establishment. This was our last stop in Africa and it was a perfect ending on our safari.
- Andrea123abc (10/5): Beautiful location and wonderful people! - Beautiful location and wonderful people! Presha was a fantastic guide and we had a great on the sunset cruise, safari drive and exploring the falls.
- chrisoY480RT (10/5): Awesome experience - Splendid setting metres from the Zambezi River, fabulous game drives with good animal viewing with very knowledgeable guides, standout was the hospitality and genuine warmth of the staff and sunrise or sunset boat trips on the Zambezi.
- edwarddietze (10/5): See the incredible wildlife of Africa and the beautiful natural wonder of Victoria falls while staying in luxury. - Wonderful experience at Old Drift Lodge. Right on the Zambezi River, you may very well have elephants right outside your door. Incredible wild life with extremely knowledgeable guides who know how to find any animal you'll want to see. You'll do sunset boat rides on the Zambezi River while sipping wine. Food is incredible. Old Drift Lodge is more than a safari. Victoria Falls is an incredible natural wonder close by that you won't want to miss. Your guide will get you there and accompany you all the way. Unforgettable trip.
- ntait76 (10/5): Highly recommend! - Our family had a great time at Old Drift Lodge in July. From the moment we were greeted at the airport and transported to the lodge via boat, the staff were warm, friendly and went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
There are many activities to choose from at the lodge and the team are knowledgeable and more than happy to work out an itinerary that suits your family. We had the same guide Life for the 3 days we were there and enjoyed hearing his stories as a local and getting to know more about the area, wildlife and the town. He made every outing a fun and interesting experience, and was respectful of the area and wildlife.
The food was delicious and high quality, served in a lovely outdoor setting and mealtimes always entertaining thanks to Providence. A bonus that we had a Boma dinner during our stay.
The tented family suite was extremely comfortable and spacious, perfect for our family of 4. We took advantage of the laundry service a few times which was super fast and efficient thanks to the housekeeping team.
Highly recommend Old Drift Lodge. While it is a short drive from Victoria Falls town and many of the activities, you are within the Zambezi National Park away from the crowds and surrounded by wildlife.
- C7859KMscottr (10/5): Amazing experience. - Couldn’t be happier with this facility. The staff is truly wonderful. The food was excellent. The guide was extremely informative and helpful. The rooms were truly great and so comfortable. The views were great. We loved the whole experience.
- malakachin (10/5): Great experience! - What an incredible experience it was to stay in Zambezi National Park, right alongside the majestic Zambezi River! You’re guaranteed to encounter wildlife—sometimes right in your own backyard. The lodge was beautifully maintained, and the entire staff was exceptionally accommodating, going out of their way to ensure every guest felt well taken care of. It was a perfect blend of adventure and comfort.
- natalietA9916HU (10/5): A warm and wonderful experience! - I think what truly made this holiday unforgettable is the staff and hospitality of this lodge. The comfort is next level and the way you are treated is beyond anything I have experienced in the world. And I have travelled extensively. The Zimbabwean people are simply the best. The rooms are luxurious. The food is very good. Best Kudu Carpaccio I have had. Thank you chef. As a South African I know Southern African wildlife well. Our ranger Jeremiah was the most knowledgable person I have met. He is brilliant!!! What I loved is that game drives are exclusive... we did not feel like it was a commercial safari experience. Private, quiet and everything is a surprise. Just as it should be in nature. Sometimes you see wildlife and sometimes you don't. Trip to the Vic Falls very memorable and beautiful. We definitely will be back and recommend to everyone. Thank you to the amazing people!! We are sad to leave.
- juliedB4934IA (10/5): Amazing ….. could not have been better - What an amazing place. Had a tented suite along the river with access for the wildlife.
Accommodation was luxurious, staff could not do enough to help and all inclusive meals excellent.
Alongside this were the daily game drives and cruises which were very well done and where we saw lots of wild animals.
A definite 5 star experience and one we will treasure forever.
- vonnym2014 (10/5): Stunning lodge in a stunning location - Had the great fortune to stay at Old Drift Lodge. The location is magnificent, with each cabin being located very privately by the water, with a deck and pool in front of each one..
Abundance of wildlife wandering around the property from elephants to Hippos, warthogs, antelope, birds.many opportunities to go on a boat on the Zambezi viewing numerous bird species, crocs and hippos. Food is excellent, with great choices and all dietary requests are met.
Short drive from the magnificent Victoria Falla.
- mamasmith10 (10/5): Best place to stay along the Zambezi river!! - Our group of three couple had an amazing stay here. Situated right on the banks of the Zambezi river, nestled among wild life, and excellent room with exceptional service! Going to tell all our friends who visit Africa to stay here!! This really was a gem!
- Errol (10/5): The Trip of a Lifetime - I enthusiastically endorse every other positive review of Old Drift Lodge. Our stay at Old Drift far exceeded our expectations. Being transported across the Zambezi river to the camp by boat was a wonderful way to start our visit. And we couldn’t have felt more welcomed upon our arrival. Everyone was so accommodating and everything was perfect. Our guide, Life, is mind-blowingly knowledgeable about everything in the area and is an excellent teacher. He is also a lot of fun. Our morning and afternoon excursions were all fantastic. Our tent was magnificent. Thank you for helping us to have the trip of a lifetime, and to gain a deeper respect and appreciation of African wildlife. We are spreading the word to our friends and family about Old Drift Lodge!
- BuddaChar (10/5): Perfect introduction to Safari in Zimbabwe on the Zambezi River - Our suite was rustic with all the amenities we needed, including air conditioning. We loved the deck located yards from the Zambezi, with a dipping pool, awesome breezes and views. Isolated from neighboring suites it was quiet and private. The central lodge was comfortable and inviting. Dining was on the deck, the food presentations beautiful as well as delicious. I can’t rave enough about the kind, professional and friendly staff. We were always greeted with damp, cool towels when we returned from an excursion. All the ranger guides were knowledgeable and proud to show their beautiful country and wildlife. We saw a family of hippos eating in the river, impalas, and more elephants than I could count.
You will not be disappointed if you choose this lodge.
- mitchell746 (10/5): AMAZING!!!!!! - Couldn't recommend this place highly enough. What an experience. Location / staff / accomadation / food, all amazing.
- pyoungsbmt (10/5): Zimbabwe , Sambezi River: Stay at the Old Drift Lodge - As two couples traveling together, we really enjoyed our first stop on our 18 day Africa trip by staying at the Old Drift Lodge on the Sambezi River. We arrived and were welcomed at the dock in the evening by the staff. The introduction to the common area and then our rooms was a joy. Our three and 1/2 day stay was packed with river and land safaris. We didn't miss a thing, including watching elephants drink from our private pool at our room along the beautiful wildlife filled river. The food was delicious and dining on the outside deck was so comfortable and provided a wonderful spot to enjoy an African evening under the dark star filled sky. What was really special was the expertise of the quides both on the river and the land. They made sure that we saw and enjoyed all the wildlife which was abundant. The kitchen baked a requested nectarine pie and I will mention that the spa was also a delight. Definitely recommend this safari lodge.
- Trip60010062237 (10/5): Spectacular Place! - We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Victoria Falls. The Old Drift Lode is a great place to stay. We rate it 10 out of 10. Every aspect of our stay was excellent. The lodging, food/drinks, excursions and service are top quality. Nothing beats sleeping on the Zambezi river. Amenities include daily river and land safaris, Victoria Falls tours and brunch at the Lookout Cafe! We saw hippos, crocs, lions, giraffes and elephants. Service is phenomenal. Everyone is efficient and friendly. We have zero complaints about our stay. Several people provided top quality client service.
- Amanda and Irene coordinated all activities
- Presha, Polite and Buzani tours/shopping
- Solomon food/drinks
We usually avoid all inclusive places but The Old River Lodge is av exceptional place to stay.
- J654NVsarahl (10/5): Most amazing place to stay near Victoria Falls - Leaving this review on behalf of my parents who stayed at Old Drift Lodge in March 2025 and had the BEST TIME OF THEIR LIVES THERE! They loved the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, who did everything they could to make them feel at home. The room was very comfortable, the food was top-notch (could not ask for better), and the organized activities were phenomenal. The location close to the incredible Falls and the Zambezi River was just perfect. They also appreciated how safe and environmentally friendly the lodge is. Couldn’t recommend it more highly! So many thanks from Naisi and Pierre and big cheers to Solomon and Busani!
- treyandwendy (10/5): Unforgettable Victoria Falls Zimbabwe - Our time at The Old Drift Lodge could not have been more memorable! The lodge and staff were amazing and incredibly friendly. We were in awe of the number of elephants and our time witnessing them up close in the wild, including having them visiting in the camp! Incredible!!! In addition, the staff were awesome, made us feel so special and welcome!! The lodge is incredible, luxury tented rooms on the Zambezi River in the middle of the national park. Elephants coming to drink at the river and doing so right outside side our room! Amazing!
- vickysL1290PR (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - We loved this lodge, and our expectations were surpassed when a whole family of elephants visited us at our tent. Everything about our stay here was fantastic!
- 2oldkiwis (10/5): A BITTER SWEET RETURN TO OUR SECOND HOME IN ZIM……… - A BITTER SWEET RTURN VISIT THIS TIME, NOT A HOLIDAY. MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY RECENTLY AND THE GM’S - HIMAL AND IRENE NATHOO, ASKED ME TO COME BACK TO ODL AS MY HUSBAND WAS STILL THERE IN SPIRIT. I DID THIS AND IT WAS BOTH DIFFICULT, SAD AND HEALING. I HAD THE SAME ROOM AS LAST YEAR, AND IT WAS NICE TO KNOW THAT WHAT I WAS SEEING ALL AROUND ME AND OUTSIDE WAS WHAT MY HUSBAND HAD ALSO SEEN ONLY 10 MONTHS PREVIOUSLY. THERE WERE MANY ELEPHANTS IN CAMP THIS TIME, WHICH WE DID NOT HAVE LAST YEAR. SUCH BEAUTIFUL MAJESTIC ANIMALS AND SEEING THE MANY BABIES AND YOUNG WAS AN EXPERIENCE NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN. I WAS LUCKY (BUT ODL WERE UNLUCKY!) ENOUGH TO HAVE 2 LARGE ELEPHANTS DRINK AND PLAY WITH THE WATER FROM MY PRIVATE POOL THE MORNING I LEFT. I HAD BEEN ASKING AND ASKING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN - AND IT DID. IT SEEMS NOTHING IS BEYOND THE REALMS OF POSSIBILITY FOR THE ODL MANAGEMENT AND STAFF. AS PER LAST YEAR THE MEALS WERE OUTSTANDING, THE GAME DRIVES SPECTACULAR. SEEING THE MANY FRIENDS WE MADE TOGETHER LAST YEAR, AND THEIR ALL ENCOMPASSING LOVE SHOWN TOWARDS ME IN MY TIME OF GRIEF WAS SOMETHING THAT WENT WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT. THESE PEOPLE REALLY KNOW HOW TO TREAT GUESTS AND I WILL HOPEFULLY BE BACK AGAIN ONE DAY. THANK YOU TO ALL AT ODL - PRESHA THE GUIDE, AMANDA, FARAI AND FENNY AT THE OFFICE, BISHOP WHO KEEPS EVERYTHING WORKING PERFECTLY, STIUI MY GORGEOUS WAITRESS, MIKE THE BOAT DRIVER - AND EVERYONE ELSE WHOSE NAMES DO NOT COME TO ME AT THIS PRECISE MOMENT. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - NEIL & BIANCA XX00XX00XX00
- synthiadelg (10/5): A MUST STAY EXPERIENCE! - What a once in a lifetime experience Old Drift Lodge created for us during our stay! Their service and hospitality exceeded any expectation we could've set. From the moment we were picked up from the airport, we did not need to think about a single thing. Employees took care of every detail in the most relaxing and comforting way. Staff worked together to ensure we got the most out of our experience, which included brining us to our room by boat to see several herds of elephants enjoying our lodge's comfort because they had overhead how badly we were hoping for this to happen. All inclusive is an understatement with how much you get included with your stay. Every experience, meal, and interaction is handled with the utmost care and concern. We genuinely miss the people of Old Drift Lodge. WE CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN ONE DAY SOON!
- Andy101060 (10/5): Amazing experience (see photos) - Amazing experience
My wife and I stayed for three nights, leaving two days ago. Our stay was fantastic, the lodge is lovely and welcoming and all suites have direct river views, decks and a dip pools.
We were fortunate enough to have a stargazing deck as well which was a fantastic surprise.
All the staff are friendly and attentive and helped us rearrange our transfers to our next safari lodge in Hwange.
The primary reason for going to Victoria is of course the Falls, which are stunning but to be fully appreciated they have to be seen from the air.
I would definitely unreservedly recommend Old Drift to anyone wishing to visit Victoria Falls.
- Benjami54 (10/5): Top Notch - On our recent trip we experienced 4 different and high end resorts. All were excellent but Old Drift was the best by checking ALL of the boxes at the highest level!
- 255anneliess (10/5): Beuatiful stay at the border of the Zambezi - We stayed for three nights. The animals near our tent, the view of the sunset from our bed, overlooking the Zambezi were amazing. The friendly staff and the perfect and flexible organisation for our group of 17 were also very good. It was a lifetime experience
- christinemA5583CV (10/5): The Old Drift Lodge - When we booked this we did not really know what to expect...as it was first time on Safari, we wefre not dissapointed the overall experience was fantastic, from arriving until we departed.
The Lodge, the food/drinks, staff, atomsphere and the main attractions the wildlife...we were extra lucky because we had the fabulous Jeremiah as our ranger, he was amazing and so full of knowledge, defintely recomend this place.
- andrewrewr (10/5): Excellent Location and Superb Standards - AMAZING. Right on the river and arrival was by boat. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. The 4 poster bed looked out over the Zambesi, wildlife wandering about the camp and extremely knowledgable guides. Food is of a very high standard with a good variety. Victoria falls walk is a must do as is breakfast at the Outlook cafe. Special thanks to Solomon and Myth in F&B and our wildlife guide Fanuel.
- Stephen (10/5): - Absolutely amazing. All the staff friendly and attentive. Game and River Safaris amazing, we were impressed with the knowledge of our guide Jeremiah. Lovely place to stay. Will come back one day.
- Andrew (10/5): - Old Drift Lodge took care of us from start to end. We had one guide for our group of 4 during our stay. Jeremiah is welcoming (as is everyone there), knowledgeable, full of pride sharing his country, friendly and with a great sense of humor. The accomodations are amazing as are all the opportunities to see wild animals in their habitat. Would go back without hesitation!
- Sonja (10/5): - We stayed for 4 nights and it was wonderful. A few things to know. Everything is included in the price of your room. I booked and didn’t do any follow up research, until their office person Paty informed me the day before we arrived. So your airport transfers, game drives, ride to town or Victoria Falls all included. Also all meals including a lunch at the Lookout Cafe, owned by the same company, included. You are billed $30 per person for entry to Victoria Falls. They handle this at check out. However have lots of small dollars for tips. They have a “tip box” for all staff which you can leave one big tip, or as we preferred we tipped individuals. You are limited to get change for a $20 or a $50, so bring lots of $1 and $5 for everything from housekeeping to transportation to/from airport. They even do your laundry at no charge. They handle all the excursions. The activity director (don’t forget to tip) asks you daily what you would like to do for the next day and sets it up. Don’t forget the chef Coco. She is wonderful. The staff is the best in the business. The rooms were divine. Be sure to allow time to relax in your room and on your riverside deck. The afternoon we chilled in our room and on our deck, we had an entire elephant family, including babies pay us a visit. Also in the area, but not covered by the Lodge is the Elephant and cheetah experience. We rode elephants and had cheetahs sit on our lap. $500 for 2. Pricey but you only live once! Great trip!
- Joseph (10/5): - Amazing experience! Location is truly unique, allowing close encounters with the local wildlife. Staff were so personable and welcoming. Activities were remarkable. Food was delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for a truly memorable holiday!
- william (10/5): - Loved the staff and their smiles and attentive “can-do” service
Loved the intimacy of the Lodge that only has 14 luxury tents
Loved the food and bar service
Loved the game drives and water safari and especially the walking safari with Vusa
Loved our massages
Loved everything and we were sad to leave ❤️
- Marsha (10/5): Exceeded Expectations - Couldn’t have been better. Facilities were better than expected and staff were professional, attentive and friendly. We’re recommending the place to all our friends and family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Incredibly beautiful - on the Zambezi River. Great honeymoon spot!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service personnalisé
Sécurité du site
États des lieux
Information éducative sur les anime aux et leur habitat
- Fab (10/5): - A magical place!
I wanted to visit Victoria Falls and picked Old Drift Lodge a bit randomly because the place looked inviting...
Well, honestly, it was far beyond my expectations. It doesn’t just « looks » inviting. It’s totally and definitely one of a kind.
The accommodation is well-thought and all details are covered. The premisses are open in the National Park with wonderful opportunities to meeting wild animals. Security is well assured and I felt safe at all times.
The chef is really excellent and everything I tasted was delicious!
The place is lovely, accommodations are super, food is delicious and, last but not least, the staff is highly professional, helpful and warm. Cherry on the cake!
The perfect spot with the most beautiful views at sunrise and sunset right on the Zambezi River...
Pure magic...
- Presley (10/5): A lux safari tent lodge where perfect to stay - excellent service, good food, beautiful huge tent room with aircon and all staff are very friendly, helpful and professional.
- Kathryn/Mark (10/5): - Old Drift absolutely exceeded our expectations. The setting is so peaceful and full of wildlife. We will never forget waking to the bellowing of hippos, laughing at the monkeys from our deck, watching the adorable warthogs at lunch, and that hilarious planter-destroying elephant who came calling at dinner. The design of the rooms is a cut above "glamping," even at its very finest. Such a fun luxury to shower/bathe outdoors, on the banks of the Zambezi, and to sleep with the tent rustling overhead. The decor felt authentic, wonderfully retro, calming and luxurious. The outings were terrific and we had our own assigned guide. The entire staff is outstanding, sometimes anticipating our desires before we even knew them ourselves. We always felt so welcome and pampered. Our stay was magical!
