- Jimmy (7/5): Needs renovations for the rate to value - The location is central and close to where my meetings were. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent with many options to choose from. I felt a bit over-priced because of the state of the rooms, it looks like it needs a good renovation work to justify the rate. Some rooms have no safe-boxes including mine, though they told me some have if needed they could shift me. Room has some worn out paint even cracks, furniture paint is chipping away, simple need proper rehabilitation.

- Andre (4/5): Very bad - Some of the stafff was friendly The room wasn’t good at all. The toilet seat was broken. The shower door couldn’t close. The floor tiles were chipped and looked bad. The bed tables were damaged. The air conditioning was making such a bad noise that I had to turn it off to try and sleep. The bedside lights were torn out from the wardrobe and didn’t look safe. The top floor entertainment area and bar never had different types of glasses for the different type of drinks you would order. The breakfast wasn’t to 4 star standard and honestly I do not know why they are rated 4 stars. We paid for 2 nights but left early after the 1st night and they would refund us with the next nights money. Never again

Wi-Fi service has been a core issue when staying here three times since September 2024. Some facilities have been renovated, and the cuisine is becoming better, yet I am concerned that here is not an ideal place for a business trip.

- Shani (8/5): We would stay again! - The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. We had a family room (two rooms adjoining) which were very spacious and lovely, with great views of the lake. Being the end room we had views of two perspectives of the lake. Breakfast was good and had various options. The bar terrace restaurant food was outstanding and plentiful 😋 The swimming pool doesn’t have much space around it and due to an event, the little space available was being used to store chairs and tables. It made it feel a bit congested and not very relaxing.

- Carol (8/5): Very good - Coveniently laid out. Great viewsof Lake Victoria. Room spacious and well-appointed. Great breakfast. Could not regulate the A/C temperature of my room. Blew too cold even when temp set at high max of 30 degrees. So, I had to alternate between ON and OFF every 10-15 minutes while in room and couple of times in middle of night. The male housekeeper sent up to change batteries in remote control was rude and dismissive. We thought, at first, it had been fixed, but it was not. He was in a hurry and there was no follow-up by the front desk. Poor concierge service. I asked a manager if they could put me in touch with a driver I could pay to take me on a brief 2 hours tour of any upscale neighborhoods. He enthusiastically said he would work on it and let me know. It would have been ok if no driver was available, but just say so. I never heard back about the matter at all.

Really wanted to swim but couldn't with hours of operation that don't start until 830 and closes at six. Very disappointing 😞

- Mccowen (10/5): Excellent Hotel in great location with great staff and lots to do nearby - including safari tours. - Gold Crest hotel is an excellent establishment in Mwanza. It is located right in the heart of Mwanza which is very convenient for tourists from other countries as there is excellent access to a number of different banks to obtain cash for the days activities. In our case we arrived with a low cash reserve and needed to withdraw cash daily from Travel cards. This was a concern at first but as there are numerous large banks very near to the Gold Crest we were able to find one that could accept our Australian travel cards and make the necessary withdrawals. The Mwanza town centre is quite safe for tourists and we experienced no problems in walking in the town area both for shopping at stores and local markets and to do our banking. The people of Mwanza are friendly and trustworthy and everywhere we went we received a warm welcome and excellent service. Staff at the Gold Crest are very helpful and friendly - with a strong desire to provide great service. The breakfast provided with our room was very good - with wide range of items and the location is tops, as you can sit on the balcony overlooking the street to eat, or indoors at very comfortable places with table service - which ever you prefer. The Gold Crest restaurant has food options to a very high standard - we felt that the meals we ate were the equal of any we had on our extended tour of Europe and Africa. Really high standard for presentation and quality (delicious) and large very adequate portion sizes. We found that one meal between two was often sufficient and the pricing was very good making the meals in the hotel a very nice high standard value for money experience in a very comfortable atmosphere. Room Service was good and the rooms are cleaned everyday and the hotel also has an excellent value laundry service which we used several times - very convenient. When it came time to pay we were able to pay with credit card which is not always a certainty in Africa. Many thanks to the Gold Crest hotel. There is very little that could be better - there a few small items in the rooms that could have required some updating but overall very well fitted out.

Restaurant had a great menu with good food though the breakfast was mostly local and not what we're use to from North America. But you can always have an omelet and bacon. A little disappointed there was no fridge in the room, would have been nice to have some cool water and the tv signal was spotty and a bad picture but you could still watch a movie. I will stay again but only for short stays because of the cost.

- Jean (8/5): Enjoyed my stay - Staff are very polite and rooms are clean and spacious. Wished there was an option for a menu separate from the buffet for lunch/dinner/snacks etc

- Hanipha (6/5): constructive feedback - My experience was not so good, services are a bit poor, no towels, bedsheets are very old and neighborhood very noisy. Some staff are friendly, some not at all.
