Guest Reviews
- Nancy (10/5): - Great spot, friendly staff, new owner working hard to make every one comfortable.
- Morganne (6/5): - Room was ok but bare minimum
- gertrude H (8/5): - It is closer to Bryce National Park. Very easy!
- Oksana (10/5): - Clean and close to the park
- Bart (6/5): - There was a lot of construction trucks blocking the entrance to get in so it took a few times to enter in. The building could have used some picking up on the outside but for the price I was pretty content with the room size and condition of the room. The heater worked beyond expectations you could tell they tried updating things but lots of paint runs. There was office staff when we arrived at 3, but did not see any other activity the two days we stayed. Really 3.5 over all for the price we paid compared to other prices I seen online prior to booking.
- Keith (10/5): - Everything was very nice. Constriction outside hotel was a little annoying but didn't really cause any problem. Park was great.
- Patricia (10/5): - When you first arrive the property does not look appealing compared to other accommodation in the area. But don’t be deceived the staff were super friendly the rooms clean comfortable and everything you need for an overnight stay. Very quiet stay. They have a new restaurant onsite. We check the menu out which looked really nice, but my fellow travellers are not fans of the Mexican cuisine. So I did not get the opportunity to try
- Shirley (4/5): - Our room was clean and the facility was nice but they are getting a bad rating from us because of two things. We didn't have any running water in our room and even after she "fixed it" there was still no water running out of the faucet for the sink and even the shower was just a drizzle. The other thing I didn't like is the fact that every one of us were charged completely different prices. When you're with a group of eight rooms and they are booked at the same time they should be the same price and not an $80 swing.
- Joe (2/5): - The bath faucet leaked all over the top of the sink, the TV remote didn’t work,
No one at the front desk from 10 pm to 6:00 am,
No breakfast, the beds super soft and flimsy frames, the bathroom door knob didn’t lock.
It was a dump. and charged us far too much for such a poor room. You need to send someone to check it out before you keep making reservations with them.
We would appreciate a response and a refund of some kind. Thank you.
- Cindy (2/5): - Please take this off your website. Don’t reserve here. It took going thru 3 rooms to find one that had working lights and toilets. We were settling for the night and there was blood spots on the top sheet. That was the last straw. We spent the night because it was too late to pack up and leave, but it was not restful. We had already paid for 2 nights, but we left as soon as we could the next morning. I will dispute the credit card charge.
- Daniel (2/5): Horrible - Depressive place. Dirty bathroom
- Barbara (2/5): - Close to Bryce National Park. VERY OLD. EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE BED!!!
- Eric (8/5): - The hotel has is older and dated but was very clean. The staff who checked us in were very friendly and nice. Great location for visiting Bryce Canyon.
- Marjorie (4/5): - Budget Hotel. But facility far inferior to other places we stayed on our trip for the same price or less.
PROS: clean, bed comfortable, coffee and tea available in registration area.
CONS: No sign for hotel. Hard to locate. Behind a Mexican restaurant (good food in restaurant though).
-No place to put even one suitcase. Had to put them on the floor. Asked for luggage rack and told none available.
-Sink faucet drained back onto the counter, flooding the counter top and the floor, water everywhere. See picture.
-No cover on bathroom electrical outlet, dangerous.
-Light fixtures hung by their cords, see pictures. Unsafe.
-Tiny unstable bed side tables. Rickety and useless. Again - no place to put anything except the floor.
-Closet contained the frig and microwave. Only one non functioning light which flickered with little actual light - very hard to see to do anything in there.
-Staff unable to assist with any of the above problems.
BOTTOM LINE - should have been much cheaper for the facilities. But - we would probably stay there again as everything else in the Bryce area much expensive. Just be aware of what you will get and don't expect much.
- Alicia (10/5): - It's not fancy, but it was clean & close to our destination. The staff was terrific! We got candy upon arrival, so what's not to like!
- Ralph (2/5): - This place is a dump in every respect. Don’t waste your money. Tile falling off in the shower. No switch cover on light switch. Bed so old and soft it is in the shape of a bowl.
Just
- Thais (6/5): - TVs didn’t work, no face plates on outlets, mold in showers, needs work
- PAUL (4/5): - Crappy room, lumpy bed, toilet leaks water onto the floor, door doesn’t fit, heard everything in the hall - staff very friendly.
- Glen (2/5): - The room was ok, clean. Staff was friendly. The mattress was absolutely horrendous. Felt like sleeping in a hammock and it squeaked everytime you move. Needless to say we hardly slept and woke up extremely sore. Got up at 5.30 am and left. We are only in our 40‘s, nevermind older people sleeping on that bed! Would not recommend.
- Andrea (8/5): - Stall shower nicely tiled. Ample space in the room, bathroom and closet. A/C worked well, bed was firm no saggy middle, sheets were crisp and like new. Room was bright and seemed freshly painted. Only ding is that some of the doors are not plumb leaving gapes for noise/ light to creep in.
- Min (6/5): - Great budget place and very nice staff. Close to Bryce. Rooms a bit smaller than expected and toilet did not work well however. Otherwise, good!
- Robert (10/5): - Clean. Very dated. Very.
- Thais (4/5): - Heat went out 37 degree wake up, moved to another room, staff did what they could and were kind, tv didn’t work. Nobody available at desk early mornings, phone contact went straight to voicemail every time
- David (8/5): - Had a strange smell in our room.
- steven (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff
- Peter (4/5): - The double room we had with 2 beds in was so tiny that we couldn’t get out of the bed at one side.
One bed squeaked every time anyone moved . The tv wires hung down the wall into an unstable plug on the wall. The ceiling light wire was just hung from the ceiling unsafely.
I have never stayed in a motel as bad as this one.
- Renee (2/5): - The towels were dirty/stained. The tiles in the bathroom moved, there was no covers on the bathroom fan or the plug outlets. Tile was missing in the bathroom, the bed was awful and made so much noise. The heater/air conditioner was so loud when it turned on it woke us up every time. It looked abandoned when we pulled in and wasnt even sure it was the right place.
- David (2/5): - Nothing. One restaurant on property, opens at 4pm. Bed was terrible. Hard and squeaky.
- Kimberly (4/5): Disappointing - I think this Motel has a lot of potential, but it wasn't quite ready. It didn't even have a visible signage with the name of the motel on it. My friend and I had to look at the google photos to even see if we were at the correct place. The check in person seemed to want to be anywhere than there during check in, and gave us the bare minimum information. The actual bedroom space was fine, but the bathroom was quite gross. There was dried pee in the toilet bowl, the hand towel was dirty (had black dirty spots on the white towels like dirt or grease), old/dried toothpaste stains on the cupboards, and I could go on. In the middle of the night the toilet stopped working, and my friend and I couldn't get it to work the rest of the time we were there. We went to check out in the morning, and there was no-one to even at the desk. It was just a very interesting, disappointing experience. The pictures online were WAY better than the real experience, unfortunately. :(
- Ernest (8/5): - Easy check-in and clean room
- Thi Be (6/5): - Inconfort bed. No service and no staff at the hotel.
- Ludo (4/5): - Convenient location. No reception on duty en of day, nor in the morning. Terrible beds on floors that continuously make noise. TV did not work as well.
- Margaret (4/5): Not so great - The hotel had no sign
My tv did not work. The clerk said only the manager could fix it and he was ‘on his way’, 15-20 minutes out. Went back 25 minutes later and was told ‘just 10 minutes away’. After 20 more minutes I went back to the office and declared it was time to switch me to a room with a tv that worked
- Pauline Xenia (4/5): - It looked nothing like the photo
- Christopher (6/5): - This place was weird. I was there for five days and never saw anyone from the Lodge even once! I had a reservation and my room keys were waiting for me on the counter at the office , but there was no one there. The room was a bit on the small side, but nothing to complain about, everything worked. There was a phone number to call if service was needed. I would not recommend this place at all if you did not have a reservation there ahead of time. Bryce Canyon City is peculiar in that the other hotels there own the restaurants and you're not welcome for breakfast there unless you are staying at those places. As I said, weird, but it was a good stay nontheless.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was no one at the front desk. I called and left messages and emailed, but never got a response. My room keys were just left on the front desk when I arrived, with my name and room number visible to anyone who walked by. This made me feel uncomfortable and seemed very unprofessional.
- Alex (2/5): - No one home.
- Shawn (4/5): - Felt run-down and smelled damp/dank.
- Timothy (2/5): - Property had no sign. No one in the office during my stay. Key to my room was left on the counter along with keys for other guests to pick up.Rooms and property were ugly. Bed was uncomfortable. Coffee in office lobby was at least two days old.
- Heidemarie (8/5): - The outside needs a bit more friendliness. Some containers with plants or hanging baskets would do a lot. There is so much space in the front of the hotel, a fire pit and some chairs would be great. Something we’re guests can socialize after a day in the parks. Inside the rooms were clean. The furniture selection was nicely put together. It gave me a warm and friendly impression.
Also would have been nice to remove the broken hair blower and put the working one on the wall instead. All in all nice room for the money
- Kent (8/5): - Checked ourselves in and out. Never saw anyone. Beds are very hard but place was clean.
- Marjon (6/5): - Het was wel oké. De accomodatie bevind zich in de middle of no where. De bedden waren niet stabiel. Het was schoon
- paul (8/5): - Clean. Generally modern amenities. Good price point. Quiet. Good location for Bryce.
- Dmitriy (10/5): - N9ce place
- Gina (2/5): - Phone number is on a loop & no one ever answers. iPhone map says it’s permanently closed which seems accurate. When we arrived, there was no place with this name & the property appears to be a shanty town. Luckily we were able to book another property. If it was high travel season, I’m sure we would have had no place to stay. Don’t book it, it’s not there.
- Danielle (8/5): - No ice machine. Direct tv won't work but just there to sleep.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When we arrived at this location, there was no sign with the name of the hotel and it was abandoned. There was a sign to go to different hotel location. Not very satisfied as we should have been notified of this prior to arriving. This complicated travel plans.
- Haiou (2/5): - The property is under construction and our booking was sold to another motel 10 miles away
- Matteo (2/5): - Unacceptable treatment.
- Heather (2/5): Worst hotel reservation experience ever - So this hotel is actually shut down. They transferred our reservation without telling us to a different hotel in an adjacent town. That hotel was gross so we ended up cancelling the reservation. NOT HAPPY!!!!!
- Michael (2/5): - Hotel was about closed with no staff on promises. We was redirected to another hotel by note on the window, at late evening , about night ( we travel with 2 small children, everyone were extremely tired) . We try to call to Expedia , but after about hour by phone, figured out it wasn’t Expedia at all.I was very lucky 1) I didn’t pay for this hotel an advance and 2) my card was suspicious about fake “Expedia “.
- chuck (2/5): - The hotel was closed with a note on the office door that they rebooked us at a crappy hotel 9 miles away and did not contact us first to give us a chance to find a hotel I would want to stay at and now I am trying to get a refund because they charged me for three nights. Not happy!
- GUILIANG (2/5): - Better communication
- Yi (2/5): - We booked this hotel and got charged. We arrived at the hotel at 8pm. Building is next to the highway 12 and surrounding is dark. Can't even find a signage at the entrance. Lobby is messy and dirty. No one is at the front desk. We called the property, no answering. We tried to ask around. People in one of the rooms said they are not the guest. Only one person speaks a little English. He said this hotel is not operating until next month. We don't understand why this hotel can be booked on line while it's not operating. We can't make changes or cancel it. Fortunately, after 3 hours, Expedia arranged another hotel for us. This hotel is a scam.
- Jason (2/5): - Could not check in.Nobody was working there.Hotel seems abandoned
- Jack (2/5): - like a dump
- Meghan (2/5): - We made reservations, called multiple times the day of to ask questions and to let them know we’d be arriving in the evening-with no one answering. When we arrived after dinner, the parking lot was virtually abandoned with one truck in it. The office door was open but everything was dimly lit and no one was there. Like, we yelled for some help but no one came. The connecting store was also abandoned. Expedia was helpful after and gave us a credit. It this shouldnt have happened in the first place.
- Scott (10/5): - The staff was most helpful while I was struggling with the Flu
- Meg (4/5): - We never saw a human at the front desk even though they stated they were staffed from 2-10 pm. Of the two contact numbers left at the front desk, only one was responsive.
Our toilet clogged, the plumbing was old, hot water ran out after a 10 minute shower. The savings on cost was not worth the poor plumbing and poor service.
- Beridiana (10/5): - It was super clear and nice. I would definitely stayed here again.
- Ernest (4/5): - No one ever at the front desk. They simply leave your key with your name. I then determined that I have double charges for the night of October 27, 2024 by the hotels reservation company reservations.com and yet they were no help trying to resolve the matter. I have put in a claim with my charge card bank whom will research the matter depending on what charges are pushed through to my account.
- Margaret (8/5): - I attempted to contact the property several times, but their voicemail was full and could not leave a message. I booked through Expedia, so was very concerned that I might not have a room when I showed up. Arrived to find the hotel had a different name so I was not sure I was even in the right place. Upon entering the office, I found a piece of paper with the key to my room and my name on it with the checkout time. I was thankful I was in the right place, But wondered what would happen if someone else showed up and took my key.
It is an old motel that has been redecorated I found it very quaint, clean and comfortable.
I would stay here again, but I wish the communication was better, actually existing…
- June (10/5): - Very nice room. Obviously renovations have taken place
- Brenda (6/5): Close to Bryce Canyon Park - Good location by the park, if you can find it! No name of any kind anywhere to say this was the motel. I only found it because i had seen the Arriba Mexican restaurant on the map and knew that it was supposed to be roght next door. At check in, the clerk said " oh, i think they are making a new sign". This is an old property in dore need of remodeling. The beds a terribly uncomfortable. Very noisy heating unit and wires strewn here and there to plug in the refrigerator etc. I was glad that i brought my own linens, towels and blanket as i found what appears to be blood stains on the towels and sheets. I had expected old, but not obviously not clean. Sorry, once again the location and the price was the best thing about this property.
- John (2/5): - Got to motel. Our room #113 had damaged key entry lock falling off the door. Moved to Room#107 and notice room door damage with dead bolt with many screws around it to hold it in place. Room faucet leaked and bed squeaked on every move. Management moved us to Room #108 and we use the bathroom faucet which flooded the flooring. Later the Power went out and had no lights or heat( It was snowing outside). The management was never there. You had to call them to come for help. Motel seemed like it was a failing business. Sorry for the bad review. Just telling the facts that happened.
- Lorenzo (10/5): Bryce Canyon Visit - Room was average, clean, housekeeping was good, but if you wanted your bed made up while you were out you had to ask to have it done. overall stay was comfortable, location to the canyon was very convenient.
- Monico Trujillo (4/5): - The property outside was unique, even though we could tell that the buildings were older. The main office where we checked in, appeared very clean and it had a good feeling. There were several different buildings. We stayed in room 117. When we entered the building, it had a weird smell as if it was an old building. We entered our room and could see that several of the light switches did not have covers on them. The toilet seat looked as if someone had stood on it as there was black all along the top of the toilet seat. The bathroom fan did not have a cover on it. When we turned it on, it did not work. With the steam in the room, it caused the fire alarm to go off the only time we saw somebody there on the property was when we checked in. We went to notify somebody of the situation in our room and we could not find anybody to notify .
- Tammy (6/5): You get what you pay for! - I had to call to get someone to check us in to start. The tv was tiny and so was the fridge. The room appeared to be in process of a “fixer upper”. The walls were thin, the electric outlets were an absolute code violation (loose and missing plates). It was not the worse night we’ve ever spent in a hotel/motel for sure. You certainly get what you pay for!
- Thomas (6/5): Very Basic - Very basic single level motel. Interior door , essentially no front desk , key was left in an envelope with your name on it. Very poor WiFi , very small, basic room, no tables, no bed stand , no dresser, no closet . No breakfast . Shower was new and nice. Good strong flow, plenty of warm water. Bed was small and very noisy .
- Brenda (4/5): - Property was not marked with sign. No electrical outlets convenient to plug in phone. AC/Heater unit was VERY noisy. Beds squeaked any time you moved.
- Yvonne (8/5): - This is an old motel that they have put time in upgrading. There is one Mexican restraunt on property but lots to drive to within 15 min. Rooms are small but we dont need a big room to sleep. House keeping changed our towels daily and turned on fans while we where out since the mornings where cold..Thank you
- Robert (2/5): - TV didn't work. We had to plug the substantial gaps between the door and door frame with towels and newspaper to keep the hallway light out. Could hear someone cough from five doors down. Property is in need of some major renovations. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little spot - My stay at Bryce UpTop Lodge was great! The room was very clean and the decorations were so cute. The bed was comfy. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Overall awesome and I would definitely stay here again.
- Judy (8/5): Good basic hotel - The inn was not fancy but clean and comfortable.
- Suzanne (6/5): - Pretty sketchy from the outside. We had to change rooms because our AC was so loud. Rooms themselves are recently redone and quite nice. But hot water ran out mid shower.
- Gordon (8/5): - Good please to stay the night. Nothing fancy. Clean and convenient
- Kaisa (8/5): - The rooms have recently been updated and they are still in the process of updating. The location was great and staff friendly.
- Kellie (4/5): - Just about impossible to find, just like the staff. No signage, not even a piece of paper on the door, live wires to an uncovered power point, bedside lights so bright they are unusable at night, sink Fawcett that sprays everywhere, no grill in the basin so anything could go down the sink. Never found the switch to the main light, bed was lumpy and had a slope to the centre, pillows were awful (but clean). No coffee in the room causes they ‘ran out’ no coffe in the reception in the morning because that ran out too. Still no staff. Glad to be out of there.
- Jeffrey (6/5): - This Lodge is by no means as bad as a lot of the reviews make it out to be, but I understand that not all rooms have been renovated yet.
Our room was perfectly fine, clean, tidy and big enough for a night or 2. But if not stay more than that 1 or 2 nights. There is unlimited coffee and tea, but this isn't stocked regularly and there is only 1 restaurant on sight. The area not offering much isn't really the lodges fault because even in Bryce Canyon City are options very limited.
The main thing for me was that the bed was too short, I'm 1.85m and my ankles were outside the bed and that there was basically no water pressure, it was really difficult to shower.
- Kandis (6/5): - It was clean but very old. Price was ok considering the area.
- Charles (6/5): - Had to ask to have beds made up. Had to ask for toilet paper and soap - not enough in room. No signage - impossible to find motel. Had to wait to check-in until clerk showed. Did provide morning coffee. Adequate motel but nothing to write home about. Chose since others unavailable.
- Dave (10/5): Lovely stay! - We loved it. A very cozy , super clean , excellent location lodge
Front desk lady was very friendly
We will share our experience with our friends and refer it to them if they travel to Bryce
- Kathy (10/5): - Close and easy proximity to Bryce Canyon National Park
- Richard (8/5): - Great spot to stay for a bike tour of Bryce Canyon - Red Canyon Area.
- Barbara (6/5): - Loved that it was very quiet and clean and very accommodating. Loved the location too. Our water pressure in the shower was very wimpy so it was difficult to wash the soap out of my hair.
- Mary (10/5): - It was exactly as it was described but the market was closed. The curb appeal could use some help but it was so convenient to the park and away from the busiest part of town.
- Michael (4/5): - This property needs renovation.
- Anthony (10/5): - Motel was close to Bryce Canyon, was clean, great staff checkin, easy parking.
- Carl L (8/5): - No one available for check in until after 3. Didn't realize that when we made the reservation. The price was good. The property was dated. Not much choice in the Bryce Canyon area.
- Phillip (4/5): - The Bryce Uptop Lodge is not a lodge; it is a refurbished old motel made of four, single-story buildings. Some updates have been made, but a lot more effort is needed. Many basic, standard conveniences are lacking. Staff is literally nonexistent.
Without GPS we would never have found the place as there is no sign for the "lodge" on the road or the buildings, except for "Motel Office." A musty smell of old motel was the first and persistent impression. We were lucky to find someone in the office when we arrived. We came to the office at 8:30 PM on two days to find it empty, although a paper stated the Office Hours as 2PM - 9 or 10PM. A paper said "for assistance please call" with a phone number. Calling the number went to voicemail with a full mailbox. There was literally no way to get help after we checked in. Even worse, they left packets on the unattended desk with names, room numbers AND CARDKEYS of customers who had not yet arrived!
Our room was generally clean and the beds reasonably comfortable. But many things were lacking. We had 1 washcloth for 2 of us, no Kleenex, the thinnest of 1-ply toilet paper, no stopper in the sink, a showerhead that managed a trickle. and a small dirty rug with a rolled edge on the laminate floor. Outlets were located on the walls behind the beds. No ice machine, but a tiny note in the foyer told us we could get ice from the restaurant nearby (during their business hours).
We were very disappointed.
- Thomas (6/5): - Your WiFi was working but the internet was not available. Perhaps this is beyond your control but having someone tell us that would be nice. No staff availability after dark or in the morning.
- Peter (4/5): - No one at the front desk to check us in till 3 pm. No bucket for ice , no ice machine , had to go to the restaurant next door to get a bag of ice, when we came back the next afternoon our bed was unmade !!
- Tom (6/5): - Room was clean yes. No power socket cover above the bathroom sink. Floor slopes towards head of bed. Don’t drop anything in the bathroom sink as there’s no plug to stop it from falling to bottom of Bryce Canyon. Front door needs seal tape around. Dollar decor adequate.
- Shirley (6/5): Fine stay. - The hotel was hard to find due to a name change and lack of signage, maps didn't recognize the address, either. Once we found it: This is a "you get what you pay for" hotel. Small, very well used, but clean with a big closet so you're not tripping over suitcases. Great access to Bryce Canyon NP! Good Mexican restaurant out front. Coffee in the room, but no ice machine.
As to comfort, I travel with an air mattress becuase I am a very finicky sleeper; husband didn't complain (and the noisy AC worked).
- John (6/5): - Room was clean but overall pretty run down. leaky toilet valve was pretty annoying and front desk wasn't staffed and no answer when I called
- Paul (4/5): - The motel advertises Internet in every room, but there was no internet in my room, in rand I had to sit in reception to work.
The motel has no sign and sits on a 65 mile per hour road and feels very dangerous to turn into, if you can find it.
My room had a hole in the wall where someone opened the door to strongly, the floor under the toilet was broken and sinking into the floor, the main light in the room was not working.
The closest grocery store is 10 minutes drive down the road.
The Mexican restaurant on site is pretty good.
- Scott (4/5): - UpTop was very tired and drab. There was no outdoor sign that had the name advertised. There was no one at the desk for several minutes when we came to check in. We would not recommend this place.
- Bach (4/5): - No wifi even after the front desk told me they'd fix it. The room I booked was one queen and a double. I got 2 doubles. The location is pretty good. Didn't try restaurant on site.
- Gary (4/5): - Old, hole in wall, light switch did not work, AC/Heater was very noisy, no iron or ironing board, tile around toilet was sinking, will not stay again or recommend this was a 1 star motel.
- Bruce (6/5): - Very basic room- nothing fancy at all- never saw any staff, office was unmanned when we arrived in the evening, and unmanned when we checked out (sign said staff would be there at 2 PM). No light bulb in the room's overhead light. I think there was a number we could call for assistance but we didn't bother. If you are just looking for an inexpensive place to sleep for the night this place will do
