Guest Reviews
- Xiaochuan (1/5): -
- Brian (1/5): Bad - They folded, made excuses and cancelled our reservation
- Mary (4/5): - The hotel was closed temporarily for a maintenance issue. We were unable to check in.
- Kaeleigh (4/5): - Staff were wonderful and very helpful. Rooms were dusty and bathtubs were stained. The dining room area looked like it was under construction. There was no water for one entire morning.
- Dale (8/5): - Was good
- Dimosthenis (5/5): Passable -
- Cui (6/5): - No milk for breakfast
- Luisa (5/5): Passable - heating not working. no hair dryer. old structure with poor maintenance. lift not working. overall structure maintenance
- Robert (4/5): Disappointing - A joke. No coffee made everything didorganized Tv did not work in the hotel at all. Bell sat service dish needs to be repointed to get service even in mild clould cover. The other hotels dont have a problem. As well the hall ways, common areas and carpets were mud covered. Rooms were however clean.
- Brandie (8/5): - The staff was super nice unfortunately if you dont have a vehicle theres not much around but the bed was comfy and great pillows.
- Robert (4/5): - This rooms were okay but the building itself left a lot to be desired. No clean towels in room even after asking for them. Breakfast was pretty abysmal. Whoever owns this place needs to do better. Blown out light bulbs in the hallways, door handles missing from doors. Crazy. Won’t stay again.
- Tami (4/5): Hotel needs a lot of TLC. - The location was probably the best thing about this hotel. Stayed here two nights. No water one day. No shower, no flushing toilets, no running water at all. A slight apology from the front desk but that was it. Elevator wasn’t working at least two times. Luckily most of us could use the stairs. Heat in the room was uncontrollable. Had to pry open the window and keep it wide open the whole time we were there. Hotel is in need of major repair. Things are falling apart and nothing appears to be getting fixed. Hallways haven’t had a good vacuum in what looks like ages. Would not stay here again.
- Roger (6/5): - We were travelling and this was a convenient spot.
- Lynne (6/5): Slightly below expectations even at the "affordable" rate - Staff were very helpful. This hotel needs work to bring it up to expected normal standards....maintenance appears to be minimal. Dusting was bare minimal...towel allotment was minimal to the extent that there was NO extra items available and the laundry was still being done in late afternoon.
- Mohammad (3/5): I hope They listen to the voice of customer. . - They clean the room every three days so no towels no Toilet paper no coffee or tea And the room is not clean Is it clear they should clean the room every day and maintain the room I think the management is poor because they didn’t check or inspect the facility Breakfast it’s really poor
- Marina (10/5): Recomendable - Friendly staff. clean properties. Good breakfast. -
- Yaroslav (5/5): Passable -
- Michele (7/5): Good -
- Arthur (3/5): Poor -
- Michele (7/5): Good -
- Don (1/5): Stay did not happen lost my reservation -
- Joseph (8/5): - We rested well. Thanx
- Sandeep (10/5): - To find a hotel with good facilities so far up north was a challenge, and im very pleased to have stayed here. I understand running such a business is tough and i see them making improvements.
Overall it was the staff that made this stay absolutely amazing. Checking is in late, helped with our luggage and offered after hours snacks. Ofcourse they know people travel long distances to get to Inuvik, so they made sure our stay was comfortable.
We sure will stay here on our next Arctic trip!
- Clark (8/5): - Convienent
- Allen (5/5): Passable - Breakfast was ok. The air-conditioning was too loud and worked poorly. It needs to be replaced.
There were no pillows and no tv.
- William (3/5): Don't even bother. Run away! - Not much of anything really. We are not hotel snobs and have traveled all over the world for work and vacations. The place looks like it is ready to be closed down as likely 60% of the rooms were closed. Our room had many long hairs in the tub, sink and sheets. Caked on soap and shampoo on the shower shelves.
Tv did not work even after staff tried. It just kept looking for satellite connection I assume due to unpaid service provider.
There was heavy dust buildup on TV stand, night tables and desk.
Breakfast is almost non existent.
We had yellow brown water coming out of sink and tub for 5 minutes on first use.
The next day we had no water and no shower until noon then the brown water again.
We moved to another hotel for 2 nights then back to Nova.
I booked and had a confirmation from booking.com that was canceled by the hotel only a few hours prior to us arriving. So, there is no room.
The manager gave a bunch of excuses why the cancelation, but all in all.DO NOT STAY HERE!
- Geoff (4/5): Any port in a storm. at least the doors locked and the bed was made. - Was clean. Must have just changed management. Room: Huge torn rug (Trip Hazard), Large hole in the window bug screen. TV satellite intermittent, remote impossible to figure out. "Ran out of water" in the morning two days running. NO SHOWERING..(it's trucked in daily). Front counter guy never looked up from iPhone. English as a second language employees, accent hard to interpret. HUGE fans in lobby to keep the mosquitoes from landing on you.
- Paul (8/5): - An average hotel that could do with some updating and upgrading. Would think it has not been done since it was built
- Naveen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Curtis (2/5): - No air conditioning here, which is typical at this latitude, I understand. However, they have these mobile floor AC units in the room that are totally useless. They make a lot of noise and raise the room temp. They are at least 15 years old. I get it, it’s a short sure, but buy new units and save money.
- Jack (4/5): Needs new management - Room looked like it was a nice room at one time but run down and so maintenance has been done in some time. Breakfast bar was horrible, why even have one if you aren’t going to maintain it and serve warm condensed milk.
- Bruce (8/5): - The worker at check in was friendly and helpful. The facility is in need of upkeep and cleaning. The 1st 2 rooms we tried were very hot with no working air conditioner. The 3rd room was warm but the air conditioner helped a little.
- Fran (9/5): We'd stay again - Good sized room, fireplace, portable AC, Continental breakfast available all day, elevator and laundry available. Super friendly and helpful staff. Wifi down a lot while we were here. No ice machine although the desk clerk made us some.
- Vanpelt (6/5): Horrible, could only sleep, couldn't b shoer, drink the water, adjust heat - Beds Brown water, broken thermostat, no wifi, no satelite tv, no continental breakfast, no cold water. Horrible
- Gaby (5/5): Good location and room but water and wifi not good - Good location, next to the Visitor Center. Room was spacious and clean. We could use the microwave in the kitchen. We stayed 2 nights. In the first night, the hot water of the sink was brown and the shower was not stable. We had to buy drinking water. Wifi did not work at all. On the second day the water was less brown but not yet clear/clean and wifi only worked intermittently.
- Victor (10/5): - Excellent
- Craig (5/5): Passable - Rundown. And need some repairs.
- VICTOR (10/5): - Privacy
- Daniel (9/5): comfortable, friendly staff - Good hotel Nothing
- Starlet (2/5): - Need to work on there sewage
- Yifei (8/5): - Smells not very good.
- Kendall (2/5): - Smelled like sewage and other odours. Place is seriously run down, not what I expected from the Nova brand. Worst hotel I have stayed at in many years
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was ok for the basics. - This is an older and well worn hotel. The room that I was in was clean and comfortable, however, there were few downsides.
I was in the room for six days and had to ask for some housekeeping day 3 to get the garbages. No other service was provided to the room.
For some maintenance issues that were brought up to the staff, some were fixed some were not.
There was no remote for the TV, just the cable box.
Very limited choices for a cold breakfast in the morning
- Paul (10/5): - Comfortable lodgings. Close to hospital.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Susie (5/5): Passable - Room was clean, friendly and helpful staff. An odor lingered in the room and hallway. No deadbolt for safety. Doors shift. Wanted to check in early in the morning (5am) but no one there and no one answered phone.
- Julia (4/5): Disappointing - The staff was nice This place has seen its best years some time ago. The carpet floor in my room was full of stains and the air was full of sweet smelling disinfectant. What I really disliked were the nightly calls on my room phone.
- Beveridge (4/5): Disappointing - Being close to the door on the second floor Could only listen to music on the tv and not watch anything.
- Cathy (10/5): - Wonderful staff and helpful and kind property manager.
- Yifu (10/5): nice stuff - N/A Nice clean room
- Mingfang (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (6/5): Could have been great - Well located and easy to find… the room was large and clean …it even had a fireplace , though not used The room was uncomfortably hot will no apparent way to regulate heat except sleep with an open window…the breakfast was pretty basic
- Robert (7/5): Could have been great - Modern premises and in good condition…easy to reach and loads of parking… The room was too warm and there seemed no way to turn down the heat….the breakfast was pretty meagre, I chose to go out.
- Michael (5/5): It was only option I had and the worst option at that - Nothing Was not clean
The building was not taken care of
The furniture was chipped as were areas in and outside of the building
The room had not been dusted in quite a while
The window sills were dirty
I can only image what the Carley was like so always wore my socks
The breakfast area looked like a dungeon with sparsely populated areas
The breakfast itself had no eggs no meat no drink options except coffee
The hotel might have been a good idea at one time however it is on the downward slope being a total waste
- Paraluman (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): - Not a bad place just way out there.
- Yanhua (10/5): - A great location and great services. The rooms is clean. We enjoyed our 2 nights' stay.
- Yue (9/5): Superb -
- Kendra (5/5): Passable - Smelled like strong perfume, wasn’t super clean (especially carpets), some front staff was friendly but others were super unhelpful.
- Alan (4/5): I was glad my stay was only one night - The location was terrific, across the street from the hospital. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was basically non-existent, and we purchased breakfast groceries to get a meal with some protein. There was no working TV in my room, and my choice for cooling was a noisy portable AC or the window (I chose the window). The sheets were rough and I prefer a flatter pillow. My neighbours were up at 3:30 leaving for work I presumed (several rooms worth of people). Of course the property can't control when people are moving around.
- Antonio (8/5): Comfortable place to stay on vacation - Quiet, good location All good
- James (7/5): not great and not bad - this is what you get in inuvik tv did't work...breakfast had not fruit
- Janny (4/5): - We stayed here for two nights in July 2023.
The staff was pleasant but the air conditioning wasn’t working so the room was extremely hot and humid. As well there was no hot water, so no hot showers. The TV also did not work. Was advertised that a free breakfast was included, but no breakfast was available.
- James (7/5): not bad...not great - relatively new hotel tv did NOT work...breakfast was minimal...rooms were hot
- Robert (8/5): - They are a 20 minute walk into town and the few restaurants available
- Victoria (7/5): Nice hotel, good location, very quiet, perfect for a short stay. - Very convenient location, friendly staff, free parking, comfortable beds. Breakfast was very limited to bread, cereal and muffins. Rooms could do with a good spring clean.
- Jin (6/5): Pleasant - The stuff on site was very friendly! The guests in the room across the hall were a bit noisy.
- Mary (8/5): Very good - the staff were very friendly & the rooms were clean no place nearby fo meals unless you had a vehicle & the bathrooms were not great for people with handicaps
- Shashi (8/5): Excellent location and clean room. - The location and staff were amazing The facilities and amenities in the room were old and faulty.
- Gary (8/5): Very good -
- Cheryl (3/5): Poor - The staff did all they could. AC in room did not work, More of a worker hotel that a vacation hotel.
- Edna (4/5): - No hot water for 2 days, air conditioners not working and tv not working. Would not recommend the stay unless improvements happen. Staff was courteous and helpful as possible.
- Suwarupa (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very accommodating. The food(dinner) on both stays were very good. Was a bit apprehensive seeing it was the only accommodation at the halfway point to Inuvik. There was nothing to worry about, everything worked out well.
- LEO (4/5): - Arctic oven. The never down sunset baked the entire room like 110F, and they don't have air condition.
- Ronald (2/5): - The HVAC is broken for at least 2 weeks as we stayed there before and after our rafting trip. Maintenance is very far behind. Bathtubs don't have stoppers. Bed was poorly made and pillow sheet dirty. I would not stay there again. RB
- John (8/5): Very friendly very helpful - The staff were exceptionally nice, it made our stay Nothing
- Deborah (8/5): clean affordable lovely staff - price location and pet friendly the room was a little warm despite the ac unit
- Estelle (8/5): - The front desk staff are stars. I’m very impressed with their level of dedication to provide the best customer service they could with all the limitations being in a remote area and an old building with all kinds of challenges.
- Michaela (8/5): Very good -
- Jeremy (5/5): Poor value for money. wouldn’t book again - Clean sheets and hot shower Room was stifling. Had portable air conditioner but sounded like having a motorbike in your room. no food of any kind. poorly maintained. our room curtain came off rail when opening. very bent towel rail.
Generally not loved. Did have communal cooking facilities but even they looked very unloved.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberlee (10/5): - The staff, especially Hope, make Nova Inn a great alternative when staying in Inuvik. Even when facility issues are beyond their control, they keep smiling and offering friendly guest services.
- Phil (4/5): Better Than a Night in the Car - The best part about the whole place was Hope, the wonderful lady behind the desk - best asset the Nova Inn has Front doors didn’t operate, elevator didn’t work, no food facilities at the Inn, badly broken loose tiles on the bathroom floor - had to wear shoes not to cut my feet - dirty dishes in the cupboards, noise noise and more noise… all night inside the Inn
Sad to say it has totally gone down hill in the last 5 years.
- Leah (7/5): Good -
- Pope (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jack (4/5): Disappointing -
- Norman (6/5): - Location is close to highway but no other amenities close by. Asked about a gas station and didn’t get a answer or any help like an address. At 9:30 pm there wasn’t any place to get food in the town as far as I could find. Overpriced but then it is in Inuvik!
- Cecilia Lai Man (8/5): Give them a try - I think people just have to give this place a chance. It has plenty of potential, rooms are big, hallways are wide, it’s pretty clean. I think when you are in Inuvik, you have to adjust your expectations. Staff are super friendly and trying their best with limited resources. It’s really not a bad place to take a snooze.
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good - The manager was so great and understanding as we were stranded in inuvik, everyone of the staff were so helpful, and made us feel at home and took all of our stress away.
- James (8/5): - I had a good stay. The place is clean and the staff is friendly.
- Todd (8/5): Not a lot of options in this small town. - Good location and reasonable value for such a remote location. Smokers in non-smoking rooms.
- Zhi Hong (6/5): - I like the place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad but no breakfast or laundry - There was supposed to be a free breakfast included but the hotel didn't have an active food handling permit so there was no breakfast... unfortunately we were informed about that until we tried to get breakfast in the morning. The wifi in our room was weak to the point of not being usable so we went to the lobby (wifi was good there). Shower had good pressure and hot water. The town is small, which is a good thing because the hotel seems to be located almost at the edge of town (there are other hotels more centrally located). There were supposed to be laundry facilities onsite but there was only one functioning washer and dryer and they were for staff use. The staff were friendly.
- Wai (7/5): Good -
- Chenqi (9/5): Superb - You can eat three meals in the café of the hospital across the street (trust me). It is very affordable and tasty.
- William (6/5): Pleasant - Rooms were clean and comfortable The hotel advertised breakfast but apparently hadn’t been able to provide breakfast for several months. They didn’t advise us prior to arrival and didn’t adjust the price. Furthermore the hotel is in serious need of repairs. The bathrooms in the main floor public area were out of commission the taps in our room leaked a window was broken etc.
- Debbie Scott Michael (2/5): - Website indicates free breakfast but this was not supplied.
One loose open teabag in room, when I asked for more they did not have any.
Website says wheelchair accessible, but only if you lift the wheel chair up 6 stairs to the elevator.
Two microwaves in common kitchen area did not work.
Morning of checkout the elevators did not work and I had to ask…only then did staff reset a breaker.
- Robert (10/5): - I must compliment Hope for her dedication and determination to take care of our needs. It's not easy to do when you are a thousand miles from everywhere.
