They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and right at home. The vibe is relaxed but stylish, and the décor and furniture give the hotel a unique, boutique feel with so much personality! It all comes together to create a really memorable stay. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel comfortable. The only thing I did not like was that I could not stay longer!

I will be back! - On the recommendation of a family relative who stayed at this property, I decided to depart from my usual Marriott booking practices to stay here on a business trip to Columbia. Overall, I have to say that I was very satisfied with my experience. First, the location is right in the middle of downtown. Convenient to the Main Street area and a navigable walk to the Vista shops and restaurants. The surface lot parking is very convenient as you have an entrance door adjoining the lot (no parking garage or valet needed)...easy. The lobby is a little smaller than most but that's to be expected with a boutique hotel. I would describe it as cozy, well appointed, eclectic, and comfortable. The fitness center is fine with some good equipment. The front desk staff is one area where this hotel shines. They're friendly, seem eager to please, and the one gal remembered my last name and used it when we interacted. Nice job of hiring and training. I love the complimentary drink at the bar they have set up behind the front desk...it's a nice touch! Now to the rooms. We had a king bed room that was BIG and nicely appointed. The bed was VERY comfortable so kudos to the hotel for making the investment in good bedding. This being 2025 I am at the point where I will start dinging hotel properties for using individually sized shower supplies. Almost all hotels I stay in now have transitioned to wall-mounted dispensers for shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. We have just the one planet and we need to take care of it, so I would encourage the owner to consider making a change here. The breakfast food offering (outsourced) is another weak spot. For this class of hotel I'd recommend a fresh look and upgrading the offering. Call the Restoration Hotel Charleston and ask them about the breakfast baskets they drop off at each room. That approach would be perfect for a boutique hotel of this caliber. Thankfully there are other places nearby where you can get breakfast so I don't view this as a deal breaker. All things considered, I enjoyed my time here (actually had to extend my stay an extra night so I got to get a fuller experience than just a one night stay). I will likely be including this property when I need to stay in Columbia on business or leisure travel...as a change of pace from my usual Marriott approach.
- S2688XLconnies (10/5): Reunion fun! - I give Hotel Trundle a 10/10! We had a reunion there and Jess was fantastic helping us with the details. Rooms were very nice. The lobby has so many nice sitting areas. Many people staying there hung out there with their friends. It was fun meeting other people! The employees were so friendly. Breakfast was from a local bakery and Drakes. Location was perfect to walk to everything on Main! Can’t wait to stay again!

Beer or wine at check-in is nice touch. Shower heads and water pressure is sub-par. Breakfast is a slider biscuit with a chicken nugget. and a couple pastries. Breakfast never changes so if you stay more than one night, look around town for something more appropriate for breakfast.

Very satisfying chicken biscuits and coffee for breakfast. Passing thru town and stayed one night but would book for a longer stay. Staff was very pleasant and helpful, too!!

She got me checked in quickly, shared helpful info about the hotel, assisted with parking, and even offered me a drink and snack to settle in—such a thoughtful touch! The hotel itself is absolutely charming—chic, colorful, cozy, and full of happy vibes the second you step through the door. My room was immaculate (cleanliness: 10/10), with beautiful décor, comfy slippers, a plush robe, and gorgeous artwork that made it feel special. The bedding deserves its own shoutout—I slept so well, it felt like being wrapped in a cloud. Amenities? Another 10/10! In the morning, I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and got some work done in the stylish lobby, which was the perfect atmosphere for a “working breakfast.” I also loved the quiet hours (10 PM–7 AM), which made my stay extra peaceful and restorative. This hotel really has everything: personality, comfort, and genuine hospitality. Trundle is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ll definitely be returning every time I’m in Columbia, SC. 💕

It was beautifully decorated and the lobby has tons of games and sitting areas to look out the windows and relax. Continental breakfast was included and was very good. The only knock we had was that we requested "maid" service but they never came. The hotel itself was excellent and I would definitely recommend.

- Catherine (6/5): Family wedding - I was in town for a wedding. The hotel definitely has a retro boutique vibe to it. The lobby was beautiful and vibrant! Even though the rooms did match the photos on site for the most part; it did not capture the true room itself. The room was very dark and not much natural lighting. The bathroom was spacious but again the lighting was not great. The only real issue I had was the A/C not working well. I was told it was really hot outside and the A/C just could not keep up. They moved me to another room but it was the same issue. Thank goodness they did have a really good ceiling fan that helped me make it through! The front desk staff were super sweet but unfortunately the air conditioning just could not be fixed while I was there.

We stayed Friday night so that we could walk to Soda City Market on Saturday morning which was only approx 60yds from the hotel entrance. Bed was great. AC was excellent and adjustable in the room. Rooms are very quiet. We were on second floor on Taylor Street and neither street nor room noise were noticeable. Room was clean with a great ceiling fan with variable speed to suit your needs. Coffee was great. Shower head and pressure were disappointing. Literally about 8 streams of water at low pressure. Breakfast is yogurt, bagels, pastry, and slider chicken biscuits.
