The views are amazing & the staff is nice & accommodating.
Book your dinner reservation for the sunset on their patio! Its gorgeous!
This is a must stay in the area for sure!
We are all in this one together and together we aint neva gonna be alone!
- Marian (10/5): - Fabulous all round.
- Tarisa (10/5): - Property is gorgeous with the waterfalls and fantastic view! Room was warm and comfortable. Enjoyed the dinner options and the staff were kind and helpful. Had a wonderful stay!
- Cathleen (8/5): - Great location for touring western Iceland. Beautiful views over a waterfall and river. Good restaurant with many choices. Good breakfast buffet.
- Lauren (10/5): Loved the waterfall - Great stay, loved the view, breakfast, dinner, and opportunities for walking around the property.
- Doug (10/5): - An absolutely amazing local hotel, restaurant, and campground. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, courteous, and helpful, and we loved every aspect of our time (two nights - wish it could have been longer). The food at the Rock-n-Troll pub was excellent and the views of the surrounding natural beauty were peaceful and magnificent. 6 stars out of 5 (and no, I'm not being paid for this review)
- Rachel (10/5): - Beautiful property. Cozy room and good breakfast
- Rebecca (6/5): - It was a bit more remote than I thought. It was raining and dark which made it harder to navigate especially when crossing a one lane bridge. Probably a better place for hikers/campers with kids.
- Robin (8/5): - Unique stay by beautiful waterfall.
- Stephen (10/5): - This hotel is like no other in the world. A combination of gorgeous location, wonderful staff, and a little classic rock and roll history and Icelandic folk lore mixed in.
- dinh (10/5): - I’ve a really great experience at
- jeffrey (10/5): - Staff was great fixed us a take away breaky as we had to leave early. The location is so surreal and the troll park is a must see
Dinner was extremely awesome with the chefs specials
- David (10/5): - Beautiful location, friendly staff, and nice breakfast included.
- Sonali (8/5): - Smaller bathroom and outdated infrastructure but good stay
- Julie (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The troll walk is very interesting. The restaurant had excellent food. The views were great. Only a 30 minute drive to the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls.
- David (8/5): - The location and scenery.
- Diane (6/5): - The dinner was good. Location is somewhat out of the way, but stunning! Breakfast selection is excellent.
- Alix (10/5): - Everything
- Alix (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Rick (10/5): No HOT tubs. Only warm - When we arrived we found out the t.v. did not work. Then we discovered that their Hot spring Hot tub was not hot, it was warm. If you come for the hot tubs go on down the road a short way to the Foss hotel great HOT tubs and spa.
- Tarrie (6/5): - The property is in a beautiful location right above the troll, but is pretty dated. Ratty towels and old beds and rooms, might be a good place for a family looking for a deal. The trolls and rock ‘n’ roll theme were a little off, but again fun for kids. Nice to have a hot tub with geothermal water at the end of the day, but there were no views and bright lights in the hot tub area, not very relaxing. Breakfast was decent.
- Jamie (10/5): Fossun - Amazing location, great breakfast. We had one restaurant meal which was good. Used Kitchen for other meals. Used hot tubs and room was very warm and comfy. Would definitely recommend. Nearest supermarket is probably about 20 minutes in Borgarnes.
- Milay (10/5): - Great location, great breakfast, great people!
- Anthony J (8/5): Cozy country lodging - Ok, this is a "country" hotel. It is more like cabin buildings with multiple rooms per each building. The room was clean and comfortable with heated floor in the bathroom....nice. This hotel also has a cooking area in case you wanted to prepare your own meals along with a restaurant (which we did not eat at). It was comfortable and cozy and the small waterfall in the back of the reception building was nice.
- Nancy (10/5): - Nice little county hotel with easy viewing of northern lights
- Matthew (10/5): The peace and quiet of a raging waterfall! - Charming little place in the middle of nowhere, which I loved. Incredible quiet except for the roaring river and waterfalls the hotel overlooks. The breakfast was excellent and offered lots of options, and the dinner I had one night was delicious. A great choice!
- Richard (10/5): - The view of the waterfall and mountains was spectacular. The restaurant was quite good, would stay here again!
- tara (10/5): - Beautiful space with lists of trails. The troll garden was cute, dinner was amazing and we had a spectacular view of the northern lights!
- Celestine (10/5): - Our favourite stay in Iceland. Charming grounds with in-house "glass house feel" restaurant overlooking a mini waterfall. Having our dinner and breakfast there was extra special.
- Mike (10/5): - Lovely location with view of waterfalls from my room. I ate in the restaurant both nights and the meals were excellent.
- Christian (10/5): - Short & sweet stay at Fossatún Country Hotel. I really liked my accommodations, perfect for what I needed for a one night’s stay at the hotel.
Plus, breakfast was delicious.
It is quite a bit far from the town of Borgarnes though, so make sure you pickup your food/snacks before venturing out.
- Patricia (10/5): - Check in was easy. The country setting with waterfall and trails was nice.
- Terri (10/5): - Great place! Beautiful views, hot tubs, great food…and the Troll stories are great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great option - I liked the room, country style, don’t expect anything super fancy but comfy and clean, big bathroom and parking
They offered breakfast to go since we were living early
- Shannon (8/5): - The physical geography of the area is so beautiful and we had a nice view of the falls from our self-contained room. The troll stroll is quite the unique feature of the property and we had the best burger in a long time at the restaurant. The rooms are a bit sparse but overall we had a great time and would recommend to those travelling the ring road around Iceland.
- Mary (10/5): - Very nice! Food was excellent!
- evangelos (8/5): - Ok for the money
- Stuart (10/5): - Very fun imaginative place! Would definitely stay here again.
- Carol (10/5): - A unique property with friendly personnel. On the road to Borgarnes if coming or going north. The Troll cafe and walk are both enjoyable. We used the hot tubs but not the communal kitchen.
- Peter (10/5): - The cabins were very comfortable and had fast WiFi. The day was rather cold so the central heating was a bonus. The troll walk and waterfalls made the stay fun and the food in the restaurant was excellent and well priced. I can recommend the beer. Check in was easy and the staff very pleasant. We wish we could have stayed longer.
- Amrutha (10/5): - Clean room and shower, nice breakfast. The area around the hotel is very pretty, there are trials to walk and a small waterfall. Overall a good stay.
- Michelle (10/5): - Waterfall behind the building. Nice little walk. Breakfast was great
- James (10/5): Great stay in quiet location. - We stayed 2 nights as part of our Iceland ring road trip. Communication was great. Parking a breeze. Excellent staff for check-in. Room overlooking water cascades. Included breakfast was very good.
- John (10/5): - Great place to stay at all the amenities we needed. Staff was very pleasant.
- Daniel (10/5): - Staff was courteous and efficient. Food was good, and rooms were very nice. We would love to come back and stay here on our next visit!
- Heather (10/5): Happy with our choice! - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The owner and staff were especially friendly and helpful! After a long day of sightseeing, we appreciated the multiple hot tubs and delicious meal options. Staff were very kind and accomodating. Room was comfirtable and clean. Loved the heated floors ;) also, geeat views surroubding tge property! Highly recommend!
- Nancy (10/5): - Beautiful location, great food, troll path was really fun. Hot tubs were relaxing. Owners are on site and very kind and helpful. Delicious breakfast!
- Dave (10/5): Room with a perfect view - We had a room with a wonderful waterfall view directly in front. The room was warm and clean. The staff were friendly. Dinner was great.
- YOON DO (10/5): - Kind staffs
- sandra (10/5): - We chose this hotel for its location, in the middle of nowhere, to see the Northern Lights and we achieved our goal, we just walked behind our room and it was dark enough to enjoy the lights. The hotel is surrounded by nature, there is a nice waterfall that you can enjoy from the restaurant of the hotel and a trail. Close by there are more waterfalls, all of them beautiful.
- jarmin (8/5): - Everything
- Hans-Kumar (8/5): - Room was very comfortable and the area was quite nice. Staff were helpful for the hotel itself but the restaurant service was very poor. Also some broken amenities (laundry) while I was there.
- Terri (10/5): - Check in and out was easy. I love the troll walk! My last night there I got lucky and saw the northern lights! I would recommend staying here and would do so again myself.
- TSU-YAO (10/5): Recommend - Nice and clean hotel operated with heart. Breakfast was great and service at the counter was helpful. Recommend who wants to visit the west coast. I like the hiking path behind the hotel
- Joannah (10/5): A very pleasant stay - The hotel is located next to the Troll Waterfall a beautiful scenic place to stay. The room is clean and equipped with fridge, microwave and a desk for laptop. Staff are friendly and helpful.
- Dorothy (10/5): - If you don't stay at this hotel while in Iceland you are missing a gem! It is located in the country, but not far from village amenities. The property is surrounded by walking trails and is perched on the side of a river with rushing water and falls. The restaurant serves a great dinner too! WE had traditional Icelandic fish and lamb. The rooms were cozy and the hot tub was a delight. Plenty of parking. There are also little camping cabins. The staff were friendly and responsive.
- Katherine (10/5): - Wonderful stay!!! So comfortable.
- sungbum (8/5): - good wiew
- Kevin (10/5): - The natural surroundings are incredible!!
- Bruce (10/5): - Great location with scenic waterfalls and open skies
- Ryan (8/5): - Great view from our room, as well as from dining area. Perfect location for viewing Northern Lights. Nice walking paths around the property.
- craig (10/5): - Great views! Good food options and something for everyone. This property is so cool with lots to explore and see. Plenty of walking trails around and behind the property. Beautiful location.
- eli (8/5): Nice place to stay. - The place is very nice but the main light in the toilet was not working so as one of the lights in the living room. The view from the room is beautiful and breakfast was excellent.
- Kim (8/5): Good Stay - It was a good stay. Fossatun has everything, microwave, fridge, heater and etc. the restaurant was delicious. Reasonable price. I will stay again.
- Gary (8/5): - Stayed in the rooms with private bathrooms.
Liked the property - next to a small stream with a small but wide waterfall. Convenient if you are exploring the western peninsula of Iceland.
Room was nice and the modest breakfast buffet was great. I would stay here again if I was travelling to western Iceland or on my way further north.
- Christy (10/5): - Great place with their own falls; good restaurant; and comfortable beds
- Melissa (10/5): - Comfortable beds, great buffet breakfast to fuel up before a long day, nice view and walking trails outside the room, staff is very friendly and helpful. This is among the best places I’ve stayed Iceland!
- Jeffrey (10/5): - What a great property, they have a cute walking trail all about trolls. Dinner was very good and so was breakfast. The staff were very nice. The spas could be a bit hotter, but we loved our stay here. We couldn't get into one of the pods, which I thought would be fun, but very happy with where we stayed.
- Meredith (10/5): - Our favorite of the 6 properties we stayed at when touring Iceland. Located by a river with a small falls. Beautiful sunset. Dinner from the restaurant was very good. We also liked the troll garden.
- Guillaume (10/5): - Great place to stay in Iceland. We were fortunate to be in room #1 with the best view. Included breakfast is totally worth it.
- Stephen (10/5): Nice cabins, good scenery, "troll hiking trail" - Beautiful area located right beside small waterfall. Excellent breakfast.
- Kevin (10/5): - Nice spot out in the country. The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was very good and the staff were super friendly. Glad we stopped here on our trip.
- Pei-Wen (10/5): - Excellent!! Great restaurant!
- Craig (8/5): - above average amenities in room, good location
- Attila (10/5): - Comfortable wood house. Breathtaking view from the window. Friendly staff, Very good breakfast.
- Chee Kiong (10/5): - Very nice place to chill out. The dinner options were also great. Of course, best experience from the great services from everyone that made us felt at home
- Molly (10/5): - This was an amazing stay and I will absolutely be back. Stunning view, great restaurant, and amazing staff.
- Viktorija (10/5): - We had an amazing stay! Staff was super nice and very helpful.
Property itself had a lot to offer. Nature around it was amazing, we even saw aurora borealis there. It has an amazing story inspired by trolls, which gives another dimension to the surroundings. All in all, we highly recommend it. 🤗
- Jonathan (10/5): - Great staff. Really nice spot for Northern lights. About 20-30 minutes from nearest town. The smell of the sheep nearby and creep in with the wind, not there fault. Enjoyed there breakfast very much.
- Pornput (10/5): - Great places and great staffs here.Very delicious foods.
- Tayaa (10/5): - The hotel has a restaurant attached, we arrived pretty late, tired and hungry. The owner actually got us something to eat even though the restaurant was closed. We sat and chatted with the owner telling us about the area and the Hotel. The Rock N Troll restaurant has much symbolism. The owner even wrote a children’s book about the trolls for sale in many languages. The owner even signed one for us. The site is on a waterfall that was outside our room, be sure to look for the troll when sitting for breakfast, he resides in the side of the rocks. There is a great spot to view the northern lights as well if the timing is right.
- Yi Hai (10/5): - Nice view from the restaurant, hot tub and good option for breakfast.
- Grace (10/5): - The area around the hotel is beautiful, and we wished we had more time to explore the trails. We booked two cabins (two couples) and both were comfortable. The cabin was equipped with kettle, fridge and even a microwave. There was also a heated towel rack. The breakfast selection was adequate.
- James (10/5): - Great location overlooking a series of waterfalls.
A great selection of classic vinyl records in the dining area.
- Sian (10/5): - Amazing stay. We were there for one night whilst travelling up north. I called as we’d arrive after check in closed. It was no issue. He told me my accommodation room number and I was open for our arrival with the keys left inside. Lovely, clean accommodation with really comfy beds. If I was coming back I’d certainly book a couple of nights here
- james (10/5): - Beautiful waterfall in our front yard. Room was adequate. Needs new pillows. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. I would stay here again.
- Christine (10/5): Highly recommended - Typical Country Hotel with each room having its own access to outside. Lots of 'Troll' information and trails overlooking a beautiful waterfall. Food was good and very reasonably priced, and the excellent breakfast was good quality - the first time we have had real sliced ham for breakfast instead of pre-formed, fruit was very fresh, warm bread etc. Facilities were very good, access to well equipped kitchen if you wanted to self cater (as well as the fridge and microwave in the bedroom) and showers and toilets for campers and hot tub users were very clean and comfortable. Excellent value stopover with everything you need.
- David (10/5): Good location to see the northern lights - We stayed here for one night on our trip round the ring road. This would be a good location for northern light spotting if the weather was right.
Our room was overlooking the waterfall and had everything you would expect including a mini fridge and TV.
There are hot tubes on site and troll walks.
There were no evening meals when we stayed, but we were given access to a self catering kitchen and took advantage for the free breakfast the next morning.
- PANTIPA (10/5): - The waterfall view is amazing. Breath taking view in front of my room.
- Tanja (10/5): - Fantastic
- MARIA (10/5): Must stay! - Beautiful landscape nice size rooms
Great breakfast
- Frank (10/5): - Excellent room, cool vibe, great staff, just an all around awesome experience.
- Kathleen (10/5): - We arrived earlier to the hotel than the check-in time, but they kindly let us check in anyway. We were exhausted after a long flight, so it was heaven sent. The “Troll Walk”, which is just behind the hotel, was fun and also gave us a chance to look at the falls which are very close by. There are thermal baths, which looked inviting but we were too tired to partake in them. We enjoyed dinner in their restaurant, which was delicious, and breakfast, which was included, the next morning. Our stay there was a wonderful introduction to Iceland.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend! - This hotel was a charming respite in a remote area. There is a scenic view of a waterfall, which can be seen from the room window & the breakfast area.
Very relaxing. Highly recommend.
We brought our own food. There is a kitchen area for food prep. Bring your own food &/or check if the hotel has opened for the season yet.
- Juan (10/5): Amazing scenic hotel! - We stayed at this mazing spot in the main hotel, as there are other amenities such as cabins and camping on the same site. The rooms are contemporary in their design, very well finished and very comfortable! The river and waterfalls are visible and heard from the hotel windows with an amazing landscape and mountain view surrounding you on all sides. Breathtaking and a bit off the beaten path, so realize that you will enjoy space and distance to the larger towns located down the main road.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute rooms.clean and comfy. The facility has walking trails for kids and hiking trails.
- Les (10/5): - after traveling all night it was only a couple hours from the airport. We were able to get our room early with no extra fee and rest. Waterfall and trails on site. Several different types of accommodations to fit various travel styles.
- ruby (10/5): - this is the best stay during our iceland trip. the room is clean and the food is superb( try the lamb soup). we were so lucky to see the northern light. the troll walk is fun but we dont have enough time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute Cabin Overlooking Waterfall - Our room overlooked the waterfall and the troll trail. The room was up to date and spacious. There was a small refrigerator. We ate dinner in the restaurant 2 nights. The food was delicious and affordable. The restaurant sells beer from the brewery, which is located about 5 minutes by car. We visited the brewery and enjoyed that as well. There are 3 outdoor hot tubs, and we enjoyed those as well. We would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and quiet. Nice view. Floors were heated. Breakfast not included.
