• Daniel (6/5): - We recently stayed at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala Skyz and, honestly, it was a mixed bag at best. We arrived early around 1:10 pm, but our room wasn’t ready yet. Check-in is supposed to be at 2 pm, but we didn’t get any updates until after 2:10 pm when we had to go ask at reception. They said the room had been ready for a while but no one bothered to inform us—definitely a communication breakdown. We requested a quiet room but ended up with one right above the main walkway to the reception, and the property had a constant outdoor party. It was loud and made sleeping nearly impossible. Guest relations offered an apology but no solution for the noise, which was disappointing. We booked the room for two people, but the amenities and setup only covered one. To top it off, I found a long black hair on the bed linen, which looked like it came from housekeeping, and it was. We also ordered two Eid cakes from the hotel for 10 am, but when we came to collect them at 11, we had to wait another 30 minutes because they weren’t ready. We had to switch rooms because of the noise. The second room was quieter but looked out over the staff entrance and garbage area. By then, we were too tired to move again. All in all, while the Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala Skyz carries a strong brand name, it felt empty on the customer service front. I’m not sure I’d stay here again unless things improve significantly.
• Muireann (6/5): The service doesn't live up to the price - There were nice big rooms with an iron and ironing board in the rooms, comfortable beds and fresh water bottles in the room every day. Staff were pleasant always greeting the guests. The food in the restaurant was good and the view from there was wonderful. To access the breakfast area, I had to go down a lift, go outside (in the rain), go back inside using steps and then cross another courtyard to reach the breakfast. Also, I had been warned to ask for a room away from the conference rooms as the sound is tested loudly in the mornings. My wish was granted but I still here it in the distance!! I stayed for three nights and asked if I could check out late on the last day given that the hotel was only at about 30% capacity and my flight was late at night. They didn't even pretend to consider this request, suggesting I pay an extra night. The hotel I stayed in previously in Kampala was less than half the price and the sfaff were far more accommodating. Each day at breakfast, I asked for oat porridge (they had a sign offering it). On the last day, they actually brought it. However, it was oats and boiling water - They hadn't cooked it. Skyz just does not have the finesse of a Marriott Hotel.

• Daniel (10/5): - The Guest Relations team was fantastic, keeping us in the loop and proactively apologizing for any disruptions related to the event. We really appreciated their attentiveness. The only real issue we encountered was some noise from above our room – it sounded like furniture being moved and footsteps, which continued until midnight throughout the stay. Also, we had pre-ordered a cake for Easter, to be collected at noon, but it didn't was ready until almost 1:40 PM, which delayed my program.

We had a disappointing experience with the room allocation at this property. Despite booking a higher-cost room, the receptionist attempted to assign us a lower-cost room instead, which felt misleading and unprofessional. This discrepancy significantly impacted our stay and left us with a negative impression of the service. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this property based on this experience."

The reception is manned 24/7 so there is someone to help if needed any time. The rooms are very clean and housing keeping is brilliant. I was offered a room different from what I booked. I had no views at all despite paying a premium price. I was offered to be moved but it was too late by this point.

• Vincent (8/5): Excellent service, comfort but a little dated. - Hotel is situated on a hill top and relatively safe and secure. Stayed in a standard room with a shared balcony. Balcony extends to adjacent rooms but the view of the city was excellent. Room was clean, comfortable but a bit dated. Service staff were attentive and friendly. The rooms are not sound proof and the music from the restaurant and sky bar is audible in the evenings. Had a good selection of international and local food at breakfast and lunch. Recommend to enjoy the sunset views and drinks at the sky bar in the evenings or head to the well-equipped fitness room for a workout. There are a couple of supermarkets in the vicinity at the foot of the hill within walking distance from the hotel. Overall a good stay.

The breakfast was awesome. The offer a variety of food and fresh fruit and juices. The security there was top notch and very professional. The gym was amazing and the spa was mind blowing.

The people there are very friendly and they made sure you had everything you needed to enjoy your stay. Nothing at all.

Everything is clean and the breakfast buffet has everything you could wish for. The rooftop bar is just brilliant and highly recommended. The view over Kampala is a dream. Plus a delicious drink and great food. That's all you need. The wifi is sometimes weak. But I don't think that has anything to do with the hotel.

From the moment I arrived, I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the hotel. The value for the price exceeded my expectations, offering an array of activities to enjoy. The culinary offerings were exquisite, and the attentive staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. I am grateful for having chosen this establishment and would highly recommend it to others seeking a memorable stay. Opting for a club level room seemed like a good choice until I arrived and realized there was a lively club directly above, making it difficult to sleep due to the noise. Despite this inconvenience, the setup might suit those on vacation rather than those like myself who were primarily there for study and work purposes. Nevertheless, apart from that issue, every other aspect of my experience was exceptional – from the attentive staff and excellent service to the delicious food, well-appointed room, thorough cleaning, and overall ambiance.
