Guest Reviews
- Colin (6/5): DO NOT STAY if DISABLED!!! - I have written separately to Tap Motel/Restaurant. The Motel SHOULD REFRAIN from advertising ACCESSIBLE ROOMS, as the Staff assured my Husband on our arrival!
H&S issues numerous!!! Approach to Accommodation block by narrow pavement TOO narrow for wheelchairs, walking frames and pushchairs! Room NOT wheelchair accessible, certainly UNABLE to get into Bathroom. Toilet seat TOO Low (needed assistance), Mirror/Basin TOO high! I deliberately sent Tap Motel an email asking 'Accessible or not'? upon booking, Tap Motel IGNORED my email, NO RESPONSE! Restaurant HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, although booked a Table, was told 'NO BOOKING', eventually found a table, Food/Service EXCELLENT! Tap Motel are DEFRAUDING their Disabled Guests!
- Jason (6/5): - Pub was lovely great carvery…Room was very dated poor shower and in need of modernisation with damp spots in room and paint coming off walls…
- Mark (8/5): - good price but kitchen was closed before we arrived so not sure of quality
- Paul (8/5): - Room was clean and comfortable although the mattress wasn’t very comfortable. It’s a shame the view out of the window couldn’t be tied up.
The pub itself is brilliant and the food and service is outstanding
- Verified traveler (10/5): basic clean comfortable place to stay - Room was clean and basic with good shower in the bathroom. Relatively small room with dated decor and could do with a refresh. functional and adequate if you just need a bed for the night. Adjoining pub is nice inside with outside terrace and local beer brewed onsight. Quick taxi or 15 minute walk from the centre of Ashby De La Zouch. Really nice engaging staff
- Richard (8/5): - Very nice room , just the job for overnight stay.
- Richard (8/5): - Good value for money staying in cottage rooms while away for work
- Peter (6/5): - Be aware no food served on a Monday nor is breakfast available from this hotel. Go to Beeches pub for dinner. About five mins down road. Olive tree ( next to co-op) also about five mins away. I don’t think sheets had been changed on one of the beds as they were stained.
- ana (10/5): - Clean place and friendly people
- david (4/5): Very Poor - Don't be fooled by the Hotels.com rating, not sure how this is so high. My room was unclean, cold, damp and not very welcoming. When I checked in there wasn't much of a welcome, just given a key. The room was unclean, what appeared to be chocolate cake crumbs on the bedside table, stains on the floor and on the bed, damp stains on the walls and very basic furnishings. Went to get an evening meal which was OK but felt like I was in the way, then found out they didn't serve breakfast evening though it's on their booking page. Overall poor....
- Elizabeth (10/5): Lovely place, fair price - Brilliant, lovely comfy space. Friendly staff and the food was amazing. Happy to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Accommodation was just ok, room was very small and could do with a freshen up.
- Leanne (8/5): - Reasonable room with nice colour scheme. We liked the addition of juice on the drinks tray, as well as tea and coffee. (Shame it was PG tips) You can purchase a breakfast at the bar if you wish at a reasonable price. Bathroom was clean and includes mini toiletries. Room a little tired, with stains on walls and floors and some cobwebs - Halloween decorations perhaps :-) . Beds ok, a bit soft for us. Staff friendly. Easy to use heating if needed. Overall good.
- Robert (10/5): - Great friendly place to rest and have excellent food.
- Joan (10/5): Fantastic stay - We stayed at the Tap House for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was perfect 👌
We had a one bed room with plenty of hanging and drawer space. It was spotlessly clean and had tea, coffee, fruit juice etc. in abundace, nothing was skimped. The facilities in the bathroom were also excellent with lovely soft white bathsheets.
We can also highly recommend the restaurant. Fantastic choice of breakfasts, especially the eggs benidedic, also the lunches and evening meals. You are spoit for choice.
The staff were very helpful, efficient and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Congratulations to all at The Tap House formaking our stay very enjoyable.
- brendan (10/5): One night stay - The tap house was clean friendly staff food was excellent
- Peter (8/5): - Nice place , busy , very pleasant staff
On arrival , there was no hot water in 1a & 5a
We were on a minutes for a night out so cold showers !!!
The bathroom ceiling in 5a had recently been re skimmed ( plaster ) but not repainted
- Daniel (10/5): Lovely place - Lovely warm quiet room great food
- Paula (10/5): Friendly - Tap House was a friendly place to stay, unfortunately Kitchen closed on Mondays but allowed us to order in and eat at bar
Showers are amazing
- Mark (8/5): Good value for money room - The rooms of this hotel are separate from the pub. The room I stayed in was large, with two single beds. The bathroom was a good size as well with a decent shower. Overall, good value for money. The only downside was that no breakfast is provided, so i had to go to the nearby town to eat something.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great pint & but room 3a needs maintenance. - I don't like to be critical, its hard for business and hospitality at the moment and i have to say the Tap house does a lovely pint and has a great beer garden but i feel i have to comment on the room I stayed in given i stay away on business alot.
Firstly, the room and bathroom were not clean. The bathroom still had used shampoos on top of the shower door frame. There were cobwebs in the shower, there were also spiders on the underside of the sink.
The shower needs updated or at worst the corking redone to get rid of the mould.
There is also a leak under the shower and the carpet in the bedroom was wet as a result.
The pillows had stains on them, the bed sheet also was stained.
I know its not an expensive room but these for me are the basics. Perhaps just room 3a given the other reviews but it needs looked at as i wouldn't choose to stay in a room like this.
Great pint, local IPA was super but please address the issues with this tired room.
- keith owen (10/5): - Everything was excellent friendly
- Thomas (8/5): - Good for parking. Very Quiet. Large room. Plenty of drawer space. Fair Price .
