Guest Reviews
- Beate (10/5): My new Irish home! - I recently had to drop everything and fly home to Belfast because of a family emergency. I simply Googled “Best place to stay near the Ulster Hospital?”. A fantastic 5-star review appeared about Peartree Hill. I genuinely had more in my head so I simply made the booking. A few minutes after I received an email from Peartree Hill if I had any special requests. We arrived late at night and was greeted by Avril. She was so kind and had everything ready for us. I had a really long day traveling behind me and a hospital visit so I simply fell into probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. When I awoke I was looking at a beautiful view of Scrabo Tower and the stunning Irish countryside. A complete state of the art en-suite bathroom complete with floor heating. Strong WiFi, fridge, wide screen TV. Although I spent most of my time in the hospital, when I would come home I needed nothing. The room was cleaned, beds were made and Avril even placed a small jug of fresh milk in the fridge for my cup of morning tea. It was such a relief just not to have to worry about anything apart from the reason why I was there. If you are an author or screenwriter this is a hidden hideaway. Complete peace and quiet. It’s 10 minutes from Belfast City Center and 10 minutes to the East coast. They say every cloud has a silver lining. Well, I lost my father but found a new home away from home. Thank you Avril and Ian for making us feel so welcome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the view out the window, the separate entrance to our bedroom, the spacious bathroom with the heated towel racks, the breakfasts were delicious and the common areas with fireplace were cozy and welcoming. Avril does a great job making people feel at home. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Pear Tree Hill B & B.
- Carrie (10/5): - Peartree Hill is a haven where you can get away and relax. There are chickens on the property as well as a little koi pond. Avril and Ian take beautiful care of the house and grounds. The bathroom is modern and upscale. There is a lovely tub in the room we rented. The breakfast was delicious! We had to leave early the last day so Avril packed us a yummy picnic breakfast. I would highly recommend Peartree Hill. I hope to visit again soon.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful everything@ - Amazing boutique hotel/ b&b!
Wonderful everything!
- Timothy (10/5): A secluded retreat - A wonderful and personal experience with the Peartree! A quick 15-20 minute ride into the city and a secluded retreat with unbelievable views. The hosts were exceptional. We truly enjoyed our time.
- Zahl (10/5): - Excellent location close to all the action in Belfast but situated in a quiet country location. 15min drive to the city airport. Very well apportioned rooms with plenty of space, amenities and friendly helpful service from the owner.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Beautiful views of Irish countryside, Irish Sea and British isles beyond . Breakfast was abundant delicious and beautiful to see. Averil is a talented and friendly hostess. Highly recommend!
- Robert (10/5): - Wonderful stay. Beautiful property inside and out. Superb and attentive host. Comfortable, quiet and safe. Outstanding dining recommendation. Breakfast was wonderful. Lovely area. Would be happy to stay here again.
- Emily (10/5): - Avril really set the bar high our first night in Northern Ireland. She was very kind and hospitable. Great breakfast and beautiful views from the home.
- Christina (10/5): - The property was immaculate and the owners were warm and inviting. It was nice to wake up each morning with a delicious homemade tradtional Irish breakfast. This place is a hidden gem and worth the commute for a restful nights sleep.
- Howard (10/5): - A gem of a place to stay
- Vivi (10/5): - Beautiful and peaceful with amazing views. Arvil was such a helpful host and breakfast was delicious. We love our stay and highly recommend it to our friends.
- Christopher (10/5): - Excellent stay and the breakfast was fantastic. Will be booking again when we’re back in Belfast
- Joshua (10/5): - A wonderful and beautiful B&B ran by a lovely couple. Right from the moment you arrive until you depart, you will love this gorgeous place. Thanks Avril for your warm hospitality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Ulster countryside stay minutes from the city - From outside the front door, through the detail of our room, our hosts were very Covid-aware and respectfully sensitive. Yet the welcome was still as warm as we would expect from Ulster hosts, and the food miles were minimal which made it all the more delicious. We wanted for nothing. The attention to detail is obvious, and is so worth it. The views are amazing and the peacefulness was just what we needed.
- Jan (10/5): Outstanding experience, see you next time! - I've never had such a great experience on a stay like in these 2 days at Peartree Hill.
The host is really looking after you and wants to comfort you during the entire stay, never had such a quick and great service.
The breakfast ingredients came from the local suppliers, which were always really high quality and freshly prepared; I can really recommend the pancakes with the Marple syrup at this point ;-) !
Especially the bed and pillows were really comfortable which will make you sleep through the entire night an morning.
Since this experience, i would rather choose a bed & breakfast over a hotel, because you would never receive this intense care and attention or selection of high quality furniture or food in a comparable establishment in City Center Belfast.
We're looking forward for our next stay!
- Richard (10/5): - Beautiful room on par with the best hotels, reminded me a bit , of the g hotel in galway!! Breakfat amazing couldn't recommend it highly enough! Yes it's a bit pricey but it's also a bit special!! Don't be worried that it's a b and b!! It is more private and quiet and beautiful than any hotel!!
- Laurie (10/5): - A paradise place, hosted by the kindest couple we’ve ever seen, the view is better than on the pictures, the amenities are perfect, a really good place to go even for a night, it’s something to see and to live !!

- Eddie (10/5): Outstanding Accomodationm - Thisiew incredible was easily the best accommodation on our ten day trip through Ireland. The room was large, the bathroom excellent and the v
- Dave (10/5): A superb host - We were greeted on arrival by Avril, who is a superb host. Avril gave us the tour of the property and some fantastic local knowledge. Once we were settled in to our beautiful room that met all our needs and added a beautiful rural view. The location allows for a very peaceful stay and in the morning we started our day with a delicious breakfast. There was not one thing about our stay we could fault. We would certainly stay here again.
- Aileen (10/5): Business in Belfast - Lovely house in a beautiful setting in the countryside! The welcome was more than expected with tea made after a long journey. Breakfast is easily the best breakfast I’ve ever had on an overnight stay and I’m a very busy traveller! I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone!
- Andy (10/5): - Attention to detail, attentive hosts and breakfasts serving local produce not to mention amazing view make the stay memorable
- George (10/5): Amazing place, Incredible & exceptional breakfast - Amazing location, service, attention to detail & the BREAKFAST, oh my. Many, if not all of the items Avril serves for breakfast are either locally (like right across the street) produced or grown right on the property. My hostess was extremely helpful w recommendations for places to dine & which areas would be interesting to see. This place REALLY lived up to the high marks & 10 out of 10 rating it recieved on Hotels.com. I would love to stay here again someday. I highly recommend Peartree Hill.
- michael (10/5): - Avril our host was extremely nice and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, the views were exceptional, would highly recommend this place and would love to return, mick and Jenny
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unlike many other B&Bs that are crowded with antiques, this one had a modern flair. Updated ensuite bathroom with separate shower and tub, double sink. The room itself was quite large and had a comfortable loveseat in it. Also there was a small fridge in the room so the water was ice cold. For breakfast this morning there was a avocado, tomato and bacon on toast with eggs. The tomatoes were heirloom and the eggs were fresh free range. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed! I will stay much longer the next time I return to Belfast! Avril made sure all the arrangements and a beautiful breakfast were set...for my very early flight home. Wonderful Magical Location!!!
- JamesCarroll (10/5): - County setting and the people were the nicest people you could ask for
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room is spacious with large bathroom and includes a great view of Comber. Breakfast was sensational with a great deal of local produce.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This home is so thoughtfully planned out and has everything you need. The hosts are warm and really, this place is wonderful. Out of our two week stay in Ireland and Northern Ireland, this was our favorite. We stayed in some 5 star hotels in the cities and none of them compared to Avril's & Ian's wonderful home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was beautiful and the owners were very kind and welcoming
- CAROL (10/5): Wonderstay in Belfast - Wonderful stay. I would stay here in Belfast. The hosts are very accommodating. Everything is top notch from the food to the rooms. We stayed here 3 nights, and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The B&B is so peaceful at night. The location is very convenient to downtown Belfast, a short bus ride.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Avril and Ian were great host and very helpful. Their home is quite lovely with a great view of the Irish country. Breakfast was great each morning. We would recommend Peartree Hill to anyone. Avril goes above and beyond. My wife forgot her scarf and Avril mailed it to Dublin where we were staying.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Avril was very welcoming and accommodating to us during our stay at Peartree Hill. We loved our stay. The room was presented very nicely, as well as the rest of the property. The breakfast service was very personalized and added a special factor to the overall experience of staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a fantastic break in five star luxury accommodation. Avril and Ian have thought of everything you could possibly need right down to the beautiful Elizabeth Earle shower products and hot water bottle if ever needed!
The bed has to be one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in and we were blown away by the bottle of bubbly that was chilling in the fridge for my birthday. That meant such a lot Avril, thank you so much. Breakfast was amazing and being foodies ourselves, felt as if we were in a michellin star restaurant.....Fabulous!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Such a warm welcome and what a view! Fresh milk and a kettle to make a cuppa is such a treat as were the biscuits in the room. Breakfast is of such a high quality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved Peartree Hill , Avril was lovely and made the most amazing breakfast. Room was very big , comfy bed , modern bathroom. Everything we needed. Some lovely touches of baked goodies every day & tea / cakes on arrival .
- Geoff (10/5): - This was our second stay at Peartree Hill. As before, the attention to detail that Avril and Ian put into every aspect of the business is astonishing. I frequently travel around the UK in the course of my business, usually staying in similar establishments. Nothing else comes close.
- Rajeev (10/5): - I liked everything about this property. It is situated in a picturesque area of rolling hills that is not far from Belfast. The hosts were very hospitable and friendly. Amenities were excellent and of top tier quality. I only wish my stay was longer and can't wait to return.
- Barry (10/5): - Luxurious well equipped room and bathroom, well informed and helpful host, excellent breakfast choices. when next in NI we will try to stay there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The best hotel experience ever. Would stay there again and recommend my friends to stay there.
- Kathy/Chris (10/5): - This was the best location I could imagine for our honeymoon! The grounds were beautiful, quiet and we felt like we had stolen away to a secret oasis. The room was beautiful with fabulous amenities. The breakfast which could be served in room or in the dining room was delicious with many great options. Avril and Ian were kind, knowledgeable about the area and history and really made us feel at home. Simply an amazing place!
- Allister (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - Far exceeded all my expectations. If you get the chance if whole heardedtly reccomend!
