• Ruby (6/5): Would book again as last resort if no where else - The apartment was in good condition. However, TV viewing was disrupted, the remote control battery was not working, and the sofa was too small, uncomfortable, and too low. There is no TV in the bedroom, curtains are needed for privacy in the living room, and milk or basic food is unavailable for guests arriving late. Large deposit requirements are not made obvious until you've paid, and there is a complex process where all guest details and proofs have to be sent. This is feasible if it’s a holiday stay, but it is not convenient for others. WiFi access was not easy to spot. It is not clear when I will get the deposit back, either.
• Jack (10/5): Ok stay - Our stay at this property was ok we stayed for a friends birthday weekend. Facilities were standard tv only had freebies channels not smart like explained in the description and WiFi was not working for the duration of the stay but other than that it was fine.

• Stephen (8/5): Overall was a great stay - Our stay was lovely apart from the bed was too soft so it wasn’t very comfortable to sleep on with my arthritis. Also the fire alarm waking us up very early (just before 8am) and was in the street cold for nearly an hour as the fire brigade could not stop it as no instructions were in the building for zones and they were failing to reach buildings manager. That was not a nice experience to the end of our stay especially as we have had to rush to catch our train home.

• chrishM3852LX (2/5): SCAM - DISGUSTING - DONT STAY HERE! - DISGUSTING - VILE - TERRIBLE Business They are a scam outfit! I booked to stay and was informed after they had taken my money you have to be 25 to book a room - when is that ever a requirement at any hotel or apartment! I was then instructed on the phone by the employee I will receive a full refund - This was 7 weeks ago. I've not received my money back and they are now asking me to refer to their T's and C's instead of honouring their word to repaying my money. I sent over 20 emails they ignored every single one, they would not pass a phone call to a manager instead they direct you to sending more emails - but they dont ever respond. I only got a response when I raised the issue with Booking.com - who continue to allow this disgusting business to attract customers via their site. They record calls made to them but refuse to send me the call recording in which the employee guaranteed I will get my money back. Which is against UK LAW. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BOOK OR STAY WITH A COPANY WHO OPERATE LIKE THIS. THEY PROBABLY HAVE CAMERAS IN THE ROOMS AND GOD KNOWS WHAT THEY DO WITH THAT FOOTAGE. Instead of answering my query on sending me the call recording requested they choose to send me an email saying the matters closed - wont once pick up the phone to speak with an aggravated customer If you book after reading this you enjoy violence and anger on a day to day basis - this company will rip you off that's all they can guarantee! It was an Alex that emailed me today after I have made a huge amount of noise with booking.com - to whom they lied to claiming I cancelled the stay - but it was not me it was the company! Which is why they dont want to send me the call recording because im sure the employee asked me to cancel the booking - this is how they scam you and take your money - DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY!
• mrL2749CH (2/5): Avoid City Aldgate Apartments - Beware – Avoid City Aldgate Apartments I recently had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with City Aldgate Apartments, and I feel compelled to warn others. When I booked through Booking.com, I was not informed in advance about needing to provide ID or pay a £500 deposit. On the day of check-in, I was sent a link to upload my ID, but the link did not work. I contacted their staff for help, and during the call, the representative advised me to cancel the booking, assuring me they would speak to management about issuing a refund. Trusting this advice, I cancelled the booking – only to later receive an email stating I would not get a refund. This feels like a deliberate scam. They make it very difficult to resolve issues, and their communication is unreliable. I believe they exploit customers with unclear policies, last-minute requirements, and misleading promises. Booking.com should investigate this property and its practices.
• Lucy (2/5): Please avoid - Please avoid this accommodation at all costs. No check in details were sent prior to arrival, I had to call stood on the side of the road for them to email me the details. I was checked in to an apartment with a broken boiler. They were aware of this prior to my arrival however still allowed me to check in. An hour after I had checked in, a random man entered my apartment without warning. I found out he was from maintenance however 1. He has no ID 2. this should have been sorted or at least checked prior to my arrival 2. You should not enter someone’s accommodation after they have checked in without warning, which leads me to point 3. Especially a young woman staying on her own (which they knew about as you have to send a copy of your ID prior to check in). This left me feeling uncomfortable and on edge that anyone could let themselves into the apartment at any time without my knowledge. I did not complete my stay, and instead found alternative accommodation. I raised this with the company who run this accommodation. They did not care. Would not refund me for this, nor the boiler issue. The company is claiming they offered an upgrade. They did not, I have evidence to prove. They will not even cooperate with hotels.com, ignoring emails and phone calls. It is also not in Aldgate. The surrounding area is not very safe. No city views as advertised. Be careful. Simply, do not book.
• leeboygreen (8/5): Pleasanty surprised - Baffled at the previous poor reviews I read really wasn’t expecting much, but absolutely no complaints about our stay. Apartment was spotlessly clean and modern with amazing views over the city. We did have reservations about the deposit and the need for passport photos. There is no physical check in procedure but there’s is an element of escapes rooms with the door codes but all is explained via the check in email. I would stay here again but would again recommend being switched on with regards to checking in.

Do not book! - 10/16-10/20/2024 Stay: First, check-in instructions were not emailed to us ahead of the stay - we had to reach out when we got to the property and went through a long process to get checked in. When entering the building, it had an odd musty smell. Then, when we finally got into the apartment, there was a water issue in the guest bedroom and adjoining bathroom. When you stepped on the tile and flooring, water would bubble up from underneath it. There was also mold/mildew on the floorboards and doorframes, so this clearly wasn’t a new or one time issue. I immediately reported to the hotel with photos/videos and they said maintenance would come. They never did. We couldn’t use half of our rental due to the mold because I have a mold allergy and it was BAD. Maintenance never came. The hotel refused to refund any money, move us, or send maintenance. This is a true health hazard and they shouldn’t be allowed to rent out these units. Don’t stay here! I wish I could post the videos of the water, because the pictures don’t do a good job of showing all the water under the tiles.
• triffski (2/5): A mostly terrible experience - I booked through Super and arrived to the apartment from Liverpool at 8pm, for a gig that had already started. My plan was to ditch my bags and head straight to The Troxy, ten minutes away. I was provided with this information in the booking confirmation: “ Simply mention your name and present a valid piece of ID at the front desk to check- in” - incorrect, there is no check-in desk. After ten minutes at the front door (with a human turd a few metres to the left), failing to achieve anything, I decided to go to the venue with all of my bags and attempt to get a huge backpack past security, I had to leave some items with the venue management to collect later and pay to cloakroom my bag. Then I spent a good chunk of the gig wrestling with the Super.com chatbot to try and speak to someone. Eventually I got a phone number to call, spoke to them and they said I would need to check in by 11pm. That would be three hours after I was originally at the property and while the event I’d travelled to London for was still ongoing. Great. After paying a £500 deposit and handing over a copy of my passport, we were able to traverse the necessary hoops to get me checked in, which I was finally able to do around midnight, once I’d collected my things from various places and even squeezed in half an hour with friends. That’s around when the barrage of emails started to land, reminding me I needed to check out by 10am or be charged £25/hr. No, you’re good, I’ll. leave. Absolute farce. Just go to a proper hotel. Once I was in there, it was pretty clean, very comfortable, decent views and a nice terrace, certainly a good deal for what I paid but not where near worth it once factoring in all of the stress I encountered with check-in.

• Jhall2011 (6/5): Doesn’t live up to the pictures on the Website - Apartment pictures show the place when it was new or recently renovated. It no longer looks like that. The shower needs a good clean & parts replacing. I booked for two bedroom with 2 double beds & was allocated a double & single bed and then a sofa bed in the living room. There was some spare bedding finally found but no quilt.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great stay - Accommodation was excellent value for money. A lot of traffic noise and only 1 pillow each on our bed. However the whole process was great, well communicated with and easy collection of keys and access to building.

I booked through booking.com. 3 days later got an email looking for me to upload all our passport details through some link and a 500pound deposit. I thought this sounded unusual. I rang booking.com and was told that their under internal investigation. She told me not to send passport details. She recommended me to contact property directly and tell them I had a family emergency and asked for a refund. They emailed back saying no refund. They got €530 off me. Booking.com will not refund me either . Absolute joke. I can't understand how booking.com even have this company on their website. The reviews are terrible. Will never book with them again. Avoid at all costs

• LachlanD23 (2/5): DO NOT BOOK! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! - After booking the apartment through booking.com, I was contacted by City Aldgate Apartments in the booking.com message center where they asked for my passport, requesting it to be sent through an obscure link. Before having the chance to reply they called me and asked me to hurry up which I thought was odd. I reluctantly sent them my passport, as alarm bells were already starting to go off. They then sent me an email outside of the booking.com system, and requested that I send a £250.00 GBP deposit through another obscure payment link outside of the book.com system. At this point I began to suspect it was a scam, and I came to tripadvisor to check their reviews which are terrible, many customers experiencing the same thing, and being scammed out of security deposits. I contacted booking.com to request a refund, but due to Stay Inn's no-refund policy, they were unable to recover the funds. I lost about £200 GBP, and luckily not an additional £250.00 GBP, but I am still amazed that even after contacting booking.com, they were unable to retrieve the funds, or remove this malicious apartment from their website. DO NOT BOOK! SCAM!

Property has great transport links, close to a bus stop and walking distance to Shadwell DLR & Overground. Would happily stay again

• Adventure26792479788 (2/5): Avoid at all costs - Just got here waited a hour outside after a long day of traveling showed them our ID and information they needed , to be told we had to pay 500 pound upfront for a pin to get in we spoke to another person who was staying there he paid 75 pounds for the pin, so then rang them to explain to be told to f@@k off !!!! Think this is absolutely disgusting behaviour should be ashamed of your selfs don’t no how your still in business if that’s how you treat your customers WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!’
• Sarah (6/5): - When we booked, we knew it wasn't central, but there was very little near the property, less than we were expecting for East London, it's OK if you're prepared to walk 15-20 minutes to get tube/get to a busier area. The property is remotely managed without a reception which we didn't find out about until the day, it was not very clearly marked, this meant we had to pay to store it elsewhere. I think had we known this we wouldn't have booked. The property was clean and looked nice on a surface level, but looking more closely, there was rotting/damaged woodwork in some places and actually a lot of areas that needed some TLC. In the hallway there was a load of cables hanging from the wall which really should be boxed off. The kitchen was the least equipped I have ever seen. There was very little to use so you would be limited for cooking meals from scratch. The utensil draw consisted of a ladle and a spoon rest! Aside from that, as everything was managed by automated email, the process was straight forward, but the emails were quite aggressive and demanding, but also made little sense. Asking to create a secure account somewhere to upload you ID and then asking to send the link and the password still has me baffled! I wanted to be honest because previous reviews did not give details as to why it was bad, so this is all for context. It honestly depends on what you are looking for and expect. All in all it was an OK stay, but we wouldn't book it again.
• Reshwan92 (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE ITS DISGUSTING - i advise no one stays in this apartment or is the worst place i have stayed in with the rudest people i could have come across it’s not worth the money at all the apartments they describe online is not what you are booking as the apartment i booked said it has a balcony over the river thames when in fact it didn’t even have a balcony or look like any of the photos. the apartment had moulding on the roof which i have picture proof of and i have asthma when i woke up after the first night my throat had closed up i told them and they moved me to another one which was just as bad please people don’t waste your money in the disgusting vile place
• paigef532 (2/5): Catfish apartment - nothing like the images - A truly terrible experience! I didn't feel safe here. It was a faff to get into the building and room. Also, it was nothing like the images shown (!!) and it really didn't feel clean. The blinds were broken and a really loud apartment block meant very little sleep. I got out of there as soon as it got light!!

• Ruth (2/5): Not to be TRUSTED, FALSE ADVERTISING - This was a frustrating and upsetting experience! Myself and my friend had a last minute important businesses meeting in London and we booked what looked like luxury apartments. Not knowing London at all but having to choose what was left to book last minute, this looked good. We specifically looked for somewhere that had parking as we'd been told we'd struggle but there was train strikes on so we had no other alternative. When we arrived, there was a tiny side steet down a very dodgy estate with blockade at the bottom and double yellow lines. We contacted the advertised number to ask where we should park only to be told there was a sainsburys near by! We explained we needed parking as advertised and they said they didnt offer this. Then asked us to send photo ID of the two of us to a private email address, we did (even though when i have made bookings like this before ive never had to do this). Then we waited and contacted them numerous times explaining we had a meeting we were expected at and we wanted to just gain access so we could freshen up and get changed quickly. As it had taken over 3 hours to get to London. They said they hadn't received our details and they wouldn't give us the information we needed. This kept going on for hour. We contacted hotels.com for a refund which they are refusing, as the owner said we weren't sending tt get in, we missed our meeting and then had to drive 3 hours home. With them gaining over £100 from us and we came away with nothing!
• si2022000 (2/5): Worst customer service ever - I just want to say that I’m not the type of person to write reviews but I had the worst experience with the customer service from this location. I stayed there a week and I had no heat! I had to go out and get blankets because it was that cold! On top of that, my three year old was sick the entire time because it was so freezing in that apartment. They provided no help on this matter and then when I tried to ask them to compensate me on the matter, they started to ignore my calls and e-mails. They finally decided to only reach out after booking.com got involved but I am still waiting on a resolution.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! - I booked this apartment for my 30th birthday celebrations in London with my sister, we had travelled from Manchester, to be told they have a strict 25+ policy so we couldn’t stay there as my sister is 21 and they wouldn’t even refund me. Ruined my birthday. I wish I would have checked these reviews first but after reading them I’m actually glad we couldn’t stay there and didnt lose out on an additional £750 security deposit it’s a huge scam!!

• lifeofa587 (2/5): What’s London without the scammers? - I didn’t actually get to attend as they proposed a misleading advert on booking.com. They refused to cancel and claimed it’s non refundable. They mislead us into believing it’s the whole apartment, they proposed an £750 deposit. This was all made clear in the message they sent AFTER we booked. They have tight restrictions rules and age limits which are also not made clear. All in all this is not advertised properly and are targeting those who do not have this money to waste. So £464 down the drain as they refuse to refund on CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS disgusting people. Not to mention I called the call centre to be greeted with a very rude man who just said we cannot explain our issue to him as ir is not his problem and we need to contact booking.com. Sad to think people are doing this to others in the middle of this cost of living crisis. It just shows they are falling apart and have to withhold peoples money to get by. There was a few things to before actually going in to the apartment which was unnecessary and I would have done before if my confirmation email stated it which it did not. • Frankie (2/5): - Arrived at the apartment, my partner and I weren’t able to check in because Expedia and the Stay Inn Apartments Company did not send any information that they needed prior to check in, therefore we were standing outside in the cold and rain for an hour trying to sort this out. Once sorted we entered the apartment, it looked so modern and lovely, but then realised we had no toilet paper, no oven glove, no sponge to wash dishes, there were crumbs left in the side of the counter door, stained tea bags, dust under the bed that looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months, socks, crumbs and a face mask under the sofa cushions, and hairs left in the bath. With these issues in mind it restricted us as a couple to use the facilities to the degree that we would have liked. This apartment was obviously not cleaned before we arrived! When I called regarding the toilet paper the company didn't get back to me at all. I had rung them once to inform them and the second time I called the line said ‘the office was closed’ so therefore we weren’t able to use the toilet that night. The next day I rung the company informing them again, after not having a call back from them which they stated they would. I then had to call them several times for an update. They advised me that they had spoken to the cleaner and that she'd be bringing it to me soon, after hours of waiting and calling for further updates we finally got the toilet paper. • Verified traveler (2/5): - Where do I start!? If you are looking for a lovely apartment with approachable staff who are interested in making your stay here comfortable then please DO NOT stay here. I had issues with ages restrictions before we even arrived even though the only one person was under 25. The manager refused a refund and even kept the booking active until the end date to ensure he received his money. No apology no alternative. Paid for an apartment which was not used. Had I not called to query the address I wouldn’t have been told there were any issues. Managers like this do not deserve loyal customers as they have treated extremely unfairly.

I booked to stay here can I was meant to receive notification, which I didn't and did not receive any phone call. upon arrival I try calling them but the number is incorrect, after trying a few combination I got someone one the phone and she was very rude, useless and even had the audacity to hang-up the phone on me. At the end I have to find another place to stay in the mid of the night.
• Shaista (6/5): nice place- poor experience. - I stayed in the penthouse apartment on the top (5th) floor. A nicely done 2-bed apartment, clean, modern with good views of the surrounding. But the whole experience of booking, check-in, and minor things with the stay left a disappointing feel in me, sadly. The full check-in detail is not available to you on the hotels.com webpage when booking. Some of it comes soon after in a separate mail. Its, cumbersome, long, and confusing to say the least. There is no onsite reception, so one would expect the self-checking to be made as easy as possible. It’s not. The lady on the phone line is not reachable easily. And tells things to do that are not mentioned in the mail. Very confusing. Especially to someone new to the city. To add to this, she needs to be more polite. The final check-in codes are sent right at the last moment when you reach the property. Strange. If you have no access to phone, emails there, you are stuck. The apartment is on the 5th floor, but the lift was out of service. I had to walk all the way up with luggage. I spoke about this to the person on the phone; his response was ‘well, we didn’t advertise the lift!!’ Can you believe it?!! There were other issues like a very complicated, if ever functional, hot water control in the bath, a roller blind on the large bedroom window that could not be rolled up, no information on-site on things like switching on / controlling room temperature, etc. I will avoid this place next time. Didn’t get what I had paid for.

The entrance of the property was littered with cigarette filters probably from people who smoked by the roadside
• Stephen (4/5): Misleading Photos - This place was not as pictured on the website. I guess they featured the penthouse flat in the photos because we booked this room with the expectations of a spacious, luxury apartment with a large bathroom and bedroom, as well as a balcony. However, when we checked in, we were very disappointed to see that none of that was actually true. The pictures were very misleading, the bathroom sink drain cap was broken as well. Additionally, I had to submit credit card information and photo IDs for each guest for the security deposit, which didn’t make sense. Also, there were a bunch of rules associated with this flat (i.e. no shoes, no guests, etc.), which was a bit ridiculous considering the price we paid for the weekend. Won’t stay here again.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The actual apartment was lovely and the views from the living area where amazing but be warned this penthouse apartment on the 5th floor does not have a lift!!! We arrived late evening tried and tried lift and gave up and walked with our bags up five flights of stairs!!! It was really hard work and I’m not unfit so think for some people with large suitcases it would be impossible. Asked someone working there the next day and and they said it never works! I think they need to state this, there was no sign to say lift not working. Also it is about 15 minutes walk to nearest tube station.

No communication about where amenities were, didnt know how to access rooftop and took a long time to find the washing machine. Elevator out of order and with 2 international luggage bags was difficult. Given 2 thin towels for the whole week. Unfortunately we had a poor experience after looking forward to having an apartment for the week after staying in hotels.

• Annabelle (2/5): AVOID THIS PROPERTY - What an appalling experience we had with this whole thing! We failed to notice the no under 25 policy, our fault entirely. However when we asked if one of our parents could check in with us we were told 'No' by the really rude, unpleasant woman on the phone from the office for these apartments. They even said they would consider letting us stay but to send over copies of out ID which we did, but still refused. The whole situation was horrid and I would advise anyone who is considering booking to avoid this property at all costs. The lady in the office was so awful to everyone who called her and it was totally unacceptable.

Small things would have made this even better. e.g. microwave didn't work, only 1 bedside lamp had a working light bulb, only 1 bin bag provided, no clean washing up sponge, and only 2 and a bit toilet rolls for 4 people for 5 days.

We arrived in London after traveling 4 hours to arrive at the appartment so I rang up and transferred 250£ for deposit and we had payed the room upfront and they then said we need everyone’s id not just the Booker (should of seen it coming then) they then said they would not let us in the appartment and said they have called the police for trespassing and have got all our faces and ids then that meant we was homeless and had no money because they had taken it off us then had to pay a fortune for a last minute hotel room on borrowed money! They are dodgy. Since then I have called up and they would not give me a refund so now we are out of pocket and we didn’t even stay there! Disgusting people !!!!DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! SCAMMERS
• Verified traveler (6/5): - The flat was clean and well appointed, but smelt of cigarette smoke. the laminate flooing was poorly laid in places. the only major problem was the huge amount of persoanl information demanded and the process of actually getting in.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and modern property close to London attractions. The only issue I had with the booking was the check in process. You have to send picture copy’s of ids and credit card which is a bit of a pain. You also only get checkin info at 2pm and have to complete another online form to pay a security deposit. Overall nice apartment but the check in process could be made a lot easier.
• Craig (8/5): Wrong address, wrong door code. - Further correspondence with owners did not include address of room, so I turned up at the top result on Google Maps for "City Aldgate Apartments", which was the wrong place. Although the same door code as I was given allowed entry, which led to much confusion. Security staff on phone were helpful, although when I did arrive at the right location, the code given was wrong! Luckily a passing resident helped me out. Apartment was nice, although the only cups were two coffee mugs and a single wine glass. No washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets which was a bit limiting on a one night stay.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - The customer service for the property is very rude and they do not want to understand the customers concerns. I was unable to check-in because I did not meet the age requirement of 25, so I spent the night at a friends instead. It is not written that the minimum age is 25 on the Hotel Overview page but instead, it is on the Check-in and Check-out page. I did not even get the chance to enter the property and this was my first time using this service however, they still refused to give my refund. Also, the area seemed to be very noisy and unpleasant. I would definitely not recommend this property to anyone! The price is so cheap for a reason.
• Janrda (8/5): Poor Service - The place inside was good as per photo but lack of any personal contact (no onsite reception)was a drawback. There was a terrace door when when we got there that was not locking. We called to advise but staff was rude and not understanding of security issue. Arguing that the door was fine.
• Scott (4/5): - First of all I was emailed asking for photo id of all residents less than 24 hours prior to arrival, luckily I waas still at home. 30 minutes before the checkin time I received a further email asking to pay the £250 deposit online. Ten minutes after the allowed checkin time I was sent the codes for the door. The code I was sent was incorrect! After another ten minutes of trying to get through to the office I finally got the correct code and was able to enter the building. Next problem, upon unlocking the keysafe there was no key! Another call into the office and another five minute wait until the house keeper arrived with the key. The apartment was nive enough although not ideally equipped, sleeps 4 but only three cups, three tumblers and three wine glasses. Also only three chair at the tiny dining table! The beds were comfy but only queen size so a little small. The apartment seemed clean enough but then found an empty box under the sofa, a packet of crisps behind the sofa and a hair bobble (complete with quite a bit of dust) on the bedroom floor. I have stayed in other London apartments that provide a much better service and are much better equipped.
• Pav (2/5): - The night before check-in the apartment trading as 'Excel Apartments' sent me an email requesting copies of all my guests' ID's and stipulated that no one under the age of 25 could stay. I saw the email the next morning (day of check in) and was on the phone to both the apartment and expedia for over 5 hours to sort this out whilst standing outside the building in the freezing cold. (Fyi the location is not too great either, close to some markets, and not the cleanest) There is no policy anywhere (expedia or other booking websites, or the apartments website) which stipulates guests must be over 25 - they offer family rooms and cribs so there is some inconsistency in their 'policy.' I was aware the check-in age was 25, which was fine as some guests and myself are over 25. They refused to release check in details and refused to refund me. They took near enough £300 and did not let me check in at all. The customer service provided was atrocious, and nearly left me in tears as I was shouted at and implied I was dumb as the reservations manager read out the date of births of my guests and explained how their age was under 25. Worst experience ever, I travel and stay in a apartments/hotels across the country and Europe, I have never had an issue like this before and never experienced such horrendous customer service in my entire life.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Apartment excellent/Area not good/Checkin horrible - Would have been better if the check in process was improved and directions to the place given prior. Have to spend over 30min in the night on the road trying to get access into the property. The area around is not good and doesn't feel safe at night. Had the penthouse and it is well maintained.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - The check in process wasn’t smooth at all (we stood outside for 15 mins +) We finally checked into a ground floor apartment. there was a lot of noise coming in as it’s a busy area. When we asked to move to another apartment due to noise, the management claimed that they did not have any other apartments for us to move into, and that we would have to call our booking agent to ask to move us. Meanwhile, he said he would get his operational staff to come in and inspect the noise. The operational staff came in at a quieter time for a couple minutes, and she said she would check if we can be moved to another apartment. We then heard back from management who said that the noise might have been temporary and we shouldn’t worry about it. We were reluctant to accept this because we only had two nights’ rest and didn’t want to risk an uncomfortable stay, we requested again to be moved and he refused to have us move due to incapacity. We then informed Expedia of our situation and Expedia advised that we moved elsewhere for our stay whilst this gets resolved. Expedia called management to ask for us to be moved and he was still refused then & also refused a refund. As we searched booking.com we found that the city Aldgate apartments were available for booking. It was confusing as management said there weren’t any rooms available but that was clearly untrue. It was disappointing. Luckily Expedia were kind enough to refund us for this horrible experience.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - The confirmation received from Expedia was for a ‘penthouse’ with a queen and king size bedroom (for 4 adults). Upon arrival we were on the first floor and the rooms consisted of a single room and double room. When phoning to report this, they stated an error between Expedia and City Apartments and offered a £20 refund!!! They also said that there was a put you up in the storage cupboard!!! No alternative was offered, was basically a take it or leave it offered! Terrible service.

When we arrived we were really impressed and it was a great stay. Bright and clean apartments and public areas. Right next to a supermarket and everything you would need. Felt very safe and would stay here again

Place was spotlessly clean, yes there were a few minor scuff marks on the paintwork, but the place was spotless. Great kitchen if you don't want to go out. Check in was easy once you have your codes, which are emailed. Only downside was the area. While I felt ok walking to/from the apartment I could imagine a single female being slightly intimidated by the area, especially if you didn't know that part of town. However, felt very secure inside. Would definitely stay there again. Having stayed in hotels 3 nights a week for 3 months, which can be a little 'sole-less' this was a welcome home from home.

• Meena (10/5): Lovely apartment / Business stay / Great balcony! - Although a little further than I initially thought from the City (25 minute walk), once I was at the apartment I was very pleased. Clean, tidy and spacious and would definitely consider booking again. I booked the apartment as a business stay and found it very comfortable.

The apartment was clean and quiet and I got a really good nights sleep on both occasions. Some points for feedback - the wi-fi wasn't good - I needed to do some work in the evenings and couldn't get a decent connection, which was disappointing. The television reception wasn't great, it would be good if the TV had the ability to go on Netflix instead. Further, I was looking to make a hot drink, only to find the mugs had stains in them - kind of off-putting. Having said that, the above wasn't make/break for me, I'd stay again in the apartments. The check-in/out was fine with clear instructions being emailed over ahead of check-in.

The process of contacting the owner in order to collect the keys and check in is archaic. Also worth noting that the kitchen is not well equipped, there were for example only two glasses.

• Uzzam (2/5): Couldn’t even checkin - I had a booking for one night. I had a fully paid for reservation via Expedia. I arrived at the property at 930am, there was no reception, no staff or even a sign with the name of the property outside the building. I circled the area thrice in an Uber trying to find a location. Finally asked for help from a stranger re the address who was apparently staying at the same building as a guest. When I called the helpline I was informed that the office closes at 6pm and there was no one to check me in. The lady who took my call at the property was rude, loud and not helpful. I couldn’t check into the property. I had to ask Expedia to refund - I was pleased with the case handling of the matter by Expedia. While in the Uber I had to make another reservation through Expedia’s website for the same night. The property is not recommend based on the poor check in experience.
