Allan (7/5): Great room. Friendly staff but wouldn’t recommend - Location and cleanliness Food. Fridays nights fish and chips saw the fish burnt and 80% batter. 20% fish. Saturdays scrambled eggs were not egg but the reconstituted stuff you buy to save money. Saturday nights dinner was bland pizza ( we’d asked for extra jalapeño and got none ) and the Thai curry was too powdery and minimum chicken. Bar prices a little expensive but I guess it’s where it’s at. Locals in the bar very unfriendly towards us guests.
becky (10/5): Exceptional stay - The room was beautiful very clean and fresh we had a meal at lunchtime and it was amazing if you ever order the loaded fries it was massive enough for 2 people the staff are so helpful and friendly we had a room with a great view over the fields . We had breakfast which was also amazing

The staff were helpful and we had a great room. The full English breakfast was very poor. The egg and bacon were overcooked and almost inedible. The continental breakfast was poor, compared with previous visits. With a lack of selection, no pasteries or preserves and no glasses for the fruit juice

The room was huge (but watch the step down) with a lovely big comfy bed. Staff were friendly & food portions were HUGE & also delicious. Would we stay again? Yes we would Low beams!!! 😂😂😂 be careful if you’re over about 5’10 😂😂😂 if that’s the only negative, then you know they’re doing the rest well.

We ate in the restaurant one night and the portions were big and tasty, it was nice to finish the evening in the cosy bar area. Could have had a couple of shelves in the bathroom to place toiletries etc.

No heating on anywhere with bedrooms freezing and lukewarm water in bathroom and shower in the morning. No staff available on leaving after a night's stay and the place in darkness.

We were advised that dinner was between 6 and 8. We went down and were told that chef wasn’t doing any more food as they had a large party in. They said go to the village just down the road and we should get something to eat there. It’s a 2.5 mile drive to the nearest village so we were not happy about that. More driving after a day’s drive wasn’t what we needed.

Rosie (5/5): Very disappointing, reception staff unwelcoming, kitchen closed for dinner - Great location, good room, clean, great shower and towels Sunday 10 – Monday 11 August 2025 This hotel looked so good but was so disappointing! We (my partner and I) booked on the day before for a Sunday night stay. Checking the hotel’s website we knew we could have dinner there, and after a busy weekend we just wanted to chill with a nice meal, enjoy a couple of drinks at the bar and have an early night and a leisurely breakfast. However, on arrival at 6pm we were told, in a very offhand manner by the receptionist that the kitchen closed at 4pm, there was no evening meal that night. She did not apologise or offer any suggestion as to where we might eat instead. There was a sign on the door confirming this, but the website was still showing incorrect information. The receptionist (doubling as barmaid), checked us in sullenly then led us silently to our room - we felt like we were just being an inconvenience to her. No information was volunteered about WiFi, times for breakfast or bar hours. I have never checked into a hotel with so few words! We asked what time the bar shut and were told (and I quote) ‘10pm….or, well I might shut at 9pm if there are no customers!’. Fortunately there were some friendly local customers in the bar who kindly directed us to the nearby village and suggested places we might eat (mostly Indian or Chinese!). Returning to the hotel at 9.30pm the bar was indeed closed, so no nightcap for me! Breakfast the next morning was served by a lovely lad who could have taught the receptionist a thing or two about hospitality! He was friendly, attentive and personable. However the help yourself area was full of flies, enjoying the uncovered bread, marmalade, juice and milk. The full English was mediocre, with dry chewy bacon. The hotel itself is actually fine, but the reception staff had no people skills whatsoever. She represents the hotel in the worst possible way, and the unexpected lack of an evening meal combined with her attitude means we will not be returning.

No management present at all!! £240 for two rooms for one night and overall an abs - The rooms were good, clean and the showers were huge The food and service were appalling. The evening menu was very poor, with hardly any options for vegetarians. The food at breakfast was appalling. No butter!!! For over a day!! We had to borrow butter from other guests who had to go out and buy their own! Hardly any yoghurts. No fresh fruit at all!! We were not even offered tea or coffee!! The person serving was on his second shift!!! And NO MANAGEMENT were present AT ALL!! The missing items had been unavailable for over a day!!!

We left before having part of our meal delivered to us. There was a large wedding party, additional staff should have been on rota to deal with everyone not just the wedding party.
