Washing machine was a really good one. Beds were too firm for scoliosis-kiphosis backs. There was a scent smell after they cleaned the rooms. Hot water was not as hot.

I originally booked primarily for the convenience of having a washer/dryer available, but that pales into insignificance when compared with everything else the hotel offers. The staff were amazing - friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, excellent English, and willing to provide insights into any questions I had. The location is superb, the room was beyond what I was expecting - large, spotlessly clean, with all the facilities you could want. The information available from the hotel for attractions nearby was hugely appreciated. I will definitely stay here again next time I come to Kyoto (and I am definitely coming back!), and would highly recommend the MIMARU Kyoto Nijo Castle to anyone considering visiting this amazing city. • Whitney Exton (9/5): Loved our stay, would recommend for families - Loved our stay! The family apartment is huge and it was so nice closing the door between the living room and bedroom. There's a decent size kitchenette and living room, and a huge shower room and bathroom/laundry area combination. The entryway was the biggest we had in Japan which is helpful when you have four people going in and out, and there's a decent amount of storage for clothing including hangers and drawers, as well as a cupboard under the TV. The in-room laundry worked like a charm and we used it nearly every day. We also used luggage forwarding and it was easy and smooth. The staff were wonderful, always helpful, cheerful and friendly, and provided lots of information for whatever we needed. I was leery about taking the bus but it was so easy and there are several routes that are just outside the hotel, so getting to and from was not a hassle. Bonus was the water station (with options for different temperatures) by the front desk for guests to fill up their water bottles. The mattresses were pretty creaky and lumpy. The vacuuming wasn't overly thorough; removing the carpet would have been better for cleanliness. It's a bit of a walk from any grocery store and the corner market, and about 15 minutes to walk to Nishiki Market, but I'd stay here again.

The hotel is in a good location, with short walks to transport and to Kyoto castle. There are plenty of food options nearby, including supermarkets.

They have a really clean room with complete kitchen appliance, and the most important is a washing machine in the room that could wash & dry. • kyung og (10/5): 가족여행에 강추 - 위치가 식당가랑 조금 멀었어요. 걸어가면12분, 버스타러가는데 5분이라 그냥 걸어 다니긴 했어요. 그외에 호텔자체는 매우 깨끗하고, 화장실도 깨끗하고, 침구도 편안했습니다. 직원들도 엄청 친절하고, 늘 웃고 계셨습니다. 나중에 체크아웃할때는 신년이라고 작은 선물도 주셨어요. 오사카에서는 다른 호텔에서 묵었는데, 같은 체인 오사카 지점들도 많아서 묵을걸 그랬다며 아쉬워했습니다. 왠만한 4성급호텔보다 더 좋았어요. 깨끗하고 깔끔한데 호텔이라기 보다는 엄청깨끗한 투룸 느낌? 주방도 있고, 욕실 한켠에 세탁기가 있어서 너무 잘 썼습니다. 가족여행에 매우 추천하고 싶습니다!! 위치가, 아주 도심지 중심은 아니에요. 그러나 거리가 멀지않아 택시로 이동하면 큰 어려움은 없었습니다.

But for my teen and tweens and all the luggage we couldn’t fit and had to pay for an extra room. Luckily there was one!! The pillows were like bricks but that’s about the only negative. • Sean (9/5): Enjoyable family stay - We were surprised that four of us (parents plus teenagers) managed to co-exist in this room for a week without too many issues. The bathroom arrangement worked well enough even though only one toilet between four and it was very convenient to have a washer dryer. Bath and shower in a combined room but separate (ie not a shower over bath) was nice. Kitchen was manageable with large enough fridge. Supermarket just around the corner and convenience stores all around. Nice location, walkable and easy access to great public transport options. No real complaints.

Kitchen was rather a small bench but we rarely used as we mostly ate outside. Really helpful staff at reception that helped us with directions, catching bus or train, and luggage forwarding services and really polite and friendly. Has a bus stop in front so quite handy and distance to train station was relatively short walk. They need to have few handy rails and more hooks in bathroom to make hanging few things easier. Did not like the sliding wooden doors that blocks the access to wardrobe or fridge. Also, maybe have tea/coffee bags in the room instead of at reception.

• Nika (10/5): What a great hotel! We can’t wait to stay there again on our next visit to Kyoto! - Amazing facilities in the heart of Kyoto. Lovely, friendly and accommodating staff and great size apartments for a family of four. The big plus is the in-unit washer/dryer combo. The staff really go out of their way to make guests comfortable and our kids had a fabulous time there. We were so sad to leave but we will be back! Nothing

• Jennifer (10/5): I love Mimaru hotels! I’ve stayed in 2 so far and they are the best! - I liked that it was very easy to find and just a short bus ride from Kyoto station to the hotel. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
• Norbert-Péter (9/5): - Modern, well equipped apartment. Good location, tho not in the direct vicinity of subway lines (~10 minute walk). We made good use of the free washer/dryer of the room. Walls are thin and we had very loud and disrespectful neighbours..
