Guest Reviews
- Cristi (10/5): - Holistica was wonderful. It is not near to walk downtown or the beach area. If you plan to stay there and not venture out it is a great experience. If you want to spend more time in Tulum, you will need to rent a scooter or car.
- Luis (10/5): - Excellent!
- Travis (10/5): - Incredible place. Just incredible.
- Shannon (8/5): - We had a great 7-day stay at Holistika for our Valentine’s trip. Check-in was smooth, but we recommend accepting help with bags as the rocky pathways are uneven. Our room was beautiful but lacked storage.
The pools were private and relaxing, though seating was limited. The property is open to the public for dining and classes, creating a nice mix of tourists and locals. Yoga classes were more advanced than expected, and the shalas lacked bolsters and had an unpleasant smell. However, the sound bath in the domo was incredible.
Our couples massage was amazing, and the pottery class with Patty was a highlight—our shipped pieces arrived intact except for one break. Tierra had decent vegan options but often ran out of items, while Y-om Y-om’s vegan gelato and snacks were excellent.
A downside was finding fire ants in our packed clothes on the last day. Despite this, we had a memorable stay!
- Jasmine (6/5): Unchecked Hostility Toward Guests - It was a beautiful hotel, but I was not pleased with the staff. One of the wellness workers, Valentina, bumped into my group members multiple times. We are all black women, and I don't want to say it was racism, but I added our race for potential context. I went up to the wellness department and asked that she say "pardon" the next time she sees someone in my group instead of carelessly bumping them. She did not take my complaint seriously, laughed a little, and gave me a flippant apology. I let the manager know what happened, and asked what the procedure would be. She said she would ask Valentina what happened, but I noticed the manager didn't bother to take a report from members in my party who had this experience.
- Neha (10/5): - Holistika was a beautiful experience. I loved the yoga classes, beautiful large rooms, hammocks, ceremonies and activities. The pillows in the rooms were a bit too high which strained my neck. And the restaurant staff should definitely be better trained for more efficient service.
- Natalie (10/5): - Everything about this place is Magical!!
- Mayra (10/5): - I love the vibe of this place!
- Jeff (10/5): - I always stay here, and it never disappoints. Although construction in La Valeta is constant, it seems much quieter on the premises. It is always well-kept and has excellent activities; I can't recommend it enough. The only minor negative is the $4 charge per coffee pod in the room. At $150 a night, it is a little egregious, but you can walk to the restaurant and get it cheaper.
- Jasmin (10/5): - What a magical experience! Felt restored and rested almost right away. The room and pool area were gorgeous. Treated myself to a cranial sacral message that was incredible. Everything was great with many special touches
- Roberto (10/5): - Very cool property, you feel like you are in the jungle with daily health activities. Yoga classes, sound healing/meditation, and great healthy food. The rooms are great, comfortable beds and a hammock going across the room.
- Maya (10/5): - Beautiful sanctuary..we loved our stay
- Itai (10/5): - Truly incredible property unlike anything else I've ever stayed. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Tulum. Who wants to do metaphysical healing, yoga, meditations, sound baths and more.
- Georgina (10/5): Luxury on a budget - This hotel/hostel was fantastic… I stayed in the Beehive and was very happy with the accommodations, yoga class, restaurant, pools, art walk, natural surroundings and overall comfort. I rented a bike and rode to beach which allowed me to bypass traffic. I wish I had done more research on transportation from airport… The bus would have worked out fine
- Roy (10/5): Sweet spot - Love this place! Restaurant excellent too.
- Yevgeniy (10/5): - Great hotel! They have many great yoga classes. So its not only great stay, also good yoga exercises!
- Ginger (10/5): - Always a serene and meaningful stay at Holistika
- Steven (10/5): - great property, art walk, yoga halls, 2 pools, restaurant, etc.
- Heather (10/5): Exceeds Expectations for an Unforgettable Trip! - I'm still pinching myself after returning from the most incredible birthday celebration with my best friend at Hotel Holistika in Tulum, Mexico. This stunning property exceeded our lofty expectations in every way, making our 40th birthday milestone an unforgettable experience.
The gastronomic journey at Hotel Holistika was nothing short of phenomenal. The chef's creations were not only visually stunning but bursting with flavor and creativity.
Exceptional Service:
The service at Hotel Holistika was truly exceptional and the property itself was so welcoming and serene. We also loved being able to feel like we were on a yoga retreat, without the strict schedule. Being able to choose classes each day at our own leisure was perfect. The sound healing class was a true highlight!
I highly recommend this property and can't wait to return!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing
- Richard (10/5): - Such a peaceful stay and amazing workshops. Highly recommended to try as many as possible
- Maria (10/5): - Amazing
- Kattarina (10/5): - Beautiful, welcoming space with classes and activities to enjoy. I will definitely come back to stay again!
- Lesly (10/5): - The minute you walk in you see how serene and beautiful the place is! You really do feel like you're out on the jungle somewhere. Front desk was so friendly and attentive. They always helped me get a taxi. They have plenty to do on site so you could spend all your time there. Their on site vegan/veg restaurant Tierra is delicious but SLOW. Waited a while to get a menu then I had to ask 4 times to get my check and box. They still forgot my box so I had to get up and ask AGAIN. The discouraged me from going again. They also have a boutique, a vegan snack shop, a cute smoothie bar with swings. I also took a Yoga class inside their dome and the place itself was gorgeous!! The yoga class was also healing and made cry tears of joy. I stayed in their beehive doors and it was great! Clean and quiet. Plenty of showers and toilets, I never had to wait. They give you 2 lockers and have a gallon of filtered water to fill up your water bottles. I was also able to walk about 15 mins to a nearby collectivo stop that took me to El Centro. 5 mins walking there's a few eateries and an Oxxo convenience store
- Prashanth (10/5): - It's a gorgeous place with excellent staff and great food. The front desk was kind, courteous, and helpful - shout out to Aida, Lena, and Sofia! Isabel's yoga class was outstanding. I'll come back.
Everyone at the restaurant was terrific as well. The restaurant menu seemed innovative but needed to be more wholesome and diverse. I got stomach cramps after eating one night, but I am unsure if that was because of the cheese or the dessert. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the food; it was healthier and tastier. I wish they had some authentic Mexican food options.
- Raquel (10/5): - This place is absolutely magical and perfectly zen. All the staff are so helpful and excellent with communication. I will definitely come back here.
- catherine (10/5): - So relaxing, great healthy food, beautiful big rooms and nice pool!
- halima (10/5): - Amazing stay! Will be back again.
- Fidel (2/5): - Mosquitos all over . Pools , restaurants , their food will give you diarrea , and their FREE Filtered water At their vegan restaurante will make you sick for 3 days . It has happened to me twice in this place . So avoid it
- Natalia (10/5): - We love the hotel… we will be back for sure
- Priya (4/5): Yikes. - Got food poisoning from their restaurant, as I ate nowhere else in the 3 days I was there.
Twice I was sent to the wrong shala for yoga and ended up missing the first 15 minutes of both classes.
They should stop asking people to pay cash and make us feel guilty about using our card. You’re a business, act like one and accept card payments without belittling the guest.
Staff has an attitude problem. I’ve read it before in reviews and now I understand completely. Horrible customer service.
A server gave me someone’s left over salsa. I told her to give me a new one and she just topped it off in the same old dirty ramiken. I am a POC and there were very few there and I felt disrespected often like a second class citizen compared to the white people.
A white lady budded in line and they saw and still continued to help her and make me wait. Then offers me the most silly apology.
So disappointing for an”spiritual” place.
Two classes I took were awful, and one instructor tried to get $10000 USD from me for private sessions and kept trying to get the money from me immediately that day! Such a scam!! He must’ve thought I was an idiot and was playing on the fact that I had an ill father.
These people should be embarrassed. Nothing spiritual here. All just pomp and circumstance.
- Cindy (10/5): - An wonderful jungle retreat center with amazing yoga classes, sound healing and ceremonies. A special place to connect, find peace and healing… and healthy food. Thank you … a place to return to.
- Eden (10/5): Perfect Yogi Getaway - I had a really nice stay at Holistika. The staff and teachers are great, food at the restaurant is good, and the property is beautiful. The staff went above and beyond to help me while I was without a phone, allowing me to make reservations on their front desk computer as needed, print docs, etc. It's nice that people from other hotels and airbnbs come to take classes or eat at the restaurant so there are always people around to talk with if you're looking for that. I'll definitely be back.
- charlie (6/5): - This was part 2 of a holiday to Mexico. What a comparison.
The hotel itself was an oasis. But the service I received didn’t match this.
When using the restaurant it felt more like they were doing me a favour and I should feel appreciated for them deciding to serve me.
We also had the unfortunate event of having our bike stolen. ( I knew there would be a charge)
What I wasn’t expecting was the reception to be so Unhelpful.
The reception
- Mark (10/5): - Nice clean place. People very friendly
- Eledir (10/5): Excell my expectations, eco-friendly/yoga/health - Everything was great ! I will definitely return ! Only tho BH to improve is to have a map with short way to the beach by bike
- Somya (6/5): - Property was beautiful. Private rooms were large and simple but the beds were very stiff and I had to chase down basic amenities from the staff (ex. no towels in my room). I had no wifi/cell phone signal in my original room. The staff were able to move me, but to a room with the previous guests food in the mini-fridge and items in the garbage. When I checked out, I was asked to pay for my towels as they had very small smudges of makeup on them — this is the first time I’ve ever heard of anything like this. I would understand if they were stained or heavily soiled, but this would have came out easily in the wash? I hardly even use makeup.
Overall I would come back for yoga and for the restaurant which was wonderful, but I would not stay again.
- Alesha (2/5): - WORST! They did not provide the room category paid for or the beds paid for
- Brendon (10/5): Always a wonderful time at Holistika - This was my second time staying at Holistika in the dorm and I had a great experience. The staff was friendly at the reception, the room was clean, had a large locker and towels included. The pool and grounds were nice and I felt safe. They had great communication throughout my stay through WhatsApp. There is a restaurant and yoga classes on site. The reception was always amazing and very helpful. My only complaint was that there was one young lady (it seemed like she may have been a manager) at the wellness desk that was rude to myself and others.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place was amazing. A little paradise in the middle of the jungle. Rooms are very big and comfortable. There 2 pools and lots of things to do. Including temezcal, sound healing, yoga etc. Staff is super friendly and always willing to help. There is laundry service available and they will always be happy to call you a cab. There is a WhatsApp number you can always reach them at and ask any questions you might have. Maria the massage therapist is amazing. Will definitely be back. Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is amazing! Tucked inside the forest, Holistika offers a quiet retreat with yoga classes, wellness workshops, and other amazing amenities. My husband and I traveled here for my birthday and spent almost every day at the resort. It's located close enough that you don't have to spend too much on taxis to travel to other places, but far enough away that you're not surrounded by a ton of crowds. Everything was super clean and the front desk assistants, Miriam and Jesus, were so friendly and helpful during our stay. I honestly think this is one of the best places that you can stay in Tulum. The restaurant is also great and offers vegan-friendly meals. You have everything that you need at this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is nice. It was clean and the rooms were spacious. The hotel is really great for yoga/relaxation. The check in process needs some improvement though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The pool was incredible
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Safe,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Where do I start? Holistika is an oasis in paradise. Healing energy and tranquility will come to you if you stay here. Positioned on the outside of Tulum, in the jungle, I felt rejuvenated from the seclusion and botanical vibrancy. The workshops and classes they host were amazing - the facilities and teachers are nothing I've seen in the US. I cannot wait to come back <3
- Andi (6/5): Mixed reviews - I have a mixed review for Holistika.
Pros: the yoga, sound healing, and mindfulness classes are amazing. The teachers are world-class, and the studio spaces are beautiful.
I stayed in the beehive, and it was easy to make friends with the other women bc they were cool, interesting, and friendly.
Cons: the service here, both from the hotel staff and on-site restaurant, is poor. It’s clear that none of the employees have been trained in hospitality. They were unable to answer basic questions like “can I extend my stay?” When I asked for directions, they’d gesture vaguely and not give a real answer. When I asked if they could tell the gardener to not turn on his leaf blower outside my window at 7am, they smiled and nodded, but didn’t actually fix the problem.
We used to have curtains in the beehive to provide privacy for each bed, but then one day they took them all down. When I asked when we could get them back, the staff looked baffled. After 2 days of no curtains we started rigging sheets and towels, which finally gave us some privacy but made the room resemble a refugee camp.
All in all, the staff needs much better training to provide clearer communication and friendlier service.
- Gregory (10/5): one night at Holistika - the free class with the stay, the art walk (pic), the pool (pic), the bookshop, the restaurant, all awesome. rooms are minimalistically cool and comfy. wish we could have stayed longer.
- Heather (4/5): - The place was super disappointing! There is nothing holistic about it. Only an attitude. Some the staff was ok but nothing over the top. Don’t recommend.
- Maria (10/5): - Everything was amazing! The rooms were super beautiful, the bed was comfy, the food at the restaurant was incredibly delicious, the pools were super pretty, hammocks were comfortable. I loved the classes that were offered. The sweat lodge was powerful. The little shop was super cute and Maria was so friendly and amazing to talk to. Loved every moment of staying there and I cannot wait to go back!
- Luca (8/5): Relax in Tulum - Still one of the best places to stay, if you don't come to Tulum to party. It is quiet, very relaxing in the middle of the jungle, private, the yoga driven crowd from all over the world is interesting to mingle with, the pools are perfect for long swims, the restaurant has consolidated itself, the vegetarian food is healthy, yummy and not expensive and the service is one of the best in Tulum. Internet connection has been improving over time but still the main weakness.
- Joha (8/5): - Amazing resort. It’s situated in the middle of the jungle. The amenities are impecable and the 2 pools the best I have ever seen. The king room we got was spacious, the bed extremely comfortable and there was this fresh feeling to it. The vegetarian restaurant inside the hotel also serves amazing food. Now, personally, the reason why I probably wouldn’t stay again, even though I fell in love with the facilities, it’s the New Age theme the resort has. It’s not subtle and unless you share the same beliefs, it might make you feel uncomfortable. The Art Walk murals have very esoteric meaning and the place even has a Temezcal (sweat house). Overall, fantastic nature resort except for the spiritual theme that inundates it, unless you are into it!
- Nikki (10/5): - This hotel was super cute ! Would recommend and stay again , loved the pool side hammocks outside my room !
- Stephanie (10/5): Magical - Amazing space, magical and moving
- Anita (10/5): - One of the most divine places I have ever stayed at. It healed my soul and relaxed my whole being. What a stunning boutique hotel. A must visit.
- Katherine (10/5): Great value for money - Loved Holistika, was very impressed because for the price I did not expect it to be so nice.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Assaulted - Staff did not care - This was the worst experience I have had in a hostel.
I had another guest keep exposing himself to me in the dorm, In order to ensure that I did not have to stay here, I tried cancelling my booking or bringing it up to staff.
They did not care and no changes were made, I booked at a hotel in the city and left. The restaurant staff are amazing though.
- Luca (8/5): Immersed in Nature - Very relaxing atmosphere, immersed in nature at 5 minutes drive from Tulum Pueblo. Paradise for yoga and meditation lovers is also a good base for business trips. If you like peace and silence is a great place. Slow internet like every where in Tulum and slow service but it fits to the mood of the place. If you are not a nature lover and bugs really bothers you, is not your place.
- pcgiac (10/5): - Love love love!! I loved my stay at Holistika. The staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating. The room we booked was impeccable, especially for somewhere in the middle of the jungle. We had the most relaxing view of and access to the pool, which was well maintained and fancy-looking. Everything was relatively affordable, but all looked very fancy and classy. I loved the holistic "wellness" theme of the hotel, which includes a complimentary yoga class (incredible) and spa treatments (have to pay for it but my massage was absolutely perfect). There's also a delicious vegetarian/vegan restaurant on hotel grounds (best avocado toast and smoothie bowl I've ever had). And a cute little shop with unique locally made products! And beautiful stray cats that hang around! Honestly I've nothing to complain about. I highly recommend this accomodation and would stay again in a heartbeat.
- Christopher (10/5): Thank you! - This place is simply special. You have to see it to believe it...a gem...a diamond in the rough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazinggggg stay at Holistika! From food , to ambiance. I’ll be returning forever.
I stayed in the beehive which is the option of 12 beds to a room. As a solo traveler this was ideal. The rooms were clean , beds made and sheets changed every day. AC, 2 huge lockers to store things in free of cost. Clean showers and stalls. The vegetarian restaurant on site has the best food I have ever had. This by far was one of the best places I have went to get grounded. Thank you holistika
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a wonderful stay! My only major complaint was that the bike rentals cost a bit more than for the area. Would have appreciated an hourly rental if need or week-long rate or some type of arrangement.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect place for yoga or to just get away and relax. They have a wide variety of activities to choose from. Great staff! Great food! Beautiful harmonies setting.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property was absolutely amazing. So relaxing and it was everything. It would have been nice to have a better variety of drinks at the only restaurant, as nothing else is close enough. Very happy with the staff and would go back again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. A lot of activities to do on site such as yoga and meditation. Also two beautiful pools and friendly cats adorn the property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - New, clean, great restaurant, super friendly staff, and the design is really cool. If this was on the beach it would costs hundreds. Glad it’s not.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is unbelievably unique, beautiful pools, excellent food, & the art walk is amazing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our group of 7 guests arrived and were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. We stayed in the "Beehive" dorm accomodations, which were ideal for us: clean and stylish with areas to socialize close-by. The staff went above and beyond to insure a fun, relaxing and enjoyable stay. Mitch, Karin, Kevin and Jeff and the rest of the staff were delightful, and helped to make our stay in Tulum a vacation of a lifetime.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peaceful soul nourishing retreat in the jungle. - This place is next level. The buildings are amazing eco-buildings. Every single thing here is beautiful and feels intentional and peaceful.
I just keep extending my stay here. It is on the very outside of town so you feel like you are fully in peaceful jungle. Frogs and birds singing, plants, lovely paths, a pool that is shaded and one that is in the sun. I Seriously never want to leave this place. I was stressed when I arrived but that dropped away the moment I walked through this property. I did not expect to want to take so many yoga and meditation classes because yoga isn't really my thing....but now it is. Can't say enough about how much I love this place. They don't show you around so do find both pools, the kitchen if you need it, the art walk, and the treehouse to get the full experience. I haven't done the Temescal ceremony yet but I hear really good things about it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was an amazing experience. The staff was wonderful. The property is beautiful. Highly recommend
- Mirja (10/5): A place to re-charge in nature - Stayed one night in a suite overlooking one of the pools (the one with hammocks) and loved it. Quiet. Jungle, pool and moon/sky view. Huge balcony (3rd floor) with a great sunbed. Huge room and huge comfortable bed (very firm mattress) Amazing premises/garden, full of art and signs of affirmations and motivational quotes. Great staff and yoga/meditation classes/workships. A place to reconnect with yourself, recharge and relax in beautiful and inspiring aurroundings. Bring mosquito repellent! Will come back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved it. - Lovely setting, modern hotel, two large pools, friendly staff, loved the yoga and meditation classes. Amazing smoothies, vegetarian restaurant. It is a 5 min cab drive to the center. It took me about 35 minutes to walk to the beginning of the center. Tulum is more of a town so doable.
- Neil (8/5): Lovely relaxing stay - Fab hotel, a bit out of town but easy enough to get everywhere on a bike or in a taxi. Rooms are great, pool is stunning and the grounds are really nice. Food is good and at a reasonable price. Yoga and other activities seems a bit unorganised but all in all a lovely place to stay.
- es (10/5): - This property is exceptional! Beautiful property. Highly recommend. The staff at reception were all super friendly and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property itself is nice but far from beach.
I personally did not have a good experience because I was placed in a dorm style room without understanding this until too late and no chance to cancel. Really disappointed.
They also said they wld send an airport shuttle, I have in writing and over the phone that it was 2000 pesos but arriving at airport and suddenly its 2500 pesos plus driver insists on 500 peso tip.
- sarah (2/5): Holistika....the Venus fly trap! - Holistika can lure you in like a Venus fly trap with its beautiful blend of art and architecture which embraces nature BUT.....if its a comfortable bed (the beds are really hard there), enjoying a cup of coffee in your room and a lie in in the mornings that is important to you when you are on holiday then probably this isn't for you. This is not a guest centric hotel, in fact you feel as if you have to fit in with loud music that comes from the yoga studio at 6:45am and petrol powered maintenance tools at 6:30am, we stayed there for 3 days and this was the daily routine at Holistika. Don't even think about complaining as you are merely only paying visitors passing through. We came away exhausted and feeling like we needed a holiday!
- Frank (10/5): 100% Recommandation - Amazing location. close to Tulum in the dschungle. I really fall in love to this place. Very lovely and exceptional heartfily staff, who had always a smile at their face. The service Holistika is offering is one of the best I ever experienced during my travels around the world. Holistika is offering daily Yoga classes with great and blessed yoga teachers.
- Aaron (10/5): Excellent place to get grounded - Hotel Holistika is a place for reconnecting and getting grounded. It is not a recreational site, a party site, or a place to entertain kids. For those looking to truly get reconnected, this place definitely will contribute and provide opportunity to find yourself. Beyond the friendly staff, the grounds are stunning, with lush tropics, plaster walkways and walls, and beautiful pools. The room we stayed in was on the upper floor, with a wonderful view of the pool. Huge room, with high ceilings. The bed was super comfortable. Only essential accommodations (no TV, no ice machine, but yes WiFi and bug spray and in-wall aircon). The outdoor restaurant is vegan and astoundingly good! Yoga rooms and acoustic chamber are beautiful. The site is still under construction, only open a few months (at the time we were there), but we were in love with it! Also, visit the art walk. Visitors come in for yoga sessions and to eat. The location is outside of main street Tulum, so a rental car helps a lot, and the Chedraui supermarket is about 15 minutes away by car. There was a taxi strike one of the nights, so we gave a visitor a ride back to her hotel. Overall, this place provided such a grounding experience and opportunity to truly recharge. My partner and I would come here many times again. She and I both had such a wonderful stay here amidst touring the beaches of Tulum. Stay at least two nights, and eat everything at the restaurant. =)
- Isabella (8/5): - Very unique property with incredibly gorgeous grounds, elegant architecture, and a lush jungle setting (bring your bug spray!!). Lots of affirmations and positive messages all over the property. Be sure to visit both swimming pools and check out the art walk. They offer yoga classes, weekly sound healing, and temazcal occasionally, and other events. The restaurant serves fantastic juices, smoothies and bowls, and healthy food - note that it’s only open 8am to 5pm.
Downsides are it is well outside the town so you’ll need a car or other means of transportation - I was relying on taxi and one evening they went on strike, which was a bit of a problem. Also it’s a ghost town in the evening - nowhere to hang out or socialize, no drinks or food available, and staff are not reliably around. I found communications to be very sporadic and if you’re traveling alone, it can be a bit unnerving not to know whether you can rely on staff to be available.
Overall the property itself has a wonderful healing energy and is uniquely beautiful. It could be improved by being more welcoming to guests, who may be looking for more of a community setting and connection. Staff were a bit aloof and as a solo traveler I felt like an unwelcome outsider.
