They have an very e - The owners were very, very wonderful and the restaurant food was delicious and I could’ve stayed there longer, but I had to continue on my journey otherwise I would’ve gladly stayed for a lot more time. Interesting loyal and wonderful guest also . Too many stairs for me as l am an elderly solo traveler . Certainly moved in to their wonderful place in that condition . Just had to move closer to the Airport l would too soon be departing from .

We only stayed 1 night but it was great, the staff are amazing the food was fantastic and priced right, cold drinks, beautiful views and had a really lovely feel to it, tge resturant also play all the Aussie sports, AFL, NRL etc. We met the owner who were really lovely people. We will be going back and staying longer next time as we ride around the island seeing and experiencing different things. The furniture is a little dark in some of the rooms but nothing to complain about.

We also had a large deck and could see the surf in the ocean at a distance. The food was very good and so was the staff. One of our best stays! (We added two days to our stay). We walked to the ocean, to Secret Beach and along the ocean (after walking down a street in town.) NOthing

Ich habe ein Upgrade ins Familienzimmer mit Meerblick erhalten, was ich sehr geschätzt habe. Das Zimmer war sauber, jedoch ist das Hotel&die Zimmer insgesamt etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Das Essen im Restaurant ist lecker. Der Pool war sauber und einladend zum Schwimmen, allerdings waren die Liegestuhlüberzüge fleckig. Ein Teil des Hauses wird aktuell umgebaut, davon hat man zum Glück nichts gehört. Leider gab es im Zimmer, vor allem im Bad, viele Ameisen. Auch das Sofa auf dem Balkon war voller Ameisen und hatte einige Flecken. Die Bettanzüge wirkten ebenfalls schon älter.

Location was great - 2 min walk from excellent yoga at "Nick Yoga", and short walk to massage spa Bella Spa. Secret Bay Spa was also great, 10 min walk. The pool was on the small side but still good to cool off.

• Jackie (9/5): Glad to find Istana - we had a wonderful stay. - Perfect location with a lovely view down to the sea. The villa was spacious, with a balcony and day bed. Comfortable large bed in the villa. Very clean. Good clean pool. The food at the restaurant was delicious, just be prepared to wait a while for your order as everything is prepared from scratch. Staff were lovely and helpful. The only thing missing was a cupboard to put our clothes in. There was a bamboo rack to hang things, but the rest of our luggage we had to put on the floor. The hotel also hosts football/sports tv in the restaurant, but for those who don’t want to watch, you can order dinner to your room and enjoy the view from the balcony.
• Markus (10/5): Cannot wait to go back. Hope the managemnt does not change. (They had a "for sale" sign up.) - Incredibly nice home stay. Never seen a place with so much attention paid to any and all details. Very cosy atmosphere. We all felt at home immedeately and did not want to leave. (Wished we had booked longer). We liked that it is not that touristic yet (because of its dark volcano beach) and locals are still happy to see and talk to a white face. Hence, it's a trade off. White sand (e.g. Kuta) => many, many tourists, black sand (like Balian) => much fewer tourists. Not a dozen visitors on a mile long stretch of beach. It's a surfer beach and my kids told me afterwards that they had seen a "no swimming" sign. I didn't know and we went swimming anyway. The kids hat fun taking surfing lessons. Vulcano sand beach with pebbles, strong surf that makes it sometimes difficult to get out of the water.

• Judith (10/5): Absolutely lovely! ❤️ - We had a fantastic time at Istana Balian. Before we arrived we had WhatsApp contact so everything was arranged when we arrived. They arranged even a taxi driver who also took us to the most beautiful spots. So when you go to Istana ask for Nova he is definitely the best! We stayed in the villa which had two bedrooms and a beautifull vieuw The restaurant is perfect the meals are fantastic and the staff is lovely If we go back to Bali. We definitely stay at Istana again

Lots of room, comfy beds, heaps of space, we had a tv upstairs and downstairs so the kids could watch what they wanted and felt like they had their very own space, and I could watch what I wanted and have some space to breathe as well. They organised our driver, moped hire and just took care of us so well it was a great experience and we look forward to coming back one day.

We really enjoyed the breakfasts - they were amazing. We asked for 1hr and a half late checkout and this was accepted - big thanks for it! During a heavy rain - we noticed some drops in the roof - the host quickly intervened and addressed the issue. The facility is located in a quiet and authentic area. Grab is not available in the area. Consider downloading the Gojek app or using a local taxi, though the latter may cost slightly more than app-based rides. Adding shampoo in the bathrooms would be a nice touch, as would additional shelves for clothing to improve storage convenience.

Had all the immenities - pool area was my go to place every morning. If you want to relax and enjoy some serenity - this private oasis is the place for you. Access to Netflix, prime channels etc were an added bonus for our teen. Highly recommend this accommodation.

• Ricky (9/5): Quiet, brand new, very comfortable and a definite winner for any stay in Balian. - This property is owned and operated by Hare who is an exceptional young Indonesian completely focused on customer service and comfort. The property is brand new, minimalist in design (think polished concrete) and staffed by a team who are enthusiastic. Excellent bed, linen, air-conditioning and wifi make any stay here a pleasure. The pool is currently being built and once completed should be a great addition to the property. The property features a gym on the rooftop (inside + outside area), which is reasonably well stocked with free weights, a universal weight machine and cardio machines. Without doubt, one of the most pictureesque gyms I have ever worked out at....and empty every time I used it. The property is a short 5 minute walk to the main Balian beach. Quiet, brand new, very comfortable and a definite winner for me! Hare is in the process of putting in place a couple of finishing touches. A fridge and some in room tea and coffee making facilities would be very welcome although in the interim, all of this is available at the shared kitchen facilities located at reception.

Enjoyed everything we ordered and the included breakfast wonderful! Whilst the restaurant is open, kitchen noise can be heard from the garden room underneath. And road noise from the 2 bedroom villa.
