Guest Reviews
- Alison (10/5): Relaxing and friendly. - Lovely interior design. Stephanie was extremely helpful with providing a map and recommendations. Breakfast v good! Nothing - all worked out really well.
- Sarina (10/5): Excellent B&B - Very nice rooms, attention to detail. Great central location. Highly recommended! I would book there again!
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location for us.
Comfortable and clean.
Lovely host and good breakfast. Nothing. All was good and as we expected it to be.
- Lauren (8/5): Very good -
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clare (9/5): Superb -
- Bonner (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful home Car parking limited
- Grace (10/5): - We loved the hotel. Excellent location - within walking distance of the downtown Calais and the beach, restaurants, attractions and sites to see - or take the tram, which is just down the road.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Antonio (9/5): Charming Stop Near Calais Port - Clean, cosy, and full of charm. Perfect for a one-night stay. Thoughtful decor in every detail. Simple but fresh breakfast – just what you need to start the day. Definitely, we will be back! Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - A very nice B&B and Stephanie’s breakfast was great! We enjoyed the stay as family with 3 kids!
- Julie (10/5): A wonderful stay in Calais - Our host was very welcoming and amenable, and she offered us a great place to store our bicycles. The B&B is within walking distance to many amenities, and it is in a beautiful old house with some stunning features. We had a lovely room on the top floor which was very clean, and comfortable. We had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant 15 minutes walk away - La Route des épices. Breakfast was superb, plentiful, with plenty of choice. We highly recommend this B&B to everyone, but especially if you are travelling by bicycle 🚴♀️🚴♂️ and also by motorcycle, as there was also a German motorcycle stored inside for a guest.
- Hayal (8/5): - The hotel was very nicely renovated and has got big, clean family room and historic building. The hotel was very central of Calais Ville. Short walk to train station only 15 minutes. Just breakfast was very basic French breakfast, not so much choose, no egg or bacon etc.
- Richard (10/5): We hope to return? - Good friendly welcome, to a beautiful home. Nothing
- Annika (10/5): - Eine sehr liebevoll eingerichtet Zimmer.
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Fabien (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (10/5): A lovely B&B in a very central location. Stefanie was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The rooms were lov - Lovely, well equipped and clean rooms!
- Olivier (8/5): Very good -
- On Lit (8/5): - Clean and spacious room and bathroom, nice continental breakfast with a good variety of choices to choose from, friendly and responsive staff. The only nuisance was that I wasn't informed I had to pay cash, which I didn't mind that at all. Just that had I known in advance, I'd have made sure that I brought enough cash and wouldn't have to go to an ATM nearby.
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Cynthia (8/5): Quite pleasant but in a crowded neighborhood - Interesting house and comfortable room Stairs were very steep
- James (5/5): Fair but not good enough - Fair accommodation but quite old . Breakfast was good but with no choice or buffet, only served by the staff in very limited choices
The lady hosting was nice. Studio room with bed and bathroom at the same main room, quite weird especially the shower in front of the bedroom window in front of other neighbours, not really private.
The stairs are very narrow and could be quite dangerous. As above the breakfast has very limited choices served by the hosting lady.
So the stay was ok for one night but no more and surely not worth the £100 paid.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (8/5): Parking was a challenge - Location The stairs. Also I was concerned about fire escape abilities
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - It was clean and close to where we needed to be the next day.
- Rosina (8/5): Good - Over all good. No problems.
- Daliah (8/5): Very good -
- Janice (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was delicious. Very clean accommodations. Location was good for walking downtown and taking public transit. We would have preferred to pay with a credit card.
- Martin (8/5): A great start to our Via Francigena. - Quiet location. Pleasant welcome from host and helpful in choice of restaurants nearby. Clearly an historic town house with beautiful decor and art.
- Anat (10/5): - A quiet home, with a great taste for decor. The exceptionally helpful Stephanie, who runs the place. Large, beautiful bathroom with a bath tub, very tasty breakfast. Walking distance to central area .
- Karoline (10/5): Exactly what we needed! - Supercomfy bed, lovely room, perfect! Staircase to the rooms was very steep, and we did not realise how good the breakfast really was.
- Martin (7/5): Good - Spaceous rooms There was no shower in the room, just a bath tub, furniture was old and rudimentory
- Daniel (8/5): Good value for money, highly recommended overall. - B&B Le Cercle De Malines represents excellent value for money. We were very impressed with the owner who was friendly and professional and also very patient with those of us in the group who did not speak French. The owner also served breakfast and was again very friendly. The room we were given was clean, well presented and comfortable. The taps in the bathroom weren't properly attached to the spindles and this meant the only way to use the taps in the sink was to take them off. The toilet cistern filled very slowly, which for a family of four isn't good. Breakfast choices were rather limited, but what was on offer was of a good standard.
- Christine (9/5): Superb - The host was very helpful (particularly with regard to the parking). The house was really full of character, beautifully maintained and the garden was charming . Our room was just what was needed for an overnight stay, clean, convenient for the ferry and in easy walking distance to the town. Breakfast was lovely. Nothing
- John (9/5): Beautiful property, welcoming host & great facilities. - The property was beautiful with a mixture of original features & modern decor. Parking was a little difficult.
- Abbie (9/5): Lovely comfortable accommodation with friendly helpful hosts - Well maintained with lots of original features. Rooms very comfortable. Nothing
- Sven (9/5): Beautiful building with high ceilings - Beautiful building with high ceilings and stylish decoration. Convenient location in Calais.
- David (1/5): Madame was very helpful - Very clean, and quiet. Breakfast was on one long table rather than individual tables but ultimately it worked well and I had a very enjoyable chat about the ongoing TdF with a cycling fiend. All good!
- Michael (9/5): Tasteful well appointed BnB - Very good BnB with extraordinary spacious interior decorated in tasteful art deco style throughout. Facilities good and lovely bath on pedestal feet. 3rd floor
- Paulette (10/5): - I could not be happier with my stay simply perfect.
Exquisitely clean and comfortable, Ambiance was spot on.
Hosts made us feel more than welcome, a great experience
- Katie (10/5): Excellent value for money. Superb breakfast and very accommodating host. - Old traditional French feel. Very close to the Train Shuttle. Nothing
- Moon (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Charming house and hostess. Good breakfast. Comfortable room and within walking distance of some good small restaurants for dinner.
- Chris (9/5): Incredibly charming B&B . very well appointed and beautifully hosted with super breakfast! - Breakfast was superb , eating with all the guests at a big table just off the kitchen.
The pastries were outstanding and my 11 yr old ate 4 of the largest croissants Ive ever seen!
The room was spotless and beautifully appointed. The building has loads of classic french charm and features.
Stephanie was incredibly helpful and speaks excellent English. She managed top help us get a cab when the navette from the port has stopped running!
- Rolo (6/5): Pleasant but not great value for money - The rooms were of a good size and managed by a lovely landlady. Decent city location and a dedicated internal safe space for cycle storage. May benefit from some modernisation. Good on-street car parking (For a price though). Breakfast was a bit of a let down. Maybe there were some cultural expectations we didnt understand, but the only items on the breakfast table was croissants and some coffee/juices. The rooms were very dimly lit. Overall, a decent place to crash for a night or so.
- Theo (8/5): Very good -
- Tami (7/5): Overall, it was a nice place to stay for one night, but with the high cost, shower issues and not enough food at breakfa - It was a lovely older bldg with ornate finishes. The host was very pleasant. The breakfast was only bread, cheese and some fruit (not even cut up). I am not sure why we had to tell a time for breakfast and stress out about being down at a certain time when it was all cold food that required no prep. We had to go somewhere else to eat after, so definitely not enough food and not good value for the money. Also, the shower was very tight to enter, had no shelves to put your items inside, and the water pressure was non existent.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Rameet (9/5): Superb - Friendly and helpful proprietor, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast.
- Chris (9/5): Nice overnight stopover - Excellent breakfast, lots of home goodies and lovely fresh bread Room was a bit small and no were to hang clothes on a hanger.
- Mark (10/5): Perfect, will stay there again - Very very quaint, so naturally French. Great location for a stopover before or after the tunnel. Nothing
- Roland (10/5): - A very nice small traditional family hotel
- Lynnette (10/5): A beautifully renovated French residence, centrally located with a charming host. - Historic, spacious, charming and central. Fully renovated with superb bathroom and extra large bed. We loved the delicious French breakfast in the owner’s beautiful dining room which looked out onto a private garden . The owner was charming and very welcoming. Nothing. It was perfect.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Paola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sally (10/5): Super clean, spacious place to stay in Calais - Situated in a quiet part of town, with the town centre easily accessible. Beautifully decorated room, very clean. Breakfast was delicious and the host was helpful.
- Terry (10/5): Lovely place to stay in Calais - Our host was very welcoming, friendly & helpful & her home is very stylish. The room was very comfortable & clean & breakfast was excellent. Street parking was much appreciated.
- Kara (10/5): - We loved our brief stay at Le Cercle.
- Terry (10/5): Great stay in Calais - Lovely stylish home. Very comfortable room & bed. Good location for seeing Calais. Our host was very welcoming & helpful and breakfast was excellent. The street parking was an unexpected bonus! Thank you!
- Jeremy (7/5): Good - beautiful building En-suite had a large Jacuzzi type bath and a separate sauna. This is all great but not having a shower was a game changer for us.
- Richard (10/5): Stéphanie was very welcoming and helpful and provided a wonderful breakfast in a beautiful environment. - The B&B was exquisitely presented, the room was very comfortable and the location was ideal, as it was quiet and not far to the main attractions in Calais. Nothing.
- Jeremy (9/5): Superb -
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Gregory (8/5): A very good stay, if a little expensive for what you get in the room. - With the friendliness, service, cleanliness and breakfast everything was fine. For what you get in the room, and where, a little expensive.
- Emilija (9/5): Superb - Lovely host, delicious breakfast. The room was small but clean and nice, nice bathroom with "old-school" vibe. It was easy to park the car in front of the building.
- Rudi (8/5): Very good - Two flights of stairs was difficult to climb.
Shower in Bath tub.
- Richard (9/5): Nice stop off on the way home - Very clean and in a good position Nothing to complain about
- John (9/5): Wonderful interior to an historic building. -
- Elizabeth (9/5): A hidden gem in Calais. - A hidden gem in Calais.
Staying there showed us a part of Calais that we've never seen before.
A beautiful house, lovely host, excellent value for money.
I would definitely return! Not keen on the 'open shower' .....wet feet on return to loo despite the bath mat.
Would have enjoyed either an egg or ham with the breakfast, not keeen on a sweet breakfast.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Large room, bath and good breakfast Payment in cash on arrival
- Stephen (10/5): - Booked Le Cercle for one night after Eurotunnel while on a journey from Isle of Man to Nancy. Very helpful while our arrival time was uncertain and with info on restaurants in Calais. Lovely comfortable, quiet night in Calais, easy to find and set up for the day with a continental breakfast. We didn’t have the time to use the sauna or whirlpool bath - an excuse to come back to Le Cercle another time.
- Rose (8/5): Very good -
- Kathrin (7/5): Good - Big room and bed was very comfortable, breakfast was good too Tea/coffee/kettle in room would have been good. Flushes noisy and quite pricey
- Jim (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (9/5): All very nice and professional - Bike was welcome in the foyer

- Karen (9/5): Lovely property with friendly and welcoming host. - Spacious and comfortable with lovely character. Nothing
- Rob (8/5): Very good - Lovely continental breakfast and attentive host.
Keen to help us with activities etc Noise from room upstairs meant an early wake up call!
- Ģirts (8/5): Very good -
- Ata (8/5): Nice Stay - The Room was Clean. Host was friendly and helpful. Big Bathroom with the Toilet. Parking is also free and easy to find. The locks of the doors are very old and without key they dont lock. Also the lock from the door of bathroom was complete broken. We had a problem beacause of the kids. They open the door every time because the lock was broken and we cannot lock even from inside.
- Jean (10/5): Extremely pleasant stop over, will use again. - Beautiful place, very well presented. Owner extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. Nice area of Calais. Nothing.
Just a note to other visitors that payment is required in cash.
- Ann (9/5): Our stay was shore as we were on the way home after a very long drive. - The location was good, near town and restaurants. It was also very near the channel tunnel.
The house was beautifully presented and the host friendly and helpful. The 5 pm check in was a little late. 4pm would have been better.
