If Carl's ergonomic made hotels....they'd have made this one (and the staff too) It was our wedding g anniversary which wasn't known until we arrived but staff looked after us amazingly. Facilties were excellent, drinks weren't expensive and the food was very good quality and delicious. Staff were always on hand an nothing was too much trouble. Parking is plentiful and there are security cameras dotted around the place so motorcycles would be safe too. The perfect stay all round. We are already talking about planning another trip to the Lakes in the summer and stopping here. Nothing....there was absolutely nothing we didnt like and we can be very fussy if something triggers us.

- Aaron (8/5): A Comfortable Stay with Room for Improvement - The rooms themselves are lovely. Great views of the surrounding countryside, with the charming sight and sound of lambs and chickens from the nearby farms adding a real rural character to the stay. The beds were comfortable and the general ambience of the room was warm and welcoming — exactly what you’d hope for after a long journey. The receptionist was pleasant and friendly, though we weren’t asked about our stay — a small touch, but one that goes a long way in hospitality. This is where I’d urge the hotel to pay closer attention. We noticed some brown staining on the bed sheet covers — not ideal, and something that should be caught before rooms are turned over. My wife also spotted spider webs and small spiders around the bathroom door and cobwebs near the shower enclosure. The kettle lid was a little dusty too, though a quick rinse sorted that easily enough. The rooms felt generally clean, but these details do leave an impression. Despite the shortcomings, we had a comfortable stay and would cautiously recommend Melbreak to others — particularly for its setting and character. A little more attention to the finer details of housekeeping and guest communication would easily make this a four or five-star experience.

We loved all the small touches like the complimentary biscuits and the facilities available in the room such as the iron, fan and hairdryer. There was only one accessible plug socket in the room which wasn't close to the bed.

- Shelley (9/5): Clean, friendly and great location - The location was ideal for our trip and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, particularly Demi who I had contact prior to our arrival and had responded very quickly and then on arrival was polite, friendly and even came out in the nasty weather to show us our room. Everywhere smells clean and well looked after. There were a few cobwebs in our room but nothing that would cause me too much of an issue, I know this is a rural location and the time of year does mean there are a lot about.

- michael (9/5): Clean and comfy - The room was very clean and the decor was great, The bed was very comfy and there was plenty of storage, good coffee making facilities and biscuits which where replaced each day. The soap dispensers either didn't work properly or we couldn't work out how to use them, we only managed to get a tiny drop out of them, that was the only fault there was
- Johnathon (2/5): Poor nights sleep and poor follow up customer service. - . I raised an issue, with the customer service team, prior to giving this review, to allow them a chance to investigate and reply. I had an email back promising that they would look into it, with the usual customer service platitudes. They haven’t bothered to reply. I usually prefer to use local firms, rather than corporates that don’t really care, however it seems that this Hotel it’s just like the rest of them.

- Nathaporn (10/5): Lovely experience! - Lovely staff & facility! Very thick wall between rooms which we really appreciate. Plenty of parking spaces! Sadly we cannot get the EV charging to work with the app but luckily there's another charging point near by so we were ok!

- Lucy (9/5): Great weekend break away, highly recommend! - Very convenient location for travelling around the lakes, and a big Tesco was only a 5 minute drive away in Workington. There was plenty of parking, the room and bathroom were clean, modern and comfortable, TV worked perfectly (a previous review I read stated the TV signal wasn't great: we didn't experience this at all). The staff were all welcoming, friendly and polite and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was great (we had breakfast both mornings and dinner one evening - very tasty!). Lovely seating area outside with a mountainous view. Will be recommending to friends and family! The only very minor thing was that I asked for a smaller portion for the Sunday dinner but received a normal sized portion when it was brought to me - this wasn't a problem though and my partner managed to eat what I couldn't!
- Sally (10/5): Wonderful stay in in an area accessible to all the lakes have to offer! - Room was spacious, bed big, full bath, large well placed television. Black out curtains. Staff jolly & very accommodating. No complaints at all & would stay again. Bonus of fantastic bar & restaurant, providing mouth watering menu. We had snacks & Sunday lunch both lovely. We had our 8 week old grandson 1 night in our room and request was granted without issue - thank you. Personally I’d have liked air conditioning however there was a fan in the room, plus we always travel with our own.
