Guest Reviews
- Monicharya (9/5): - Good to stay!
- James (10/5): Great staff, good food, good location, beautiful surrounds - beautiful there was nothing I didn’t like
- James (10/5): -
- Jindriska (9/5): Immer wieder gerne, sehr empfehlenswert!
- Trevor (9/5): A relaxing stay in Pakse - The calm atmosphere and peaceful location outside of the city center. The owner was exceptionally helpful and sweet.
- Sinead (10/5): Incredible stay - If I could give a score of 20 I would. I turned up feeling a bit down on my luck, lingering food poisoning and disillusioned with my trip, but the warm, welcoming attitude and genuine generosity of spirit of the owner and her family turned things around for me. The garden is such a welcome green space in a dusty city and it so cosy and adorable at night-time. The food the restaurant serves is delicious and fresh, it helped me regain my trust in eating again! The included breakfast options are extensive with various drink choices. Hot shower. My room even had a fridge. The bike rental company is on the pricey side but for the convenience of delivery and collection it felt worth it to me.
It was such a pleasant place to be that it really felt hard to leave. The beds are on the firm side but this is pretty normal for south east asia in general so not really the properties issue:)
- AXEL AUTENTIKA VOYAGES (10/5): - Ngoc is a very kind ,smiling and helpful host and a great cook!
- Lee (10/5): Great place!! - Gnok the owner was very helpful, made us delicious food, the garden is lovely We loved the place
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Nipun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Petr (10/5): Perfect quiet place, beautiful garden, small paradise in Pakse, very kind and helpful host. -
- Denis (10/5): Perfect - The host is the kindest person we met during our holiday in Cambodia and Lao.
She also helped us to book tuk-tuk and motorbike.
The food was really good and the room was clean.
- Petr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jcc (9/5): Superb - Good location
Very good breakfast and possibility to have dinner as well.
Rooms spacy. A little harder beds, but that's very common in Laos.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect at Xuanmai Garden Resort. As soon as I arrived, I felt like at home. Ngoc is a great host and did everything to make me feel good. You can have breakfast/lunch/dinner, there's a huge choice of menu. The room is large and spacious. The garden is just amazing.
If you are looking for a quiet place, this resort is the good place for you !
It's a bit far away from the center (by walking) but I had a motorbike so this wasn't a problem for me!
I recommend this place of heaven 100%. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Samantha (10/5): An absolute gem in Pakse - The setting is beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. The room was clean and comfortable. Ngoc is a wonderful person and does a fabulous job taking care of you while you stay there. She will take care of everything for you, whether that's related to your stay, teaching a cooking class, or booking tuktuks, drivers, tours, or travel. She arranged an afternoon tour of nearby waterfalls and then a visit the next day to Vat Phou with a trip to Wat Phao Salao (climb up the 630 steps) on the way back.
The food was delicious and filling.
It was so easy to relax here. Highly recommend staying here.
It is away from the center, but getting a tuktuk back and forth isn't a problem.
- Dmitrijs (10/5): Lovely views, epic host! - This was easily the best stay in Laos which we had, all thanks to Ngoc, the property owner - she helped us during the stay, assisted in organising travel in the region and even arranged the best travel option to Cambodia. She checked up on us at critical points making sure we had the best and safe experience.
The food at the property is home made and delicious.
- Georgios (9/5): Happy and irie environment and friendly people - What a lovely garden with the most friendly english speaking workers. And the food was a nice surprise The room was a bit.."old school" and our of date
- Keren (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is quiet and a bit outside of the city center, which makes it very pleasant. Rooms and bathrooms are big. The garden is lovely. Breakfast and food was very good. The owner is very kind and helpful. I enjoyed my stay!
- Joanna (10/5): Nice stay in Pakse - We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, good sized and the bed was comfy. The owner is very attentive and helped us when we had an issue with our bus. It is about 5km from the city center, not far in tuk tuk if you would like to have dinner or something (a restaurant is also available at the homestay and the food is good). Really recommended!
- Mariska (9/5): Genuine, joyful, authentic and helpful introduction to Laos. Ngoc & her family/staff are deligtful - The location out of town (which is why we chose it) and really peaceful. Gardens are lovely.
Ngoc and her family were so attentive and helpful. Yum food and fabulous communication. Nil
- Judith (9/5): Superb - Clean and comfortable room. Very tasteful food. Nice breakfast with good choices. What I don’t like is that when paying in LAK they have a poor exchange rate for.,Saying it is because they need to pay commission to booking.com they charge a bit more on the rate. Basically it means you pay the commission of booking on top of the room price. For me that is not ok.
- Myouska (10/5): Perfect! Stayed here 2x and will come back when I’m in Pakse again - The host is very nice! It’s a lovely accommodation Perhaps it’s a bit far from the city center, but with scooters it’s no problem!
- José (10/5): A wonderul garden paradise. - After the night bus from Vientiane, the resort is a quite garden paradise. Mrs Ngoc is an excellent host. We were thinking on having a rest the whole day and she convinced us and organised the visit to Bolaven Plateau, the falls, coffee and tea farms and the Champasak temples. She drove us also to the ATM and bank offices. Breakfast and dinner, excellent.
- Jonathan (4/5): Absolutely awful - This hotel is awful. The room was noisy with people making a load of noise outside the rooms, traffic going past and noisy air con. The hotel is dirty with dried chewing gum stuck to the banister which the cleaners can clearly see but can’t be bothered to remove. The staff are generally unhelpful. The breakfast was a complete disaster with greasy cold fried eggs and some sort of boiled rice soup which was inedible. The breakfast area is surrounded by what I can only describe as a swamp.
- Hartmut (8/5): Nice host, good stay. - Little bit outside of town but was okay for us.
The host is very friendly and the family takes good care of the guests. Loud music from the house next door but stopped in the evening.
- Elizabeth (10/5): BEAUTIFUL Oasis, with caring staff - BEAUTIFUL Oasis! This place is a little paradise in a nondescript part of Pakse.
Ngoc and the staff really made our stay and completely looked after us - beautiful human beings.
We originally booked for 1 night but ended up staying for 4 in total - we went off in the middle to bike the Bolaven Plateaux loop and they even looked after our big luggage.
So kind helpful and showered us with snacks!
Thank you Ngoc and team! Will be back! Was a little far out from 'centre' of town but not the properties fault! Once we rented a bike we were fine.
- Atjima (9/5): Amazing location, serene and comfortable place to stay. - The peace and quiet here is amazing. We woke up with the sound of rain dropping and green garden 🪴 this is an amazing soul healing ✨
The staffs are also lovely and very polite.
- Mare (9/5): A really nice host with a lovely place. She helped me book a tuktuk and other transportation. She even went to the marke - I loved the garden and the little patio places everywhere. It’s a really peaceful place.
- Xja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bertus (8/5): Very good -
- Jeremy (10/5): Great place to stay when in transit. - The owner is very friendly. Beautiful location and great food. Big room and aircon. Everything was good
- Rick (9/5): Excellent service, with a smile. - The owner runs the place by herself, assisted by some girls. She provides a good breakfast. Dinner was very nice as well. The doorlock appeared not to lock at all, so a change of room was offered and accepted. The rooms are very quiet, while the resort is just 'off the main road'. The room was a bit cramped because of unusual large cupboard. While the place is called 'Garden resort', we were amazed by the poor condition the garden was in.
- Bart (10/5): Lovely spot. - Very quiet rooms. Peaceful lovely garden area. A bit away from town Centre but we had a motorcycle so no big deal!
- Gerrit (10/5): Exceptional - Great family run resort with very calm and relaxing garden. The food is amazing and everybody is really friendly and helpful
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andréanne (9/5): Warm welcome - The staff were amazing polite and helpful. Breakfast good diner was ok.
Were nice place to hang outside the town Some informations on booking are not accurate: No fridge in the room, no payement in advence as specified
- Paul (7/5): Not sure how the property rates so highly!! - It was in a quiet and peaceful location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The first room we were taken into had squashed bugs on the bed linen and the bathroom was not clean,so they moved us to the room next door. It was only slightly better. While the bed linen had been washed it was thin and discoloured. The pillows were two different sizes and extremely hard. The bathroom was in need of a significant deep clean. The tile grout was mouldy, the toilet seat was stained and very old and the sink was covered in a layer of grime that needed to be scrubbed off , rather than just wiped over. We discussed our concerns with the owner. Menu prices are shown in USD, however when you pay the amount is converted to LAK using a terrible exchange rate, meaning you end up paying a lot more. The food was home cooked and ok , but not worth the inflated prices.
- Ava (10/5): Best Resort in Pakse with the nicest people! - The Xuanmai Garden Resort is an amazing place tp stay in Pakse and also for visiting the Bolaven. The Resort is run by the nicest family ever!
Ngoc is working at the reception and is also an amazing cook! She helped us with everything during our stay. We rented also a motorbike, left our big bagpacks at the resort and went for the Bolaven!
- Drew (10/5): Exceptional, Warm, Stay - The care and hospitality that I received from Ngoc and her family while staying at their beautiful hotel, was unmatched. I have been traveling for some time and have been homesick, and the comfort and warmth that was provided to me here was exactly what I needed and made me feel immediately at home. The daily breakfast and dinner that I ate at the restaurant was phenomenal. The vegetarian green curry might be the best that I have had. The room was appointed well and comfortable. Certainly, given the garden setting, a friendly visitor from nature might make an appearance now and then, but that is no bother to me. Quite honestly, when I left I was sad, as I don't know that I will again experience the genuine attention and family-like care that I received here.
- Taco (8/5): Very good - Nice atmosphere, very friendly hosts. The food is very very good. Freshly made. Noisy area because of noisy neighbors. The turn on their music to loud. At ten its quiet though
- John (8/5): A great place for a short stay in Pakse, with a very helpful owner. - Our 2nd stay here. Excellent location for southern bus station with a lovely garden to relax in. Food was very good at breakfast and also at evening meals - Ngoc (owner) also runs cookery classes for guests. She's also extremely helpful with advice and arranging tuk-tuk pick-ups, activities and onward travel. Nothing - everything was fine.
- Olav (9/5): Relaxed intermezzo in Pakse before heading to the Bolaven - Yes, it’s a bit out of the centre, but thats the charm, an oasis in the city. Hospitality is great and you do not reslly need to get out. Ngoc and her team prepare you a fresh and tastefull dinner upon request. —
- Paul (10/5): Would go back ! - Lovely property in a great location, fantastic food from the on-site restaurant. The family who own and run it could not be more friendly smiley and helpful. Thank you Nothing
- Gerald (7/5): Good -
- Tsz (10/5): Nice - Very peaceful area WiFi can be better
- Breezy (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was so kind and welcoming. I felt well taken care of! There was a leak in the hose in the bathroom so the floor was very wet.
- Nile (10/5): Exceptional - Very good food, and the people were extremely Nice!
- Sunit (10/5): Relaxing - Excellent food cooked at home. Place to relax Nothing to dislike
- Sunit (10/5): Exceptional - Review done
- 3btraveler (10/5): Exceptional - Gnoc was very attentive to all her guests. Great food and lots of resources. We rented a scooter, and she arranged for the bike to be brought to us. She also helped to arrange our transport to our next destination. This took any worries we had away about finding appropriate transport. It was all good.
- Nanthini (10/5): A homely place to stay for a peace of mind with all the necessary facilities you need. - The host is extremely kind and furnished us with all the help she could for our booking requests to zipline at Tad Fane Waterfall and for our return bus. She even booked us Tuk Tuk for whenever we needed. Nothing to unlike.
- Martin (10/5): A really nice garden atmosphere and fabulous host - It was a very comfortable little sanctuary. Food was very good. The owner was super sweet and always willing to help. She arranged whatever we needed. Lovely stay It was a little far from downtown but we had a motorbike so it didn’t matter. Wifi seemed to shut off at times and the router needed to be reset.
- Oleksandr (10/5): Exceptional - The staff
- Marcus (10/5): Great and nice people, Great Food as well - Great Place to stay in Pakse
- Rizza (10/5): Exceptional - The host is lovely and very helpful, the food they serve is more than delicious. The resort is just off the main road, the garden and the area is absolutely quite and relaxing.
I did stay only one night but I really loved it.
Will not hesitate to book again should I go back to Pakse.
- Gaëtan (10/5): Best place to stay in Pakse ! - Everything is perfect ! The staff is lovely and helpful, the accommodation is clean and peaceful, they also have a restaurant on site as the resort is a little out of town !
- Lesley (9/5): Clean and peaceful resort, with a super host. Would definitely stay again. - Ngoc was the best hostess ever! She took care of all our travel requests, always had a smile and cooked delicious meals....all for a very reasonable price
The guest house is in a quiet area We liked everything, but don't expect flat screen TV'S, and what you might consider 'resort' facilities
- Ina (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location. The host does the meals and they are great but the deserts are extra. The room was clean daily and the towels were charged daily. You could book tours and rides to the airport or tickets for buses into other cities. Loved it.
- Libby (10/5): Amazing homestay - The host went above and beyond. She was so kind and welcoming. This place was great value for money. The food at the restaurant was so amazing too! Nothing!
- Gribbin (10/5): Beautiful quiet garden location set away from the road with exceptional staff. - Beautiful quiet garden location set away from the road. Our exceptional host, Ngoc, was truly marvelous in looking after us and helping with our travel plans. Great breakfast and lovely home cooked dinners sourced fresh from the market. Room was comfortable and very clean with a good bathroom. Nothing!
- Allan (9/5): It was a friendly, charming and comfortable place to stay for 2 nights. - The room is spacious with a spacious bathroom. It is well designed and furnished. No glass window but shutters that open out onto the expansive garden. The food is great - Vietnamese, Thai, Lao and more. Ngoc goes out of her way to give personal attention to every guest and to make sure everything is okay and to arrange tours or tickets. Three generation Vietnamese, family with Ngoc's daughter and grandmother, residents of Laos. Nothing much, I did not have a fridge in my room but other rooms did, tv did not work but that was good, who needs it!
- Federico (10/5): Exceptional - I will start by saying that the owner of the resort is simply amazing. Ngoc is very helpful, and an amazing cook. She was able to assist us with many things, bus, scooter renting. The place is very nice even if not in the city center, but to be honest that did not affect us at all, also because Ngoc is always available and can contact a tuk tuk for you. I definitely recommend the place and I hope to go back soon to enjoy the rice soup in the morning for breakfast in the beautiful garden.
- Josephine (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful little haven in Pakse. We had a wonderful stay here before and after our Pakse loop. Bungalows are large, clean and well kept. The host Ngoc is so helpful and will set you up with anything you need. She even gave us snacks and fruit for the road to-go. Thanks so much again for everything!
- Silvia (10/5): Relaxing place - The food. The kindness of the owner. The peaceful atmosphere.
- Jennifer (10/5): Very nice - Very friendly hosts and beautiful setting Need to get a tuk tuk to town
- Stephan (10/5): Best Hotel - - Ngoc was the loveliest host ever
- Perfect service (booking flights, taxi and cool tour to Bolavien Plateau)
- Help us a lot
- Nice garden and room
- Fine food
- Daniel (10/5): Restful, clean, hospitable, great location - Very clean, relaxing place. Amazing value given that it is walking distance from downtown Pakse. Ngok was a wonderful host; she used to run a restaurant in town before Covid so her food is really good. She also has amazing English! We enjoyed a restful weekend on our way to the Waterfalls!
- Natthapol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - The resort is wonderful, and the hosts are so lovely and helpful! we had an amazing time there - the food was really excellent and it's a great base to explore Pakse and the area.
- Troyce (10/5): Quite, relaxing value stay with excellent meals. - Great facilities on the outskirts of town. Good jumping off point to reach the Bolavan Plateau. phenomenal staff with excellent food on site. very helpful host. No complaints
- Emmi (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great. Especially the staff were fantastic. Our room was clean and spacious.
- Max (10/5): Best experience from the host whilst in SE Asia, so helpful, happy and caring. Provided snacks for the Paske Loop and ev - Beautiful garden and the host was incredible caring, happy and helpful.
- Nicole (10/5): Wow this place was the most perfect stay we didn’t want to leave. Ngoc the owner goes above and beyond for her guests fr - We loved everything about this property, clean rooms comfy bed, and an amazing breakfast. the hospitality was above and beyond. highly recommend! also 100% recommended the cooking class with Ngoc the owner the best one we’ve ever done. N/A
- Smallman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Great and familiar place. Good to go to Bolaven Plateau from here! - It was the best place I've stayed in Laos so far. Very friendly and helpful host made me feel at home there. Very clean. Good food. Good laundry service! It's easy to go from here for daytrips to the Bolaven Plateau by motorbike. Be aware of the motorbike girl. In my impression she tried to cheat me with a broken headlight. Fortunately I had taken a picture of the front of the bike, so I could proof it was not me who damaged it.
But this problem has nothing to do with the guesthouse, which has to be rated with 10 stars.
- Alain (10/5): The best hotel in Pakse. - The owners where very friendly and helpfull.
Before to checkin they give you à mango and a ice thea.
Very nice people, good food and nice garden in a quiet area.
I highly recommand this place. Nothing.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Such friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful gardens. Lovely food. A bit far out of Pakse although we preferred the peace and quiet.
- Ulrike (10/5): Exceptional - I stayed 3 days in the resort. I arrived in the morning after a very long Busride. Although the family was very busy with preparing breakfast they helped me with a refreshing shower at their own place. The food was excellent the service was great and I always felt at home. Especially the young Owner lady was very sweet . I will come again.
- Ian (9/5): Lovely surrounding and great staff! food was delicious. all cooked by Ngoc. Ngoc also offered cooking classes which we t - Ngoc, the owner was exceptional. very
professional yet friendly, warm and helpful.
- Xinghong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yngwie (10/5): Peaceful place with a wonderful host! - THIS IS THE BEST STAY YOU'LL HAVE IN LAOS!
First of all the place is really beautiful and quiet. It's literally a peaceful garden. The rooms were good and the AC worked very well, they were clean. Short, the rooms were good, nothing too special, but the service of this place is simply perfect! The host is so extremely nice and caring. One night we arrived very late because of some issues along the road and still she insisted we called her to wake her up so she could prepare our dinner (at 11:30PM!), of course we did not wake her up out of respect, but the fact that she wanted to do this for us is just amazing. Every time we came for a question and had to wait a little, she gave us fresh ice tea and mango. Also the breakfast was amazing and so fresh! Would really really recommend this place for it's extraordinary service. Especially for this price, you can't get anything better anywhere on the planet!
- Nicholas (9/5): A home away from home - The guest house is on the outskirts of Pakse, set back from the main road so nice and quiet
Excellent breakfast and meals (all homemade) on site
Great service with advice and possibility of booking transport. Motorbike hire is also possible.
The rooms are quite basic but comfortable
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Clean room.
The manager was the best and worst part of the hotel. She tries very hard to please everyone but is not good about finishing one task. Because the manager is so easily distracted it took a long time to check in.
I didn't feel that the room was worth what I paid for it
Many people in Laos smoke and so I woke up to the air conditioner pumping smoke into my room.
Everything is quoted in dollars and then the manager uses a conversation rate that is a bit above the actual rate. I mentioned this but the manager would still not move the rate down to the official rate
